Hello ladies.

Pull up a chair, grab a biscuit and lets start talking about puree vs blw and sleep deprivation

LOL

I'm having a good night run at the moment Long may it last!

Hopefully · 26/02/2009 09:25

Although actually, our nights really haven't been too bad the last couple of nights - he's woken at approx 11pm, 3am and 6am for feeds, and not woken inbetween. I'm hoping as he begins to feel a bit better that they'll all get a teensy bit later, and the 6am feed will become his 7am feed at the start of the day

imoscarsmum · 26/02/2009 12:47

Wayhay! Had a first here today! I put Charlotte on floor in a seated position and let go and she sat unaided!!! Sounds awful the way I put it, I've been moving my hands away a fraction of an inch ready to catch her when she falls sideways but today she didn't fall!
Proud mummy.
She also sat in her pushchair in the lounge and seemed to love it (It has 3 recline positions, one almost flat, so think the pram base has had its day [sob - time going by too fast]).
Then had a good old bawl at 'This Morning's' phone in about child bereavement.

I know some of you are having challenging days (& nights) and please forgive me as I can't remember all details/names (been busy to catch up properly) but am thinking of you all.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/02/2009 13:00

Well done Charlotte what a clever girl. M is on his way to sitting unaided aswell, although he loves to throw himself backwards with quite a force

I have found out why I have been a miserable old bitch and why I've been finding it hard to get up for the night feeds. My iron is low, so I'll be chugging the spatone until I feel better.

imoscarsmum Wow! Charlotte is so clever sitting up. My DD is still very wobbly when I prop her up.

Well, after arranging childcare and changing DS's first ever dentists appointment (which I was looking forward to!) I went to the hospital to see the consultant about my cervix, and they had given me the wrong appointment (consultant was on holiday) . The nurse was so apologetic and was cursing the appointments team for being useless, she is going to get me another appointment when the consultant is in. Feck.

I am going to spend the afternoon doing my filing, got to find all my payslips to help calculate the working tax credits, what fun!

DebiTheScot · 26/02/2009 14:01

oh no what a nightmare meglet, thats such a pain. I had my smear this morning, don't know what I was making so much of a fuss about, it hurts more getting your blood pressure taken.

imoscarsmum well done Charlotte, I'm sure you'll find she's sitting for ages really soon. DS2 seems to have gone from being very wobbly when sitting to able to sit for quite a while (as long as he doesn't reach sideways at all for something) within about a week.

Wondering whether to bring back the late feed here too as ds2 is still waking shortly after we've gone to bed anyway so if I woke him at least it'd get it over with rather than me lying there waiting for him to wake up.

Just eaten a packet of Chilli and Chocolate crisps, they're quite tasty.

Meglet · 26/02/2009 14:08

yay! Well done for geeting your smear debi. It's over so fast it's not so bad is it?

I was a bit annoyed about having my appointment today as my legs & bikini line are very very unwaxed, at least I can get them done before I do see the consultant [shallow bimbo emoticon]

Hopefully · 26/02/2009 14:13

What a pain Meglet!
Urgh, smears. I am too terrified to go for mine - haven't so much as put a tampon in since giving birth (3rd degree tear, doc agrees it's slightly too tightly stitched), so no idea when/how I'm going to manage a smear.

Impressed with the sitting Imoscarsmum (well, Charlotte, rather than you. I'm sure you can sit ). T will sometimes sit for up to 30 seconds unsupported, but if he gets distracted and turns his head he keels over and I have to catch him!

We have been free form on the routine front for the past week while T has been ill (he kept doing very short sleeps, with the odd insanely long one thrown in, and it seemed unfair to wake him while ill), and I hate it! I'm so glad he's a bit better today and I can begin to get us back on track with the routine tomorrow. I am so rubbish at being baby led! Although seriously contemplating BLW, as I am too lazy to make purees, and only have 2.5 weeks to do so. Going to get annabel karmel and BLW woman book out of library and probably end up with something in the middle.

Hopefully · 26/02/2009 14:18

OMG, I just spread some leftover cream cheese icing from a cake the other day (like you get on the top of carrot cake) on a couple of freshly made ginger biscuits. It was sooooo yummy. I want more!

DebiTheScot · 26/02/2009 14:25

you're so domesticated hopefully (not sure if that's the right word, it maybe sounds a bit patronising), marshmallows, muffins, cakes, ginger biscuits, I'm jealous!

imoscarsmum · 26/02/2009 16:19

Thanks for the congrats, have passed them onto C
V jealous of cream cheese - am now on major diet. DP's first DD (almost 19) has just told us she and fiance are bringing wedding forward to this August (she's not pregnant - i did ask!), so I need to lose 3 stone by then . I have never met her mum (DP's ex) as she blames me for their breakup and we got quite a few hate phone calls in the early days, so i need to feel my best when i do see her.

