Maybe they've started a club? Seb is currntly asleep on the boob. Am about to put him in his cot. Then going to have a sleep myself hopefully.
steak your dress is lovely!

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 09/02/2009 12:24

If there is a club Izzy isn't a member. Will snooze on me and then last 15 mins in her cot. Hence all the long walks in the afternoon. Still nights are good so can't complain too much.

Thanks for compliments on my dress.

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 12:24

agree with the girls Steaky your dress is lovely. I got married in pale blue which probably wasn't the best idea when one is a pale blue skinned scots burd but hey, there we go!

Dylan also asleep she has one of these so I popped her in it whilst unloading the washing machine. popped some stuff into drier came back through and the wee lamb had fallen asleep with her face resting on the bouncy crab have taken her up to her lovely cosey/comfy cot and now she's giving off

tried to give her some solids this morning, finger of toast and porridge off a spoon but she wasn't interested at all

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 12:26

oh and DH away to B&Q to get some bulbs for cooker hood I've been asking him to get me for weeks - apparently HAS to be done today even though he's training tomorrow and drives right past it

well he's now accompanied by DD2 so that'll teach him

off to check on the soup - leek, potato and cauliflower - looking a bit too 'green' at the moment

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 09/02/2009 12:32

dizzy - I am thinking about something like that for lil one. What do I say to DH to convince him. He says she has enough "stuff".

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 09/02/2009 12:33

Blimey time got away from me, I am allezing off to French class.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 12:38

VG ssssh! DS will hear you and then he'll be all jealous that he hasn't got one!!

'green' leek, potato and cauliflower soup sounds nice. Sounds like you should have left Dylan with her crab! I hate it when you move them for an 'uncomfortable' position, put them in a nice cosy cot and they wake up

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 09/02/2009 12:44

Oooh dizzy we have that (in butch blue, obv), it was ds1's and he loved it, ds2 loves it now too. It's soooo useful. Looks as if it's been a bit updated since 1998 though...

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 12:45

steaky all of mine have had one, well DD1 and DD2 shared the same one that was fit for nothing but incineration after they'd been through it so we used some cash she'd been gifted to get her one - love them, wouldn't have a rocker but I love these - worth getting one second hand of hand me down if you can

miamla its not the best I added too much single cream as I had a tub that was due to go off and thought feck it and slung it in - its now a case of cream soup with a hint of cauliflower

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 12:48

VG its been updated since we bought ours for DD1 5yrs ago and its only minging raspberry pink as it was cheaper

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 12:50

dizz, stick a bit more veg in, it'll be fine!

ooh, i made this last night. very easy, very tasty

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 09/02/2009 12:52

that was me using up all the veg before it had to be thrown out all I've got left are some cherry tomatoes and a red pepper which I need for tea!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 13:04

oh, i'm out of ideas now i'm afraid! Oooh, unless your neighbours like the sound of green soup and you can do swapsies with whatever they were planning on having for lunch?

Expectant · 09/02/2009 13:05

Hi All,

Sorry have been AWOL for a rather long time. All the talk of snow makes me want to be back in the UK for at least 10 minutes. Sending you all some sunshine and warm weather.

A brief update. DS doing ok but has dropped to 25th centile on weight chart. He is crawling though which is keeping me busy. I went back to work mornings only last week which is going ok at the moment. Had great Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year and also took DS on his first holiday which was great.

longway or anyone else who has done a longhaul flight with LOs - any advice?

Aaaaah!! ML has taken Seb off for a bit, so about to grab a bite to eat, then have a nap.
See you all later.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 13:38

Hi all
I feel so behind when I can't get on at the weekend!
Short summary : MIL here but was actually a great help and didn't say anything rude , ds1's 5th birthday party yesterday which went really well (made him an army cake with soldiers on top which he loved!), Grampa still in hospital and Toby still coughing and coughing and coughing at night.

My interests (apart from my family):
Seeing friends
Clothes (given the chance but currently no money), and good skincare products (sorry dull and vain!)
Walking and generally being outdoors
Reading - but no time atm
Dogs but having one would be like having four children atm therefore don't have one
Doing up the house but only the decorating part
Cooking and eating good food
Cinema but never go anymore

oops I liked your suggestion so I stole it

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 13:41

sazzles Surely the oil company will get there soon

Those with older dcs what are you planning for 1/2 term. Mine is looming over me like a big dark cloud.

petitfilowersandchocolates · 09/02/2009 13:44

steaky the dress is beautiful. I used to wear things like that when I was about 18 but not anymore! I was a size 10 then (sigh)

longwayfromhome · 09/02/2009 14:22

Hi Expectant,

Ask for a bassinet, so that you can put your baby down, although you can't keep the baby in there if there is turbulence.

If you can afford it get your baby his own seat and take your car seat (make sure that it will fit) - we didn't do this, but would give you some more space.

Put him in a baby grow, and just take several more baby grows for changes of clothes. They are about the right temperature for the plane and you don't have to worry about pyjamas or day and night etc.

breast feed at the smallest cry - but in my experience you don't need to do this on take off or landing, even though people will tell you that you do.

play with him on the changing table in the loo if he likes bright lights.

ask the stewardess to keep an eye if he is sleeping in the bassinet and you need to go to the loo. alternatively take lots of towels and lie him on a towel on the loo floor if you are travelling alone and need the loo.

calm him down in the loo if he is screaming his head off

bring a mountain of wipes and alco gel if you are going to spend any amount of time in the loo.

bring a sling.

walk him up and down the plane in the sling until you are both bored out of your minds.

book a night flight so he will sleep for the majority of it

once you arrive keep him awake until his new time zone bed time

let him watch TV

Some of these ideas came from here, which is also worth a read

Ladies, having got into the swing of name changing, I hope you like the new moniker?

Trying to paint the dining room whilst entertaining ds2 is proving a little tricky....

CCsbdayisthedayaftervalentines · 09/02/2009 14:52

call the police, I've killed the thread

LoveBuckets · 09/02/2009 15:11

No1, did I see poledancing on your list of hobbies? Do you have your own and if so how often do you do it? BTW you have a very photogenic dog.

Steaky That is just the perfect dress isn't it?
OOh ooh, shall we all post our wedding photos / fantasy wedding dress pics on profiles?

Things I like:
Shagging DH natch
Singing and harmony singing workshops/choirs
Jamming with DH (note I play guitar/uke like Phoebe from Friends)
Cooking and eating
Hanging out with intelligent, stimulating women - don't get to do it much as am crap at smalltalk irl hence enjoying this thread so much. Also NCT committee meetings are v inspiring, such amazing women.
Like Sazzles, remodelling houses (even just for fantasy) is a BIIIIG source of fun. Would love to have the cash and the contacts to be a Sarah Beeny type.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 09/02/2009 15:21

i think you'll find that the police are out buying new bulbs for cooker hoods today

hey buckets! you play your uke, just like my DP plays his!
