Sazzles nice book but it has formulae in it and that is too much to cope with.

happy birthday btw to buckets major

sambo303 · 03/02/2009 20:55

good god, who knew there was so much to say about swimming!

sambo303 · 03/02/2009 21:01

ahhh, thanks again to wikipedia - total immersion swimming explained:

The aim is to become more self-aware and to feel ?one with the water.? Lap counts and pace times are considered less important than improving one's economy, grace, attention and awareness.

this is exactly how I swim!! Feel inspired to swim this Thursday... please go away snow!!

cyteen · 03/02/2009 21:03

I must be the only person who looks better and feels better about their body post-pregnancy...I was in bad shape before I got up the duff, too much drinking and sluggishness. Now I hardly drink and spend all day carting a large wriggly human around It's proved quite good for the muscles.

Am more fed up about my hair though, it looks like it fell off a scarecrow

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 21:04

Sambo - that's exactly how I read it too.

I googled TI - looks interesting but I have my half-man/half-fish DH that I keep pestering to teach me the crawl, he really is elegant in the water. I can only do breaststroke, and slowly at that. Though all the diving in the last few years has made me much more relaxed in the water.

As for body image. I've been finding it hard to get used to how my body has changed. It doesn't help that I don't have winter clothes that fit so what I am wearing isn't really what makes me feel good. Fortunately I sew and have just finished a pair of trousers which I love. So that helps. I may well check out the Hotmammas thread, but I hate exercise for the sake of exercise. Much prefer doing something fun that also happens to be good for you.

ataraxis · 03/02/2009 21:06

Just lost a bastard long post as computer froze

vg email sent, thank you

pf, I think you are absolutely gorgeous. In no way could huge or old looking be used to describe you. I know that body image is a very personal thing, but I really mean that.

On the subject... thinking about buying this and this top. Honest opinions please?

dizzy sounds to me from that email that they have outsourced their responses (without decent training) to somewhere in Asia. Tis the only place I know that would respond using 'sir' like that (and so inappropriately). Why oh why can't people provide decent customer service?

ataraxis · 03/02/2009 21:08

Why are so many clothes smock like at the moment? I don't want to dress like I am pregnant this year!

cyteen · 03/02/2009 21:09

If anyone needs cheering up, please watch this - time lapse of a baby playing with his toys Hard to believe our little puddings will be doing this soon!

Happy birthday Master Buckets, sorry this message is a bit late.

cyteen · 03/02/2009 21:15

Really like both of those tops ataraxis, go for it! I've been looking at the Frank & Faith website, there's some nice stuff in the sale.

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 21:16

atraxis - can't really tell too much about the first. I like the second, I am a big fan of cowl necks. Are you Bfing? Only because the chuncky wool and texture might make your boobs look bigger than they are. This might not worry you at all.

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 21:24

Well that's me for the night. Night all, wishing you all peaceful nights from Chez Steaky.

ataraxis · 03/02/2009 21:24

ach, sod it. I am going to buy both and see what I think of them on. First one is a bit of a leap of faith and not something I would normally buy, but I can always send them back if I don't like them.

steak, I am bf but don't have huge boobs so no issue on that front. I am also a bit bored of 'bf suitable' clothing, so figured I would buy some other stuff, even if I don't wear it very much right now.

ataraxis · 03/02/2009 21:25

Night night steaky, hoping you get a good sleep.

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 21:25

This makes me wish Izzy was tiny again. Really am going now.

ataraxis · 03/02/2009 21:30

Oh my goodness steaky you have made me all teary and nearly wanting another (just for a minute).

Night all from here too. It is snowing heavily again - so maybe another PJ day here tomorrow.

sambo303 · 03/02/2009 21:59

night ladies, going to put my 10pm bedtime rule into action tonight as we have water babies tomorrow and need to teach ds total immersion swimming

poppysocks · 03/02/2009 22:29

Where to start on catching up...

CC - and LOL at your DS1's comment to the viewer. Glad she took it well. Any news re: the house? Fingers crossed for you.

Dizzy - to you all. Hope you're all feeling better tomorrow. at that e-mail. I too am a stickler for grammar etc (although more in theory than practice ).V of the revels. Have just received a new chocolate selection in the shopping. Hmmm. Chunky kit kat or aero...

Happy Birthday to DS1 Buckets. Hope he had a lovely day. Glad you're recovering now from the hangover.

Ann - So sorry to hear that your sleep woes continue. Hope you get to the bottom of what's bothering Seb and turn a corner soon.

Glad DS2's christening was lovely VG. DD2's is starting to feel closer now that all the godparents and grandparents have spent the last two days off work because of the snow planning their visits.

Congrats to your DH pf on the courage for the snip. Can imagine it must feel rather final though, even though it's what you both want. Sorry you're feeling a bit down re: body image. I've been pleasantly surprised by how easily the weight has come off but with the weather recently meaning little or no walking and the total lack of toning I'm still resembling a blob. It's my boobs that are bothering me. They weren't great before bf and I expected a bit of extra sag, but this is crazy.... Main concern though, like you cyteen is my hair. Grey encroaching and the pg thickness hasn't dissipated so it's just a helmet of fuzz . Think it requires something radical.... Any/all thoughts/suggestions welcome!

On the continuation of bf, I think I'm going to start to cut it down when we're back from France in mid-March. Would be one less thing to think about if I still am then(and a whole lot less stuff to cart over there, eating into the lugggage allowance ). However, I am one of those NCT women cyteen and I'm afraid I do want my body back. And so does DH . Amazed that I've managed this long after all the difficulties with DD1, but equally know that, for whatever reason, it's not working brilliantly for DD2 so don't feel too bad to be bowing out after 8 months (as it will be by then).

Miamla · 03/02/2009 22:42

ataraxis, love the first top (jumper) not sure about the second, think it'll probably be better in real life than in the photos

pf I thought you were truly beautiful when i met you. I'm v of your makeup skills. I look like a transvestite if i try wearing makeup! But i echo what someone else said, pop over to HotMamas, they're lovely on there. Encouraging without being too pushy!

poppysocks · 03/02/2009 22:59

Yes miamla, I too look like a transvestite in make-up, but suspect that's as much to do with a total lack of skill in its application. Have just never learned. Haven't even tried for years and even managed not to wear any to my wedding as we ran out of time. My sister was , but my Dad was pacing around to set off for the Church and I just couldn't be bothered . DH didn't seem to notice though .
