got his 4th one 2morro which should be the last, she helped with his constipation too, so worth ago with your little un.

Has anyone else had any really mad dreams/panic attacks in the middle of the night? Keep thinking DS is in bed with us and pushing DP out of bed in my sleep as I think he's squashing him. Escalated last night to 2 feet on his back and pushed with all my might until he fell out of bed,I was fast asleep! I thought it was dp thought I was a nutter!(ds was fast asleep in his cot as he always is)

leggymamba · 21/07/2005 11:39

I had those mad dreams the first time around - got worse the first night dd slept in her own room - had to get up and go and look for her as couldn't remember where she was. Haven't done it this time - I sleep so deeply as so knackered I don't think I dream at all!

Am aching all over as have been on two huge walks in the last few days - went to a park with caves (first had to climb a huge hill to get to them) - wandered why the people leaving were looking at up as though we were simple when we started. 2 hours later at the top of the hill with 2 stone dd on shoulders, picnic bag, camera, dog, ds in baby carrier and me and dh in a puddle I understood why!!! couple of days later before ache really set in took dog out and lost her in middle of forest - just kept thinking of the the good it was doing me lugging ds around through the trees in carrier (not sure how heavy he is as haven't had him weighed for 4 weeks but seemed like a lot!!)

Verso - keep going, month 3 is when things start picking up! Sit in the gaden with a GnT (1 is enough for me at the moment!) and let your dh treat you for the next 6 weeks - he has no excuse now!

alux · 21/07/2005 11:49

Verso: hope I didn't upset you being so forthright. Just sharing what worked best for me. I just really think that it is time someone else looked after for mummy.

Last sunday we went strawberry picking at a farm we go to every year and make a whole day of it. Maya bobbed about in her Ergo carrier and breastfeed in the strawberry field. Wish I had a pic of that.

She's currently going thru her 3 mo. growth spurt so is feeding every 2 hrs day and night for 3 days now. With the exception of from 6 pm to 11 pm so mummy tries to catch her sleeep during that time.

alux · 21/07/2005 11:51

oh, went back to my bodypump class for the first time last saturday. I exercised with the beginner's weights all over again and was pleasantly surprised I didn't kill myself with them. My triceps were knackered though.

Verso · 21/07/2005 12:23

No you didn't upset me at all, alux. I just wish I could make it happen! DH finishes work tonight (he's a teacher) and is going out with colleagues, so I have cheekily booked a babysitter for the evening, even though I will be in.

This probably sounds insane, but I suddenly realised I'd have been looking after DD from about 11:30pm last night through to whatever time tomorrow morning, and realised I just couldn't do it. Probably makes me sound really feeble, but I just couldn't face doing that many hours without any respite.

I haven't started taking the AD's the GP gave me, as I think a lot of my PND is down to not feeling/being supported, or getting a break.

btw the Evening Standard interviewed me earlier in the week, because of all the publicity about maternity wards etc. They didn't run the story in the end, which I'm slightly relieved about (!), but it was an interesting (if stressful) experience.

Oh, and I finally got a letter back from my hospital about my complaint. They have lost my postnatal notes () so decline to comment on large chunks of my letter, and also spell DD's name incorrectly throughout. I am thinking of taking legal advice...

Verso: it is great that you booked a sitter. we all need a break. You are right. feeling unsupported and not having a break is 50% of your pnd and the other 50 is the difficulties you had post childbirth. Chin up. You are a strong woman. You've weathered so much so you know you have a deep will to succeed.

I have reflected that women in traditional societies are usually prevented from contact with the outside world for weeks after the child birth. they are locked up virtually and we feel sorry for them. HEY! I recently discovered how lucky they really are! they get to bond with their new one round the clock while others cook and look after the older ones for them!

Hey, hope that makes you feel better about booking a sitter.

About the hospital losing your notes: I don't believe that one! More like you know they know that they cocked up and are trying to hide something. Take legal advice. Save any medication bottles etc. you have had to take because they can help to show what you had to be prescribed after when you were re-admitted.

bumpylump · 21/07/2005 17:56

Good on your Verso, have the biggest bubbly bath in the world and pamper yourself

alux · 25/07/2005 22:06

reviving our thread before it disappears into the archives...

dd slept a whole lot today. she nodded off contentedly on my lap for 30 mins at 8:30 this morning. then was happy chappy for an hr and a half and then nodded off again. I put her in her cot and was screaming after 30 mins so I thought that was the end of that. Nope. she was mad as hell for 30 mins till I got the hint that she wanted to sleep more - in total - another hour and a half. by this time it was only half past one and she had napped for 2.5 hrs! anyway, she slept at least an hour more in the before 7 pm when I put her to bed. she is still asleep.

She was bright-eyed and busy-tailed when awake and seems to be feeding enough. Anyone knows why this? and will she be awake at 5am full of beans? I guess I will find out soon enough.

Darciesmum · 26/07/2005 21:05

Hello All!

Got Darcie weighed today at 16+6 days she weighs 13lbs 9oz. She is chuckling and rolling around, she is my angel!

Had a great weekend spent a fortune but hey never mind!

