Just had some great news from the CSA i will be getting £40 a week out of Jamie and that isn't including the arrears he has to pay!
They haven't been able to contact him so went straight to his works to get it, as he didn't send DNA papers back, and have sent him a notice of deductions! he he
Don't think he'll b 2 happy about that, but it's tough!!!!

Fantastic news Gem - I'm so pleased for you Haven't worked out where photos go yet but now have an extra incentive to find out!

starshaker · 23/06/2005 09:26

hi havent posted on this thread for a while just checking in to see how every1s precious bundles are ding

Roobie · 23/06/2005 18:43

Hope your doing OK, Lucy99, after your D&C.

I've bitten the bullet and posted a pic of Alexander onto members profiles - he looks quite cute in the picture but I'm finding it hard to capture his exact look (if you know what I mean) - he always looks different from how I see him in all our pictures!.

leggymamba · 27/06/2005 20:03

It's gone all quiet on here - everyone must be enjoying the sun or else so tired from lack of sleep because of hot grumpy babies that the computer seems too hard work!

We've managed one night from 11 to 5am but things have slipped backwasrd again. It really is just luck as I am doing exactly the same as last time. hope everone else is doing better

hello, nice to see some action on this thread. congratulations to saskia! which way did she roll? Ds was going front to back at about 5weeks (about 4 months earlier than dd!) but hasn't gone from back to front yet.

(19mo) dd's been at grandmas' for the weekend so we've only had ds to coo over. She was a bit of a nightmare last week tbh, the jealousy has finally kicked in and I was totally drained by Friday so it's been nice to have a bit of a breather, even though I've missed her. I keep reciting the mumsnet mantra "It's just a phase"

How's everybody else?

Hi all

No rolling to report here yet!! Although we do have sleeping through from 11 ti 7/8am so we are thrilled with that! Well he does wake about 6.30 but generally goes off again after a little while if we ignore him . Still feeding usually 3 hourly though - he's a greedy boy.

Hope everyone else and their babies are doing Ok and enjoying the sunshine. Lucy99 - hope all is OK now after your op and Verso hope things are improving for you - hang on in there.

Merlin · 27/06/2005 21:26

feeding 3 hourly in the day obviously!!

DS1 still ignores him most of the time!

Seabird · 27/06/2005 21:31

yes i know what you mean about , lockets - with dd I always used to wonder why they went on about not leaving the baby unattended on the changing table - she showed no signs of going anywhere for a long time!

how old's your dd1? I must admit last week I was having thoughts along the lines I had when dd was born. Then it was "oh my god has everyone who has a child really been through this?? Now it's "OMG has everyone who has more than one child really been through this??"

wow that's great about your ds2 sleeping til 7/8 merlin! how much does he sleep during the day? DS sleeps loads more than Gina says they should, so I'm not sure whether his waking at 6 is because of that or hunger (though he goes straight back to sleep after he's fed so maybe that answers the question). And he definitely doesn't eat the recommended amount for his weight during the day so I guess I should be grateful he sleeps at all!

Merlin · 27/06/2005 21:43

Seabird - it seems like he sleeps quite a lot in the day actually but maybe its not as much as I think! he's on formula now and cos he's such a greedy thing he has the hungry formuala for his bedtime feed at 11pm (or 'fatboy' bottle as it is known in our house!) which does seem to help him go through the night. Then I try to keep his feeds on track as per Gina Ford, but don't follow the other stuff cos I'd find it impossible with DS1 to deal with as well! Next step will be to bring that 11pm feed forward so his bedtime feed will be around 7/8pm I guess - might give that a go next week!

DelGirl · 27/06/2005 21:46

hi everyone.

well, I can't report that dd has rolled over either although she can kind of do it if she's laying beside me in my bed but I think that has more to do with my hefty weight more than anything.

Has been a frustrating week tbh with regards to going to sleep. DD doesnt seem to want to sleep much during the day now although I suppose the nights are slightly better. She'll sometimes do a 5 hour stretch at the beginning of the night but then it will be anything from 2 to 4 hours so we're still all over the place. This past week it's taken me up to 4 hours to settle her with on off feeding which is really hard going in this heat. Get a bit weepy sometimes as there's no-one who can take her for 5 minutes and just getting myself a drink sometimes is a challenge.

Today, she woke up after about an hour at lunchtime and was really upset. She's only cried like that once before and that was after her jabs. I took her nappy off and noticed a bulge in her groin area so took her to the Dr's who's referred her to the paed (can't spell it). Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, she was as calm as anything in the surgery so I don't think the Doc was overly concerned so i'm going to try not to let it worry me. He said the appt could take a few weeks though and I should take her back if she's upset like that again or the lump gets bigger. He doesnt think its a hernia, which was my 1st thought. Sorry, just need to offload a bit as feeling a little sorry for myself cos i'm so tired. Hoping she'll sleep now until at least 12 so I can do a few things. Should get off the pc I guess

DelGirl · 27/06/2005 21:50

god, sounds like one long moan about dd. She's adorable most of the time and smiling and squealing witrh delight alot too which is just wonderful. The nights can be hard though, can't they?!

