Amberc · 23/02/2009 13:48

And this - genius! link

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 13:49

Ohmigod, Amber, that is HIDEOUS!!!!

josey · 23/02/2009 13:51

Waiting from On call doc to phone, looks like Olivias tummy has a bleed(extremely long sigh!!!!!!)

Im glad with FB people are putting there nicnames in the requests, we could be adding some of these funny things

Going Oli has pigtails today her hair is so long, and thats after its been cut.

AH that Icicle was outside Rhiannas window, and thats our south facing, I will post the ones on the front of the house though the pics arent so pretty.

Scotland Girls......I had a thought the other night, not sure if any of you would be up for it but.......what about a central meet up when the weather is a bit better like.....Noahs Arc in Perth? Josey will scuttle away with her silly Ideas x

josey · 23/02/2009 13:53

opps sponge yeah how exciting, fingers crossed.

hahahaahahaha that is like a warning of what happens if you dont deal with the lady garden

neenztwinz · 23/02/2009 14:42

Hi Josey, any news from the doc yet? Hope Oli is OK.

Poppy, what's getting you down exactly about work? Is it cos you are going back to a less senior position? What is it you do? Sorry I think I might have missed something there. Hope you feel better soon anyway. How many days are you doing when you go back?

Sponge, what are you discussing re mat pay? I am being very nosey today.

I have to ring work myself cos they STILL have not got back to me about my request to do one day a week (nearly four weeks since I put in my request now).

pleasechange · 23/02/2009 15:17

neenz you always ask the questions I was wondering!

poppy34 · 23/02/2009 15:34

typing this with a baby on my shoulder (so much for my plan to try to get her to sleep in her cot -she had a manic fit for 15 minutes then wailed...and fell asleep on my shoulder..) - neenz its not a more junior position just one in differnet bit of the business (I'm an accountant)..works slightly differently (basically I have been used to finding my own wokr and to a degree selecting who I work for)...was just a bit to have an email saying you're working with x (who I'd not worked with)..but have done some digging and seems x is actually ok and its more a case of badly worded email that touched a massively raw nerve. I know its going to be very difficult as 1. I'm feeling very sensitive re going bad (I worked pre materntiy leave in team from hell and had the most unsupportive boss ever) so am really cautious about making same mistake 2. going back to work post baby is always going to be a bit odd.

but that is very bad of your work neenz not to respond to yuo

amberc i know you're right as that is exactly why I want to go back (plus I think it'll be great for edie to have someone else who will help "civilise" her in sponges words - both her parents being a soft touch..which is why I am getting a bad neck from her sleeping).

very excited -got breadmaker coming 2moro and just done an ocado order of goodies (plus other sundry bad things ) to play with it.

pleasechange · 23/02/2009 15:55

poppy I can see why that got your back up, and yes, it is additionally difficult to contemplate the whole thing at the same time as finishing your mat leave. If it helps at all, I found the thought of it much worse than the reality. Also I've found that I'm less interested than before in any office politics, as I'm a bit more emotionally detached from it now. Hope it works out ok. When are you going back?

neenz that is awful they haven't got back to you yet. My manager still hasn't got back to me on compressed hours either, and I started back 3 weeks ago (having made the request in January!)

poppy34 · 23/02/2009 16:10

no allnewthat does help - I think its a bit like imagining your life post baby - ie you think you'll never get any free time etc at all - but gradually you adjust.
and agree the politics thing will seem soo much less important when you just want to get the job done to get out. I do really appreciate those that are back (I'm not back til mid april).

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 16:46

Lol poppy, did I really say that your nanny would "civilise" Edie?!! I don't remember saying that!

mat pay - think I mentioned before I don't qualify cos I had a break in service between local authorities, if I'd started on the 6th April I would have qualified but I started on Monday 9th!!

My union rep was fantastic - but I don't hold out much hope .

neenztwinz · 23/02/2009 16:47

So allnew does that mean you are still doing full-time hours until they respond to your request?

vivaGlasvegas · 23/02/2009 17:11

sponge yay! c'mon the miracle baby!

