Hello.

Trace I went with your idea!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Olipop · 27/02/2009 21:09

I'm catching up with 'stenders and troughing heaps and heaps of chocolates. I've just had to push them away with the tv remote so that I can't reach them anymore!

traceface · 27/02/2009 21:16

oli I do that kind of thing, then 2 minutes later I get up and go and get them back! I just put the biccies back in the pack, but then another one managed to creep out into my hand against my will . Then I wonder why my jeans are so figure-hugging!

arti - if we're being twins then I'm afraid you have to go to bed now...

night night

Veggiemummy · 27/02/2009 22:00

Oli that's great about your job, I don't get why more places don't get mums to jobshare they are basically getting 2 great minds for the price of one (maybe a little extra for HR).

Trace I have been wanting biscuit, you may have tipped me over the edge.

kayzr · 28/02/2009 08:07

Morning!!

DS1 slept all night!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great!!

I never thought in a million years I would be so happy that DS1 slept through, I thought it would be DS2 I'd be trying to get to sleep all night.

Hope you are all well.

lal07 · 28/02/2009 08:08

Oli that's great news about your job. Am thinking of trying to get a jobshare sorted for when I go back. Still seems like ages away though.

Trace am so sorry Lucy is sick - I hope she's a bit better today.

Summer I hope your rat problem is being sorted. I have a real rodent phobia - when I lived in my little Greek St flat a mouse once swung itself in on the curtain as I was sitting by the window. So I ran and stood on a chair in the kitchen to scream. Too much Tom and Jerry. We saw a mouse here the other day and had previously agreed that if we saw mice we'd get a cat. Apart from now we're getting two. DH keeps reassuring me this will be no problem and that we should name them after a fast bowling pair. So our cats are going to be called courtney and curtly.

Veggie/Cat that yoga thing looks lovely. Am starting a new class next week but could really do with that kind of intensive teaching.

Turnip Scotland being suggested here too. I think I might actually disappear if I get any more pale. I just want a bit of that kind of sun that warms your bones...

Oh and I now fancy biscuits and guinness. Am so suggestible.

Apparently Grazia has a 25% off Whistles voucher this week - so am dragging DD to try on a dress I've had my eye on. Although could also do with new coat. Hmm - am really bad when there's big discount in a 'more you spend the more you save' kind of way. Shoppers' logic.

Arti/LadyT crossing things for your houses. And Verso hope last night was easier.

rosmerta · 28/02/2009 08:14

Morning all, I don't know where the last couple of days have gone, I've been really busy with child benefit applications, nursery school applications & trying to organise ds2's baptism, so nothing very exciting for me!

verso hugs to you, that is an impossible night. No advice I'm afraid though, did you ask your mum for help in the end?

lal nice to see you back, agree you must spill some of the antics!

wg have a nice time at the wedding!

turnip I loved that video, it even made ds1 giggle!

arti congratulations on the house, that's fantastic!

oli that's great news about work, I was trying to work it out, this is the job you were doing when we met first time around?

Ds1 has started to play with ds2, he gets a toy and generally waves it at ds2 saying 'look, look' & grabs ds2's hand to try & make him hold it. Its quite sweet really! Plus ds1 tells me when ds2 is hungry or tired just in case I didn't know!

rosmerta · 28/02/2009 08:16

trace hope dd1 is feeling better. Enjoy your night out, the first time dh & I went out after ds1 was born, I think we were home after about 90mins because I couldn't bear being out any longer! Ds1 was fast asleep & hadn't noticed that we'd gone out at all!

rosmerta · 28/02/2009 08:21

I must admit, I do like the idea of the yoga holiday, I wonder for a birthday present? I need to find another class as the one I used to go to starts at 7pm, there's no way I can get there for 7 now

daisydora · 28/02/2009 08:25

verso how are things going any better? DS was a little monkey last night just wouldn't go to sleep and spent from 2-4.30 trying to settle him. I was thinking of you and hoping you weren't having such a bad night again.

trace Hope DD1 is better and you get to go out.

Right I need to get dressed I'm determined to have a productive day today instead of just being on MN all day! Although I am very tired and a day on the sofa sounds so appealing but I very much doubt DD is going to go along with that.

BTW MIL asked me yesterday if I was planning on weaning soon . I'm sure she hates me bf, as it means she can't hold DS for the entire length of our visit Therefore I will bf him till he's 10!!!!!!!!!

Morning all, a comparative quickie as I have dashed through the thread and want to type this before DD and DP wake up...

Really pleased about Jam's DH's job and Oli's potential jobshare! Hooray hurrah. Kayz, any luck for your DH?

Daisy, I read your other thread re: MiL and I know where you are coming from. I would be puce with annoyance. She sounds extremely trying. On a similar theme, hope WG is managing ok at wedding.

Trace, sorry about the babysitting experience. Is Lucy any better?

Lal, was your flat in Greek St in Soho? I am super jealous if so. I heart Soho... I am a member of a club there (a very quiet one, NOT the Groucho) and when I go I pretend it's my house. Sad. And are your cats REALLY going to be called after Messrs Walsh and Ambrose? Very, very, impressed. DD nearly had Willow in her name (for my cricket team) but we'll save that for the next one

Turnip - Scotland is nice. But you NEED sun. Tell your DH his kids will get rickets if you don't get some solar power.

Verso...I hope things are a little better.

I was in London on Thurs (visited office, which was weird - my assistant and the girl covering my mat leave clearly don't want me back as they are enjoying doing my work - as if I could be replaced! - and I must say I felt very wistful. Especially as I will be working from home. No more pottering round Primrose Hill and Camden and Hampstead at lunchtimes )

Rest of time has been looking for a new car and dealing with DD who has a cold. DP got bloke acquitted (amazing) so he has done very well. And house negotiations are at a delicate stage - should know more today....

