if i were to be wanting to buy some white curtains for a nursery, where would you suggest i go? I know i know, i have fabric here and i should be making them but

also, any recs for a good blackout blind? might be enough just to have thick curtains at the window though

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/02/2009 16:40

miamla I lined my curtains with the blackout lining for the nursery. It is very good, but bought a blackout blind for dds room. cut a tiny bit too much so lets a little glimmer of light in

buckets yes I have my own in our gym (used to be a garage)
I stopped just before bump started to show as was too scared. I only started back on it last week. I started classes 3 times a week and one to one session on a saturday. Then bought a pole and some dvds.
It is great fun.
steak the dress is beautiful and I love the hair too.

buckets I started when dd was about 6 months ish. I am now starting with the basics again as I have lost a lot of upper body strength and I want to be careful with my back.

The dog needs clipping again as she looks mad.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 17:06

buckets I keep meaning to ask you if you've seen this the salvation army have a family tracing service I know you've done all the hard work already but all their counselling services etc may be of some interest?

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 17:20

no1 did you buy or make curtains? if you bought, where from?

i just can't find plain white curtains anywhere

LoveBuckets · 09/02/2009 17:22

Ooh thanks will have a looksee.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/02/2009 17:33

miamla I bought the curtains. I hand stitched the blackout linings. The curtains are alomost to the floor, very plain in Natural/beige. Got some gorgeous tassled/beaded tie backs from my mums shop too.
I bought them from my local fabric/home store
Dunhelm Mill. Not sure if you have one near you.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 17:41

buckets meant to say they don't do a tracing service involving adoption but as you've already done that you may be able to use some of their advice/resources etc

Buckets and Miamla - my DH was given a uke too. He is pretty good on guitar but he hasn't given much time to the uke. Buckets and Mr Miamla and he could start a uke band.

no1 MIL did the hair, it was a little bigger at the back than I wanted. But I had had a three hour backcombing ordeal with a britney-dressed-as-witney-midget-french-hairdresser which left me with helmet head avec poo de chien. Fortunately she was so small I could jsut stand up and she couldn't reach close enough for any more damage. DH had to take me away before I hit her. It was awful, I will never be backcombed again!

I am already planning my 10th anniversary renew the vows do. I just want to do it all again so I can have another frock and without all the comprimises you make for parents, in-laws, people you've never met et al.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 09/02/2009 18:06

This was the other dress I was considering.

Or something like this

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 18:13

thanks no1, i'd forgotten about Dunhelm Mill

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 09/02/2009 18:24

Miamla I got mine at ASDA and then my mum I stitched in the linings myself. The curtains were only £17 I planned on buying some better ones when I found them but these are doing the trick.

DD and I went out to get her passport piccies today and then to get her form checked at the post office - so hopefully she will be travelable soon - I need some sun.

LoveBuckets · 09/02/2009 18:59

STeaky Tell your DH the uke is just like playing the guitar with a capo on the 5th fret. Apparently once people get this it is really easy (it's all gobbledigook to me however.)

We have our 10th anniversary next year and had always planned to go to Vegas but I'm thinking it's still too soon for a foreign holiday to be ANY fun at all with kids. So have informed half-greek almost-engaged friend she is to get married in Corfu next Whitsun so we can have a long weekend there sans enfants.

Anyone got some tissues? Am feeling utterly frustrated/annnoyed/pissedoff/murderous towards dsis and her alcoholism, and her attitude towards her dd. I can't even think straight about it anymore

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 20:25

I killed the thread again?

LoveBuckets · 09/02/2009 20:34

Oh CC can't imagine how rotten you must feel watching it all. Does she even admit that she might not be able to cope with her DD yet?
