OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ohforfoxsake · 12/02/2009 13:33

oh shit Fairy.

LO has only had her first jab too.

How is he? Is it making him ill and miserable or is he generally OK?

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 13:33

fairyfay, hope he isn't too poorly with it.

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/02/2009 13:36

He is a little bit miserable and has been for a few days, but nothing much out of the ordinary. It can cause achey limbs apparently so I've given him Calpol (aka 'cure-all' in this house) and it seems to have perked him up. It's not definitely rubella but she says the rash looks like it could well be. There's certainly no point in him having teh blood test though. If we were still in our old house then he'd be due his 2nd MMR now, but they don't give it until 3 1/2 here.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/02/2009 13:54

for DS, Fairy. Normally these things aren't so bad when they're little, so fingers crossed.

Valentines? Well DH said the other night "I presume we're not doing anything?" and I happened to be looking at the Waitrose website, patisserie aisle, and saw a 59p gingerbread man with a heart on his tummy. So I said I wouldn't mind one of those as a treat, and got told not to be ridiculous! Bah!

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/02/2009 14:17

No valentines here either, although to be fair it's me who doesn't believe i / like it, rather than Dh. We haven't ever done anything apart from the first one after we got together

doggus · 12/02/2009 14:42

FairyFay - could it be roseola? That's what ds had and looked like German measles.

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 14:45

DS1 on his way home from school! And DH is going back to work early, but I suppose he should be home early cos there won't be many customers in this weather.

No valentines plans here either. DH will be busy cooking other peoples romantic meals. Suppose I might get a takeaway out of him if he finishes on schedule

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 16:06

DS2s school decided parents could collect kids at 1.30pm we found this out when we collected him at 3pm (early). Those with school-age DCs - how do you find out if your school is closing?
Is it snowing anywhere else?

LittleMissNorty · 12/02/2009 16:13

Fairy....hope DS is ok. I thought second MMR was at pre-school age...is that not the case then? Hope your DS is ok as well Doggus....

Ria, our local radio gives out school news.....especially BBC one.

Have given in.....I hate rugby....so have bought a flat screen TV to go on the wall in dining room so DH (and probably DS in years to come) and DD and I can watch something half decent in other room without going upstairs all the time.

MIL gone ....didn't lift a finger the whole time she was here and DH and I run around like blue-arsed flies . The first time she took any notice of DD was an hour before she left when she sat her on her lap and read her a book ....its such a shame.

LittleMissNorty · 12/02/2009 16:14

missed out half a sentence then.....baby brain!

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 16:50

my MIL is a bit like that sometimes norty./.

our local commercial & BBC stations do school news, and we do listen in the morning if it's bad, but I couldn't stand the noise all bloody day just in case (amyway, I don't have to spend all day idling away time listening to the radio, I'm far too busy and important idling away time arguing about things that don't really matter anyway with a load of people I've never met) Am thinking there must be a better way - what about parents who can't listen to the radio cos they have proper important jobs where there is no radio access? At least this time our DS wasn;t the last child there

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 18:02

evening all.

It was mini movers; that's where we went. DD was a bit overwhelmed to begin with but soon got into the spirit of things and she loved the big yellow parachute silk and running underneath it. Bumble thought that was brilliant as well. He enjoyed himself more than DD I think.

Poor DS fairy . I hope he isn't feeling too poorly the wee lamb. It's not scarletina is it?

sorry your MIL isn't more hands on with the DCs Norty, she is missing out on a lot. She might have helped out a bit though!. My MIL is the other way entirely with the DCs and you can't change a nappy without her head in the way.

I just went to M&S and bought the Valentine dine in offer.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/02/2009 18:03

Oh dear, hope the your babies are ok fairy and doggus. Mine is poorly too. He coughed so much last night he was sick all over me and the bed. He just has a constant cold and is just streaming snot all the time. We go through about 10 muslins a day with all the nose wiping. I don't think anything is wrong, but he is just always ill. I have been waiting for a gap in the snot to go and get his MMR done, but it is never ending!

I always use disabled toilets and I'm not ashamed to say it. Obv if I'm on my own I don't, or if I have someone with me to watch the pushchair, but if I have a pushchair with me I do. What the fuck are you supposed to do if you have a toddler and a baby in a pushchair? Most toilets don't even have the room to get a pushchair in the doorway and there is no way I'd leave ds outside. It takes me 30 secs to pee, I'm sure that wouldn't inconvenience a disabled person too much. I'd rather use the disabled loos and be a few seconds than try and force the door of the ladies open with the pushchair, run over a few people trying to get out and have to piss with the door open so I can see my dcs! That would take 10 times as long and inconvenience a great many more people! There I've said it! I'm not going to post on the thread though, I'm not THAT brave !