Must go as DD crying xxx

kayzr · 28/02/2009 10:50

No luck yet LadyT. We look on the job centre website everyday. If he wants to sell double glazing its fine but he can't drive and I personally can't see many people buying double glazing with the recession and all that.

I do agree that Scotland is very very nice. I got a gorgeous tan when we went on honeymoon but it's not guaranteed is it? We were planning our holiday but hadn't yet booked it(thank god) when DH was laid off. So no holiday for us this year. We are tempted by a week in Whitby if we can find a dirt cheap holiday cottage.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 28/02/2009 11:12

Lady if only we'd known each other in our former lives, we could have met for lunch at Poppies, or Manna or had Giacobazzi's on the Heath. Why didn't you use Willow, that would have been a lovely middle name for O. I keep saying it over in my head and the 2 names sound lovely together.

Lal it's not a course in yoga but lots in a few days with a really good instructor so really good for improving. As long as you have even a basic idea of yoga and the a grasp of the importance of the breathing you'll be fine.

What is it with all the MILs telling how to feed cheeky beggers. So funny Daisy you def feed as long as possible out of spite.

Kayz what is it with double glazing there is a double glazinh shop near where I take ds1 swimmng that always has a sign up for salesmen.

I tried to win £10,000 yesterday Kayz and if I did I was going to give you £500 so you could get a box seat at crufts (if they have them) and do it all in style. But alas I didn't win.

Veggiemummy · 28/02/2009 11:15

Actually we went on a canal boat holiday in Scotland with some friends when DS1 was about 11 months old and it was sunny and 27 C all week. We came home so tanned and no one in London believed we had been holidaying in Scotland. We all got terribly burnt on the first day because we hadn't packed sunscreen.

kayzr · 28/02/2009 11:41

I am tempted by a lottery ticket tonight, it would come in really handy!!

Veggie that Ibiza trip sounds gorgeous. I have had so many fab holidays there (though not much earth mother type behaviour went on as they were all pre children)

For our part we are having 4 days camping in a Teepee at 'Sandy Balls' in the New Forest, so not quite so glamorous.

Daisy I haven't read the MIL thread but you have my sympathies anyway-it is a minefield negotiating the in-laws

LadyT-I am sure the assistant/mat leave cover are not as good as you. I love the way you talk about London-so many people seem to moan about it down here, it's good to read positive things about it.

Verso hope things are improving

We are going round to a friend's for dinner tonight and have a baby sitter for the older kids. Have to bring DS2 with us, but still-this will be our first evening out together since his arrival. My best friend's new man is cooking for us so will be interesting to meet him properly. Her Creative Director 'I am so important the advertising world cannot run without me and my coke habit' husband left her when her son was 18months old, so am really pleased a couple of years on she has met someone who seems a lot more genuine.

LadyThompson · 28/02/2009 13:39

Major, my DP would agree with the naysayers that London is rubbish, he has never liked it. He likes the restaurants there and that's it. Ah well. Ooh, so pleased for your friend. I have encountered a few people like her ex in my lifetime and I wish a plague on the lot of them. Have a lovely time.

Cat, I'm really glad you are getting away. I find the BabyBjorn fantastic but they are really dear to buy - we were given our used one. As to the formula, I think it is just time. DD is so different now, wind wise.

Veggie, we nearly did use Willow. It was a toss up between Octavia Florence Alice, Octavia Poppy Alice and Octavia Willow Alice.

Kayz, if I get this house, you are welcome to use it for a holiday but the Cotswolds is no good unless you have a car. We wouldn't be moving in to it until the autumn you see. Same goes if anyone fancies a country weekend. I will keep you posted on that (getting ahead of myself seeing as we haven't bought it yet!)

artichokes · 28/02/2009 14:34

Lol LadyT, you are just like me, making all sorts of plans for your house before it is even yours. I am trying to make DH go to Lotts Road auction with me tomorrow as there are some lovely art deco sofas that i think would look great in the new living room...

Kayz - i am playing the lottery too tonight. if i win you can go to crufts in a limo and i will go and do the ibiza retreat.

Cat - might T be dairy intolerant? DD1 was ok with dairy in my breast milk (although sick alot) but formula had a terrible effect on her. we were prescribed a formula called neocate which has no dairy at all. we never used it though as it tasted terrible.

Rosmerta - isn't it lovely when the toddlers play with the babies? good on your ds1. sometimes dd1 tells dd2 stories and does dances to make her laugh and it is so lovely it breaks my heart.

last night i dreamt i was pregnant again. i was so terrified as i knew i could not cope with 3 under 3. i woke up cold with fear and then woke dh saying i wanted him to go out and buy a pregnancy test in case it was a premonition. ever sensible dh pointed out that as we have not had sex since dd2's birth it would probably be a waste on money .

Cat just popping in quickly have just read your post about the bottle feeding. FF is a little harder for babies to digest esp when used to BF you could try mixing the Formula with EBM as it will make the F a bit easier to tolerate just remember don't shake the EBM just gently swill the bottle to mix them together.

Rich back to read the other threads will probably find someone has alreay told you this.

Oh and now you have said you are going I am considering it but am so tempted by Ibiza... What to do what to do? Gosh I sound a bit of a princess fretting about whether to go to a luxury retreat on an amazing farm in Wales or a resort in Ibiza? Some of my RL friends would find that hilarious coming from me being that I usually go camping.

Arti that is so funny about the pregnancy dream. I have always wanted to go to Ibiza but when I was a bit younger I had assumed it would be something other than yoga altering my consciousness.
