Morning

Sazzles Great swim I am very envious - our pool only has public swimming in the evenings at about DD's bed time or at 9.30pm after swim club! By which time I am too tired to even think of it.

PF Happy Birthday to your DS. LOve the top - I looked at it last weekend but decided I had no-where to wear it to.

CC Great news on the offer - lets hope they negotiate and you get the house you want.

Poppy V envious of your meet up with Dizzy - will you tell us what she looks like please??

Ann - Who had what? called Valentine?? Here have some of your sleep - I think I have done well enough so far to share.

Buckets If DH keeps watching Kerrang with DD she too will be a metalhead.

TS Please slow down you are exhausting me.

Sorry if I missed anyone - things a bit chaotic here.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 11/02/2009 10:01

ANN - have some of MY sleep - you don't have any

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 11/02/2009 10:02

As I sit here typing I am quacking at DD it's the only thing keeping here quiet.

SIBH Sorry missed your DS was being bullied - {{HUGS}} for him and you.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 11/02/2009 11:10

Hi all
poppy Can you tell me how the stylist on GMTV was wearing the tunic? I'm not sure whether to go for very opaque tights or slim trousers (with the tunic hiding my pear shaped bits) Glad you all liked it though

and dh loves his own birthday but I think is just very used to no-one being with him for it from his childhood...

sazzles and re the recognition at last. I got that when dh was on pat leave - he thought he would get some work done(as last time ds1, dd and I were asleep at the same time for quite a bit of it!) but not this time - think he got quite a shock and admitted it was very hard work. I really want him to have all three of them some time then he will know what hard is. I am supposed to be going out on Friday night but no chance unless I get the bottles out - I may try today but I know it is unlikely he will take it.

Not going to see Granny today as she is too overwhelmed with Catholic priests ringing her (Grampa is a retired Catholic bishop) - I am hoping I will get a chance to see him in hospital when dh is back ......

pertelote · 11/02/2009 11:42

gosh PF that is not something many people can say of their grandfathers! Hope you get a chance to see him soon. And happy birthday to miniPF! Sibh your poor lad. Hope he is ok.

Very good to hear your DH's confession Sazzles. It seems to chime with Buckets' quote about mirroring - reminds me of Naomi Stadlen's book 'What Mothers Do', has that been mentioned here before? It's excellent anyway. I think my DH realises ML isn't all tea and cake and playtime... but he is having a bit of a stressful time at work (caught up in trying to dismiss someone incompetent, not an easy thing in the public sector...) so I won't push him to say it out loud just yet

Two steps forward one back here... or rather two reasonable nights (one five hour stretch is my minimum) and then back to every two hours. Bleurgh. Porridge went down better this morning though.

TwilightSurfer · 11/02/2009 12:01

Hmm wasn't I just on here a few hours ago. LOL I think Reese just likes to hear herself talk. She woke again chatting away. It sounds so cute, just wished she'd pick a different time to do it.

PF after all I've been through the past 12 months with my own Grandmother you would think I'd have words of wisdom to share with you??? {{{hugs}}}

Oops I told you I'm working on exhaustion fumes!!!

Sazzles my DH KNOWS 24/7 in my position and he'd be a dead man.....so off to work he goes without a grumble.

Both dcs have a birthday a week from today: dd1 will be 5 and reese will be 6m!!!! YEAH!!!

Off to pick out granite countertops today. I'm not sure if I'll really purchase them but it never hurts to look. Plus it's a family friend's shop. I've been instructed to MAKE SURE I let whoever is helping me know I am DaddyTwiligherSurfer's daughter.

so much to catch up...

So party went well, however 22 family members have been wiped out with s & d. I have never felt so ill.
I immediatley thought I had given everyone food poisining so was mortified.
However I didnt eat and several others didnt and still ill. Some friends didnt come as they had it.
However 1 friend did come. I didnt know until 5 min ago that her girl and them just had it.While she was here 1 of her babies leaked through nappy and other twin was very sick...........
I am now in the process of postponing christening on Sunday. Not worth it.NO one would come and Marcus ill anyway.
(luckily dd and ds not been sick. YET

sibh so sorry for your little boy, I hope school are keeping an eye out, and doing all they can/should.
My dbrother is having problems at me dnephews school, he is currently being assessed for autism and my brother has been to look at another school as his bullying is getting beyond a joke.
buckets any advice greatfully recieved as to pass on to my bro and wife as they are trying to get their heads round it.my nephew has always told us he is different and has always behaved different.
cc good news on house, hope negotiating can be done in your favour. so sorry about your sister, think the letter could be a good idea, also to help you pen out how you feel, can be a good release even if only short term.
I have plebty more to respond to but ds crying..