Seabird · 27/06/2005 21:51

snap again lockets. DD is definitely at her worst when I'm feeding - no matter that I'm giving her 99% of my attention the rest of the time! Her constant wail is "mummy cuddle?" which started out cute but is now wearing a bit thin, especially when it's accompanied by her trying to push ds off my lap (particularly annoying when he's being difficult about feeding and it's taken an hour to persuade him to latch on). oh yes, and the tantrums!

I had a look at the Rebecca Abrams book (3 shoes etc) and it looks like this behaviour is pretty textbook. Not sure if that helps, but I suppose it does in the sense that it's supposed to ease when the baby's 4m (at which point a different set of problems start ) I went to bluewater today and bought her "Sophie & the New baby" and a toy bottle and nappies for her dolly. They'll probably distract her for about 5 minutes.

Seabird · 27/06/2005 22:00

oh poor you delgirl, hope you get a nice unbroken stretch of sleep tonight. Let us know what happens with the paed. I know what you mean about needing to vent even though things aren't so bad overall. I was knocked for 6 by dd's behaviour last week but at other times in the week she was an adorable little angel, doing things like starting to sing nursery rhymes for the 1st time (she did twinkle twinkle from start to finish one day, out of the blue )

yes dd always has to be playing with the same "toy" as ds eg bouncy chair, activity arch. She's also started refusing to go in the bath (having always been a total water baby, & still loving swimming - another opportunity to be contrary).

Verso · 28/06/2005 08:21

Delgirl, I sympathise about the sleep, though we've actually been pleased dd is sleeping 5 hours, then 3 at a stretch as it's such an improvement. I seem to be surrounded by women with 'textbook' babies, and mine isn't at all!

Once dh goes to work (and sometimes even if he's here!) I very rarely get a chance to make a drink or whatever too. I have a hungry baby and she still has some days where the feeds seem endless.

How old is your dd? She sounds v similar to mine.

I hope the lump turns out to be nothing.

Gem1355 · 28/06/2005 09:13

Hi all nice to hear your all okay!

Had Darcie weighed yesterday, and i had only had her weighed a week and 3 days ago! She was 10lbs 15oz then and is now 12lbs 1.5oz! my chubby angel!!!!

We r both okay tho! Darcie has managed to roll over a couple of times, from front to back but not done since! Both enjoying the sun tho, wanted to go to Southsea as the festival of the sea is on and its a gorgeous day, but my washing machine has broke so waiting for a new one to be delivered today!

Also had good news about Jamie and both tax credits, Jamie will be paying me the sum of about £220 a month , Child Tax Credit 54.62 a week and WFTC 123.62 every fortnight but getting all that is backdated and due to me paid into my account tomorrow, and is a rounded up figure of £1500.

So that has made my week!

Hi Everyone - I think we have turned a corner with Jack at last! He goes down at about midnight and wakes anywhere between 4/5 then is up for about 45mins -1 hr then sleeps til 7/8.

Have looked at the GF routine but couldnt stick to it, so have made up our own! He seems to feed at similar times each day - depending on when he sleeps - but we make sure that the evening routine is stuck to without fail! We live in a little village in the country and take Jack for an evening walk round the lanes and fields between 7.30 and 8pm. Takes about 45mins to do and he falls asleep half way round and then sleeps until 11pm when he has his feed and goes down about 12.

Had him weighed yesterday (he is 9wks) and he is 13lbs 8.5oz!! He is on part breast and part formula. I was really pleased

He is having his jabs at 2pm today, should i prepare for a bad pm and night???

He is smiling and laughing loads now, but no sign of rolling yet.....

Brilliant news about the money Gem, it must be a huge relief for you.

Hope you are all being able to enjoy the sunshine.

Verso · 28/06/2005 21:07

aprilmeadow - when DD had her first set of vaccinations she got a bit grizzly as her leg was quite sore, but a minute dose of Calpol sorted her out. Hope all has gone well!

Totally random question for you lot. I've been given a mobile for the cot, but it only lasts about two minutes before it needs rewinding, which isn't very practical. Can anyone recommend a good one that might repeat for long enough to soothe DD to sleep?

(I had a look at lots online but they don't tell you how long they play for.)

Any other sleep-inducing tips would be highly appreciated! (You may correctly infer from this that DD has had some rather odd sleep patterns lately! )

Thanks
