reckon there is something in that amber (and sorry you're still poorly ) - know another few people where stopped thinking/adopted etc and got pregnant.. I know that booking a wine tasting holiday did it for me (tip sponge - nothing puts you off booze like sniffing wine in the first trimester )

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 17/02/2009 15:45

Wow sponge !!!! I am so happy for you!!! You ,ust be the happiest woman on the planet right now!!!

whinegums · 17/02/2009 16:53

Hi, I'm at my mum's this week, so haven't had a chance to check the thread until now... And bloomin' Norah, what news! Congratulations Sponge!

Love the idea of sex every day (might send that link to DP) but have no idea how to find the time.

Hiya GlasVegas, am here!! How is work going?

DramaQ, tell more about the thermal pots please!

Quick wave to everyone else.

bitofadramaqueen · 17/02/2009 17:11

here whinegums! Go through MN for 10% discount. Also some cool present ideas allnew for slightly older babies/toddlers.

abdnhiker · 17/02/2009 17:33

eek! just sent in my part-time request. Fingers crossed - I don't know what we'll do if it's refused. Probably go back full time briefly to ensure I get my maternity pay and then quit. There's just no way I can cope with working full time, two DCs, and a husband who travels with work....

Anyone have any experience lecturing with the open university? That appeals as a back up plan...

vivaGlasvegas · 17/02/2009 17:35

whinegums work is going OK, apart from getting there on time via nursery - doesn't open until 8 and have to be in for 830 on wed - a bit of a tight squeeze given the parking situation in the west end!

deb eek 15cm of snow stops Britain in its tracks - I'm assuming that you find everything carries on regardless!?

BDQ we had no luck with cough medicines either, no advice sorry!

essie any luck with the bottle today?

PenguinProject · 17/02/2009 18:12

Sponge - That is the best news I have heard all year. Congratulations!

Just popped on to catch up and now I'm crying with happiness!

DebInAustria · 17/02/2009 19:38

Viva - snow has carried on falling, we must have had 50 cms by now and it's drifting now. The main road is still open but you need chains, I've never seen so much snow fall so quickly. You must look at our webcam tomorrow when it's light

Whinegums - any news on the job?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/02/2009 19:43

What happened to Gary in Eastenders?

Amberc · 17/02/2009 19:43

Luke's second tooth has popped out now - he won't let us see them though and is constantly prodding with his tongue - must feel so strange for him. He gave me a good gumming though and it really tickles with that little shard sticking out!

He still has rotten diarrhoea but seems happy enough. Me - going to attempt going in tomorrow. I still feel sick but I can't stay home forever. Managed some soup today and some toast so must be getting a little better - hurrah.

Luke won't play with any of his other toys now we have the VTech walker - what have we done!!!?

Amberc · 17/02/2009 19:44

What happened to Louise in Hollyoaks?

DebInAustria · 17/02/2009 19:50

Amber - do you think Five might have posted on the wrong forum by any chance??
glad you're feeling better

FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/02/2009 19:53

No thought that some of you may have watched it and couldn't be bothered to trawl through other threads.

Amberc · 17/02/2009 19:53

I actually really do wnt to know what happened to Louise in Hollyoaks!

DebInAustria · 17/02/2009 19:57

Can't help either of you , sorry!!

Five - give me strength, we have a family staying in our large apartment and for some reason they have bought their 4 year old dd a Kazoo/harmonica - it is sooooo noisy.Unfortunately their living room is next to ours.

pureeandpearls · 17/02/2009 20:07

YOu have time to watch Eastenders and Hollyoaks?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/02/2009 20:10

Deb I am sending sympathies, alcohol and these for you

whinegums · 17/02/2009 20:14

DramaQ - ta for that, I clicked on the link, and now think my life won't be complete without an Inflatable Yogurt Carrier.

Deb, thanks for asking about the job, I haven't heard anything yet. Will post as soon as I do. Can't believe anyone would willingly give their 4 year old a kazoo fgs. I bet that's going to get 'lost' soon. 50 cm of snow should hide a kazoo quite well.

GlasVegas, aaarrrrghhhh nightmare West End parking... sympathies...

Can't help with either Hollyoaks or EastEnders, sorry.

Amber, hope you and Luke get better soon, sounds miserable.

DebInAustria · 17/02/2009 20:14

LOL Five, love them!

Thoughtthis articleabout getting babies to sleep was quite interesting.Might help someone.

Amberc · 17/02/2009 20:15

looks like Garry faked a suicide and is now in the south of france -don't know why

spongebrainbigpants · 17/02/2009 20:46

Sorry to disappoint Essie and neenz but God is having no credit for this baby - Mother Nature and my wonderful dh are getting it all!

Re: Times article, we never actually got round to doing it every night! It was just once - a whole new meaning to the phrase "one hit wonder"! Dh is now laughing at the irony that his attempt to rekindle our sex life has now put it on hold again for another year or so!! Poor man!

Thank you for all the new congrats today - you're all very sweet to be so excited for me, esp as I've told you all so early. Spent the day veering from elation to terror and am now exhausted. Oh and thanks for the virtual maid, footstool and cotton wool!

Went to the GP today - he did rather rain on my parade by sounding very concerned about the possibility of an ectopic - he then phoned the EPU at our local hospital and by chance got hold of the registrar. He said it was obviously much too early for a scan so I have had a blood test and will be having another one on Friday. The HCg levels will help give an indication of whether it's in-utero or not. They will then follow this up with a six week scan. So by Monday I should have some idea of whether it's a viable pg or not - absolutely bricking it tbh .

I also emailed my lovely IVF consultant who has also offered to scan me - I was so touched as obviously this pg has nothing to do with her clinic. She really is one in a million as far as doctors are concerned.

Amber, sorry to hear you're feeling so rough - you poor thing.

Cough medicines - I've heard the same as Amber, all a complete waste of money. We just kept A as hydrated as possible but endured a few sleepless nights while we coughed himself awake.

Talking of sleep - A had a two and a half nap this morning! We then used CC to get him to sleep this evening and it took TEN minutes! We only had to go back in once and he was out for the count .

Right off to rest up .

Just a quick note - haven 't been on for ages.

Sponge, I am so happy for you. What fabulous news.

Debs, did you hear when you are going to be on TV?

spongebrainbigpants · 17/02/2009 21:40

Hi UDC, how are you? How's life?

And thank you .

OP posts:
Upsidedowncake · 17/02/2009 21:45

Sponge, just saw your most recent message re ectopic worries. It sounds like your doctor is just being very careful and taking lots of precautions.

I've actually had an ectopic, and spent two weeks having my HCG levels taken every 48 hours, so if you need anyone to talk to about what particular levels mean, I'm here for you. Regular pregnancy tests look at HCG as well. My ectopic pregnancy showed positive a week after it should have done (so the HCG levels were always low - I'd had three negatives that week.)

Upsidedowncake · 17/02/2009 21:47

We're fine, thanks, Sponge. new email - haven't circed it yet, isabellawpark at gmail dot com
