Steaknife, My Sympathies.

I have a really bad fear of being trapped somewhere but I can't recall ever really having been trapped...other than stuck on top of a damn during rush hour traffic for about an hour or more. I could see my apartment, just walking distance from where I was stuck waiting for traffic to move. Got to watch the sunrise. That was nice. Needless to say I do tend to avoid that stretch of road during rush times now.

Countertop folk just called. I am their FIRST install Monday morning. 8:30AM!!!! YEAH!! It's nice to know the owners. Off to the HOME SHOW this weekend. All the local craftsmen show what they can do to remodel (etc) your home. I'm SO EXCITED!!

VG nice job on the VDay gifts. I like when I can enjoy the gifts as well.

Sorry about your Nan Steaky but hey, I'm sure she'd be chuffed for you to combine your trip with a Mumsnet meetup - whereabouts will you be?

Anyone else's kids been extra tired/emotional this week? I think half terms must be scientifically worked out for the exact tolerance a child has for school. DS1 has thrown a wobbly every day after pre-school and put himself to bed at 6.30. Mind you his wobblies are soooo much improved these days it's water off a duck's back to me, even in a public place with a baby in tow. Can't believe it's the same child I was worrying about a year ago, there were so many things we couldn't do/go to, the world has become a much bigger place for me.

On subject of DS1, was speaking to mum of one of his pre-school 'friends' and she said her DD has especially chosen him for an invitation to her birthday party! My heart leapt! Mind, she is a selective mute so perhaps she finds his apathy reassuringly non-threatening.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:05

VG am sure its great I haven't done anything and probably won't now

oops right there with you, I have a lovely big bar of AERO bubble but if TS is listening thats a diet chocolate as it has more air in it than chocolate

TS I cannot believe how quickly you're getting everything done over here it would take fecking weeks to achieve what you've managed to do

girls now down but DD2 is kicking at the walls and I'm very slowly but surely getting my back up about it so am thinking words will be had sooner rather than later

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 13/02/2009 21:09

Thanks for the kind words ladies.

Nan was in Tavistock, S Devon. Mum in Devon still and big bros west of London so I am trying to work out whether tis better to fly to Bristol or to London. I think London cos BA have kept the Marseille/Gatwick route and you get proper food with them. Otherwise it is sleazyjet, who aren't always cheaper anyway.

I'm also trying to work out how I can get to see my dad and rescue my winter clothes from his loft without seeming shallow.

oops ooh fishnchips. [drool emoticon]

sambo303triesforScotland · 13/02/2009 21:12

just about to book tickets for slumdog tomorrow afternoon showing - but balked at £18.10, have agreed with dp we'll just have a meal and a stroll and order the film from our dvd delivery thingy as we get 3 films per month. Money is soooo boring , why do we not yet get year long stat mat pay.

Had a positive outcome from my nct campaign letter to john lewis asking them to reconsider the bottle symbol as signage for baby feeding - got an email saying they are redoing all signage to show a pic of a baby with the words 'baby feeding' underneath. probably not as a result of my letter to the head cheese , but nontheless, feels good

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:12

oh Buckets thats lovely about DS' party

TwilightSurfer · 13/02/2009 21:13

Buckets....it's true LOVE. DD1 and another of my friend's dcs are the same way. Both have their issues with everyone but each other. Very nice.

Dizzy, my girlfriend said the same thing today. I think if I'd "planned" the blasted remodel it would have taken months but since I'm flying by the seat of my pants selecting items on whim it's worked to my benefit. Also, if something's not available I just find something different. An easy thing to do when you don't have a plan in the first place.

Sazzles, you're just plain strange. LOL...missing the smell of BF poo.

TwilightSurfer · 13/02/2009 21:15

Good Job Sambo. I bet it was your note that made them make the change.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:19

Sazz completely understand about the poop smell

although we had lunch with friends of ours who also have 3 and when the Dh's were out of the room she turned to me and asked me if I still wanted a 4th? I said yes that I'd always wanted 4 kids and hadn't changed my mind

she's always been determined 3 and no more but apparently she's changing her mind

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 13/02/2009 21:19

I have just looked at Ryanair - the seat for me would be 15 quid and for Izzy, who would be sitting on my lap as they don't allow you to book a seat for infants would be 20 quid, plus all the taxes and surcharges.
Do you think they just don't want babies on their flights?

BA is 3 quid for the baby plus taxes but you can book a seperate seat, I am phoning tomorrow to find out how much it is. Mind you it is only an hour and half flight.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:22

steaky ryanair don't let you book a seperate seat for babies which is a right PITA because it would be cheaper in some of their special deals AND although baby in lap for take off and landing you'd have more room during the flight

have no idea how they work tbh and still hate them for upsetting the lovely VG!

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 13/02/2009 21:23

MAybe I'll get Sambo to draft a stongly worded letter to Mr Ryanair. From what I've seen in the news he seems a bit of an arse though. Aren't they the folks that had the stewardesses do a calendar in their scanties?

petitfilowersandchocolates · 13/02/2009 21:25

no1 Glad you got Marcus checked out. We're all keeping our beady eyes on him here...

at 'friend' on fb - as others have said, get shot of her comment and her.

Just been out for two vodka and tonics with the ladies of the village. Quite scary. They've all gone off for a meal now but I was excused as Toby is waking during the night. I was never one for 'girls nights out' I miss the male contingent and much prefer a mixed group.

Toby ate a whole pot of sweet potato and squash this evening. You'd think I'd been starving the poor boy. Seeing as he seems highly enamoured with puree I'm not going to stress too much about BLW but will give him a bit of both.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:25

he doesn't care about the complaints, he can apparently still make enough money without having to try to keep everyone sweet

ah, customer services is something to be proud of these days isn't it

Dizzy when we flew from GC to Barcelona the crew let us take on the baby seat and offered to reseat the third person from our row if needed. They were lovely, Izzy was a dream baby and we had more problems from the cat trying to escape.

sazz behave yourself, not even I can work that kind of miracle!! what happened to your couch?

steaky was that with Ryanair? we fly with them into Girona all the time and I find it a complete hit and miss whether or not they're nice with the kids

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 13/02/2009 21:28

Tis why I love the BA people, price of the ticket gets you pre-food drink, food and wine. I was gutted when they sold the short haul bit to sleazyjet.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 21:29

ignoring my fecking emails did you see the link Poppy posted [meep]

tbh the credit card I used is DH's (aren't they all ) and its the only one without internet set up so I can't log on to see if its been refunded so I either have to get DH to phone - no chance - or wait for the statement to thump its way through the door

TwilightSurfer · 13/02/2009 21:30

Sazzs so what are they cleaning with DIAMONDS. I'm not math whiz but that seems a bit STEEP.
