Poppy as resident expert on Baby Einstein which ones does Edie like? I found Baby Noah at the library today so Peter currently is trying it out, but I seem to think some of them were more appreciated that others. He just shouted at the wombat

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 17:08

baby noah is quite a favourite (although a fair amount of animal shouting goes on ). baby monet is prob real favourite (I got this on import from states) but baby da vinci, baby galileo (this is my favourite as gorgeous night sky shots) , baby neptune (this has good puppets although I do find the octopus in a sailors hat a bit ) and baby van gogh. neighbourhood animals one is intermittently popular (sometimes it generates a lot of interest -others not much).

tbh she is a bit less keen on baby mozart, baby beethoven as the puppet count is lower.

however given she'll watch anything I am not sure edie has much of a future as a tv critic

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 17:09

edie starting to mess about a bit at feeding times (quite good natureda bout it but pulling away , shutting her mouth at food incl some old favourites) -my tactic has been to feed her for a little while then give up on basis it might be encouraging her as behaviour thing (She seems fine in every other way ) - anyone else had this/any tips?

DebInAustria · 16/02/2009 17:25

Just a quickie to remind Ali to get the video ready for tomorrow, can you believe it's 8 months already?

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 17:26

talking of videos.. did you ever get a date for your tv programme deb? and happy 8 month birthday for E and P tomorrow

AliandHerScallywag · 16/02/2009 17:30

Poppy - maybe a future as a TV critic for Heat rather than the Guardian? Overall Noah is a thumbs up: the tears started once it was over.

Re: refusing food, P definitely is keener some days than others. Seems to get back in his stride after a day or two.

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 17:33

the elephant puppet on noah is loved here.. think you're right its a phase (it started over weekend) is happily sucking the tail of an ikea toy rat as we speak now...

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/02/2009 17:34

happy 8 month birthdays

well still sick, basically eating 3oz every 6 hours, waiting for the doc to call

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 17:35

oh 5 that is painful -hope doc calls soon

AliandHerScallywag · 16/02/2009 17:59

Actually Poppy after that excellent and thorough review, maybe YOU have a career ahead of you as a TV critic?

Deb x-post. Thanks for the reminder. I will do my best tomorrow. 8 months, it sounds so big

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2009 19:24

baby einstein at the library? .

Re: presents (who was asking - Ali ?) - current favourites at the moment are the wooden trike (ELC), plastic garage (ELC), sandpit or watertable suitable from 12 months plus (mothercare), or a blow the budget plastic outside gym with slide thingy from mothercare at £80. Wheelybug would be a contender but a friend is buying that for him.

Am still doing my assignment so I need to get going on it...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

AliandHerScallywag · 16/02/2009 19:35

They rent DVDs at the library.

Not me on the presents, far too mean for such frivolities

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2009 19:41

oops, sorry Ali it was allnew - I knew it was someone beginning with 'a'

Amberc · 16/02/2009 19:47

Hi All.Luke is still not right. Not sick any more but the worst diarrhea (sp) ever. It stinks as well. I was as sick as a dog yesterday all day. Can't remember the last time I was that ill and couldn't eat anything for 24 hours without it coming back up again. Mark is now in bed with the same thing. I have heard about a noro virus going round - Five maybe that's what your LO has got?

Had to leave work at lucntime. I shouldn't have gone in really. Typical - only been back 2 weeks and already off sick.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/02/2009 20:04

Think it might be amber - he is not to have any food until tomorrow and is on diorolite (sp) unfortunately he had that and promptly threw it back up again.

Amberc · 16/02/2009 20:09

Oh dear poor lamb. I hope he gets better soon.

BTW I bought the VTech walker and Luke loves it. He tries to walk holding on but the wheels are too fast and he does a few steps but ends up flat on his face! He loves to pull the phone off.

pleasechange · 16/02/2009 20:09

Hi all

amber sympathies on Luke's diarrhoea. A had it for 2 weeks and only got over it a few days ago. I found it such hard work as had to change nappies every half hour or so. Don't know what it was in the end, as his tests for bacteria/viruses were all negative. He's fine now though

bdq thanks for pressie ideas!

Amberc · 16/02/2009 20:12

Five...

What are the symptoms of illness caused by noroviruses?
The symptoms of norovirus illness usually include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and some stomach cramping. Sometimes people additionally have a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and a general sense of tiredness. The illness often begins suddenly, and the infected person may feel very sick. In most people the illness is self-limiting with symptoms lasting for about 1 or 2 days. In general, children experience more vomiting than adults.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/02/2009 20:21

It came on very suddenly on Saturday morning, violent v&d both of which he still has, he basically sleeps most of the day, is very quiet, and has a slight temp. Don't think there is alot they can do just keep an eye on fluid levels.

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2009 20:31

sponge have posted potential solution to your nappy problem on the other thread.

Amberc · 16/02/2009 20:33

That's what it says - comes on really suddenly. You need to keep your hands scrupulously clean (passed on through vomit and faeces) otherwise you'll get it - it's terribly contageous. Also cleaning the baby's soiled clothes in a hot wash and use disposables if you aren't already.

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 20:42

ambersorry to hear about your sickbug -does sound like norovirus (had it a few years ago - did only last a couple of days but was VERY miserable).

and the vtech walker... does it not drive you nuts ? "puppy says"..relegated ours to france but edie was VERY interested in it over the weekend.

bdq good tips on the presents

Amberc · 16/02/2009 20:55

I haven't had the walker long enough to drive me nuts - time will tell!

poppy34 · 16/02/2009 20:57

hello puppy calling ..baby do you want to play -but sorry you're feeling poorly.

not having much luck on here with my request re going to the states/info...

spongebrainbigpants · 16/02/2009 20:59

Hi guys, um, bit shell shocked here. Sorry haven't read back. Nearly name changed but thought sod it, I would tell you anyway . .

I'm pregnant!

And no, it wasn't IVF!

And yes, it is a bloody miracle - seem to be making a habit of those!

Still very early days and, given my history seems daft to be celebrating - but sod it, why not? It's not going to make me any less devastated if something goes wrong that I've kept it a secret is it?!
