Rolf love the idea of weighing in kg. My weight loss isn't going well at all (perhaps because I still eat too much junk and haven't managed to fit in regular exercise) and I cant bear to step on the scales just now.

I keep telling myself it will be easier when I'm back at work How the hell I've come to that conclusion I dont know!

Amberc · 02/03/2009 21:22

Neenz I used fertility friend. i plotted one month and then went for it the next using the same days and I got knocked up in one shag. I tried th ovulation sticks but they never went positive ever. I was worried I wasn't fertile. Chucked the lot of em in the end.

One of my first questions in my childbirth classes was about epidurals and I asked the MW if she was an epidural nazi. That went down like a pint of sick I must say but I got my point across as they kept telling us 1st timers that you would end up with an assisted birth if you had one (clearly I did but it wasn't because of the epidural). Maybe they make it sound awful to save money on giving them.

Poppy yes Luke is very agile but he was always desperate to move around and now he can he's much happier. He is however covered in bruises all the time from falling over. It's not so much of a blessing when trying to change a nappy though as now I almost always am wiping plop off his feet, legs, myself etc etc where he won't stay still. Also have a major problem with him trying to get out of the bath and over the side (seriously) so I can't look away evn for a second. Hmmm. Roll on walking

What's all this sheep stuff I came across - just skimmed over but there seems to be a general sheep fetish with the june 08ers!

I have had a small mare. I bought some Nair hair removal cream which I have never used before and decided to do my very small and hardly noticable upper lip hair. Now my upper lip has gone all red and funny looking - oops!! Hope it goes down by tomorrow or it'll be a case of having to trowle foundation on over it! . It was meant for my amazonian nether regions but I couldn't face it . Have put on fake tan though so I'll probably end up looking tangoed tomorrow. Wish me luck...

Amberc · 02/03/2009 21:26

PS I have still not lost a lb since my birth.

PPS Luke also has eye snot and he has to have antibiotic eye drops that I can't get in his eyes.

PPPS I can spell trowel

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 21:27

Well after the way you delivered Thea you are the expert on natural birth, Rolf!

lol Josey, I remember when my contractions started it was so painful I was devastated cos I'd been so set on having a natural birth using tens and hypnotherapy etc. I never thought you could be in that much pain. I thought I would never cope.

Aberdeen, Grrr at your work! As a sub I know how annoying it is when you get sent work to re-do and think er could you not have just done that yourself?

I have been reading the AIBU thread about Medised being re-branded for over 6s - it has made me feel like a Very Bad Mother lol . 'Some people give their babies Calpol if they are just a bit out of sorts'. Yep, that's me . I do try to lay off the Medised as much as poss tho! lol at rebranding it to stop me getting some!

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 21:35

lmao at 'epidural nazi', Luke climbing out of the bath, wiping poo off him and burning your lip, Amber . T is still not crawling (he's been rocking on all fours for two weeks now tho ) nor is E but he is a mare when doing his nappy. They are both very whingy at the moment, well they do have chicken pox but also I think they are frustrated cos they want to crawl

Rolf · 02/03/2009 21:42

Amber lol at pint of sick and your moustache. Bandana over lower face?

You dope fiend Neenz!

I had an epidural when I was having DS1 and definitely needed it.

I didn't do any of the ttc monitoring stuff, really. I'd learned natural family planning techniques years ago so already knew about a bit about how my body worked. I got some ovulation sticks when ttc DD1 but only used them a few times as I got a bit loopy about it.

poppy34 · 02/03/2009 21:45

josey hear hear re the pain relief comment. neenz I agree re hypno comment (mind you I knew from previous less happy experience they hurt waht I wanted to get through is the knackering tedium of it). That said I do remember feeling as sick as I did having edie after a night out on polish vodka

pearls yep lets start a ttc thread but I refuse to use the phrase BABY DANCING!!

amber the nair thing sounds painful - I have got an epi machine on essies advice - it was very effective on my legs but less so on teh fishermans beard that is my bikini line so may waste beauty salon time on that for when I'm going anywhere that I need it for.

deb sorry you're poorly but glad you've got baby jail/sheep pen too - edie quite likes hers and giggles when I put her in it.

bdq I do think it will be better back at work - I don't have chocolate biscuits handy there that I happen to walk past any time I am in the kitchen.

