CSWS - good call re not waking Poppy up, she slept through until 5.40 this morning! I think she was rather hungry though...by the time I'd changed her and given her the domperidone, renitadine and gaviscon she was rather desperate and "latched on" to my jaw!!!!! It was so cute!!!
Anyway, DH later said what's that on your face - she's only given me a bloody lovebite!!! I had to go for her second set of injections with a lot of makeup and a scarf on!!!

She was a trouper for the injections though, I bf'ed again. She's in a much better mood today (as am I!)

I've decided to go dairy-free , starting tomorrow as I need to go get some supplies in. I'm taking my mum with me who is allergic/ intolerant of loads of things including dairy so she'll be able to help. Is there anything that I can snack on like cake/ choc bars - flapjacks or anything like that? I'm gonna get loads of pistachio nuts and sultanas too because I like them.

CSWS your thread re lactose/ CMP has really cleared things up in my mind, thanks very much for that.

Will I need to worry about being deficient in anything, eg calcium as a result of this? DH is not keen on the idea for this reason.

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 13:37

BTW, my starting tomorrow has nothing to do with the fact that it's Shrove Tuesday today

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/02/2009 14:03

hello all

argh find it so hard to keep up with everyone getting moving so quickly, and now Ethan's only napping for half an hour at a time I rarely get any time to myself (except to post panic threads in the sleep section!)...only on now because my mum's settling him for a nap!

Sorry for mums struggling with dairy etc - Ethan tends to be much more windy and unsettled when I have a mega load of dairy (so down to just one hot chocolate a day and not on the same day as a fat wodge of cheese) and I find that tough enough!

Taking him swimming this afternoon so desperately hoping he does go down for a nap soon so he won't be chronically overtired - also I think he's storing up a big poo to let rip in front of all the yummy mummies at waterbabies this afternoon!

As ever, will do my best to at least read to keep up

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/02/2009 14:15

Just a quickie - which shops you going to honeymoon? For all of them check out the 'free from' aisle, but I can offer other suggestions depending on which one you use...

Marthasmama · 24/02/2009 14:21

Honeymoon - M sometimes gets a bit frantic too but she has a tendancy to 'latch on' the wrong bit of boob. 'not cute and very OWWWWW! I end up with a nice bruise. That'll teach me to not watch what she's doing!

Poor M is not looking very pretty today. She has eczema on her cheeks and her forehead in addition to the puffy, yellow pusy eyes. Unfortunately she keeps gouging her forehead and is covered in tiny scratches. It looks like we've been sandpapering her head. We haven't, honest!

GWTMH - We really want to take M swimming but she keeps getting aliments which prevent it. I'm going to take her swimming costume back tomorrow as by the time she can actually use it, it will be too small!

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 14:29

I'm just going out the door to Tesco - any quick ones?

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 14:36

I'll have to go, I'll get them next time, thanks

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/02/2009 14:42

Sorry, just missed you. 'Respect' organic carrot cake. Not in free from aisle, but is dairy free and v yummy. Look for a white box.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/02/2009 16:04

for conjunctivitis mm. for squirting bm in though - always my preferred cure.

Yay for Naomi sleeping through. I presume that your ds is a late riser too if you can stay in bed that late?

Is the potty training working pepper?

for Poppy going through too. And for committing to go dairy free. Sorry I just missed you earlier - am hoping that someone will have caught you with my fb message.
Can you get to a waitrose at all? The mini jam doughnuts from their bakery (bags of 10) are dairy free, but Tesco's ones aren't. If you like marzipan then W also sell 'Lyme Regis' choc coated marzipan bars which are yum. The 'village bakery' range is also good for cakes, but again W has a much bigger selection of these.
Anyway, let me know what you got and what you're still missing.
Holland & Barrett sell a soft 'cheese' called toffuti, which is ok, and can be cooked with. I bought some yest to add to a risotto, which I think I might make for tea tonight.
There's no reason to become deficient in calcium. Use a calcium enriched milk sub (rice oat or soya), sprinkle sesame seeds on roasted veg (yum), snack on dried figs, and eat plenty of leafy green veg.

at lovebite. Dd did that to me once too.

