Awww lovely myjob. We really must try and sort out a date for ds' Christening, but we're not sure who we want as Godparents yet, or whether we can afford to throw a big party afterwards like we did for dd (dh isn't working at the moment, so we have no income).

Well done Alex. Ds rolled 4 or 5 times a few weeks ago, but hasn't bothered since.

myjob i have tried lots of different types of nappies. have been trialling pampers active fit today to see if the snugger leg fit might help... but two complete costume changes this morning i am thinking not

I am starting weaning in a couple of weeks (she will be 24 weeks) and i am hoping that will help with multiple probs, because between the reflux and the escaping runny poo i have a lot of washing!

we are flying to south africa for a holiday tomorrow night... very excited but nervous about a 12 hour flight... at least its overnight and she might sleep for most of it. anyone got any tips?

Honeymoonmummy · 18/02/2009 12:03

Hi all,

You do make me laugh CSWS .

Poppy is screaming crying less today but vomiting more - much more than she has for weeks. I'll see how she is after this feed then maybe call the docs again. Has anyone ever known a baby on all 3 drugs? The chemist told me to wait overnight when swapping from the gav to the renit + dom last week.

I went to the docs this morning for me, she said ligaments still soft for 6 months after the birth so probably that, that also explains the constipation - but she's doing a blood test anyway esp as my mum has fybroid myopathy (sp) which is a rheumatoid- type thing I think. Between that, the lansinoh and the constipation powders I came out of the chemist with a carrier bag

We've just had our bedroom carpet fitted, it's lush! HSL carpet tomorrow!

Honeymoonmummy · 18/02/2009 12:12

Well done for organising a dedication MyJob, I really must get round to that!! How is Naomi today?

Ksal what has your DD been taking for reflux? Good luck for the flight!! I read somewhere that newborns are easier cos the sound/ vibration knocks them out? Maybe take a sling on board so if u walking round with her she's safe if hit turbulence? See also this which I recently read:-

sling on the plane is a great idea! will have a look at that link...

She's not taking anything for the reflux, basically because she doesn't appear to be in pain and she is gaining weight really well.... she just pukes constantly and not just a little or just after a feed! its the fact that she is still bringing up clear liquid with white lumps in it 3 or 4 hours after her last feed that makes me call it reflux rather than just normal sicky baby behaviour... but luckily she's not upset by it.

We did have one incident of blood in her vomit, but it hasn't happened again. Sorry you're having so little success with the medication they have given you. I remember you said she was gaining weight well... maybe if the medication stops the pain for her you will be just left with a 'happy chucker' like mine?

aubergenie · 18/02/2009 13:02

Well done Alex! Ds shows no inclination to roll. I think it must because he's so fat and it would take too much effort .

Ksal - Have a great trip. I'm jealous. Would love to get out of London for a while.

Honeymoon- Hope your blood tests come out OK. You've really had your hands full recently haven't you.

Well, the slow cooker arrived today and looks very good for £12.99! Its got no recipe book, and the one I ordered on Amazon hasn't come yet, so I'm going to attempt a chicken Korma recipe someone has posted on here. I'm ridiculously excited, which is bound to end in dissapointment. Hmm. I really must get out more...

1sttimer80 · 18/02/2009 13:11

hi everyone... phew ok so I have been talking to the wrong people.. or more so that the wrong people have been talking to me! I want to wait until 6 months but because of the pressure from family I wondered if I was doing the wrong thing by waiting.

DS manged to roll over a couple of times but doesn't seem to be bothered he's coming up to 20 weeks. Should babies start to roll by now?

Aubergenie, let me know about the slow cooker.. I keep seeing it advertised and have always been tempted to buy one, but not sure whether the food tastes as good as it looks!

Honeymoonmummy · 18/02/2009 13:12

Good luck Aubergenie! I know what u mean, I got rather excited at prospect of going to docs alone!!

I ordered a bf ing necklace btw, this one. My first ebay purchase!!!

