dizzy why bother renting why not just buy this bargain? A lick of paint is all it needs.

Thanks cyteen . We don't normally do a big VD thing but I do have some large heart cookie cutters so I was thinking of making ds1 heart-shaped toast that day. He is very keen on occasions!

Why am I still on MN when all my work time is elapsing...

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 09:44

annvan After you've been pregnant and through childbirth, a smear test really isn't that big a deal - you'll be fine

cc I've heard that story before but always suspected it was an urban myth

Off to docs, back later

poppysocks · 12/02/2009 10:08

Not big on the whole Valentine's thing here either. In fact, DH refused to go out on Saturday night, even though the babysitter offered . So, he's looking after the girls during the day so that I can have a long lunch with a friend whose DH is spending VD on the golf course . Am planning a nice meal though for Sunday night. Going with a smoked salmon starter, steak and then tiramisu. Have some raspberries, lime and miscellaneous booze, so intend to concoct some sort of pink cocktail. Last of the old romantics me .

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 12/02/2009 10:11

Morning. Another crappola night with master oliver. I think I will have to do some tough loving. No more night feeds to be offered, just cuddles and soothing from here on in. He's a stubborn boy but I'm an equally stubborn mummy.

vg can i take a cup from your vat of coffee? . lol at rolling in dog shite - that would be my luck too. I have to agree with cyteen, you looked v glam when we met.

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 12/02/2009 10:12

hey vg thats th place we had our eye on!

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 10:25

VG out of respect for CC I'll have to pass on that last place

poppy we've lovely snow here too! not sure I'll be venturing out in it though with Dylan and DD2 having the barking coughs - DH away to work at 6 this morning so am hoping he made it and isn't in a ditch enroute!

I wouldn't be worrying about your AF at all, you're still feeding so it will no doubt be erratic for a while

another crap night here too, she went down at 7am, woke when we went up about 10.30, fed and went back down. DD1 fell out the bed at 1am and then Dylan back up at 3am - she's asleep now, girls are colouring in at the table and I'm fannying about on here!

meant to be taking the dog to get clipped at 12pm but I feel with the ongoing blizzard it would be a bit mean to do it!

cyteen if its low fat puds I'm the wrong gal to ask

VD a wash out here too as DH working a very long late shift - I'll no doubt be on here after the girls are in bed so if anyone wants to snuggle up and get smoochy with me you're more than welcome

No1 hope Marcus doing a bit better today

AnnVan · 12/02/2009 10:27

Morning everyone. Not too bad a night here. Little man down about midnightish, a brief wail at about 1 (I leapt out of bed, but he was fine without me) then DP's alarm woke him at about 6ish, dummy in back to sleep. Feel a lot more human now.
Sazzles here have a cup of tea. It's Whittards.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 10:40

glad to hear it Ann

VG or oops who ever mentioned Rosanna farmhouse thank you, its lovely but its sodding booked so am off to look at the other ones!

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 11:06

dizzy for quick calculation of distances use this AA site very good.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 11:11

Here's another one it's in Greenane so about half an hour from Greystones (oddly the AA site puts it at more, but it's closer to me than my mum, and we are 50 mins door to door. It's a lovely spot.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 11:12

OK they are not using the motorway they are going cross-country that's why longer. Away out, have a great day all.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 12:17

VG it looks lovely, shall email him too - my only concern is that is only has 2 rooms but the kids can bunk down and free up the beds for the grown ups!!!

Sausageandmash · 12/02/2009 12:45

CC and Cyteen -The glitter/stamp stories made me laugh out loud

I too urge, nay demand, that you all to go for your smear - I've been on the receiving end of an 'abnormal' test result and had two treatments for pre-cancerous cells, so please get seen.

No1 - I hope Marcus is improving or you've whisked him off to the docs to be seen. It must be really horrid for you.

Hidying is definitely in my domestic repertoire. As is, 'arranging things into fairly tidy looking piles'. It's not as snappy though, is it?!

Thanks all of you with tips re: weaning (Buckets, thanks for the 'pear' tip, I will be steering clear for a little bit now - have just done a Squash squash so feeling very mumsy!) - we are battling on. I just wish he was like Reese (am scouring the internet for finger shaped spoon - genius idea!)

Now I've got another question - could ds be sleeping too much in the day, hence the hideous sleeping (ha!) pattern of the night. He has about 2 naps, during the 'day' (say between 7am and 7pm), totalling about 2.5 hours. Is this too much? How long do yours nap for during the day?