I can now see you in fb - something seems to have worked!

poppy I have also found the reality of going back less stressful than the thought of it was, and am enjoying my time off even more.

vivaGlasvegas · 23/02/2009 17:15

josey hope Oli's bleed isn't too serious. I would be up for a meet up at some point in the centre somewhere - I'm off on Tuesdays and Fridays.

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 17:26

viva, we're still not friends though , are your initials LT?

josey, keep us posted on little Oli

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 17:28

oh and amber, that cleaning babygro is genius - have ordered one for alex!

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 17:33

Ohmigod, think I just felt a sharp point on Alex's bottom gum - have to send back those false teeth I ordered for him!

poppy34 · 23/02/2009 17:58

I may be paraphrasing sponge but basically its never too early and she is not likely to learn bad habits off the language (I will admit here that I will not be able to blame the nanny for any bad language she picks up .)

well by that I mean I'm quite looking forward to being able to delegate spread the load on some of the stuff like teaching her to eat with cutlery, nappy training etc - in my very limited experience my stubborn little miss seems to learn quicker etc with someone less of a soft touch than her mother (ie anyone!).

and reckon you're right viva I know dh makes the most of his time with her -and I'll do the same...(like properly watching tv with her rather than half watching/half mumsnetting).

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 19:07

@ picking up bad language - I really am going to have to curb my tendency to swear too!

And I think you're right about babies being able to learn things from others - those of us with babies already in nursery are testament to their willingness to do things for others that they won't do for us!

systemsaddict · 23/02/2009 19:13

You are so right. And it continues; I am sat here trying to persuade my 2 year old to eat more than a mouthful of his dinner - as usual; and as usual he has eaten 'all' his lunch at nursery and 'all' his pudding, and I'm sure did it without the dinosaur impressions, water pouring and throwing cutlery at the cat that we have had to put up with tonight. There is something wrong when my 8 month old quietly and happily feeds herself while I am aeroplaning potato into her big brother's mouth!!

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 19:43

Oh SA, how stressful! (Although I had to giggle a little at the description of tea time - sorry ).

Is it a girl/boy thing or an 8mth old/2 yr old thing? Have we got all this to look forward to?!

parofleurmapu · 23/02/2009 20:05

wow fab cleaning babygro Psml!!!!
And cant believe that hand Dp has always said he was gonna invent a hand as Fleur likes holding my hand as she goes to sleep!!!

Sponge- thats fab news

Poppy grr at job stuff hope u get it sorted soon

Debs and Josey hope babs are better soon

FLeur been real grizzly here today weve had a funny tummy lots of wind and straining and drooling too Think its teeth, we have 3 bottom ones already, think its the top ones.

Off to check out FB

josey · 23/02/2009 20:11

Feeeew! Just apears to have been a bit of trauma round the site, she has maybe pulled on it. She takes ranitadine which would stop any real problems. Its just so bloody scary

Amberc · 23/02/2009 20:13

Systems - I totally agree on the nursery thing - Luke ate ALL of his breakie, ALL of his Lamb tagine and rice and MOST of Leek and potato soup at nursery today. They don't puree it - it just goes straight in. I am lucky to get a quarter of anything down him.

Poppy it's lovely when you pick the baby up as they are SOOOO pleased to see you it's adorable and the weekends are sacred!

Josey - let us know how Oli's tummy is. She is utterly beautiful - and that hair! Wow!!

Sponge - is that a tooth then? Has everyone with baby teeth started brushing them yet? I bought a baby electric toothbrush. It's more like a vibrator! Luke likes it though - probably more the taste of the toothpaste.

systemsaddict · 23/02/2009 20:17

sponge I fear it may be a 2 year old thing, but the more experienced mums among us will have to confirm that!

josey glad it looks like nothing too serious. Did you have to wait all day to get her seen?

spongebrainbigpants · 23/02/2009 20:18

josey, that's so hard , how do you stop her pulling on it, that's what babies do?

Amber, yes, a little tooth! So cute! He also took his first steps today (aided of course!) so big day for us!