KSal · 18/02/2009 17:02

Hi 1sttimer80, you're not the only one waiting to wean... although i went to my local health authority weaning info session today and i was the only one who hadn't already started!

Emma is also not rolling and is 22 weeks - according to the 'birth to five' book the HV gave us it should have happened by now, but for once i'm not too worried!

Honeymoonmummy · 18/02/2009 17:56

Hi all,

I just bf'ed in public for the first time Well, apart from once at the baby cafe and a few times in supermarket car parks I met a few other mums in a pub and Pops started crying. I feel very earth mother now

star6 · 18/02/2009 19:30

Congrats Honeymoon!
Exciting about the christening myjob!

Off topic completely for this thread, but I feel like I know all of you, so wanted to ask your opinion... if a friend sends you an email that sounds like they are suicidal, is it breaking their trust if you can't get in touch with them and are in a panic to contact another friend (who you KNOW they trust completely and have confided in previously) to talk to and possibly check in on them? I don't want to break trust, I value it so much in a friendship, but felt a bit irresponsible keeping that to myself when I couldn't get in touch with her... did I break our trust or is this ok??

hedgepig · 18/02/2009 21:05

evening all.
I'm finding looking after DS1 and Ollie noe it is half term rather a shock to the system I'm so used to just being at home with O just doing baby things. We have been for a very exciting evening in Cambridge, the museums opened late and turned the lights low so there were 1000's of children careering around with torches looking at the exhibits.

1sttimer please don't feel bad about bottle feeding you gave bfeeding a try and it didn't work, at least we have an alternative. There was no one more suprised than me when O wouldn't bf (I had fed my older son) but it happened. My HV said to look for signs (said in a mystic Meg type voice), interest in food weight loss, stopping sleeping at night (if they were in the 1st place) etc but as CSWS says there is a 4 month growth spurt that can confuse the mystical signs .

Nice to see you back 1sttimer.
I have started weaning with William only because he was feeding 2-3 hour all the time. Also when he was finished on the breast he was still looking for more. I was exhausted. We even tried a formula top up but the little monkey was having none of it. It has all settled now. We are on breakfast and tea with all the normal feeds in between! Including a 3am! Hungry boy. I did really want to try baby led weaning this time!!

Star I dont think you have broken a confidence. I am sure your friend will thank you.

We finally got round to emptying our loft today. We moved before xmas! I found a box with all of DD1's first shoes. Oh my it brought back loads of memories. 9 years is a long time. Treasure your babies while you can.

I too have tried feeding at Paultons park. I decided the train was a bit too daring and stayed in the cafe

Star ? I agree with the others. Is your friend back is the USA? It must be a worry for you being so far away to get a message like that. I hope your friend is alright.

Well done for feeding in public Honeymoon! Lol at Myjob feeding while wandering round a theme park. I?m still not very good at feeding while walking.

Well, the chicken korma in the slow cooker was actually very nice. I?m looking forward to trying a few more dishes.

All this highchair talk has made me realise that we need to start thinking about it too. Personally, I would just get the cheapie Ikea one but dp wants the Tripp Trapp. I?ve been looking at them on Ebay and will try and get a second hand one as they?re quite pricey.

I gave ds some homeopathic teething granules last night and I don?t know if it?s connected but he would NOT go sleep. He was laughing his head off and squealing and just didn?t seem tired at all. I?ve been too scared to give him any tonight.

Ds not showing any mystical signs that I can see. He definitely isn't sleeping at night, but then he never has. I still don't think I've had more than 3 consecutive hours sleep since he was born. The couple of times he went 5 hours on the trot I woke up worrying something was wrong with him.

aubergenie - if you want like tripp trapp but cheaper then take a look at this. A friend just got one and is pleased with it.

Well done for public bf honeymoon, but also don't know how you've managed to go this long without the need arising!

Sounds like you did the right thing star. Even if the friend is pissed off with you, better a pissed off but alive friend than no friend at all.

Have a lovely holiday KSal.
