Sazz swimming a mile

VG cross-training 4.2km

Puts my 2 mile gentle amble this afternoon into perspective , and the HV at clinic today did warn me that once we cut down on BFing due to weaning my arse would start to spread unless I did something about it in fact she was very nice and full of compliments for DS and the fact we waited to wean. So, there are some good ones out there

Not sure if DS' text has come through yet as he only went to bed at 8.15 and have already had to go and resettle him. Have a feeling we're in for a long night ahead , could really do with going to bed now.

PF I hope your DS has a lovely birthday tomorrow and there is plenty of cake left for you

TwilightSurfer · 10/02/2009 20:58

carpet lady just called and pissed me off. i CLEARLY explained how i wanted to do my quote: "quote master bedroom and then quote master with the two additional bedrooms." because i don't really need to replace everything BUT if the deal was good then i'd do it. she gave me huff because she'd have to redo/resend whatever to get the master only quote. OKAY well thank you i'll be waiting for that quote.

vg What Energy? I working on looney exhaustion fumes thus the crazy impromptu remodel. we'll retext.

yay! that's great news CC

hmm what else was i going to comment on? haven't got a clue! its on the other page now

i've walked miles today with DS in the carrier
We did a long forest walk this morning with a couple of other local mums (think i might have told you this earlier!) and then this afternoon we did a 4mile round trip to a library for nursery rhymes. was lovely!DS was sweet... sat in front of me holding my hand for a little while, looked round, smiled and crawled off! He then played with the other babies until it was time to go.It was almost like he needed to survey the situation, building his confidence by holding onto me and then scarpered when he'd sorted everything out in his head!

He's just done a v v stinky bottom burp so i'm off to investigate if a nappy change is required!

back in a min or two (depending on what my nappy investigations reveal!)

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 10/02/2009 21:05

ooh forgot to say.. for the puree-ers of you... sweetcorn and brocolli in a blender makes a really tasty (interestingly textured) mush
I reckon its good enough to serve as a dip at a party!

TwilightSurfer · 10/02/2009 21:07

Sorry sidetracked with DH call. Had to vent.

Sazzles NICE JOB on the massive swim. do dcs need a text?

Captain yeah {{whispers}}. I will hold my excitement for a firm standing offer.

S&M don't know what to say. Reese would eat the spoon if you let her.

lol miamla I just read that you had done a really stinky bottom burp . My mistake!

TS please retext O too. Just woken up to feed and is now grumbling again! Aaaarrrgggh. Shut up and go to sleep!!

petitfilowersandchocolates · 10/02/2009 21:10

hotterpotter am confused as to why your arse will start to spread when you stop bf - I lose weight when I stop bf'ing so would take that with a pinch of salt

vg ds1 will be at school tomorrow - I just think dh should be there in the morning. He was at boarding school so I don't think has the same feeling about your parents needing to be there on your birthday...... He has missed my birthday too for two years running and will be making that three in May ......grrr. sazzles party is done already - we had it on Sunday. I'm not moaning about the work side of it, I just think your dad should be there on your birthday and not go to blardy Birmingham to do a blardy presentation instead.

My Grampa is officially dying now so a bit more gloomy than before. Going to try and visit my Granny tomorrow and cheer her up with Toby's little mug.

I bought this as well as the other top on a whim. This one looks way better so I'm going for that.

However I think I will have to hide in the loos to bf! not exactly practical is it.

You may not like it from the pic but believe me it is very flattering and the colour is lovely

petitfilowersandchocolates · 10/02/2009 21:28

sazzles thanks - party was good and stress free as at a soft play place. dh also boarded from age 7...... will be interested to see what your dh thinks.

I'm off too as otherwise will be on here all night. I will be back tomorrow to see what you thought of my new top

AnnVan · 10/02/2009 21:46

hi again
DP has news (but ssshhhh - don't go blabbing now) SEB has had a baby boy today - 9 weeks prem weighing in at 2lb 10oz named Valentine.

Am too tired to mention. DP says I look shattered. Not surprising seeing as I've had about 3 hours sleep in last 3 days. Bought some new trainers today at least, only £8 bargain. Please send sleep dust this way people. DOn't think I can survive another day with no sleep.

AnnVan · 10/02/2009 21:48

Little man seems to like plums. Whenever DP or I tries to eat one, he grabs it and starts gumming furiously on it.

pertelote · 10/02/2009 21:55

That sounds lovely Sazzles!

PF I think that's lovely! See what you mean about BFability though... So sorry about your grandfather, btw. Sympathies to you all.

DD isn't terribly interested in solids yet either. Lots of spitting out (banana, avocado, toast, porridge, etc...). I persevere!

What a lot of energy on here today! (Not sure I believe your denials, TS ) Here's wishing us all the good night's sleep we deserve...

LoveBuckets · 10/02/2009 22:38

Thought I'd share a passage from my highbrow psychology book to remind us all what a good job we're doing:

"Mirror (v): To reflect back, especially with babies, children's own image of themselves so that they find that image to be positive. Mirroring, something that mothers do naturally, builds self-esteem in chidren." Aaaah.

Kurt tried to say Metallica tonight! I've been watching the Metallica documentary on Sky+ very slowly and was mirroring away as above LOL whilst changing his nappy. Said 'Shall we go and finish watching Metallica then?' And he said (I SWEAR!) 'tal' . The boy's a feckin heavy metal genius!

S&M Pear is synonymous with lots of runny poo! Kurt also not a big eater (despite his size), still can't do spoons so he just has half a ricecake per day at the mo.

Sibh · 10/02/2009 23:15

Buckets - rofl at metalhead Kurt.

