VG Yeah DB still can't a job and refusing to temp for less than x dollars an hour so they really do have no money to their name. DSIL wants to come home we think (is v chirpy, saintly person and has to pussyfoot around ego-bruised DB so messages aren't clear.) Tis a sad, sensitive situation but I decided it's time to spell things out just in case DSIL is really at breaking point (I would be!).

LoveBuckets · 12/02/2009 18:29

LOL, if it were me being served heartshaped dinner I would assume you had a matching ladygarden!

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 19:06

an ex of mine once made me mashed potatos in a heart shape, we were poor students and I thought that was just lovely

DH not particularly romantic so will no doubt get a card from Tesco which will be fine as its either that or he'll forget! now don't get me wrong I don't want anything expensive etc etc even one of those lovely homemade cards would be very well received

its more about the effort made with minimum nagging

steak pie for tea - was fab

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 19:09

S&M - those naps sound good to me. I try to get DD to sleep for a minimum of 2 hours in the day. Usually half hour in the AM, half hour around lunch and an hour in the afternoon - though this is usually out and about.
I try not to let her nap after 4.30 - not too hard most days, and start the bedtime routine at around 6, she is usually tucked up asleep by 7.30 at the latest.

I was thinking of making DH a valentine card and even shaving my legs for a night of passion. But he has been a bit "I've just come back from work and haven't had a minute alone" so all bets are off and definately not going for a hearshaped ladygarden.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 12/02/2009 19:45

Arse. DP didn't get the job That's a lot of time and money down the drain, as well as the obvious disappointment - he really liked the look of it

We are having M&S pies for tea, despite having looked atthe shocking fat/salt/calorie content I can't be arsed with anything but comfort food tonight

Sausageandmash · 12/02/2009 19:55

Cyteen, really sorry about your DP not getting the job (Enjoy the comfort food. Can you have comfort drink as well?)

Thanks PF, Sambo, Buckets, VG and Steaknife for your guidance re: naps. I really thought that maybe I was letting him while away too many hours in blissful slumber, in the day. However, it seems that he was born to wake in the night, and no amount of restructuring our day is going to coax him out of our 1 - 2 hour feed/scream/chat during the wee hours. Hey ho.

Someone mentioned something about 11 lbs and then 13 lbs being milestones towards sleep. Is this a myth? (please tell me it's not - ds has just edged past the 12 lb mark so I'm hanging on for good news).

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 20:04

Cyteen - sorry that your DP didn't get the job.

Are we still trying to think of a good thing for the day? See I do read the threads I miss sometimes.

erm my good thing - Izzy slept for 2 hours this afternoon. And I worked out how to work the audio button on the new digital tv box so I can now get some tv shows in English.
Can't tell you how odd Kim and Aggie are in French.

cyteen truely sorry he didn't get the job

had tea, girls down, about to watch masterchef and spend some time with DH

no1 am hoping today has gone well, have been thinking of you and Marcus today

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 20:12

steaky Chill about the playing with lo - Toby is lucky if he gets to do anything except sit bouncing while I'm doing something else! He is an extremely happy person nevertheless.... He does LOVE monkey music though. Does anyone else go? He grins and laughs through the whole thing. It feels ridiculous taking a baby this small but he does actually seem to enjoy it.

I shouted at ds1s teachers today He came out without his sweatshirt AGAIN. That would have made 5 lost since he started school last September. The teacher said 'Well if you go and see Mrs J she has a box of second hand ones' I said it wasn't good enough and I didn't want a second hand one and that I was going to see the headteacher. Which I did (again). They all started rather sheepishly searching for it and eventually it was found stuffed in someone else's bag (ds1 would not have done this). I feel embarrassed that I shouted but I think I have now made my feelings known. He might have lost one but four? Some of the mums have some nice new sweatshirts at home

poppysocks · 12/02/2009 20:28

Sorry to hear about the job cyteen.

You go pf! Maybe you'll end up with all the extra sweatshirts now?!

