Woohoo, Kurt seems (so far) quite happy to drop to a very convenient 4 feeds a day (tis only 3oz less in total.) He did wake at 5am for a chat but think that was more to do with snarking up phlegm than being hungry - he dozed off in the spare bed with me eventually and had breakfast at 7.30. Steriliser has gone to charity already (tis 10yrs old and has seen 5 babies!).

Apparently my DSIL in Oz is v down, DB still has no job, keeps wanting to give it 1more week but they have NO MONEY! He's too stubborn to go temp for (valuable) peanuts. My folks have already sent them some cash but they don't actually have enough for flights (let alone deposit on a house rental back here). Eldest 2 boys started school last week too. I think she would just love my folks to send her the money and come home with the boys and stay at theirs but is too scared to ask. It's a big ask and my mum can be quite scary but of course they'd do it in a heartbeat if she knew. It's difficult because DSIL has no privacy communicationwise and won't want to upset DB (who is probably pretty low himself.) I'm seeing my super-organised Sis today, we'll put our heads together.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 10/02/2009 09:50

morning all

sorry for being such a drama queen last night, was a bit overwrought...of course there was nothing really wrong with Joe, just a combination of v snotty cold/tooth pain making him clingy...he would not go back in his cot despite being happily asleep in DP's arms. problem solved by me going to bed early and laying next to him in our bed. naturally he ended up spending the night there and was pretty happy - we all seemed to sleep ok so i feel rather more sensible this morning.

Sibh i lived in headingley during my first year at Leeds Uni, in the flats behind the reeking KFC. obviously moved to hyde park after that as was too lazy to do the long walk into uni.

Buckets what a nightmare, best of luck for coming up with a plan.

LoveBuckets · 10/02/2009 10:00

LOL Sazzles have just realised that 10pm is your bedtime not your DD1's.

AnnVan · 10/02/2009 10:22

Morning all. Sorru to hear of upset babes and mums. CC my sympathies on your situation with your sis. It must be so hard, I can't imagine it
MY sis has been on the phone today lecturing about how I shouldn't do all the nights and DP should do some of them etc. Really annoying, as our situation is v diffrent from theirs. Her h doesn't work the hours dp does, isn't in danger of losing his job etc. She's threatening to phone DP and tell him off! She says we should do one night on, one nigt off like they do - if we di, dp would soon get the sack as he would not be functional at work.
So tired, had another night of a million wakeups here.

Ann How annoying! But hey, she cares. I currently spend almost as much time on agency websites as MN, looking for new jobs for DH.

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 10/02/2009 11:05

another rough night here too, teething is the culprit me thinks. Still not actually got any teeth yet but can see the bottom two and possibly a bottom canine making their merry way through the gums

sazz get your lippy on and get down to where they are filming . Take along a big banner which says "hi to the Aug 08 mn thread"

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 10/02/2009 11:07

oh, just saw they were filming last night....never mind!

TwilightSurferGoIreland · 10/02/2009 12:40

Sazzles it's only fitting you wind up on television as Captain has requested. You were on the radio about this time whilst pregnant...remember.

Cyteen you may not apologize for being a drama queen. That is a gift.

No1 I was thinking of you and your party. Glad all seems to have gone well. DD1 turns 5 on the 18th (when reese turns 6 months) but I'm only brave enough to invite the neighbor's child to swim.

Hurting a little today after my demo job. My electrician is due in this morning and I'm hoping he can "get to" where he needs to work otherwise he'll have to reschedule. DH and I went out last night to select the new floor. I'm going to attempt to install it all by myself. I'm actually very proud of myself so far and the floor is a GREEN product, having been created out of recycled tires....very durable and nice looking. We found our master suite carpet too. Another GREEN product! Just brought home samples to decide color. I think I like the chocolate colored one.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 10/02/2009 12:54

good day to you all
Yet again DS seems to have received the text from TS's DD2! its quite remarkably how much sleep he's had in the last few days AND he was in his cot til 3am ish.

