Hello ladies.

Pull up a chair, grab a biscuit and lets start talking about puree vs blw and sleep deprivation

aaaw, ninja thats really sweet of your DH to say that. At least he'll be raring to go when you're ready .

ninja · 04/03/2009 20:51

I guess it is quite sweet - although he's not the one getting up 6 times in the night!!

becaroo · 04/03/2009 21:39

Someone has recommended something called "teetha granules" for Tobys teething woes....has anyone tried them and where would I get them from???

I shouted at ds1 tonight because he wasnt listening and I am sooo tired - he called me "mrs angrypants"!!!!!!!!! Little monkey

SnowlightMcKenzie · 04/03/2009 21:52

LOL The not listening drives me MAD.

DS was picking bits of dried weetabix out of his discarded bib and I tried to engage him in a spontaneous pots and pans band.

I was sitting on the floor banging away and he was acting completely deaf

Why do I bother?

ninja · 04/03/2009 22:09

becaroo - they're a homeopathic powder and I'm pretty certain boots have them.

I know the not listening too - dd1 makes it a fine art.

Just realised my last post could be taken the wrong way.

Hopefully · 05/03/2009 07:51

My DP does the not listening thing! Although on the plus side i rarely have to try to distract him with saucepan drums...

becaroo I've seen teetha granules in boots, waitrose and (I think) sainsbury's.

T slept 6 hours last night again! Hooray! 2 nights in a row! Made me feel a bit better as my mother's been telling me he's starving and that as far as she's concerned I'm being cruel sticking to guidelines and not weaning him yet . I was really starting to believe her too.

Hopefully · 05/03/2009 07:53

I obviously mean a 6 hour block, then feeding, then sleeping again, not 6 hours all night. He did feed every 90 mins from 4am-7am, but that's fine.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/03/2009 08:30

Grrr

Too many wakings last night and the one before. Now she's fast asleep , but I'm up with DS.

lollipopmother · 05/03/2009 09:02

I had a brilliant night on Tues night but last night was a disaster, DP snoring on one side and DD snoring louder on the other! She was horribly bunged up, which was really bad for feeding and kept waking up unable to breathe I think. She seems to be fine all day when she sleeps and then snores at night. Last night was a whole other level though.

lollipopmother · 05/03/2009 09:03

Imo - How is swimming going?

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/03/2009 09:04

Jenbot How is C?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 09:40

Not the best of my b-day yesterday.. DP forgot, well, he remembered before leving for work, but DS prompted him; DD didn't sleep during the day, then we ordered a take away as I wasn't well and couldn't be bothered cooking, DP and DS went to pick it up, but s.one had picked up our order by mistake, so they had to wait another 30 mins, then got home and half of it was wrong so he had to go back and change it (we don't do take aways often, but guess even less after last night!)... trying to eat but DD was restless and overtired, put DCs to bed and remembered I'd forgotten to get the cake out (one of DS's favourites too, and he doesn't really eat cakes - he remembered this morning), so I had my b-day cake very late last night. And then DD woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep, on our bed, with DP insisting on turning to his side so there was the big draft.... aaaarrrrrrggggghhh, sorry 'bout the rant...

anyway, to the sling users - DP's getting me a mei tai for my b-day - shoudl I go for a padded straps one like the babyhawk, or for a wide unpadded straps one like the chinado?

Pacita · 05/03/2009 11:46

Happy brithday, sunflower, sorry it didn't all work as planned...