And Hopefully we're set to wean in 2 and a bit weeks - the Saturday before she's 6 months on the Tuesday. Highchair arrived today!
I can't be faffed to puree and I like BLW but like you it'll be a compromise - anything liquidy that I would use a spoon for myself(eg porridge), I'll feed her myself, the rest she can do BLW.

plusonemore · 26/02/2009 17:17

met someone else who's health visitor told them to wean at 4 months, quote "he's hungry dear", mostly because he is still waking 2 or 3 times in the night and surprise surprise still not sleeping any better!!

plusonemore · 26/02/2009 17:28

whose

notcitrus · 26/02/2009 17:39

yeah plus - the rest of my antenatal class have been giving their babes food for a month or two (all a week to a month older than A), and say it didn't help sleep at all, certainly not for a few weeks until they started eating a lot of it.

A can't sit at all but is starting to look mildly interested in food. He played with a chunky chip over the weekend and was most startled to get a mouthful of potato when he squashed it!

He slept pretty well last night when auntie was here to look after him if needed. So I'm sure tonight when it's just me he'll be hellspawnish...

Debs75 · 26/02/2009 17:50

Sorry to hear about the poorly children and hope they are feeling better soon. My Mum sais i caught every cold and bug going when i was a baby including a scary bout of whooping ciough due to not having all my injections. She say's although it is scary when they are so young it is easier then if they were 3 or 4. I know i panicked when dd1 caught flu at 9 months old. SHE went off all food and we were told if she doesn't drink tonight take her to hospital.

Good girl Charlotte! Robyn is way too wobbly at the moment. She is however trying to sit up out of her carseat. It already is quite an upright seat and is more back then legs iykwim. Was hoping i could keep her in it after 9 months as she is so petite i think it will be ages before she gets to the weight limit. What do you think?

Went to ikea to get the highseat today. We were in there 3 hours, mostly looking at kitchens. Found loads of nice stuff for the dcs rooms but didn't have any room in car after getting a huge bookcase/room divider for a tenner instead of £70

becaroo · 26/02/2009 18:38

Announcement..........drum roll........

Toby has cut his first tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, bit of an anti climax after the build up, but hey! my baby is teething! Here come the sleepless nights and biting

Taking him to be weighed tomorrow - going to tell everyone about my clever baby and his little toofypeg

becaroo · 26/02/2009 18:40

oh, and well done charlotte...you are very clever too!

lollipopmother · 26/02/2009 18:52

Sorry, not been on MN much recently so completely lost my place in the thread so haven't read the recent pages.

16 days til BLW for us, not really looking forwards to losing the breastfeeding, I know that she will still be having milk but it'll decrease and I know i'll miss it and the simplicity of it. Def will be doing BLW though, purees fill me with dread!

I'm thinking of becoming a child minder ..... hmmm, did I just say that?!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 26/02/2009 19:29

Please could you

vote for me here

if you're happy to.

Thanks.

digitalgirl · 26/02/2009 19:41

Haven't had a chance to catch up yet, but just wanted to say Pacita is one glamorous mama! Met her and Diego today and he is a cutie!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 26/02/2009 19:51

LOL DG I've met Jenbot a couple of times this week and could say the same thing about her and Clara.

Meglet · 26/02/2009 20:00

hmm, well we tried BLW for the first time today. DD waved the broccoli around, dropped it in her lap, tried to eat her bib, then wedged the broccoli in her mouth and sucked her thumb at the same time.

Rome wasn't built in a day was it .

becaroo can't beleive your DS's teeth are coming through already!

Better go, I am famished and have only got some lentil-weavery dish my mum made for me. It looks like cat vomit - I might order pizza.

digitalgirl · 26/02/2009 20:20

meglet sorry to hear you've been faffed around with the hospital. But well done for trying BLW today. A still does the thumb plus food sucking thing and he's nearly three weeks into it. This afternoon he sucked on some orange wedges, really loved it and probably had a bit too much, and then spat out a mouthful of juice/drool.

carriebo hope your DS is on the mend after your scary hospital visit.

starlight I know, I thought I was doing well getting back into my pre-pregnancy fat jeans.

debi sorry, but chilli and chocolate crisps sound disgusting.

Went out with my NCT group last night and had 3 glasses of champagne. unfortunately my booze-soaked BM did not help A sleep any longer. He was up 2 hours after his midnight feed.

Pacita · 26/02/2009 20:33

Hello ladies,

had a really nice day today, which included meeting up with digitalgirl and witnessing Alfredo's amazing food sucking abilities! He happily chomped on some strips of green pepper, red pepper and cabbage, only stopping to drool and to give me lovely toothless grins. What a charmer - ladies of Muswell hill, you better watch out...

So, after seeing BLW in action I fried poor digi with questions - she's a very well informed lady. My resolve is to give Diego food to play with as soon as it's safe allergy wise, given his eczema and stuff.

Other than that, I have one tooth almost out to report. Strangely, it's not one of the front ones, but something that looks like a pre-molar in the lower jaw. It's almost cut through now. Isn't that a bit bizarre?

Here's loads of sleep vibes to all of us.

Pacita · 26/02/2009 20:35

star, it tried to vote for you but either I'm being utterly dense, or the whole thing ended two days ago?
