LOL
Dizzy has the LIFE, doesn't she.

Japanese for lunch here.
No outside play yet just naps for me.

Tried to find rugby on tv...no luck. Will have to find a good internet site in order to see what ya'll are seeing. Stuck on gymnastics now. DD1 keeps saying "i could do that."

alittlebitshy · 08/02/2009 18:52

got cold. feel crap. in bad mood. dh doing bathtime and claims will put both dc to bed solo but i suppose i'd better get off arse and do ds's bedtime.

Chinese later though. Yum.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 08/02/2009 20:08

Oh dear not such a great afternoon for folks.

Albs hope you feel less crap, I am jealous of your chinese, haven't had a good one in years.

Dizzy - hope you don't end up wearing the soup too.

I finally got some time to sew this afternoon. Only finishing of a top I was stuck on, but still it is done, just needs a wash and I can wear it. It is a design I adapted to be able to bf without freezing my tits off (literally) now we are in the Alps. Before it was just hoik up your vest top and get a bit of a tan as you do.

Here is a pic of it, with brown stuffed dog standing in as the baby.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 20:57

Allo allo.

Steaky excellent top! Did you design it yourself or make it from a pattern? Or patt-ren as they say in Dub. What's the status of your copyright / no payment prob btw?

ALBS hope the Chinese cheers you up. Wassap?

Bouquets the adoption stuff sounds really fascinating!

On purees / BLW etc I am mixing too, though more that I am giving ds food that would normally be puree texture e.g. porridge rather than that I am mushing up stuff deliberately. Now today I gave him carrot & parsnip soup that we were having (obv took out his portion pre-salt) and he lapped and lapped at it, must say it was quite satisfying seeing it all go in. Also felt like fpg with snow outside and feeding small child warming homemade soup. Gosh doesn't take much.

I saw couple of other threads just now, one re. dummy mummy article today in the Observer, one re. people's interests (in wake of dummy mummy thing). Thought would be interesting for people to say something they are interested in, e.g. no1 and the pole.

Or maybe that is just cheesy and I need to get a life .

Do you know what, I do need to get a life.

Some of the things I am interested in:

dogs
walking
making stuff (jewellery, quilts, etc)
reading (a lot)
history
writing
garden stuff
and my boys

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 20:59

Theatre. A lot.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 08/02/2009 21:08

Some things I am interested in:

tattoos
voices
music (making and listening, although I don't do enough of either)
cooking
make up
my family
dancing and not caring what I look like

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 08/02/2009 21:15

VG - lovely new name you have there.

The pattern was one from Ottobre - I just added a front underlining bit and put popper tape on the front/arm seams. Its not perfect but I like it

I just have to interrupt this transmission to say how wonderful DH is, he has brought me tea and biscuits in bed.

I saw the dummy mummy thread too, I started reading the article but thought the lady was rather mean.

Things I am interested in.......

sewing and designing things - I have a shop on etsy but no time to sew for it at the moment.
cooking, but eating DHs cooking more.
writing - I'm bit of a blog addict
reading
dancing - I miss it and dream about it

As for copyrighting doo dads - I put a thread on the legal board so felt better for venting. In the end I said I would extend my deadline till March to allow them to have new copy on their website. Also gave them a couple of payment options, knowing they would not take it. They responded wah wah wah but it is our copy, we gave you words (wtf) so the copy is ours. They also said they had no interest in making the legal profession richer - so obv not going to sue just puffing their chests out. They have requested arbitration, but again I think it is just posturing. I am keeping a dignified silence till my deadline and then I will send everything to their webhosts who may or may not take down their sites.

A friend has suggested I then just post the copy all over the web so it has no search engine value to them, I am quite tempted.

so that's me.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 21:17

What do you mean, Voices?

rotterpotter · 08/02/2009 21:18

Evening all

Had a bit more success with food today, see he is 6 months today, obviously Friday was too soon at only 26 weeks, LOL! DS had a go at some roast sweet potato, he looked like he was enjoying it but I was getting paranoid he'd choke again, so mushed it up in my fingers and that went in OK, followed by half a raspberry fromage frais. I did let him hold the spoon a bit but have discovered that BLW not really for me, am too much of wuss . Will definitely include plenty of finger food though.

VG your soup sounds delicious, and porridge a good idea too.

Albs hope your Chinese cheers you Did you sort out the mean mummy at the school gates?

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 08/02/2009 21:23

Just all kinds of voices, singing and speaking I like the ins and outs of different people's accents, slang, the way they use words; I sing and love to hear all the different unique vocals in the world - Beyonce, Bjork, J Mascis, Nina Nastasia, Nomeansno, all kinds of shit that people do with their voices. I love it, it's fascinating.

rotterpotter · 08/02/2009 21:27

Things I like:
Reading
Music, not playing but listening and out-of-tune singing along
My garden, but it has been sadly neglected post-DCs
Cake
Final Fantasy
Would love to have a horse, or even go riding but don't have the cash for it . Always said I'd rather have a pony than children, got a bit sidetracked there

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 21:28

Nice thing to be interested in.

