VG - could it be because they are growning again? DD guzzles both sides now at every waking!!! I was fine on 4 hourly or even 3 hourly but some nights it's every 45 mins and solids lastnight made no difference to her hunger. HV said it is because she is so nosey she would rather watch things than miss out by feeding. I am trying to make sure we get at least 3 big feeds in during the day but that means - no reading, MN, TV, cats, open curtains - quiet, dark dull room. I have no idea how you have survived with it so long - in my books that make you a very stong person.

oopsacoconut · 05/02/2009 14:37

growning???? growing of course

Sibh · 05/02/2009 14:37

PF - I haven't tried BF with my knees Not surprised they're hopeless tbh.

Sibh · 05/02/2009 14:46

Sympathy to all on sleeplessness. We are having terrible nights here too. (Hurrah for Ann though - great to know you got a good night's sleep.

Normally here DD goes straight back down after a feed, but she's waking twice before 4, and then she's staying awake unhappily with wind or teeth for another hour then. I've woken DH the last two nights just to get him to take her for a few minutes. Not something I normally do because sleep deprivation is not his thing (he gets up early with the others instead) ...

Poppy I hope DD2 is fine today. We had a moment like that a few weeks ago when DS was talking to me and forgot that DD2 was behind him. She was fine but furious, reasonably enough. It is frightening.

PF- sorry to be cheeky about the knees. The purple top is tres chic.

Oops - the pics are lovely. DD is a dote, and in the pics of her in her brown outfit,a dead ringer for DD2.

Sibh · 05/02/2009 14:57

The lack of sleep is making me feel a bit hysterical ... And now the kettle has broken.

sibh vg oops and miamla {{HUGS}}

just up from lovely 2 hour nap as per schedule, feeling refreshed, popped ds in the moby as he's been grumpy today and chewing everything. He had nelsons teetha granules before the nap which I think helped, thanks dizzy buckets I think you may be on to something re ds may be cold. He is in a 2.5 tog growbag on a cotton sheet in his hammock plus folded over cotton cellular blanket on top tucked in at the bottom. He wears a long sleeve vest, footless sleepsuit + nappy. His hammock is about 2 feet from an outside wall and we have the radiator off at night so it does get coldish in the bedroom. For daytime naps I add a fleece to the bottom of the hammock - could retain this for night? His body did not feel all that toasty last night when I undressed him and when he woke at 1am and I brought him into bed, he fell immediately asleep.

I do not normally change his nappy after 7pm it just leaked last night. I do use the GF 'dont look at baby/talk to him' thing after bedtime. dp talks and plays

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 15:09

aww sibh nightmare - just boil water on the stove like when a student!

I've run out of milk! have to open herbal tea

Miamla · 05/02/2009 15:18

missed my opportunity for a nap, hey ho

sambo, plenty of milk here if you fancy popping round (although realise completely that there are hundreds of milk shops inbetween our houses!)

hmm, i reckon my DS might be getting cold too... fleece blanket it is tonight. but actually, his hourly wake ups last night were when he was in bed with me. back to the drawing board..

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 05/02/2009 15:26

Hi everyone. Sorry about the lack of sleep and teething babies all round.

Ds having a nap, dd not
So just expressed to give ds later as he refused a feed twice today.

sazzles was it you that said Emma didn't feed properly last night??
Ds was the same. Refused his normal feed at bed time, just seemed tired, so settled down at 6.30. (expected him to wake after half hour)but slept till 11 ish.
oops ds is also feedin both sides and then back to first side at most feeds. esp night ones.(lovely pics btw)
Must be another growth spurt or making up for missing in the day more likely

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 05/02/2009 15:27

I can not find classifieds anywhere.

ds awake...

ataraxis · 05/02/2009 15:33

sambo, have you got a sheepskin? Neither of my other two liked it, but dd veritably sighs with happiness (most of the time) when I put her down on it in the cot.
She was waking too cold a few nights ago. I have had her in two long sleeved layers, a 2.5 tog grobag and a baby quilt on top. Seems to have made a difference.