Naps.... Totally random here. Some days 3+ hours, others virtually nothing. She's really good at going down for the morning one, if we're in, and will be down for at least an hour and often two. Then there's usually something in the afternoon, but it depends what we're doing. If here there's usually another hour or so at some stage and maybe a little post-feed doze. Other times just what she can grab in the carseat/buggy/sling. DD1 was a total routine baby and at this stage was 40 mins morning, lunchtime and afternoon.

Snow disappearing now but lots of fun had by all today . DH on the first flight to London tomorrow though so has to be out of the house by 4.30am so praying for no further snow (or SO much more that we really are snowed in ).

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 20:32

Aw thanks PF. I get paranoid and worry that I am seen to be being a "good mum" by my PILs. Which is silly as they are so lovely about everything and basically overjoyed to have us here with them.

And then I think, what if when we have our own place I forget to talk to DD all day. But it is much more likely that I will sing her my full repetoire of songs from the shows and the poor mites first words will be "doe a deer..."

dizzy - very of masterchef watching. I always liked the original but thought the new version was genius with putting the contestants in the different situations.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 20:40

Well I think that's me for the night. That's the thing with being CMT+1 I miss out on all the good chat that happens after I go to sleep. Ah well.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 20:46

right ladies, crap patter only in honour of steaky
night, hope Izzy gives you a good one

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 12/02/2009 20:55

What was I saying about stopping bf? Ignore me please. I cannot bear the wailing from ds2 and the look of utter confusion and abandonment on his beautiful little face . I shall carry on until he's 21 or whenever he decides to selfwean...

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 20:57

lol CC am sorry I shouldn't laugh but what an image!!!

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 21:00

Awwww cc that was how I felt with dd and she did self wean at 13 1/2 months. Am praying Toby does the same - am in trouble if not!

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 12/02/2009 21:03

trouble is he won't drink milk be it ebm or formula from any vessel other than the nork!

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 21:14

I take it you've done the usual

bottle/cup and from DH not you?

sorry if I'm teaching my Granny to suck eggs here

sambo303triesforScotland · 12/02/2009 21:16

cc I have to say I was a trifle at your earlier pronouncement... , poor O must have been a shock

sazzles well done on the swim/massage. Yet again I failed to go swimming... tried to book creche yesterday lunchtime, was told to call back in 10 mins. Called back , oh they've gone home now

sambo303triesforScotland · 12/02/2009 21:17

in shock, not a shock

LoveBuckets · 12/02/2009 21:18

Can I recommend this DVD for anyone looking for ideas for playing with their LO (and also for hypnotising them whilst you do something else)? I had it on vid for the other 2 but DS1 broke/dismantled/ate it so am about to order the DVD. Also, if you ever see the Baby Mozart vid grab it with both hands, it's magic.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 21:30

I have that DVD buckets and I had the Mozart one, now just have the Beethove one, no idea where Mozart has got to

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 12/02/2009 21:33

Aww CC I'm impressed that you even tried. Enjoy lots of lovely cuddles with him and revel in his cuteness

Any word from no1 on Marcus? I am worried...

Thanks for commiserations - DP is off for a bath, I am off to bed - DS has been suspiciously quiet so far, better make the most of it!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 12/02/2009 21:44

Hello all

IL's came to dinner and have just gone home.

I put DD in her carrycot today to walk into town ans she yelled bigtime about having her coat on and lying down! so I removed the coat, added more blankets and she seemed happy enough to go to sleep. We walked to town then onto DH's office then down the canal path and back home - a total of about 8miles . When DD woke up I sat her up in the carrycot and attached her harness and she sat in her carrycot watching the world go by shouting at anyone who would listen. She looked so adorable and old fashioned.

Cyteen - Sorry DH didn't get the job.

CC - Boots have a new cup in it has no handles and is lime green and yellow, and is a sucky type rather than a free flow or the Tommee tippee bite down ones. I got DD one and she, who is a boobie girl, played with it a bit and then downed 3oz milk which thrilled me.

As for naps - DD has a big nap 1 hour-1.5 hours in the morning about 3 hours after she wakes then 30 to 40 mins at lunch then mid afternoon and occasionally 10mins with her 5pm feed.

Who did I miss???