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 12:47

cyteen I have 'cook yourself thin' - bound to be low fat pud in there, I will check back later

vg Sounds like teething to me, only other likely culprit is ear ache and only way to check that is obv to take him to GP

We have no2 tooth about to break through the gum. Hopefully that will be it for a few weeks

petitfilowersandchocolates · 12/02/2009 12:49

sausageandmash That is perfectly normal for naps during the day. Toby sometimes has one of that length and another one of 45 mins - an hour! On a good day......

sambo303triesforScotland · 12/02/2009 12:51

hi all

all this holiday talk is making me , must organise something to look forward to.

well, last night was actually not too bad - ds asleep at 7pm and fed at 10.30. When he woke at 1.12am I put dummy in and he woke at 5.58. Fab. We have since had 2 further 40 min naps and I feel better than I have in ages. Missed rhyme time so I think I'll bundle ds into the silver cross and take him out to watch me doing some pruning in the garden.

cyteen a nice fruit pudding is baked bananas (sliced in half longways) in a mixture of orange juice, rum, dessicated coconut and brown sugar - good with vanilla icecream

sambo303triesforScotland · 12/02/2009 13:07

sausage my ds naps for about 3 hours per day which is fine by me! Usually in 3 or 4 slots.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 14:51

Hello. Not much to report here. I have not gone out for a walk, despite lots of sunshine, I'm not fooled its effing freezing out there. Izzy asleep in buggy in her room.

Felt like a rubbish mum today as she wasn't napping and I am very fed up with it. Seems like MIL has boundless energy, games and songs when I sneak off leave the baby with her for half an hour or so. I know it is just that she gets to do the fun stuff without the feeds, naps, night wakings and all. But I could barely do a full verse of Heads, shoulder, knees and toes.

Bah, just feeling glum and tired. Nearly cup of tea and a biscuit time.

The stamp on fanjo story is from a book, can't remember which one, but I've definately read it. Not much help, but sill a funny story.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 14:57

dare I buy these for DD2?!?!? not bloody likely at that price BUT amusing none the less

pyjama day here, we've not even gotten dressed

in my defence I did TRY to get them dressed but protests were shouted and resistance met and I didn't really try very hard to persuade otherwise

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 12/02/2009 15:21

dizzy - pyjama day sounds good.
Not too sure about those boots though.

Amazingly the napless one has now been asleep for a good hour. I have been wishing for this for days but am I doing anything productive in this time? Well if you count mning.

TwilightSurfer · 12/02/2009 15:25

Recording crap night here too. It was dreadful but waking at midnight then at 4:30 does havoc on my sleep. I feel like I've been run over. And I'm watching with horror as the countertop guys remove my kitchen countertops. KITCHEN IS OUT OF SERVICE TILL MONDAY. But on the bright side I will have new granite countertops for Valentine's Day.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 12/02/2009 15:29

Okay that should have read WASN'T DREADFUL. ARRGGHH!!

Anyone heard from No1. I've had Marcus on my mind all night.

Sazzles, your dd1 and my dd1 will get along very nicely. DD1 blew up this morning and fumed for a half and hour over her tennis shoes not feeling proper on her feet. GOOD LORD we could do without the unnecessary DRAMA!!

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 12/02/2009 15:36

steaky MNing industrious of the highest order - I've just left mine on all day and keep popping in and out

TS if you don't mind I'm going to be REALLY cheeky and suggesting an opportunity here - can you not use this as an excuse for your lovely DH to bring you in all the lovely food he used to when you were very pregnant with Reese!??!

LoveBuckets · 12/02/2009 17:25

Bargain alert for Valentines carnivores: Asda are doing some v posh matured steak for £10/Kg which is cheaoer than their normal steak of suspicious origins.

S&M those naps sound ok to me. Kurt's bedtime is usually 6.30-7 so I try to keep him awake after 5pm (arrgh, gotta wake him now.) Can be difficult if he won't go down after his 3rd feed though. Guess that means I am a routine person now but it's all his doing really. I'm just trying to bend his own routine to my convenience.

Got fed up with my family all being ginger and just emailed SIL that if they need to come home from Oz my folks have said they would pay for flights and let them stay as long as needed. My mum just can't say it to DB & SIL but basically told me to pass the message on. Ridiculous isn't it considering they are offering to live with them?

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 17:58

Sausage those naps sound ok to me too. At the moment, assuming ds gets up at 6.30 or 7, he has a nap from 9-10, 1-2 and 5-6, bedtime is then at 8. That's a perfect day when we can stay in etc, of course every day the routine is joggled by something or other, but I normally find he can't be up for more than 3 hours without needing a sleep. So that's 3 hours of sleep per day for us, and he usually goes to sleep at 8 quite happily. (not that he sleeps through or anything).

ds1 rather oddly had homework to make a Valentine's card for someone. My little heart leapt, obviously, but he made a card for one of the dogs .

Buckets are things not working out for your DB and family over there? Think I missed that.

Have just remembered my mum is coming to supper on VD, would she notice be alarmed I wonder if I served her dauphinoise potatoes in a heart-shaped stack beside a heart-shaped fillet steak???

TS it's really horrible when you have no kitchen but tis only a couple of days, I'd lap up the takeaways too if I were you!
