Hello everyone! ataraxis, dizzy - really beautiful photos. Happy Saturday evening to all. I need to go and take a box of DH's junk important papers to the storage space we have in the basement, and then will eat some icecream and watch the West Wing. Hurrah.

TwilightSurfer · 21/02/2009 23:41

OOF that took and hour...

Pertelote {{{{{HUGS}}}}}}..i just might give those to you and Marianne everyday until the surgery.

ABLS sounds like you and Expectant could use a little {{hug}} too. Here's an odd suggestion. I know this isn't medical or anything but when I'm really really low I have to use music. I'm really bad about putting on my earphones and singing at the top of my lungs for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Best to do in the car with the doors shut and windows rolled up.

Captain YIPPEEE!!! I am so happy for you. A new house for the new year.

VG let me just say you are awesome for letting ds1 get out and about on his own. I remember my first outing like that all-by-myself. My dad dropped me downtown. I walked and shopped for 6 blocks, had lunch, caught the bus out of town to our local mall, where I phoned my aunt to pick me up on her way home from work. The whole experience lasted about 4 hours and I felt AMAZING. I think I was 12 or 13 at the time.

Longway, we've had a few warm days here but just dipped back into winter after a big storm on Thursday. ARRGGHHH!

Sazzles I am glad you finally got a referral for dd1. On the probiotics issue her poo will change slightly for the first few days (usually it is more runny though) as the good stuff sets up in her stomach. I too clean the skirting boards with babywipes.

Oops nice news about your trainer session and what a lovely date.

No1 & Cyteen at your feedings. Poor Reese only had a little sunnybunny so far today (that's fresh juiced carrot, apple & orange).

Buckets please do keep us updated on your status. It's a wonderful thing to cleanse internally...you really don't realize how your body gets bogged down inside.

PF if you have IBS you should be taking probiotics to help you regulate your insides

Dizzy that was very sweet of your father. I like the YOU in your pic.

Night All
Will do a me me me post in a little while.

TwilightSurfer · 22/02/2009 00:11

As for weaning today I will add that I gave Reese some baby food while I was catching up. She ate a mac-n-cheese-veggie blend AND LOVED IT. I then got really brave and put 2oz of formula in a sippy cup...which she drank from nicely. She actually thought the cup was funny. At one point she did a rasberry instead of sip and blew milk all over her face. I will be attempting to do better on the feeding front now that she is OFFICIALLY 6 months {{twilight looks around for pitchfork ladies from that other thread}}.

DH underwent the snip-snip on Friday. He said it felt like he'd been kicked in the balls really really hard. He's basically rested for the last 24 hours and only taken some OTC pain meds. At present he's smoking up my kitchen because he thinks he's the new TOP CHEF. He bit my head off when I tried to explain that real butter doesn't do so well on HIGH heat.

DD1 has reached a whole new level of off her rocker. She fussed for 9 hours straight yesterday. I attempted to take her to school but after 20 minutes I reloaded her in the truck. Afterwhich she threw her tennis shoe at me mid drive home. Later that day I phoned her peditrician to say I was ready for drugs!!!! Her pediatrician personally phoned me back around 8pm last night and had a very long talk with me. He's really a sweet guy and probably got a good laugh about the whole thing after he hung up. Needless to say, I am going to take dd1 to therapy. He made one good point...it's going to hopefully be better for us that she's going through this stage now instead of the teen years. HE BETTER BE RIGHT otherwise I see boarding school in her future.

On the KITCHEN front (dun duna dunnnnnn) I don't have pics I want to share YET. The granite worktops look fabulous and the new DEEP sink and TALL water faucet is INCREDIBLE. I'm waiting until the travertine floors are installed (march 2-4) before I do the unveiling. I don't think I'll have a chance to paint but at least the biggest part of the job will be complete. Sadly I have reached the bottom of my budget for this year (and dipped into our beach trip money). That means I have to STOP. Oh and my master bedroom was recarpeted on Friday. It is now covered in a white sand colored berber. NICE!

I think that catches everyone up with Me Me Me Me .

TS - glad the refurb is going so well.
It's good that you have a strong relationship with your paediatrician and encouraging DD1 to talk can only be a good thing. DS was a total ball of anger from 2 until 4, and has grown into himself since then. I think not all small children are great at the being small and having little control stage of their lives ...

All the photos are fab by the way ... Dizzy -that pic is incredibly small so it's very tricky to see you. I keep forgetting to say that I need your paypal email address to pay you for the how to talk book so if you could send me that on FB I will settle my debts.

I've still got relative hovering in the aftermath of the christening which is lovely, but I really don't want to cook another vaguely impressive dinner for 10, with a very niggly post-jabs baby to keep happy. Peace should set in next week.

Pertolete-it's good to know all our good wishes are helping. One thing that came to me today: on Child in our Time a few years ago (the Robert Winston childhood-tracking programme) they copied some research on children's reactions to a SCBU unit. The toddlers who had never been treated in that kind of unit were frightened, but the ones who had been treated, even in their first days, were incredibly comfortable and felt very safe in that space even though their parents still found the unit a traumatic place to visit.