On ds awake and playful, have you tried just leaving him to it or does he get upset?

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 15:54

ataraxis I did leave him as seemed quite happy but dp got up from spare room (cross) and said he was getting the dummy. ds was not crying, more shouting and chortling. Quiet ensued for 20 mins, dp back in spare room and me hopping out of bed every minute to replace dummy. Then I brought ds into bed with me as seemed easier to replace then tried to feed him as he showed no signs of tiring, he fed < 5 mins and fell asleep

I think I will try the fleece tonight as the hammock mattress is thin foam and maybe draft coming up from below?

the main problem is not ds it is dp !!! If dp did not wake up everytime ds breathed loudly we would be fine. I spend all my time trying to keep ds quiet for dp's sake rather than responding to ds as I think appropriate eg last night ds finally asleep at 4am and dp gets up and storms downstairs to switch heating off cos it's too noisy!! hence my suggestion of going to my parents

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 16:06

and the reason dp gives for why i should not go to my parents is that i should not have to - ie we should not have a baby that wakes every hour or so

his sister (aged 57) has been saying to him is that baby not sleeping through yet and is he on a bottle yet etc

cyteen · 05/02/2009 16:12

tbh sambo i would just go - tell DP you want him to get a couple of good nights, you want a couple of nights with lots of extra help, so you are going to see your folks and that way you and he will both be better able to work out a plan together.

longwayfromhome · 05/02/2009 17:28

Hello all, sorry about the sleeplessness. DS waking 3-4 times/night at the moment, but morning seems to have reverted to 6.30-7 rather than 5 so some progress here.

Anyway, I was just popping on to share my hint for people with babies who won't be put down. I have one of those rucksack things for DS and it is great so far. I can carry him around but still have both hands free to sort out washing, do some cooking etc (much easier than a sling because DS is so big and wriggley that I can't really do these things if he is strapped to my front. He grumbles after about 30 minutes, but still an improvement ...

Lots of thoughts to everyone. Rain here today.

AnnVan · 05/02/2009 17:43

Does everyone like my new haircut?? can as there isn't enough left
DP's going to get a shock when he gets home.

oopsacoconut · 05/02/2009 17:47

Fab new hair Ann

Dizzy have you seen what PreggiewithNo3 called her little one?? I will leave you to find out.

Longway DD still loves her Karime and is okay if she is facing me but anything within her reach when she is facing out is in danger. We have a backpack for her but haven't tried it yet.

AnnVan · 05/02/2009 17:47

Oops - CAN'T swish.

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 19:23

dp just got txt from his sister...is that baby on the bottle yet

nice hair ann

AnnVan · 05/02/2009 19:31

Sambo
Some people! I hope your DP isn't bowing to her stupid ignorant pressure? Is none of her bloody business anyway!

AnnVan · 05/02/2009 19:32

Um - sorry hope I haven't offended there Sambo. No offense to anyone who bottle feeds either. Just annoys me when people act like that.
Oh and 'that baby'??

sibh Tis ok I forgive you I knew it would sound like that when I re read it but I just couldn't be blimmin' bothered to change it! I wish I could bf with my knees, might give my poor norks a rest!
Atm I have a small but very itchy rash on the left one. It is driving me mad (am trying Liz Earle superbalm to get rid of it) I suspect it is probably due to wearing a bra day and night...

Whoever is asking about sheepskins - I swear by them. All my three have always slept on one as babies. It definitely makes a difference. Whilst Toby is getting up three times a night atm, he always goes back to sleep straight away.

Had a good day in the snow today but am completely knackered now........

annvan Is there a pic of you with new hair??

PetitFilou1 · 05/02/2009 19:42

Pf gives Sambo's SIL a virtual and well aimed kick

PetitFilou1 · 05/02/2009 19:44

Waves to LWFH - be careful of your back with those rucksack things - I well and truly did for mine with one of those! I used to take dd in it on the tube with ds1 in the pushchair - people did look at me as if I was mad (I thought it was admiration at the time...)