essie well said re natural childbirth -and glad you feel better re the counselling thing. you won't regret it (I've lost count of essions I have spent on work - I started going originally to cope with losing the baby but has evolved since then)

ah that is very annoying re your report...

right I may well compose a letter to nct - given straw poll on here (and to be fair to my nct teacher who is now a friend she wasnt preachy but is

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 21:49

is what Poppy Don't leave us hanging like that

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 21:50

Yes I was lmao at pint of sick too!!!

poppy34 · 02/03/2009 21:52

oh god my gnat like brain/mac strikes again..she is probably in the minority in terms of her open minded approach to teaching and is one of those people who has a genuine rapport/love for children.

dh has come home having hurt his foot in the gym -thats what you get for being too keen on fitness.

also made some very crude comments along the line of how I shouldn't need an epidural on account of his side (why is there not a rolling your eyes in the manner of hattie jacques type emoticon).

poppy34 · 02/03/2009 21:55

oh god -he is booking deep purple tickets . its bad enough that edie spent 9 months kicking along to dad rock in the womb without this kind of indoctrination now she is here....

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 21:57

lol - how old IS your DH Poppy

DebInAustria · 02/03/2009 21:58

Neenz - forgot to say how the dt's don't feel too poorly with the chicken pox, it's going round here too and i'm half hoping Ethan will get it now rather than when he's older , but no spots yet. The older 2 have both had it.

Amber - I'm sorry but I laughed out loud about your poor upper lip, hope it's gone down by tomorrow

Poppy - haven't head a baby jail before but we've got open plan living space and boys who leave a trail of tiny lego wherever they go so it was essential this time

I used fertility friend to chart temp and EWM when trying to conceive Ethan , I monitored for a couple of months then went for it and we were very lucky in the 1st month!I think Nigel was disappointed that we didn't need to try for longer!

Rolf I have no will power at all at the moment and am eating such rubbish, you have motivated me to weigh myself tomorrow and start my food diary again.

josey · 02/03/2009 21:59

ouch Amber, thank fk you didnt do your lady garden nothing worse than a burnt fanjo, well apart from a burt upper lip, you could tell fibs that you had a huge sesh with your DH and its stubble rash.

I was tempted to shave a pattern into mine today cause Im sure the Nurse at the surgery is as bored as I am of her looking at my crotch!

Oh Rolf great Idea re the weighing.

Debs hope eye clears up, Oli always had snot eye, generally because she spews all over her face and in her eyes so regularly

Poppy lo at Polish Vodka, never tried it before but if thats how it makes you feel I will make a mental note to pass.

poppy34 · 02/03/2009 22:07

josey yes do pass on it - I think I did feel worse than having edie..if only I'd had an epidural. whats worse I had to fly home still worrying I was going to be sick (I was being sick every half an hour ... it was not good).

neenzhe is teh oldest swinger in town (big birthday this year)... november 14th we'll be air guitaring with the best of them. although I am rusty on my dad rock knowledge but aren't half of deep purple dead (its not the kind of question I want to ask out loud as I'd like to go to bed some time before midnight ).

deb fingers crossed we're as lucky. and can see that ethan/lego would not be a good mix.

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 22:09

lmao at Josey and Poppy too! Don't know anything about Deep Purple but I am sure you will enjoy it!

pureeandpearls · 02/03/2009 22:19

LOL at Poppy Amber and Josey.....the hysteria is setting in som I'm off to bed. I have taken you at your word re: ttc thread though Poppy!!!!

AliandHerScallywag · 02/03/2009 22:22

You lot are funny. There is nothing I can add. Night, night.

Essie3 · 02/03/2009 22:24

Ladies, you're the best, you've made me laugh so much! Rolf with that delightful lentil metaphor and Amber on epidurals...who needs counselling! I'm so glad I admitted to my worries, though, because you've helped so much. Aberdeen it's exactly as you describe, great work (research) but not so perfect circumstances. But don't get me started on journal styles...wait, I will send you a gift on facebook just now.

Rolf I've seen a photo of you on facebook, and really, you describe yourself as a giant elephant woman, but you're not, you're normal! I'm being complimentary, honest. I've come to terms with my squashy tummy now. Iestyn keeps banging his head on it and I've decided it would be unfair - nay, child cruelty - for me to develop my abs to become a corset of steel around my waist. (I'm using the word 'waist' quite loosely there. Which is how I wear mine...)