I'm very jealous about the mai-tai, though, they look gorgeous. Could not tell you what type of strap is the best, but you can bet Foxy will!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/03/2009 12:00

I only have the babyhawk, and so far I've been very happy with it.

imoscarsmum · 05/03/2009 13:00

lollipopmother waterbabies has not gone well. We've not re-booked for another term. We switched to hydrotherapy pool, despite an hour's drive and late pm lessons, and it made a bit of a difference but after 20mins she starts to wail. We have one lesson left. TBH, I'll be glad when it's over cos I now dread it (and i'm sure she's picking it up but can't help it). Took her to my local baby pool and she loved it. No tears at all. So think I'll take what we've learnt and practise at local pool at times good for us.
I've basically paid £110 to comfort my baby in a pool!! Hey ho, live & learn etc. Luckily it's the only thing we've done that has been awful. She's such a happy baby otherwise.

imoscarsmum · 05/03/2009 13:02

And after months of good sleeping, think C is getting ready to wean as she woke at 5am yesterday and 6am today. I know that would be fab for alot of you, so not gloating, but very unlike C - only a week and a half to go until the big W!!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/03/2009 13:04

Yay! Baby Starlight can sit unaided for a few minutes until she topples onto her nose!

DebiTheScot · 05/03/2009 13:37

Yay baby starlight. Does she have the uncanny knack of falling over onto the only object near her no matter which side of her it's on? That's what ds2 does. In fact I think things gravitate towards him just for him to fall onto.

Shattered here as ds1 was up all night being sick. Thankfully dh got up with him everytime to leave me to deal with ds2 who was disturbed a bit by dh going back and forwards.

Hopefully · 05/03/2009 14:31

I've just put together the tripp trapp, which arrived this morning! Very exciting. I'm going to start plonking T in it before his lunchtime nap (which is currently a fairly non-existant nap, but we'll gloss over that) and see what he does with some food in front of him.
Will be so nice to be able to have him at a sensible level to play with as well - I'm bored of squatting on the floor! His sitting's not bad (anything from 10 secs to 3 mins before gently keeling over), but I guess it will be a while before he can be in it for more than a few minutes at a time without getting tired.

Unfortunately the beginning of decent night time sleeping seems to have meant the end of decent day time napping. Ho hum.

Jenbot · 05/03/2009 14:35

Hello carriebo and snowlight - conclusion seems to be... it's just one of those things but keep an eye out for signs of dehydration.

I'm not going to give her her vitamins til she's pooping normally I think though. Stick with breastmilk for now.

ninja you're more of a worrier than me, you went to the drs because there was poo in the nappy? ;)

ninja · 05/03/2009 16:15

oooops Jenpot I did mean blood - honest!!

Hopefully · 05/03/2009 20:47

Bad mummy alert. T just had a complete hissy fit, wouldn't go down, so we eventually managed to rock him to sleep in the pram. I came back into the room just now and noticed that DP has blood all over his shirt shoulder where he was holding T . We also prised the muslin out of his mouth (he always goes to sleep with it in his mouth) and there's loads of splodges of blood over that too. No idea what he's done or how he's done it. Guess he banged his lip on DP's shoulder or something, but we feel awful for not noticing, and getting so stressed with him for not going down when he was in pain.

Put him in his high chair earlier and plonked a slice of pear in front of him - he went straight for it, but couldn't pick it up! I now know what you all mean about finding something with a rim for them to push against to pick things up.

imoscarsmum · 05/03/2009 20:51

Poor T - it's easily done Hopefully don't feel guilty. just take a look at the thread on the home page about what our parents used to do!!

Qn - do i remind DP about my first ever mother's day or do I pray/hope he remembers and at least arranges something? He's a bit of a workaholic and whilst i know he'd be mortified to forget it, he may well do just that.
I'd rather not mention it and give him the chance to surprise me (which he is capable of), but I will be so upset if he forgets. Dilemma!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/03/2009 21:52

hopefully - don't feel guilty, it happens... and unfortunately, it won't be the last time you'll feel like this...
DD doesn't like bananas - she goes "bah"

plusonemore · 05/03/2009 21:56

want to kknow my bad mummy story?

Yesterday left Alfie on sofa as i have done lots of times, propped on V shaped pillow with long bit of pillow going down side of sofa so cant roll off. Was gone for a minute. When I came back he was face down on sofa, had obviously managed to sit up and carried on going forwards! He was fine but it scared me, he could have gone off sofa. Will always be leaving him on floor from now on as he cant fall off that! (He must have great tummy muscles though! )