Has anyone else noticed that the babies that were sleeping, seemed to have swapped their habits with the babies that weren't?! Doesn't help anyone, just an observation!

well, we've had a lovely walk round the forest this morning with some local mums. DS was unimpressed, he slept through the whole thing. But I guess that's my fault for making the carrier too comfy!

Off out again in a minute to go to Nursery Rhymes at the local library so i'm hoping he'll stay awake for it

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 10/02/2009 13:28

TS can you get Reese to text Oliver please? He has gone backwards in his waking patterns, and although I think its his teeth, I would still like a full nights sleep. This boy has yet to sleep through the night!!!!!!!

Right, am off out curtain shopping...or shall I be brave and try to make my own?

TwilightSurferGoIreland · 10/02/2009 16:28

Texting under way. CC please make sure Oliver's phone is fully charged.

Ladies I officially live in a dump! My kitchen looks scary and it's all my fault. I just don't know what got into me yesterday. The new flooring material will take a week to be delivered but I should be able to put it down in a day. As if I don't have anything else going on. LOL!

Diaper Rash Question:
Reese doesn't seem bothered but her BUTT is still red and splotchy. Her 6m check isn't for another week. I've tried Desitin (zinc based) and Aquafor (petro based). What else should I try?

hotterpotter · 10/02/2009 17:12

TS please get Reese to text my DS too, as contrary to Miamla's observation he was and still is a shit sleeper, grrr. Your kitchen sounds like it's getting a bigger job by the day, from one broken cooker to an entire remodel in 3 easy steps . You'll have to post photos for us . Can't help with nappy rash I'm afraid, at least she's not bothered by it.

Took DS to get weighed today, he's dropped from 98th to 91st centile but is still a whopping 21 lb 2oz . Definitely time for the size 2 fluffles!

AnnVan · 10/02/2009 17:22

ooooh HP I didn't know you're a clothie!!

LoveBuckets · 10/02/2009 17:25

Rotter How is he fitting into Size 1s??? Kurt moved into large sized everything ages ago but that might have been my acquisitive streak (got to be 20lb+ by my estimate.)

TS Whack up the heating, bung her on a washable playmat/changing mat on an uncarpeted area with no nappy on for at least half an hour. Try wiping with EVOO instead of normal wipes - either on homemade washable wipes or just cotton balls. Also kitchen cornstarch/flour makes a kinder talc if you're a powder person.

hotterpotter · 10/02/2009 17:38

LOL yes I'm a clothie although feel like an old fuddy-duddy compared to you with all the different kinds you've got! I ended up buying just fluffles for DD on the advice of the nappy lady. They are brilliant, I've no tumble dryer and they dry overnight no problem, still nice and soft, but sometimes I hanker after something a bit more exotic . I did actually get a lilac rainbow tot but don't really get on with it, I love the sewn-in fleece liner of the fluffle.

Should have had him in size 2s ages ago but couldn't find them had a proper root round in the loft at the weekend, god it's a mess up there . The size 1s were OK for wees, but did tend to leak poo a bit at the back as they were a bit low-slung. Builders bum at age 6 months

petitfilowersandchocolates · 10/02/2009 19:04

TS I swear by metanium for nappy rash (ingredients below)

Happy to post you some if you'd like! Don't know if you can get it on the net or not in the US

Active Ingredients: Titanium dioxide 20% w/w, Titanium peroxide 5% w/w, Titanium salicylate 3% w/w. Also contains: dimethicone 350, light liquid paraffin, tincture of benzoin and white soft paraffin.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 10/02/2009 19:12

Someone come and cheer me up
dh is away again and it is ds1's birthday tomorrow (gloomy emoticon)

TwilightSurfer · 10/02/2009 19:41

PF {{{{HUGS}}}}

Rotter....text in progress.

Buckets that's a no brainer. Why didn't I think of that. Oh Yeah I haven't been to see the wizard yet.

New hood/microwave installed. Tearing out the last piece of flooring in a minute (had to move the new range to do it). Will have masterbedroom carpet ordered this afternoon. Went with a CORN product. DH asked if we could eat it. When will all the projects end...............