AnnVan · 11/02/2009 12:49

No1 sorry to hear of sickness in family.
I've had another mishap today. THis time a fall on the stairs. Doesn't help that our stairs are EXTREMELY narrow, but DP insists on filing papers on them An A4 sheet takes up more than half the width of the stairs. I was carrying Seb downstairs and foot just slipped of the step. Thankfully I was only two steps up so didn't have far to fall. Now have sore left knee and elbow on top of having a badly bruised right foot. As they say 'God's doing SOMETHING on me, but he sure ain't smiling'

Anyhoo. Had a slightly better night last night. At least I managed a bit of sleep. Not exactly a full night, maybe about 5 or 6 hours all told. But better than the last two nights.
THink of me as well, have Seb's last lot of jabs this afternoon.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/02/2009 13:03

ann you are in the wars. thankfully only few steps but [ouch] anyway.
What was the birth announcement earlier?????

glad you got some sleep, Marcus did 8 while 7.
I have never slept so long, but needed it as was very ill.
hope he is ok after his jabs

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 11/02/2009 13:06

well the text service has stopped working! DS was awake every half hour

Its perfect walking weather here today, fresh and dry, perfect!

sorry to all having family issues be it poorly grandfathers, unstable sisters or bullied sons. I have no words of wisdom, only that I'm thinking of you all and hope the bad times pass quickly and the sun starts shining soon

hotterpotter · 11/02/2009 13:09

I second that Miamla

hotterpotter · 11/02/2009 13:13

All you crafty ladies, I followed a link to this pattern from my moneysaving email this morning. The instructions look greek to me but the finished article is so cute!

No1 that you've all been so poorly. Hope you feel better really soon

Ann be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!

AnnVan · 11/02/2009 13:21

NO1 the birth announcement was Sphie Ellis Bextor's baby boy born nine weeks prem. I wander if DP will get to meet said baby?

dum di dum

pertelote · 11/02/2009 13:24

HP that is indeed very cute. Might have to see if I've got any odds and ends that could produce one by Easter...

No1, how grim for you all. What a shame to have to postpone. Hope you are soon fully recovered yourself.

Ann I'm sure it is tiredness that makes us do these things! DH had an awful morning last week: broke a glass, spilt coffee, burnt toast etc etc - he was almost weeping with frustration that he couldn't do anything right. Of course it was just after a night where he had been kept awake more than usual by DD... You take care on those stairs.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 11/02/2009 13:34

no1 Wow that is some fearsome virus - don't come too near the keyboard now will you Seriously, that must have been awful, hope you are all better soon

ann Hope your ankle is better. I keep bumping into stuff because I am tired but nothing compared to how you must be feeling

miamla Every half an hour ditto as above

I am feeling very sorry for myself today. Sick to death of being stuck in the damn house - does anyone else ever feel like that? I feel like I am chained here and to the children and next week is half term and dh has no time off (aargh)

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/02/2009 13:44

pf lol I wear a mask before breathing on laptop screen.

I get very very frustated if I stay in 2 days running, so I know how you feel. I have now been in since sunday, but luckily feel ok about it as dont have the energy to go anywhere anyway.
I may feel differently in the morning though

I am just wondering if/when dd will come down with this sickness bug. Dreading it, i have no idea how she will cope.or any child for that matter.
Hotterpotter that is a very sweet pattern.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 11/02/2009 14:26

pertelote Grampa isn't exactly a Catholic Bishop but it is easier to explain it like that. If you are at all churchy it is interesting (as he was very outspoken against the ordination of women and moved from CofE to Catholic) but if you aren't it would be highly dull as it is all a bit complicated! To me he is just my Grampa.