Welcome back GWTMH. How was swimming?

Thanks very much CSWS. I have some osteocare vitamins and I think they're OK to take so I'll take them to make sure.

I got my shopping, it's actually made me feel a lot more optimistic, I was amazed by all the things you can get. I did go a bit mad at the "free from" aisle, picked up all the lovely cakes that were "free from milk" then realised there was a separate label for "free from dairy" But I did quite well, got loads of snacky things. I was going to go to Holland and Barrett but decided to leave that for another day. I'm going to have a last splurge tonight, have just had my last toffee crisp, am having a lovely curry that I made earlier in the week then froze for tea then pancakes with ice cream Gotta go out with a bang, eh???

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 17:15

Oh I forgot to say MM - very funny re then I'm sorry to hear she's suffering so much then, give her a big hug from me!

Our nearest Waitrose is 25 mins away unfortunately CSWS.

Marthasmama · 24/02/2009 17:23

I will do Honeymoon! DS is trying to avoid his eyedrops because he doesn't want to go back to school tomorrow. Mmmmmm....Toffee Crisp. I'm meant to be dieting at the mo, but you've really made me want chocolate.

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 18:03

I'm sorry! Try a yummy apple instead mmmm apple...

We're back to green poo and quite loose considering we're on gaviscon - anyone get this with injections/ teething/ both??

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/02/2009 18:08

hello all again...DS is sleeping and has been for an hour (totally unheard of for the last few weeks)...normally he's having his bath by now then last feed at 6:30 and bed so not really sure what to do. Swimming was great, he was a bit hungry so a bit miserable but kept his pecker up (also I got bloody cold so am sure he was the same), clearly he's exhausted from the exercise.

Not sure whether I ought to wake him up, but he only fed at 5 so won't be hungry enough for a proper feed - I def don't want him sleeping for the night now (with all this usual wake ups) and then thinking 5am is start of the day, but he's horrible when I wake him up - which is fair enough I think!

Think I'll just leave him, if he wakes before 8 (when it'll have been 3 hours since he fed) I'll try putting him back down as early as poss and if he's still asleep at 8 I'll wake and feed him...ugh constant rejuggling!

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 18:14

Sounds like a good plan GWTMH. Poppy doesn't sleep much in the day either...even when I took her swimming!

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 20:02

I posted a new thread earlier to get ideas for dairy-free treats, I've got some great responses, may be useful for all you dairy-free girls?

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 20:23

And this is a good summary of lactose intolerance v milk protein - altho not as good as CSWS's!

Um...where IS everyone tonight???

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/02/2009 20:34

We're all enjoying listening to you talking to yourself hmm .

It was Mrs Crimbles stuff I meant when I said village bakery - the other thread reminded me, though both have some nice products.

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 20:54

Ha ha!

Poppy just went for my jaw again!! I think she liked it!!! I ducked out of the way this time, DEFINITE growth spurt in the Honeymoon house methinks!!

aubergenie · 24/02/2009 20:58

I've been busy stuffing my face with pancakes with nutella. Yum!!

Great that you sound a bit chirpier HMM. Glad you got some good responses to your query.

Quick question I hope someone can answer. I've got some expressed milk that's been in the fridge since the weekend. I don't want to waste it, so I want dp to give it to ds when he wakes at about 10.30 so I can get some extre sleep.

Can we warm it now and keep the bottle in one of those insulated bottle thingies that come with your changing bag until then? It could be in there for a couple of hours. Will that be safe? I just want to avoid ds screaming the place down until it's warm. Thanks guys.

Honeymoonmummy · 24/02/2009 22:18

I don't know Aubergenie sorry.

I've just eaten 4 pancakes and a lovely pint of milk, I feel very sick now

I'm off to bed anyway, dairy-free here I come!!

Night all, hope you all get a good nights sleep!
