Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TwilightSurferGoIreland · 09/02/2009 20:35

somebody call the doctor
i have a splinter!!! OUCH!

good news: DH scheduled for snip-snip....20FEB!!!

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 20:36

Glad I haven't killed us!

Thanks guys, Sazz I had just been thinking about writing a letter to dsis

TwilightSurferGoIreland · 09/02/2009 20:38

Captain, I watched dsis-n-law get deeper and deeper into her acoholism. NOT ONE PERSON ATTEMPTED TO HELP HER. At 14 her daughter asked to go to a councelor and after 3 weeks of counceling she asked her mother to attend the session only to tell her she was moving 5 hours away to live with her grandparents. My dn was DONE with all the drinking.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 09/02/2009 20:45

CC {{{HUGS}}} for you and DNiece - I don't have anything to add except will keep you, Dsis and DNiece in our prayers.

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 20:50

now O has woken up!!

No she doesn't admit she can't cope with her dd. She thinks she is doing fine!! She also thinks I will let her look after ds1 for 2 after-school pickups when i go back to work next month. Not happening.

I am starting to realise that she is killing herself and I cannot do anything about it . I keep praying social services will bloody do something

hotterpotter · 09/02/2009 20:52

VG thank you for my Valentine name

CC , you know all our thoughts and love are with you and your family I hope your sister can find her way back from this.

No1 glad your party went OK. How's Marcus? Have you had him to the doctors? I was in TKMaxx on Saturday, they had some romper suits by the same designer as his otter top and I got one for Isaac, it's got rabbits and flowers and blue sky. He looks fab in it and very springlike!

Have had quite a nice day today, been round to my friend's this morning for coffee and chat, then out for a long walk with DS this afternoon in the sunshine as part of my hot mamas targets. Walked round the posh part of town looking at the pretty houses and then round the local castle admiring the view across to the Pennines still blanketed in snow. It's Sandal Castle which is at the top of the hill that the Grand Old Duke of York marched up. Not much of it left now though!

Wish I could help Sazz but Joe has woken up crying after only an hour and nothing is seeming to help Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your sis CC.

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 20:57

TS here, use my tweezers to get your splinter out

potter well done on your walking. Must make more effor here on that front.

thank you all so much for letting me moan on here. I don't know what I'd do without the support tbh. Prob go more insane than I already am

Right, off to watch 24 then start writing letter to dsis. Think I will also ring social services (again) tomorrow. Will also ring al-anon for some advice/support.

hotterpotter · 09/02/2009 20:59

Oh Sazzles your poor DD. The only other thing on top of drugs I would suggest is pack DH off into the pink palace then hopefully at least one of you will get some sleep? I'm anticipating a similar night as both DCs full of cold and coughing / sneezing all over.

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 20:59

sazz have you got any teething powders? Also, try putting a spoon (a plastic one) in the freezer then let her chew on it (not much good for right now but for future use?)

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 21:00

Am sorry to hear about your dsis cc - perhaps wine not an appropriate drink to offer you at this point (sorry my sense of humour a bit black there)

Some people never know how to turn away from pressing the self destruct button. I think you are very limited in how you can help her until she decides to help herself. I am so sorry for your dniece.

TS Yay for your dh - Mr Sazzles can you smell the burning smell on this thread Dh still not up for it yet - have told him I am keen though

Buckets If I started pole dancing my dh would think I had gone quite mad. He is, sadly, very much a plain vanilla kind of man. I can quite imagine you getting into it though (not in a pervy way just in a yep that is Buckets kind of way )

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 21:00

durrr.... just read that you were talking about dd1 not dd2 . I doubt dd1 would want to chew on a spoon! Or take teething powders!

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 21:02

sazzles Give her some Nurofen as well - works much better on teething/ear ache/sore throats than calpol I find - and you can give them together as they work differently.

sazz Is it her molars coming through - in which case DEF nurofen is required - teething gel won't even touch the pain

I don't know, I don't know what to do. Am so tired after Worst Night Ever, worried that something's up with him and I'm not doing anything (even though he's not tugging on ear/got rash/inconsolable etc.).

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 21:05

Cyteen Has Joe got a tooth coming too?

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 21:10

sazzles Hope it works - I think after the initial giving them both together you are then supposed to alternate them. I've certainly done it before, with molars, chicken pox and ear aches with ds1

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 09/02/2009 21:10

Possibly - I mean, he's had a top one coming for a while but never acted like this. Do they get extra upset when a tooth actually breaks the gum?

He's also got a cold, and he had apple and banana for breakfast this morning. I guess it could be either of those. I just hate it when he cries, then I feel crap for finding it so upsetting

[pathetic]

LoveBuckets · 09/02/2009 21:12

CC Is she actually drinking again or just totally chaotic? She does sound like she needs some time on her own before attempting real life. Al-anon great place to start, plenty of people have been through what you are and I'm sure will be only too pleased to advise, good luck. Have you been on the MN relationships forum too?

Rotter, that looks quite a magical place but chilly.

TS Go go Mr Surfer! My DH now adores tight briefs since having to wear them after his op but I do find them rather comical myself.

PF friend of mine does burlesque - am v jealous! She is well into corsets and piercings at the mo (kind of having a second 20s as she had her first child at 22.) She is actually DS1's childminder, she does NOT look like a childminder! How's your DH doing by the way? It was him had the snip wasn't it?

Attempting to drop Kurt's fifth feed today as he's been taking less and less so I fed him at 3.30, put him down at 6pm and just gave him his 4th! Gone up to 8oz too to make up for it (a bit). Might be very tired in the morning...

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 21:13

cyteen yes imo

Unlikely to be the fruit unless constipated but I think you've given him one fruit that alleviates constipation with one that does the opposite so they would have cancelled each other out!

Have you tried Karvol for his cold - it works well on Toby?

And you are not crap for finding it upsetting - he is your little baby boy!