I didn't go to Ikea in the end, but I should have done. It wasn't that busy at all and there was all sorts of activities for the kids. Dp is going to take us when he gets home from work tomorrow. I want a wooden trunk and it is half price until the 15th, so I have to go tomorrow really!! Also I really fancy a butterbean casserole!

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 18:25

sod it. baggins just coughed and spat cottage pie all over me (he is eating in the living room as he is determined to fall out of his high chair)

and fuck it, DH has just rung to tell me that the village is apparently inaccessible (he works on the main road about 5 minutes drive away) and no-one who is working tonight has the authority to say they are closing and send all the staff home. if he hadn't gone in early he wouldn't have been able to get there and now he is probably stuck. tossers.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 18:34

The snow was amazing here when I was waiting for school to chuck out. The flakes were tiny, but they were all perfect little star shapes.....just as all the pics and drawings of snowflakes are. I don't think I've ever seen individual flakes like that before. DD was singing "twinkle star" at them.....and then eating them

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 18:35

I hope that DH gets home OK Ria; is there no-one he can call to get the all clear?

Bumperslucious · 12/02/2009 18:51

Evening all, a bit better here today. My period came today so that explains a lot of yesterday's ranting. Had a shitty night of horrid work dreams and being awake not being able to breathe. DH is feeling better and has tidied the whole flat though and made dinner and washed up, so kudos to him. I have cracked open the wine and am going to chill. Even though I feel like shit I feel so much better now my PMT has eased and DH is looking after me.

Did not even touch the disable loo thread, I lose so much time to these sorts of threads and they are so predictable!

Hope DS is ok fairy. DD was really rashy week before last and the dr said it was just viral. I had suspected Rubella as a child and my mum said it is difficult to diagnose.

Natty, I rarely use wine in risotto, but for the record, prosecco or other sparkly wine also works really well!

Sorry for your bad nights Doggus and Holly.

Hello everyone else, including lurkers, Ekka, Fury, I mean you!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 18:51

apparently not daisy. maybe it will have cleared by 9pm/after.

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 18:52

sorry daisy, not with you

Bumperslucious · 12/02/2009 18:59

Ria, that's shit!

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 19:10

I guessed that Ria!

arse for your period bumper; I'm dreading mine starting again.

I don't know why I got involved tbh. I can't see why it's a problem, especially in a shared loo but there you go; I am selfish and uncaring apparently

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/02/2009 19:26

It was a very predictable thread, a bit like the parent and child parking and weaning at 4 months ones! I care enough to not want my child to get stolen from the pushchair whilst I have a wee or indeed get my very expensive pushchair stolen if I take him in with me...and that is that!

Hope your dh gets home ok ria.

I hate periods, they are the work of the devil! Hope it isn't too hellish bumper!

I sometimes use white wine vinegar in my risottos if I don't have wine. I do think a nice risotto needs just a splash of wine, it's not really the same without it. I love chopped and roasted butternut squash in mine with some blue cheese crumbled in at the end...

Ohforfoxsake · 12/02/2009 19:46

blue cheese and crispy bacon crumbled over the top. Makes anything taste good.

I'm with Holly in the loos.

Get a coil, no periods

The class rep emails or texts, but with 3 in school its quite hard to miss us out!

I bought the Waitrose meal today, steak, chips, Gu chocolate pudding for a tenner. Shame DP is going to be home too late for it and is away tomorrow, and back too late on Saturday. Was meant to be a special meal for tonight after his shitty day, but hey ho. Recycled some left over lasagne for me and pie and mash for him.

Have I covered everything?

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 20:12

mm waitrose meal sounds nice, as does the M&S one ,but the chances of me getting to town before Saturday are nil. I wanted to get DH a CD, either opera or classical, to piss his boss off cos they're not allowed the radio on in the kitchen in case the customers hear it, and he loves classical music, but is sidelined by my Joni Mitchell and Led Zepp suppose I could look at a download - hadn't thought of that til now

the argument that got me today was this idea that it's always going to be a mum and buggy making an "entitled" person wait and suffer, rather than someone equally "entitled", and then of course they were mean to daisy..., but I was too scared to get proper cross!

I didn't know you didn't get periods with the coil. How effective are they and how often do you have them changed? (my extreme reactions to my implant are grim)

Glad you are geting looked after bumper.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/02/2009 20:20

Isn't it getting a bit crowded in there foxy?

What sort of shoite day has DH had? or did I miss an earlier post?

Gu puddings......

We're having the scallop and chorizo thing from the ad, rack of lamb with basil and pine nuts, mediterranean raost veg with a balsamic dressing and mashed potatoes followed by chocolate souffles. Is it Saturday yet?