Moving on friday finally got my own place its just right for me and Darcie to live in so quite excited about that!

leggymamba · 27/07/2005 14:39

Gem - congratulations on the new home - hope you're out of boxes now.

I've just come on quickly to see if our broad band has been connected - Am v. excited as it's the first day of being able to get it in our village - still hasn't been switched on......

Patrick has his 12 week jabs yesterday so was a bit off last night but slept until 5 (better than the every 2 hours the night before - don't like that it's still dark at 4.30 now!!!) - now weighing in at 17lb...asked the HV about him getting too big and her responce was 'well he will be big as he started off that way' she didn't say you paranoid cow but she didn't need too!

Am begining to get twitchy about everything being shut (i.e. toddler and baby groups) for the school holidays - only the first week and aleady have resorted to every video in the house - always said that I didn't agree with using tv as a babysiter but better than 2 hours of whining!

Just read through the above - think I'm having a bad day!

alux · 27/07/2005 19:17

congrats on your new place Gem and I hope that moving goes fast and without a hitch. It will be wonderful to have your own home with Darcie.

Maya just gets cuter and more interactive as the days go on. Her latest favourite thing, after sampling her bathwater is to do razzy noises. It's so cute when she does milky ones.

LM: I also live in a sml village. We've got broadband though but can only get phones thru BT. Do you have other lo's? (re reference to videos?) I have booked playgroup places thru Surestart in the little town nearby. They don't seem to close for the hols. We go on hols - Devon - on the 6th of Aug. for 2 wks. I find myself so looking forward to it after being restricted to home since March.

aprilmeadow · 29/07/2005 17:14

OOh its been very quiet on here this week....

Gem, hope all went well with your move.

I am in a particulaly good mood today as i have just discovered that 80% of my pre pg clothes actually fit!! I have had issues with them not going over my thighs or just plain not doing up, so YAY!! I joined a gym last week to try and shift the extra stone i am carrying, as i need to be back in my old clothes come october when i go back to work. It seems to be working already!!

Hope you all have a good weekend

Verso · 30/07/2005 15:09

Ooh Aprilmeadow, I am exceedingly envious . I had to buy new trousers in a bigger size. Tops are ok because I used to have small boobs for my size (does that make sense?) so they had a bit of 'give' in them. Bottoms are a different story!

Can I ask whether anyone else has aching joints? I mean ALL their joints? This has just started this week and it's driving me mad. I had to take a painkiller last night because I couldn't sleep from it (and as we all know with my DD not sleeping I need all the rest I can get!). It's everywhere - from my hips to my toes to my thumbs to my elbows... everywhere, and really achey.

I assume this is the reversal of the loosened ligaments you get during pregnancy - everything tightening up again or something? Do any experienced Mums remember this from last time or should I start worrying about arthritis?!

Thanks for the kind words last week about the babysitter. For various reasons we ended up going out together, instead of DH going out to his party, and it was really really nice. I had my bath the following night .

Verso · 30/07/2005 15:10

In case I gave the wrong impression there, my boobs are now GINORMOUS but they are the right size for my tops, if you see what I mean...

Why did I need to explain that?! LOL

DelGirl · 31/07/2005 13:51

hi verso, I have the aching joints tto, it's awful. See my thread mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=92744&stamp=050718215442. Kittypickle has done alink to another one on there which is very reassuring. hth

Using my sis's pc at the mo so will report more on dd when I get back but she's doing great, sleeping a 10 hour stretch at night now which is just fab.

Hope you're all ok

Merlin · 31/07/2005 13:54

Hi DG

10hrs - you lucky thing - Ryan has now gone backwards and is waking up every bloody hour or so - not for feed, just losing dummy - frustrating.

Verso · 31/07/2005 18:11

DG thanks SO much for that thread!!!

Seabird · 31/07/2005 21:18

Hi everyone, I've been enjoying reading all your news even though I haven't posted recently.

Great about your dd sleeping 10 hours, Delgirl! DS mostly goes from 7 til 7 but with a 1030 dreamfeed. We had a tricky week as he had a cold and the mucous was giving him tummy pains. (Hurray for mumsnet, I thought he'd regressed to colic at 16wks & was greatly relieved when a mumsnetter diagnosed the reason he was yelling.)

I've taken to putting obstacles near his left shoulder to stop him rolling over . Otherwise he rolls straight over and within minutes he's whinging! I let him do it now & again though so he can get into practice for crawling . DD (20m) is much better with him now, thankfully. Lots of my friends are pregnant and it's so lovely to see how nurturing dd is compared with their toddlers who haven't yet got little siblings. She spends a lot of time feeding her dolly milk too

aprilmeadow · 01/08/2005 11:27

Good morning ladies, have you seen that there is a Due in April '06 thread now!! How weird!

orangina · 01/08/2005 11:40

Hello everyone, I haven't ever posted on this thread, having really enjoyed our "due in april 2005" threads, as up until now, I could barely get myself dressed and fed before midday let alone find time to get on the computer before now . Really looking forward to reading this thread (phew!) and catching up with all your news. Will post again soon! Hope you are all well and thriving.... O xx
