off to bed now ladies so good night

ps vg I think it's those marmite flavoured rice cakes by Kallo?? (I ate my own body weight of these whilst pg for morning sickness)

TwilightSurfer · 05/02/2009 02:50

just let me say, YOU LADIES ARE THE GREATEST! what a CrAzY trip. i'm glad i went but thankful to be home. no MN contact since i left my laptop at home. my blackberry allows me to read but not post.

sazzles dd2 has a new rashy thing going on. what is it with these girls!?! guess we will be trading tips in a MONTH.

miamla i've kinda been in your spot regarding the elder friendship. a confident dp will see it for what it is...which is not a means by which to rekindle flamage. some of my dearest friends were biproducts of past relationships. i'll purge my closet but i refuse to purge my friends.

i really want to comment more but i'm fading fast. thrusting myself into a blizzard for family matters takes a toll. i'll be a better thread friend tomorrow. promise.

here's a new plant for the thread. my aunt made me bring one to many home from the service.

Morning all. Coffee and hot porridge on the table for you.

sazz, watching the news, hope that it isn't too bad with you, but if the pics are anything to go by it doesn't look like your oil will be coming today . Just heard that the road gritters are running out of rock salt . Rubbish.

poppy, ds2 did the same to dd when she was around 4 weeks old, popped out of the room and found him with full weight sitting on her . I rang a friend of mine who is a gp and a pediatrician, who basically said keep an eye but any damage was unlikely.

ts good to have you back, I hope all is well with you and yours.

pf (belatedly), I think the top would look lovely on you.

Right, off to start the school run debacle (assuming they are actually going...)

CaptainCaveman · 05/02/2009 07:43

We are snowed in! For the first time EVER....

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 08:08

wow cc GREAT!! no more snow here last night and what there is seems to be melting a bit. I kinda hoped we'd be snowed in for another couple of days

thanks for brekkie ataraxis ts love the plant

ladies, I have to confess to losing heart a bit after last night. Please tell me that my baby will one day soon sleep for longer that half an hour . We even had a shouting awake wanting to play baby between 2 and 4am, hope this is not going to be a regular thing . Co slept most of last night cos whenever ds went into his bed he soon started up - I do not really sleep in case I squash him, dp has had less than 3 hours sleep and is trying to catch a few zzzs before going into work late. I suggested to him I go stay with my parents for a week or so - he can come down after work to play with Felix then come home to sleep (in our delicious comfy super king extravaganza bed) and that way I can just rest and not do any much cleaning/cooking/laundry. He said no
I feel we are struggling uselessly and wearing ourselves out ...alternatively we could give ds formula and baby rice etc - but I dont want to do that, am I being completely selfish and wrongheaded in saying no to this???

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 08:09

dizzy spotted you over on the THUM thread, I am AGOG re the update, hope she appears (but rofled at the thread even if she doesnt)

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 08:16

Good grief, just check out the dadsnet section of mn, it felt wrong, like snooping in someone's diary/phone (err, havent done this honest) and whaddayaknow? men really do think about sex every second? It was all completely boring over there btw, women are much the wittier of the species

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 08:17

or maybe the witty men dont post on mn (which is basically for women fgs!)

sambo303 · 05/02/2009 08:20

although last night was a shocker for sleep, ds was sooo cute. at one point he fell asleep post feed hugging my boob I kissed him full on the lips, was lovely!!

Buckets · 05/02/2009 09:19

Morning Sambo! Just popping on before my teagroup arrives. Sorry you had such a bad night, I can imagine the dilemma you're feeling.
Some ideas and basic questions if you want us to do a forensic report on your routine: Have you tried laying a synthetic blanket (eg fleece) on the cot for Felix to sleep on (I assume he's in a grobag so you can be confident about not overheating him?) I find cotton is cooler and Kurt will resettle better on a warmer base.
Are you doing the Gina Ford thing of keeping lights low and not making eye contact after bedtime? Hate GF but that does work for me. How often are you changing his nappy in the night and are lights kept low?

CaptainCaveman · 05/02/2009 09:37

{{{sambo}}} praying Felix soon sleeps for longer periods. Ditto what buckets said too. O has just gone through a period of a week where he was waking up 2 to 3 times to feed, but last night only woke up at 1.30 and then 7.15, so I know he can do it

I was on a course yesterday (and I'm supposed to be there now but am snowed in ), so O had his first FULL day at nursery. He drank NO milk and didn't eat a great deal - mind you I think he was a bit under the weather. Need to decide whether to continue bf or just switch now to the bottle. Ds1 was just like this, and he ended up waking 4 times a night to get all his milk feeds in, then drinking nothing during the day. Stopped bf at 10.5 months for this reason.

AnnVan · 05/02/2009 09:53

Morning all!
sambo sorry to hear of your rough night. I can't give any advice though, seeing as our nights aren't much better.
Last night was ok here. Little man down about midnight, woke 5.45, put dummy in and he was fine. went to get him out of bed about 9.30 and he was lying there awake and smiled and laughed when I started talking to him. Itwas lovely.
I went trampolining last night again. Thought I wasn't going to be able to as dp hadto work late, MIL is ill so can't babysit and BIL didn't want to. Thankfully the coach said it was ok to bring seb along, so he was most interested in all the bouncing people

cyteen · 05/02/2009 10:46

hello everyone

pf that blouse is very gorgeous, buy it and make your DH kick himself for ever being moody with you

sambo what a night(mare). I totally get the feeling disheartened thing, it is so a mess of anger and guilt and plain exhaustion when their sleep goes tits up. No real advice about formula and weaning as there seems a fairly equal split in the anecdotal evidence between people saying it helps or saying it doesn't. You and your DP will just have to try and find some time to discuss it and come up with a plan together...maybe at the weekend? Is there someone who could take Felix for a few hours while you two get a nice lunch or something?