May I also say that Poppy - if you can use an epilator on your fisherman's beard (love the description!) then darling, you have no use for an epidural. God, woman, you must have the pain tolerance of a rockface!!

OP posts:
josey · 03/03/2009 07:13

OMG have you seen the nutters on the news at Aberdeen Airport!!! All over the golf course which wont touch the bloody sand dunes that dogs are aloud to shit on anyway[shit].

Essie glad we made you feel better, this place is a heven when you feel depressed, its escapisim at its best

Just to lower the tone for one last time then I promise to behave, I saw bloke in our villiage on friday who had a beard which resembled a sack load of lady garden trimings stuck to the end of his chin, it was also about 2ft long and just on his chin,I did wonder if he snuck into my bathroom

Ok Josey promises to be more sensible today, got Olis consultant at 9 so will probably spent the rest of the day in tears!

pureeandpearls · 03/03/2009 07:34

((((hugs))))Josey. Hope your day is better than expected. (and the airport raiders are bonkers....not snowing where you are?)

Essie- LOL at the steel-waist thing. I may follow your lead as nine months of training have done nothing for my flabby underbelly. Quite demoralising really. Of course if I got pregnant again I wouldn't have to worry about it for another nine months

Some sanctimonious cow has just emailed BBC breakfast news about epidurals and said that 'women expect childbirth to be painful therefore it is....women are designed to give birth. They don't need epidurals.' To which my response would be: F@ck Off. We were designed to walk without shoes yet most of us use them. And now epidurals are too expensive for the NHS? FFS- better start saving because I will TOTALLY be having one next time round.

And that's all I have to say about that. [P&P slinks from the room in hr grubby dressing gown to go and get breakfast.]

abdnhiker · 03/03/2009 07:45

josey I hope the consultant goes ok - you've got me starting my day in tears of laughter! Rolf, amber, and poppy aren't helping either.

We're so tired at the moment that DH completely forgot to go to a very important work meal out last night. F**k. It'll be okay but we're trying to wrangle a full-time job instead of his contract status and we'e a bit frustrated with ourselves for forgetting a shmoozing opportunity.

I have a frenemy coming by today - she's always very righteous about her parenting decisions and that type of intollerance drives me batty.

abdnhiker · 03/03/2009 07:55

The thing about being "designed for birth" is that we are, as a race, designed to reproduce our numbers. However, hat includes a significant amount of wastage due to death. People get confused about population levels vs. individuals when they start spouting crap like that. And why shouldn't birth hurt? Where's the evolutionary harm in it? It's not like cave woman had a reliable birth control to avoid birth as an unpleasant experience....

oh and I'm a bit concerned about how I'm going to get my hands on another bottle of medised now. I thought i was set as DS1 is almost three (and he's the one I use it on actually - I'm a calprofen girl for DS2). Will try to find a sensible pharmacist next week...

spongebrainbigpants · 03/03/2009 08:59

Morning all! Have been chuckling along to all the mad posts!

Had a bit of a stressful weekend as started bleeding on Friday night. Didn't post blow by blow account cos don't want to become a pg bore ! But ended up back at EPU yesterday for repeat HCg test (still waiting for results).

Bleeding has stopped and I feel as sick as a dog this morning so fingers crossed.

Sorry for egocentric post, can't really think about much else at the moment but I am lurking .

systemsaddict · 03/03/2009 09:37

Oh how scary sponge. Please never feel you can't post on here, we all want to be there for you if the support would help!! Fingers crossed the bleeding was just normal early pregnancy stuff. Glad you're feeling sick!

I initially gave myself a 'nine months on, nine months off' goal for the weight; but as soon as I started losing weight in earnest my milk supply tailed right off so I'm stuck with it till she weans. (Or at least till she's 1, when I might decide she doesn't need the milk that much anyway.)

But I am extremely squishy. I was gutting my wardrobe last week, trying on tops, in a 'can I still get away with wearing this' sort of way. Ds looked at me and said 'Mummy! LOOK at your boobs!' reasonable enough as I am in saggy nursing bra, but then 'Mummy! LOOK at your BIG TUMMY!' That top's going to the charity shop then ....

Five minutes later he was all 'Mummy? Are you beautiful? You ARE beautiful!' though, so I forgave him