Sorry all you PGs and WFCs ... I've been off line for such a long time you've fallen off my 'Threads I'm on' (actually you've got half way through a new one).

I had to go into topics list and look down, and down, and down - found nothing of you and thought, crumbs, have they all fallen off the end the earth? Then I realised I was in the antenatal club bit - which explained your highly un characteristic non-appearance!

I have had the merest hint of skim and would like to add my interests, for the record. These wouldn't exactly shine on a cv:
Eating (am overly partial to all food, particularly gourmet junk,
Drinking (I'd like to say mineral water, but I'd be fibbing),
Cooking for friends (well, letting my husband cook for our friends),
watching cerebral telly from the states such as Project Runway,
reading my book club book,
and as Sazzles I think it was mentioned porn - I am particularly into travel porn (typing 'Luxury', 'Hotel', 'Children's club/babysitting' into google and then sitting back to enjoy).

All fine here except that ds has spent the last few days poo-ing for Britain, so docs tomorrow to check on things. A coincidence perhaps, but I've been trying out a little bit of weaning (pureed pear with baby rice at mo - BLW off the menu says the dietician).

Now, a little bit of feedback, but is ds the only one who hasn't taken to solids (well, purees) like a duck to water? Nothing is really going in and he's not too keen. So, your thoughts - is this just 'early days' of the process, or could it be that he's just not ready to start at all (dietician advised me to start). Your experiences thus far would be gratefully received.

Right, typically I can't stay long, so cannot read the 446 (!) messages before I go to make a DELICIOUS chicken stir-fry (well, Mr Bingham, of No 1 Waitrose Road, might be doing a bit too...), but wanted to wish you all a lovely week with you and your bairns.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 10/02/2009 20:33

Bon soir.

hotter I am loving your new look name! Also adore the look of Sandal Castle, God I do love a chunk of lonely old stone, how lucky you are to have it within spitting striding distance. I always like to have somewhere to walk to - not twenty minutes, turn about, twenty minutes back.

Sazzles shouldn't you be turning into Sizzles about this time of year? Hollow laugh actually more than grin, we don't make much of V. Day chez Gardenia. That is blardy good work on the swimming, gosh well done, I am very , was that with normal or TI method?

pf it's not nice having to do all the birthday stuff yourself at that age (I do find that's easier as they get older, I mean properly old like 9 ) but unforch all you can do is chuck yourself into it and take lots of pics, you know you will end up having a nice time and so will ds1. I think little reminders are good during a birthday (I find this at my age, too...) - a special kiss and a special breakfast and you get served first at lunch, and get to choose where the walk is etc, even before the cakefest and present frenzy etc.

TS wtf is going on you organise some sort of sleep-text-group thing and completely leave ds2 out of it you make blardy sure he's on the list tonight or I'm coming round there to sort you out . Good work on your kitchen btw, where tf do you get all your energy from?

CC any house news?

Everyone else, waves, I have to make our cup of Rosie and get in to Masterchef. Did I mention the other day I needed to get a life... ??

Went to gym today for first time since sick, did 4.2k on the cross trainer thing (half an hour) and feel as if my lungs have never been used to breathe properly until now! V weird. Big walk in morning too so feel have earned small square of choc and my cup of Earl.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 10/02/2009 20:34

ooh hello Sausage why don't you come on more? I cannot stay to find out! Contestants are lining up!!!

VG house news.....we got an offer today! It's too low, of course, but we are hoping to negotiate. The house we want seems to have disappeared off the market But we think they are just changing agents so therefore not actually being marketed atm . Well done on you x-trainer efforts, thats a fair old distance!

sazz well done on your scary driving and marathon swim! Phew. I'm exhausted just reading about all this exercise

Happy Birthday to masterpetitfilous for tomorrow.

s&M when do you see the dietician again? Can you ring to chat with him/her before your next appt?

Sods law, ds2's mn sensor has just gone off...