DD2 should be muttering about vampires here as I am writing stuff for teaching tomorrow and I've wound up teaching Dracula for what is I think the 11th time. Oh to be picking the texts myself ... That is not the lot of the part-timer though. Things are fine here in the sense that DD1 is responding to having her vile behaviour ignored and the lovely girl is there again more often than not for another while. DS is having to learn to at least appear tough in order to fend off physical assaults at school. Lots of cuddles are helping him, but it is heart-breaking. I loved Miamla's description of DS in the library. Having to leave DS at the school gate without the option of toddling up to me when his confidence is shook is not so nice. I've had a word with the teacher though so hopefully things will look up there.

PF - I'm very sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandmother was with my grandad from the age of 14 until her late 70s and the loneliness for her with him gone is a truly awful thing. It would have been his birthday today in fact. I'm sure Toby will bring a little sunshine to tomorrow's visit

On a happier note, I adore the new tunic - it's gorgeous. I hope the birthday goes well too. DH was away for part of each week last year but with three it must be a whole world more difficult again.

CC - an offer is a great sign. Have you been working on DS's greeting skills? I practically fell off my chair laughing at his contribution last week.

It's awful that things are no better for your Dsis and it makes total sense that you are so upset. All the plans you have had for your family will change if she is not there for Dneice and you have every right to grieve for that as well as for what is happening to her. We're here beside you as you know of course.

Cyteen - I didn't realise you went to Leeds too. DH and I met there and so I have a lot of happy memories of it (editing out the full grimness of Hyde Park obviously)

TwilightSurfer · 11/02/2009 07:41

Sibh {{{hugs}}}

Reese is ignoring her own text regarding sleep. She's up chatting like it's 10am. I gave her a bottle and changed her. Figured out when I changed her that I only have ONE more diaper in the house. Guess where I'll be going FIRST THING in the AM. Now how on earth did I do that!?!

Back to bed for me.

Before I go here's a full country breakfast:
scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, biscuits, gravy, sliced tomatoes and canalope with orange juice or coffee. ENJOY!

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 08:29

Sibh funny I was looking at Dracula yesterday, it is the Dublin: One City One Book read for this year, it'll happen in April so there are going to be hundreds of Dracula-related events (well, in Dublin, if that's of any use to the Arthurs). for your sweet DS, the world is such a difficult place for littlies to navigate. I hope his teacher is the right kind & will be vigilant.

In my experience this thing about boarding school is so right, I was talking to someone about it just a couple of weeks ago. It's not just celebrating other birthdays (or Mother's Day or whatever) but not even really being bothered about celebrating their own (not that I am a big me, me, me, it's my birthday person, but I am capable of acknowledging it ). It's not hard to imagine how it comes about... some retraining necessary.

pf so sorry about your grandfather. Babies are such a tonic in these situations. I do love hearing about couples who have been together forever and are in love, I practically follow elderly hand-holders around supermarkets to envy them, they must be a bit at me. Sadly the pain of loss is the eventual price to pay for a life of love, but who would swap the love bit? I'm sure your grandmother wouldn't. Hope your grandfather's last times are easy ones.

TS I thought I asked to have ds2 put on the text list???? I don't know what was wrong with him last night, up five or six times, upset, unlike him. Usually he flicks awake, feeds, makes the house shudder with the force of his burp, then goes back to sleep. Last night a lot of crying, most unlike him .

I cannot believe MiniMrMiamla is crawling, and did Expectant say her fellow was too? This is serious development! Brilliant boys. Well done.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 11/02/2009 08:31

Tunic - has camisole inside so you could probably slither up the silky outer bit and slither down the camisole bit on the feeding side? Or bring a handbag large enough to tote a book and disappear to the bathroom.

poppysocks · 11/02/2009 09:28

Congrats on the offer on the house CC. Great news. Hope you find somewhere fab to move on to and at a bargain price too. So sorry to hear about your Sister and niece though. They are both so lucky to have you looking out for them. Sounds like you're taking v. positive steps to help them out of the horrible situation.

pf- so sorry to hear about your grandpa. Seems there are a few of us on here with fading grandparents. My Gran (who's doing a bit better for now) is still SO adoring of my Grandfather, who died in 1992. There was a 19 year age gap and everyone said it wouldn't last but they were handholders. She showed me the letters they sent to one another during the war and the last ones he wrote one fingered on a typewriter just before they died. Heartbreaking but so heartwarming too.

So to hear about your gorgeous DS's time at school Sibh. Hope he has a good teacher who manages to diffuse the situation subtly. Glad you're getting more nice toddler than nasty. Sadly the balance is the other way in this house . Really need to get something posted into the Behaviour/Development bit on here as I''m at the end of my tether.

Oh and pf - love the tunic. V of your legs. Would love to carry something like that off. Saw some celebrity stylist in it on GMTV this morning ( that I was watching...was brief I promise) and I can see what you mean about how good it looks on. And looked far pricier too.

Am certain I've missed lots of people and news, but need to wrestle too small people into hundreds of layers to go and meet the lovely Dizzy and her gang. Yay!

poppysocks · 11/02/2009 09:31

Forgot to add sazzles, PF and VG on the boarding school/birthdays thing... I went at 7 as well, but LOVE my birthday. DH on the other hand, is useless with his and others. Suspect it may be as much a male/female thing.

Tess is officially 6 months old tom, cannot believe how quickly time has flown by!! She still has no teeth but the top two and the bottom two are right there and causing her no end of pain...

i have been weaning her for the last 4 weeks, seems to be going well, was able to drop night time feeding but she has decided she wants milk in the night again arghhh...

she still doesn't sleep longer than an hour and a half a day and thats in littlen bursts!!! she went down last night at 6,10pm and woke up at 2am and has been awake on and off every since!!!! so i have mastered getting her down at night, its making her stay down the whole night that the problem!!!