Every best wish to Expectant and Albs too. The support here is unconditional as everyone else has said ...

I can't string sentences together, but you have all been in my thoughts and I wanted to say hello before going to bed.

Glad DS enjoyed his foray VG, and glad too he is safe home.

hotterpotter · 22/02/2009 09:22

Morning all. Looks like breakfast is down to me again, how about sausages with dippy egg?

Sibh I can't believe you still have relatives there you must have the patience of a saint. Sometimes I bemoan the fact that Mum, MIL and Grandma all live less than 15 miles away, (MIL only 3 ) and we seem to see them all the time, but at least there is no need for staying over . I do love my MIL but two hours of her is about all I can bear.

TS and PF well done to your DHs on braving the surgeons knife. I keep mentioning to my DH that as he is the one so dead set against any more DC that perhaps he should do the decent thing and relieve me from contraceptive duty but he just changes the subject

TS I'm sorry to hear that your DD1 is still being challenging. Hopefully the therapy will help. I really think also that the arrival of new siblings can have a deeper and more long-lasting effect than expected. My DD is still having quite a few jealousy issues with DS although she loves him to bits. It is getting worse at the moment too as he is getting mobile and also I am feeding him proper food, he is taking more attention and she definitely minds. Do you think that might have anything to do with it?

Sazzles at renting your house out for the Gold Cup, I hope you get squillions of pounds and tidy tenants . How's DD1's rash? Sounds like it has been awful, fingers crossed it's really going now.

Yay Oops your anniversary treat sounds lovely. Have never been to the IOW but have always fancied it. It's a year of big numbers for us this year, I'm 40, DH 45, we have been married 5 years but together 15 (hells bells ), I am holding out for a Mediterranean holiday in September.

Ann did you have naan burritos? Would you repeat the experience?

Breakfast ready, back later...

alittlebitshy · 22/02/2009 10:29

morning;

dd and i had a girly day out at Bluewater, shopping / cinema/ eating with a friend of mine. twas lovely to have dd all to myself

got to get ready for church now, but wnated to touch base and say thanks for all the positive thought. Not taken any of the anti-dep's yet - argh! wimp!

hotterpotter · 22/02/2009 10:31

Also meant to say, Ataraxis your DC look lovely

Dizzy that's cheating putting up such a tiny picture! You say there's a photo of you on facebook from 2000, what about the one from Elaine and Mackie's wedding last year? If it's not you then there's some pregnant blonde woman cuddling your DH and DDs . You (and your family) look lovely, although I really pictured you with dark hair in my mind. I remember the tribulations you had trying to find something to wear, looks fab!

It's very quiet here without DD. I miss her very much but it's actually nice just to have one DC for a little while

Off out in the garden again, have fun all

hotterpotter · 22/02/2009 10:33

Hey Albs, have a lovely time at church .

poppysocks · 22/02/2009 10:49

Morning ladies. Gorgeous morning here. Spring may be on it's way?

Sorry to disappear the other night Dizzy. DB called and then it was to late and then it was the morning etc. etc. How are the throat and teeth now?

Lots of lovely photos ataraxis and dizzy. Our aim for the weekend is to get a nice one of the girls together. STILL haven't managed to get one of them BOTH smiling. May even put it on the old profile...

pertelote - How are you feeling today, now that the news of the date has sunk in? I can't even imagine what it must be like for you, but does it help that it's soon? That the end of this phase is close and soon you'll be able to get on with your lives with M totally healthy? Will certainly be thinking of you lots next Thursday. And wishing I could have said all of that in VG's style. Have to admit that that post had me in tears too.

Sazzles - your cleaning scares me a bit. We plan to let our house out for the Open next year but have been ignoring how much work it would be to get it up to par (ho,ho) for a bunch of golfers paying silly ££££.

hotter - it seems that we too have an older sister who's taken a while to accept/react to the arrival of a new DC. It's funny that it's taken so long, but I'm sure it is that with ours. Glad you have such a good (and available!) paediatrician TS. After another couple of bad days at the end of last week, culminating in the confiscation of DD1's current favourite DVD (Babe), she has been more gorgeous than ever since.

Right, off for now. Wandering into town to meet DH and DD1 from Church and off for brunch. Have been SO shattered though the last few days (in bed by 9.30pm last night - totally unheard of for me). Also feeling nauseous a lot too so would be grateful for anymore reassurance on the irregularity of periods while bf....

PetitFilou1 · 22/02/2009 11:15

dizzy In that case I guess yes just more patience required (thatiswhyIhateweaning emoticon)

TS I am loving your kitchen.

The way your dh describes the snip is exactly what my dh said. Then he said it ached for a long time - a good few days - afterwards. Maybe I just haven't given him enough time yet.

PetitFilou1 · 22/02/2009 11:17

dizzy HOW small is that photo of you and dh? Are you afraid we're all going to turn to stone if we see your face?

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 22/02/2009 11:41

Poppy - is there a chance????

TwilightSurfer · 22/02/2009 12:47

PF I am sympathetic towards my DH for his uncomfortable situation BUT I have reminded him more than once that it does not compare to my CS. I think that's why his complaining is minimal....He's just taking one for the TEAM!!
