I'm done with work for tonight

Bumper, sorry it's all so shitey atm. I've had the thing where she thinks it's funny when I say no. We do the disapproving thing when she's being naughty and have used the naughty step a few times when she was deliberately ignoring us. Whether it (hitting teh TV screen) was a phase that passed, or whether the naughty step worked, but she stopped doing it.

But I had our first proper tantrum this afternoon - in the library . She didn't want to put her coat on and come home. Didn't help that she was tired and hungry. I was trying to put her coat on and she just threw herself on the floor and thrashed about a bit and screamed. Thankfully we were the only ones in the children's section at the time. I left her to it for a minute or so until she had calmed down enough to get her coat on her (though she kept complaining and wriggling through it all) and then we sat in the middle of the floor having a cuddle until she was calm enough to face going to check her books out.

Ria, they are squidgy so wouldn't support weight. they have handles that are on the edge, so would be wobbly if he tried to climb on one. DD is pissed though as she spent yesterday using them as boats so stood and screamed "bucket" at me for half an hour before teatime. Hopefully she'll have forgotten about boats by tomorrow.

lol bumper, it is that sort of face isn't it?

I used to leave stuff out when it was just me, but DH nearly breaks his neck with his big feet so have to tidy again.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/02/2009 21:40

They are cute Sputnik. I still think that.

I do clear all the toys and books up at the end of the day, but put up with toy clutter through the day.

Oh, and I survived my first proper trip to the gym today. And Jamlet (just) survived 45 mins in the creche

LackaDAISYcal · 11/02/2009 21:42

like these

Sputnik · 11/02/2009 21:51

You could go sledging in those.
Right, off to bed.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 11/02/2009 21:52

does anyone know how to make risotto?

LackaDAISYcal · 11/02/2009 21:55

risotto recipes etc here

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/02/2009 21:57

Risotto - depends on what sort you want. For a fairly basic one with onions and bacon I would fry finely diced onions and bacon for about 5 mins, then add risotto rice, keep stirring for a few mins until you hear the rice crackling, then start adding liquid (stock) a bit at a time, stirring pretty much all the time, adding a bit more stock when the first lot is absorbed. I can't remember quantities now, but a pack of risotto rice should tell you rice & stock quantities at least. I love risotto and wish I had a big sticky bowl of it right now!

keepingitRia · 11/02/2009 22:10

i use the recipe on the packet and chuck stuff in natty. tis not always nice but it's filling

ooh, I like the shallow one daisy. I was thinking of those pop-up laundry baskets, but that would do nicely. Will have to find somewhere that sells them. The playpen is full to the brim atm, I put all the other toys in there when I brought the kitchen down and haven't got round to sorting them yet

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 11/02/2009 22:23

just cos all the recipes i can find call for wine, and i dont have that in my house atm, cos i desperatly want a glass all the time.
any ideas?

keepingitRia · 11/02/2009 22:24

just use stock instead natty. wine is always optional, just think of it as more liquid!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 11/02/2009 22:46

ok
cheap meal lol!
im doing my tesco shop just discovered they sell packs of fish for fish pie, cubed haddock, salmon and cod all mixed up in a packet. only 3 quid.. thats a cheap meal!

sorry i got food on the brain

keepingitRia · 11/02/2009 23:18

I didn't know that natty (not that I like fish pie)

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 10:02

oh bugger. I emailed the local paper last night with a letter to the editor thanking the shop staff for looking after ds2 on saturday. they have emailed back and want to do a feature. I don't want to be in the paper.

DH is an arse this morning he had to start work early to go shopping for stuff that hadn't been ordered.

I need to do "stuff" as friends coming over tomorrow evening.

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 10:11

bloody hell daisy, you're feeling braver than me this morning

foxy, sorry not ignoring you - all clear at Docs (apart from my oveactive imagination)

I am leaving now til after lunch, honest!

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 10:53

daisy - I am defending you in spirit (yes I am still here but I have been away and come back)

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 12:46

everyone has gone and left me (I have tidied some toys) Those bucket thingys were £10 in the shop I looked in this morning, so I bought 2 £1 pop-up laundry bags for now. There is nearly room for baggins in the playpen.

It is snowing. Wonder if I should be listening to the radio. Though I suppose they just send the kids home on the buses anyway from DS1s school and I'm in, so not a problem,

doggus · 12/02/2009 12:55

Night from hell last night with ds - he has a cold and was in our bed, spent the night grumbling and whining. When I put on my very stern voice and told him to be quiet he hit me, twice. Then he wanted to be forgiven so whined 'mama, mama, mama' until I cuddled him. He of course is now having a lovely nap while I struggle with work.

doggus · 12/02/2009 12:56

Ria - pmsl at your not very nice but filling risotto!

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 13:05

for your night and DS doggus

In my defence I am (sort of) tidying the living room and sorting out toys, so I can have the PC on in the corner....

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 13:05

Ria, your post on that thread was very well thought out!! You are wasted on just the PN section

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 13:07

poor DS doggus; I hope you get a better night tonight.

We are off out...in the snow, yuk...to something like tumbletots. It isn't tumbletots, but I can't remember what it's called!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/02/2009 13:09

I'm here. have been out to the park this morning, and just been doing some pilates (shines halo a little). Has helped ease my stiffness after the gym yesterday (shines halo a bit more )

I agree with Ria, Natty, I wouldn't worry about wine in risotto if you don't have any. It is nice, but I rarely use it and it's fine.

Daisy, i am also with you on the Disabled Loos thing (but too cowardy custard to post ). Having read (most of) that thread now, I will give it more thought if I am thinking of using one, but I can't say i am NEVER going to use them again. And I think in your situation, it is VERY reasonable. Never mind any pelvic issues, as you said you have 2 LOs and only 1 pair of hands - not just "a bit inconvenient" for you to use a "normal" loo.

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 13:17

thanks daisy (took long enough to think it through). I wouldn't have posted again but I decided to "defend" you properly. I wish I could step away now though, but I'm like a moth to a flame (or a fly to poo). I nearly posted on a BF/FF thread yesterday but stopped myself in time. I thought your last post was a good comeback, but of course no-one will be right, ever.

it is snowing heavily now. I can't find my mobile to text DH and tell him he really should come home in case he gets snown in! (it's not likely, but any excuse to buy him a bit of time off. I am a bad person)

so, (hope this isn't contraversial) what's everyone doing for valentines???

pah at your superior fitness jammy

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/02/2009 13:26

Hello peeps

Poor Doggus' DS. Hope he feels better soon, an you get some rest/work done.

I took my DS to docs this morning as he has had a rash for a couple of days (altough seems fine in himself apart from one episode of runny poo) and she thinks he has Rubella . He has had his first MMR but that doesn't give them 100% immunity. It could be a viral rash and no way of telling if it is def rubella without bloo tests, so I'll have to just treat it as if it is, I suppose.
