I wonder if the grobag socksuits would stay on poppy better hmm? We've just bought some which arrived today, but haven't put ds in them yet. Am thinking that it might be a bit harder to get her feet out of the sock bit.

Do let us know if you find anything interesting about early weaning hmm. What are your thoughts on it at the moment?

I'm not sure which of your high chairs I prefer overall myjob, but I like the cupcake cover better than the other.
We were hoping to go and look at our shortlist of 3 today, but only store we have found that sells all 3 only actually had one in stock that we could go and look at. Saw another good one in M&P in Birmingham, but too expensive again. Currently trying to decide between a second hand bloom (very few available, but one currently on that we could feasibly collect) or a new zuma. Found a very thorough video review of the zuma which is helpful, as well as an advertising video which demonstrates a couple of things well IMO.

Bought another slow cooker today, but this one is for my parents' birthdays (today and tomorrow!).

2 days in a row isn't bad at all myjob. Even a week is acceptable if she is suffering IMO. I think it was a pharmacist in Boots that I was talking to about this the other week (was looking for a herbal type teething remedy to avoid me giving ds too many days worth of 'proper' meds, but they were all in a lactose base), and she said that even a couple of weeks of it at a time wasn't a problem. Don't know if this was medical fact or just her opinion of course.

Will have a look at them CSWS, thanks.

We've been putting her in a mothercare nightdress with a bodysuit underneath a sleeping bag on top. She's just outgrown the nightdresses we've got so I'm currently just using a bodysuit and sleeping bag (2.5 tog) the bedroom is 18 degrees.

Re early weaning, I've been reading that thread you linked me to CSWS, thanks. Too early for me to make a strong opinion but my gut reaction is if at all possible to wait till 6 months. She's not showing any signs of being an early weaner, eg showing a pincer movement with her hands rather than just grasping. She's `5 weeks tomorrow so there's still time for the meds to take effect before she's 4 months.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2009 21:09

Did you look at them (blooms and 3 sixtis) 'in the flesh' myjob, or just on www?

OP posts:
loulou33 · 17/02/2009 21:10

i wouldn't say 2 nights is bad myjob as most colds etc last a few days so you would expect to have to give more than one dose iyswim. i think the research into asthma and calpol found that link based on children being given weeks/months of bedtime calpol rather than a few doses once in a while when they are ill. she's clearly under the weather and bright green poo tells you so, so its only fair to give her something to make her feel better.

Joe had his last appointment with the osteopath today, she's really pleased with his headd shape and only wants ot see him back if his head shape changes - will keep an eye on it!!

Honeymoonmummy · 17/02/2009 21:13

Just had a look at them CSWS - I suspect that even with these the legs will be too wide and she'll just wiggle her way out of them. Slippery little sucker - name that film!

I've got docs appt in the morning to see what's going on with my achiness, I'm moving around like an old woman!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2009 21:14

Know what you mean about it being a bit 'officey' myjob, but we sat ds in it, and he looked so comfy and cute! There was another customer in there who was considering it (had already read loads of reviews and stuff) and was really pleased to see a baby sitting in it to help her make her mind up too! Dh couldn't get the gas strut bit to work to move it up and down though, on either of their display models, so did worry about what that said about the chair. Assistants were all too busy to ask.

Dh is also worried about how stable the base of the 3 sixti would be, as that broken loop, and that is putting him off. Sure it would help if anywhere actually had one to look at!

Oh and Myjob, big hug for poor Naomi, I hope she feels better soon.

Was it Star who said something about calpol only once a month?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2009 21:16

The nightdresses are good though hmm. We have some for ds, and had a couple for dd too. Make night time nappy changes much easier.

My life is just so exciting pistachio!
I can talk about the 14 pairs of socks that I bought ds from baby gap today instead if you prefer.

myjob snap I have just got the chicco one too as was in sale in mothercare and used my voucher . it arrived the other day and I love it. It is not too big and looked at reviews and they seemed good. If tray is on it is bigger folded but I have put tray in the basket underneath. To be honest we had a cheapy one with dd1 and it had to lean against something to stay up when folded so this takes no more space and is safer as wont slide on to the floor. Love the fact the tray comes off too as it never with DD1's and was a pain getting her in/out when she was bigger.
We will have to take pics of N & P in them at 6 months and see if they look alike

DD1 been up as got my cough bless her, gave her cough medicine and medised in the end as so restless. I have night nurse and that has been knocking me out! Must be simular to medised!
myjob think calpol two nihts in a row is fine if it is helping. Better she feels better I think and sleeps better then grizzly and poorly. I still dont understand why chemissts dont sell Medised to under twos now when it says on the bottle you can give to 3 months plus surely there should be a set rule? I know people were over medicating but I thought it was fab with dd1 when she was full of cold as it really helped clear her and help her sleep.

I assume that the bottles were made/labels printed before the new rule came into effect jenwa. I was assuming that the next bottle that I buy would be updated (think we're still on our first or maybe second ever bottle), but have you bought one recently that still says 3 months?

OP posts:
jenwa · 17/02/2009 22:15

Yes got it afew weeks back as they asked which DD it was for and it was for DD1. The thing is I could have lied and said it was for DD1 when really DD2 and they would not have known, not that I would have though. DD2 was really snuffly other eve and unsettled and I did give her a very small does, half of what it said to give as I read the bottle and it said you could give to 3 months plus!
I never really thought the manafactures were changing the rule! ok well now I know for sure then!

jenwa · 17/02/2009 22:17

myjob I cant give medised to DD1 in the day as she becomes evil! I think she gets soooooo tired and fights it. I do think it is very much like night nurse and that knocks me out! It is scary how it can make you sleep deeply. I do only give it if really needed though and not for the sake of it. I am not a big medicine person and never take it enough myself, only been on night nurse as could not sleep for coughing and sore throat.

Sorry my spelling has been sooooooooo bad. I am tired!

1sttimer80 · 17/02/2009 23:26

HI Everyone,

I'm back so I keep doing disappearing acts!!

Little one is sleeping through the night (I can hear hisses of jelousy!) but during the day has no routine whatsoever. The whoel day is a frenzy of feeding, changing, winding and playing and maybe some sleep if I'm lucky.

Is anyone else had to bottle feed? I feel so terrible I couldn't give him breastmilk... I really feel like I'm a horrible mother for not giving him the best start to life... everytime he'd go anywhere close he'd just scream and scream and never took to the breat at all no matter what positions I tried.

Anyway... what are thoughts on early weaning? Should we wait until 6 months and really who does? The giodelines are so clear yet why does everyone I speak to wean early?! HELP!

1sttimer80 · 17/02/2009 23:27

I meant *sorry I keep doing disappearing acts!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/02/2009 09:51

Welcome back 1sttimer. If everyone you speak to weans early then you've obviously been speaking to the wrong people , though I accept that it is very common, largely because people are fooled by the big 4 month growth spurt. I hope to wait until 6 months, but I plan on doing blw, so if ds demonstrates that he is perfectly able to pick up food and eat it by himself at 5 months then I will accept that he is ready. Of course if I don't put any food near him then he can't demonstrate that to me, so he'll just have to wait til 6 months.
