lol at dizzy - it would be amusing if you mixed those appointments up!

Must share this...it was on a phone in with Richard and Judy a few years back, the topic was embarassing moments. The caller said it was around Christmas time and she was going for a smear test. Just prior to going in she nipped to the ladies and used a 'femfresh' type spray. When she went in to see the doctor she de-robed and got on the couch as told. The doctor examined her and said "Well, its lovely but really you needn't have gone to this much effort" - at this point she realised she had sprayed her undercarriage with glitter spray rather than femfresh!! ho ho ho

Night SAzz and dizzy. Am off to bed too. Good night good ladies.

Note to all JulyAug/Sept 08 babies of this thread. You are hereby instructed to sleep through the whole bloody night. No wake ups. You are permitted to wake anytime from 7am onwards.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 22:08

I adore hidying - concept and word! Fab. Am an inveterate hidier. vv good one there.

No1 poor poor wee Marcus. I would tend to say deffo don't keep him away from docs for worry of other people - if a baby needs to see a doc he just needs to - phone them up and if necessary you can wait in your car until called, or if necessary you can just push in ahead of everyone else. If you are that worried about him, bring him to the doc, regardless.

CC vv good news your sis has decided to give rehab a bash! God I hope it works for her.

dizzy - don't worry re. meeting me - I am very well used to driving the length & breadth of Wicklow and Dublin and will get to wherever you are if necessary, there's nowhere in either county I can't get to within a couple of hours.

Howbout rathmorecountryhouse.com/Self-Catering.1248.0.html it's in Ashford which is about half an hour south of Greystones. They look well put together and seem reasonable, but there doesn't seem to be a garden which is a drawback. However lots of good countryside round Ashford. It makes mention of August, I presume Aug of last year and site not updated .

www.discoverireland.ie/DI/resultsengine/IndividualResultTCS.aspx?touristItemID=60645&type=Acc ommodation&LocationID=20&SearchString=&FromDate=&ToDate=&SearchByDate=0&CategoryID=1215&LocationName =Wicklow&CountyID=20&Radius=0&rbSelect=type&SortBy=1&SubCategoryID=1215 is also Ashford, though I don't see rates. Children and pets welcome, which is a good sign.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 22:12

OK it took me so long to mangle those links everyone has gone to bed!

Sorry dizzy I meant

this in Ashford and ommodation&LocationID=20&SearchString=&FromDate=&ToDate=&SearchByDate=0&CategoryID=1215&LocationName =Wicklow&CountyID=20&Radius=0&rbSelect=type&SortBy=1&SubCategoryID=1215 this also in Ashford. Apols.

pf and for your neighbour! Hope things are not as bad as they appear.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 22:13

Oh ffs.

It actually works if you click it.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 22:16

Crafty and non-crafty types, make your own VD cards comme ca

Is quite amusing looking through the papers and thinking of all the pointed remarks lovely sayings you could use...

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 11/02/2009 22:25

Dizzy - this may not be your cuppa but what about here Not sure 4 night rates but they seem reasonable ish.

Night all - hoping everyone gets some sleep. We are going to skip the dream fedd again tonight and hope we get the 7-5 and 5-8.30 again tonight!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 11/02/2009 22:28

hi VG, i'm still awake.. waiting for a drunk DP to arrive home from work
I love those cards! what a great idea

no AF here yet but ssssh i have a sleeping DS (well he's been asleep for 5mins so probably about to wake up!)

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 11/02/2009 22:29

Those VD cards are fab VG - we have agreed this year no money over £1 to be spent and it may not be purchsed - £1 for mateials only anything you find is useable too. Lets see what he comes up with!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 11/02/2009 22:33

what a great idea Oops! DP made me a card for my bday a couple of years ago. he thought that a cutout shape of me on the front would be a cool idea... i look like a yeti but i loved it all the same!

fortunately we don't do VD here

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 11/02/2009 22:36

VD is just a huge commercial con really but it seems to be the one day DH pays attention to so by not letting him use his wallet to talk he really has to think rather that throwing money at it.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 11/02/2009 22:39

sounds like a cunning plan. what are you spending your £1 on?

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 22:40

No but you could use the idea for lots of occasions. That is a good idea oops, not spending more than a pound.

Someone gave us a thing to make a plaster cast of ds's hand or foot. Am a bit .

DS went to bed at 8, woke 8.45 with v piercing cry, fed, back, has just woken again. He has no red cheek, etc, how would I know if it was his teeth? What else could it be? Was similar last night. I cannot face another twenty wakeups tonight.

TwilightSurfer · 11/02/2009 23:00

Captain that femfresh story had me rolling. THANKS!