CC any news on the house? We've got tons more snow too, glad I went out yesterday as am fully staying indoors today. DS and I are both still in pyjamas. Spare a thought for my poor DP though, off to his interviews in London today and gloveless to boot [everything crossed emoticon]

poppy glad to hear the smallest socks seems okay - how frightening. How is DD1 today, did it make an impression on her do you think? Oh, and sorry if I upset you with my judginess before. My foot does like to live in my mouth.

Sazz hope you all made it through the night! That is really poor of the oil company, you should definitely shame them with a Stiff Letter.

Hi TS, glad you got through it all okay. Hopefully the miniSurfers were good girls and slept in for you

oops very exciting on the food front. Since Joe is only two days behind your DD I have decided to commence very gradual foodage as well - yesterday I had him on my lap while I was eating a ripe banana and he started bringing it to his mouth. At first he was just chewing his banana-smeared thumb but by the end he was chomping the nana for real and looked like he was really enjoying it - he got most annoyed when I took it away

Going to try him with some EBM in a cup as well today, since he still clearly resents being bottle-fed. What cup did you use? I've got a spouty one that I was going to take the lid off, that will do won't it?

PetitFilou1 · 05/02/2009 10:59

Right since you all like it I will get the top but will have to hope it fits as buying over the net... My mum is going to bring some trousers for me to try (they are designer and she says VERY wide but will give it a go)

Five or six inches of snow here. ds1 very annoyed that the school is still open!

Very grumbly baby here - can see the white tip of a tooth but still in the gum - who will be first I wonder (no-one has a tooth yet do they?)

sazzles hope you get your heating back on soon. You can always come over here!

oopsacoconut · 05/02/2009 11:01

Morning all

I just realised my profile wasn't visable . now you should be able to see DD's piccies.

loads of snow here. Blardy builders keep leaving doors open too!! The barn comments keep being ignored. DD sleeping on me as they are thumping about in the loft making enough noise ti wake the dead!

Cyteen - We are using a tommee tippee 3+month cups it has a funny little pin thing in it ti stop milk flowing and if thew chew it milk comes out. I push the pin in a bit and now dd gets milk when she sucks. She also likes to sip it without the lid but it does make a huge mess [GRIN].

Sambo - DD had a bad night too awake hungry at 10, 1, 3, 5 and I brought her into us at 6.

Ann - am pleased you got out to do something for you - it makes a big difference to how you feel. Also how great they said Seb could go too.

cyteen · 05/02/2009 11:08

She is adorable oops

pf think we're at the same stage as you re. teeth - I can see (and definitely feel!) the white edge of a top tooth but it's not emerged yet. Can't get a look at the bottom gum as every time I try Joe's tongue splurges out like some weird sea creature

oops, gorgeous!

pf, let us see a pic when you are there totally stunning in it!

sazz, we have not enough to do that, I want to go too

sambo, sorry the night was so rough. Why is your dp against you going to parents? That's what they are for! Doesn't make either of you failures. As has been discussed many times before, in previous times we would all have had extended family around to provide mucho support and no-one would have felt bad about it. Sounds like a v sensible idea.

Tops arrived!

Brown one would be lovely (shape and concept is great) but is made of a material that clings to everything. I reckon it would be completely unflattering even on a size 8 toned person - which I am not!

The jumper is 10% angora (missed that bit). Tis lovely, but I cannot have the shedding that goes with it so unless I can stop that back it goes too .

Anyone know how you can prevent the shedding? I tried the housekeeping topic on here but no help.

pertelote · 05/02/2009 13:42

Sorry Ataraxis no idea... what a shame

Sazzles Marianne does that too! So cute. She has recently discovered how to make an extremely fart-like noise... not very ladylike

Sympathy to those still/now snowed in. The snow here is nearly all gone as it's been raining instead... so I am just about to try to leave the house for the first time in three days! Tell a lie, yesterday I got to the end of our road before deciding it was much too icy. DD looked really disappointed when we turned round and came home again so I think she's more stir-crazy than I am!

PetitFilou1 · 05/02/2009 13:44

ataraxis I love angora but it is a pain if it gets in babies mouths when bf! I'd keep it though tbh if you like it

I will think about a picture for you all depends what I look like - I've also ordered a tunic in purple to see what that looks like. The thing is I'm not sure how you wear this tunic when you are almost 37 - the website styles it without trousers underneath - think that I am a bit long in the tooth for that Any ideas dizzy ?? or anyone else My legs are good from the knees down! Hopeless for bf but hey ho like ataraxis says I just want to wear something normal

Took a picture of Toby in the snowy garden this pm - I will try and get it on fb at some point with some other pictures.....

oops lovely photos

PetitFilou1 · 05/02/2009 13:46

vg It is not shiny it is 'dewy and youthful'

alittlebitshy · 05/02/2009 13:51

whoah - lots of chat.

glad minipoppy wasis ok. Even my 5.5 yr old dd can be rough at times with ds and she is usuully so gentle and caring towards him.....