Steaky you have a good list too. I know it's a pain when you can't keep something up due to every second of your day being sucked away by a little someone, but the dancing and the sewing won't go away & you'll soon be at em again.

rotterpotter · 08/02/2009 21:28

Cyteen I love Nina Nastasia

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 21:29

LOL rotter I should have put cake too! What is Final Fantasy, sounds like a puter game?

When the dc are older you can go riding with them for a treat sometimes?

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 08/02/2009 21:30

cyteen - well I'm relieved for a moment I thought you meant voices from the beyond.....

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 08/02/2009 21:35

VG - thanks. I am considering going to dance classes again. I haven't done anything other than social dancing - jive, tango stuff - well for about 10 years. But there are a couple of studios here and it would be a good way to get rid of the extra mum bits I have.

I think it is something to do with feeling a bit lost and adrift at the moment so getting back into something that defined my life for a long time might help anchor me. Not sure if that makes sense - something to do with finding the Essence of Steaknife - sounds like a dodgy sleb aftershave.

'course I forgot to say diving. Hope to be back at that in the spring.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 08/02/2009 21:36

Well tea and biscuits have been consumed, time to clean teeth and log off.

Night all.

rotterpotter · 08/02/2009 21:41

Yes Final Fantasy a series of role-playing games for playstation, spells, fighting, that sort of thing. Haven't played owt for a while though, anyone going near the telly is wailed at to put cbeebies on

Steaky that top is great. It's very satisfying making your own stuff isn't it. Something else I used to do in my twenties but never find time for these days. It's quite hard to come by decent material round here, I wish we had a John Lewis.

VG what sort of jewellery do you make?

rotterpotter · 08/02/2009 22:05

Where did everyone go?

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 22:24

Sorry flitting between ironing uniform, doing a thing for work, putting dogs to bed and cetera, cetera.

Re. jools, tis not very fancy stuff, semi-precious stones and silver, but I really want to do a silversmithing course, there's one at the art college here I have my beady eye on.

Kate Winslet looked absolutely gorgeous in a black frock getting her gong there at the BAFTAs.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 08/02/2009 22:43

Right up at sparrowfart to finish work off night night laydeez.

HazieDazieandBaby · 08/02/2009 23:05

Evening girls!

Just popping in before I go off to bed. Fingers crossed for a good night for everyone!

TS can you get Reese to text Gabriella again? She slept 9pm - 6am without waking! Yay! Not expecting the same tonight of course, it seems to be an every second or third day sort of pattern she's on. Just enough to leave me scared to go to sleep for fear of being woken again 10mins later! So whilst she's enjoyed a few full night's sleep in the last couple of weeks, I still haven't had a full night's sleep since Thursday 21st August 2008! Not that I'm counting...

Oh, on that subject, I tend not to change Gabriella's nappy (disposable) from her last feed at 8pm/9pm ish until about 8am/9am ish. She has leaked through once or twice but nothing major.

When did you all start toast crusts, etc, during weaning? I started weaning about 5wks ago now, but have kept it to purees so far, she loves it and tries to get hold of the bowl and spoon! A bit worried to do anything lumpier as although we got a 'choking and resuscitation' postnatal class, I'm obviously not keen to try out my 'skills'!

Myinterestlist!
Reading (nothing more than the back of a baby rice box at the moment tho )
Playing my guitar (still learning!)
Music (listening to and singing along if I'm on my own!)
TV series' - Lost, Fringe
Family & friends
Medical stuff (Sounds a bit weird now I've written it down! I mean that I love hospital programmes, real-life and soapy type ones. Love all the medical terminology and watching procedures and things.)
People watching - both real-life sitting in cafes and documentary type stuff iykwim
Flat pack furniture - love, love, love it!

I love your voice thing too cyteen! Wish I was more creative like some of you, with your sewing, jewellery making, etc.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 08/02/2009 23:23

AnnVan · 09/02/2009 08:02

Morning all.
Well have had no sleep at all. Little man kept waking, and though he was easily settled each time, it was too frequent for me to get to sleep. 6 am just dropping off, DP's alarm goes off, he doesn't get up to turn it off so I do. Then Little man starts crying. Go through to see you him (walking fast) down step, full force onto upturned plug. Now have a big lump in the middle of my foot, and can't walk properly.

AnnVan · 09/02/2009 08:50

Oh apologies for lack of breakfast provisions. Am incapacitated, so hope you all understand.