AnnVan · 12/02/2009 00:19

Hi again all. Have just put little man down.
TS does Trampolining count for Hot Mama's?
Also have talked SIL into doing Race for Life with me! SO that will give me a great goal to aim for in terms of upping my fitness. So I am going to sign up for an excercise class once a week, and see if MIL minds me using her cross trainer as well. Am quite enthused really.

No1 for Marcus, hope he improves soon. Won't add anything else, as the others have already said it so well.

CC so good you talked to your sister. I hope she manages to kick this now, for her on sake and her daughter's.

RIght, seeing as everyone seems to have gone to bed, I'm going to have a quick cup of caffeine free tea and then head up myself.

AnnVan · 12/02/2009 00:20

oh and Buckets I too need to book an appointment for a smear. I've never had one. Have had a reminder though. Just going to have to suck it up and go.

TwilightSurfer · 12/02/2009 02:00

Ann YES!

9pm both DCs asleep. I should be too.

Night

Expectant · 12/02/2009 04:38

CC please let me know how cold turkey goes. Can't get DS to take a bottle or cup for love nor money and have spent plenty of the latter on various types of bottle and cup.I wanted to try this but have been too scared because of DS slow weight gain history.

lwfh sorry forgot to say thanks for all the flight tips. Am v.worried as although DS is a generally very happy baby he is a duracell bunny and what with the crawling I'm not sure how we're going to manage. Also we couldn't use the offer we've got on night flights both ways.

Had 6m injections yesterday. DS then slept from 7-4 and 4.30 to 8 so not too bad given that he's been waking up quite a bit since I've been back at work in the mornings.

No1 can only repeat what the others have said. Take Marcus in. I took DS in with what turned out to be slapped cheek last week not realising this could be potentially dangerous had there been pregnant women in the surgery (fortunately it was nearly empty and the others were all male).

LoveBuckets · 12/02/2009 07:57

Woohoo, AF here after 32 days, could get used to a cycle like that! LOL at PF, know what you mean, I only call it that online and could never say Aunt Flo out loud.

Poor you sazzles. Good on Emma though!

Since there's some discussion of the AF topic (like Buckets, would never refer to it as such anywhere else!), I've had one and nothing since.... Last time once they were back we were into a v. regular pattern (far more so than pre-DD1 ), but by then I'd stopped bf. Should I in any way be worried that I haven't had another one??

We finally have some snow here! Novlty still intact for us, and especially DD1, who is vv excited.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 12/02/2009 08:39

Oh dear Sazz Atrocious night here also, so you have my sympathies.

Still no period for me yet, not missing it in the slightest. Was called in for a smear test the other week only to be told I don't actually need one after all - my GP surgery had no record of me ever having had one, when actually I had one in 2007 and it was perfectly fine

CC I did roffle at the femfresh story Reminds me of someone I know on another board who gave herself a quick wipe with the hanky she always carried in her bag prior to going in for the smear test, only for the doctor to discover a stamp stuck to her fanjo

I am going to make DP a card for VD (snurk) this year - we quite often do this although neither of us is particularly big on the day. He can actually draw so always does me something good - last year it was stickmen with semaphore flags that spelled out I LOVE YOU CYTEEN Am also going to cook us a big steak dinner since life is such hard work at the moment. Any ideas for a low fat dessert?

Sibh · 12/02/2009 08:41

I've no time to post properly, but just on to send best wishes to Marcus. And take care of yourself too No1 ...

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 08:49

Dreadful night here too. We were up at 6 but ds1 gone to school and ds2 now having a nap so I am drinking a vat of coffee as I have to get a piece of work done this morning. However dp is taking time off at lunchtime today and we are going to a nice restaurant, will be v nice, though he will be all shaved and 3-piece-suited and whatnot and I'll be ratty-haired, smeared-glasses-y and with my too-rapid makeup all caught in patches of dry skin, so I hope resto is not too smart . Also am likely to wheel in dogshit on the wheel of the buggy, given will be going through town.

Oh dear, laughing at the smear-find stories, glitter and stamps!

I might do nice dindins too seeing as VD is a Sat, maybe steak too and gorje dauphinoise spud, dp keen on them though ds1 not... watching M-chef all week I might get inspired to present the food too, instead of lobbing it onto the plates from twenty paces.

Fruit always the low-fat option, I did pears poached in elderflower cordial last night, you could do something simple like that and make it pretty with Masterchef touches? Not really me you need, tis Flower of S.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 12/02/2009 08:54

I'm sure you will look gorgeous VG, I thought you were very glow-y when we met in London

Food presentation also not my strong point...the first bite is always with the mouth in my house

Fruit is a good idea, maybe baked something with creme fraiche? Dizzy will just come on here and give me 1000 tasty cake recipes that I can't resist

DS is singing me a gargling song down the baby monitor. Oh dear, now it is cycling up the octaves into "come get me!" Back in a bit.