LoveBuckets · 11/02/2009 14:39

Poppysocks & No1 There's no better place to start than the Mumsnet Special Needs board! Even for vague nebulous musings and queries and 'I can't believe I'm posting this on MN but...'

PF I bought a stretchy black boobtube when I was pg and used it as a bumpband/miniskirt. Still fits fine and looks great over leggings/thick tights and would be fab with that tunic top and some pixieboots (which are in apparenbtly). Try places cheapy places like Newlook or Primark for basic stretchy separates like that.

Another quote from my book for people handling challenging behaviour at the mo:
'Projective Identification: A means by which one makes one's feelings or pain known by acting in such a way as to cause another person to actually feel what the projector is feeling. In other words, if they are making you feel mad/sad/hurt, it's because they are feeling like that themselves. Neurotypical kids anyway.

Just seen Benjamin Button, v long, boring and annoying - am so disappointed. It's just the kind of starcrossed lovers thing I should love but they just made up unnecessary obstacles by the end.
Bollocks, think I'm getting a migraine now, visions going wonky.

LoveBuckets · 11/02/2009 14:46

Ann LOL I thought it was a v peculiar metaphor for one of Seb's poos of doom!

AnnVan · 11/02/2009 14:51

LOL Buckets anyhoo, seems like it's common knowledge now anyway. But you heard it HERE first
Anyone know what this Woman in the Attic business is about. These little 'in jokes' are a little annoying. Mind you, I was only straying from familiar territory because I'm a little bored. Should relly be at docs right now for seb to be having jabs, but can't seem to motivate. Plus, he's napping.

I think I managed to use the word 'little' a few to mny times there.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 11/02/2009 15:09

Ann can you stop it with the launching yourself down the stairs etc please - my nerves are shot as it is and frankly am going to be banging on your door with a vat or arnica at this rate!!

sibh am very and for your gorgeous DS - am sending you DD2 immediately as she is a thug and can be put to good use

pf echoing thoughts of others, well done on party, tunic is gorgeous - pencil thin black trousers & sky scraper heels for max impact and my heart goes out to you re Grampa. I lost my Gran in 2000 and I adored her, was devestating but sounds like you have a lovely relationship with them both and am sure Toby is their pride and joy

CC good luck with house and all the offers

poppy don't you dare tell them whatastateIam what I look like then they'll have to come to Scotland to see us

buckets get yourself off to dark room before it kicks in, migraines just not pleasant at all

No1 am so sorry to hear you're all ill what a worry and your poor DC. hope you're getting on ok with rescheduling the christening

everyone else kisses all round as I managed to get some sleep last night, Dylan started smiling again yesterday so is hopefully on mend, took a little yogurt today too and I had a lovely visit with poppy and her gorgeous gals
even if my rather militant over enthustiastic friend was getting on her high horse about the education of Poppy's DD1

am in such a good mood I won't bore with you with latest PIL saga/ car service costing £133 and the fact that DD2 has leaked through her pants and decided to inform me by sitting on my knee and making me wet too

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 11/02/2009 15:12

Ann I thought he was called Kit Valentine? he's 10wks prem as she has preclampsia so good luck to them

oops am with you on the too tired for swimming too I love the swimming part its the whole getting there/getting wet/dried and home in the cold etc that bothers me though

who was asking about weaning? we were doing kind of reasonably ok until Dylan fell ill and up until today she's refused everything again, gummed on a bit of baguette and had some yogurt today

AnnVan · 11/02/2009 15:23

Dizzy probably DP getting his facts muddled. He does this. He can't remember some clients' names. Charlie Boorman for eg - he keeps saying 'I was doing that bloke's accounts, you know, the one from Long Way Round' the name never sticks for some reason.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 11/02/2009 15:26

lol, wouldn't worry about it at all, I'm only getting my info from yahoo home page and I'm lucky if DH can remember the names of the kids - he's beginning to say 'girls' a lot I've noticed

alittlebitshy · 11/02/2009 16:20

getting back on radar

TS henry needs your text pls. 3 time last night Last one dh went in and settled him without milk )

dizzy and anyone else. what sort of yogs are you using? dd only had natural yog sometimes mixed with purees but ds HATES it. Tried Plum baby ones today which he liked. Not v sweet and no added sugar so... . Feel bad as wanted to be "good" but he's a determind lad.
