steaky I too have a grumpy dh in the mornings, and it is very annoying when they moan about lack of sleep - considering he never has to feed O during the night!

no1 hope all is ok with feeding now?

snow snow snow, we have some snow! rotter I think Nottingham is the same as you, we rarely get more than a flutter of flakes which then disappear wihtin 5 minutes. Sadly for ds his school remains open today , so we will have to save snowman building for later this afternoon. The roads here are clear though so at least we can get out.

How's everyone else doing today? I tried to NOT feed O when he woke at midnight....hmmm, gave up after 45 mins of him screaming down my ear. He then took a good feed so perhaps he was hungry . Going to try getting him to drink formula today, wish me luck!!!!

Mmmm, that sausage casserole is delicious Great for a day like today. We're having veggie shepherd's pie tonight, another ribsticker but nothing too pungent as DP has another interview AND a second interview tomorrow [fingers crossed emoticon] They're both in London though so hope he doesn't get scuppered by travel problems.

What's up with your DD1 Sazz?

pertelote · 02/02/2009 10:18

Morning all. My sympathies, TS, to you and your family.

It is really snowy here. We were meant to go to Gt Ormond St to discuss DD's op - they have phoned twice to make sure we're not going . Sounds like chaos there. Cyteen, if your DP can do his interviews by phone it might be a good idea - there is NO transport in London and it's meant to get worse later on.

We had a worse night again here - I'm starting to think it's to do with the timing of the penultimate feed (which is the formula one) - the later it is, the more energy she has for a good long BF to stoke up at bedtime.

Buckets · 02/02/2009 10:33

Godspeed GrannySurfer .

2" of snow here, pretty rare in these parts. Was bliss just me and DS1 walking down to pre-school extra early with him stopping to lick snow off garden walls!

Feel rough as a dog today, had 3pints of lager and threw up my Chinese takeaway - no sympathy please, all my own fault. Have to remember my alc limitations and that I don't actually like Chinese food much (a week of daily banquets for work in Hong Kong and China many years ago put me off for a long time.) Luckily Kurt slept 10-7, bless that boy.

Steaknife I know that 'you and your children are deliberately making my life a misery' line all too well. Pick a moment when he's in a good mood and bring it up, he might have no idea he does it.

Buckets · 02/02/2009 10:40

Hey Cyteen what would you do if he did get a job in London?

My DB in Australia still hasn't found a job (they moved in Nov), heard that SIL had sent a message asking not to forward post to them in case they are coming back. Feel really sorry for them, but can't deny it would be lovely to have them and their 3 little boys back again. SIL puts up with so much, she must be tearing her hair out.

cyteen · 02/02/2009 10:55

move there of course! that's why he's looking, because we want to go home. well, he also wants to progress his career etc. but mainly we want to be near friends and family.

that's sad news about your DB but hard not to be pleased at the thought of having them back

AnnVan · 02/02/2009 10:57

Morning all. Wel we had snow all yesterday. Still snowing now. DOesn't look as much as it did last night though.
DP at home as all trains in Kent are cancelled

Little man fell asleep at 10 last night. Woke up 12.48. Fed him, put him down, he woke up crying. ROckedhim back to sleep, cried as soon as I put him down. Stood over him holding hid dummy in until he went off. he woke just after nine.

TS sympathies to you for your loss.

Buckets · 02/02/2009 11:05

Yay Ann, that's progress isn't it?

Miamla · 02/02/2009 11:29

morning all
my DP's skiving working from home too!
§
symbol above was a message from DS!

well "DS sleeping in his cot" week started off ok. He was in it til about 3am ish so not too bad but not great. Given the amount of leaking I had this morning, he fed less... baby steps and all that!

right, off to do some knitting as i've already done two loads of clothes washing, cleaned the kitchen and done some tidying

snow watch in NE London... we have a whole foot of snow!!

cyteen · 02/02/2009 11:37

hooray for home'working' DPs!

my DP tells me his interviews are now likely to be on Thursday, quite glad about that.

Miamla · 02/02/2009 11:41

TS I echo what others have.. i hope your Grandma's passing brings you all peace.

Miamla · 02/02/2009 11:42

cyteen....hmmm! i'm wondering what kind of weather conditions i should be wishing for to get a day off myself!

alittlebitshy · 02/02/2009 11:45

Dh and d dgot about 5 mins down the road (well, 2 mins but at snail's pace) and luckily dh heard my ringing him so pulled over and i told him i'd had a group text from shcool saying it was basically shut. so back they came.

we then tooka family trip to the dr. dh pushing ds's pushchair (me praying the wheels didn't snap off), me pulling dd on my old FABBO sledge.

Ds and i both have ear infections

dh asnd d dmaking a snowman in church yard at mo.

Had heating on all night cos I was worried about ds being cold - is now an oven so have turned off temporarily!

Another good night. Ds was asleep at about 7.45. whimpered at 4, I was lying in bed with glasses on ready to go, but he stopped. then from 5am til 6.30 periodic whimpers but I didn't have to get up to him til half 6!! Am wondering if it was being drugged on nurofen for his ear ache (anti biotics now - that'll be fun . Hope not!

alittlebitshy · 02/02/2009 11:52

carpola typing - sorry.

TS so sorry about your grandmother. And also, i too have a (5.5 yr old) girl with mega attitude. she got into trouble at school last week which never used to happen cos she was shy there. ARGH. she and i clash so much too cos we're too similar.

pertelote hope they re-schedule your appt soon.

sambo and no1 waiting to hear how your nights were.

cyteen glad you feel you had a better night.

miamla that is good progress. Well done!

dh and i were meant to be going to the theatre toight (something at the nstional theatre - xmas pressie from mil). a) the weather means we can;t easily go anyhow, b) my mum was babysitting so even if we were mad enough to try to go she can't get here cos of trains her end. oh well. mil trying to re-schedule for us. fingers crossed.

alittlebitshy · 02/02/2009 11:53

can't even spell CRAPola. that's bad lol.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/02/2009 12:14

lol albs at spelling. I have long since stopped worrying about mine. Sorry to here about the ear infections and sorry about the night out being cancelled.

Lots and lots of snow here in South Yorkshire, as a few have said we don't usually get any.

ts so sorry to here about your grandmother, as others have said, I am thinking of you.

miamla I think that is a good start, like you said baby steps and all.

ann sounds like progress, hope its a sign of things to come.

thanks for well wishes and advice last night, I really did't know what to do.
Thankfully buckets reminded me of the Moby, (doh) why I forgot I don't know.
He drifted off eventually, and woke up a little after, with smiles and coos and reaching to touch my face.

I then took him up to bed and bf him to sleep at about 9.30. I thought he would be up all night feeding to make up for lack of, But he had a small bf at 11.30 and slept till hust after 6. so not bad.

Sorry if I sounded like an idiot last night, just I wasn't sure what to do(suppose I wass sad he was self weaning) like oops said I love being able to feed him.

miamla I am very jealous that you can knit. I have no idea how to follow a pattern and if I start with 20 stitches, I somehow end up with more.

cc any knews about the house viewings??
good luck with ff.

sambo hope ff goes ok tonight. IKWYM re wanting to know if it's genuine hunger or habbit.

pertelote It is a shame your app has been cancelled, as I am sure you had prepared yourself for it and had lots of questions/queries/worries. Hope it's not too long for another appointment.Thinking of you.

buckets shame about your db not getting a job, but also nice for you if they come home.iykwim.

steaknife for comment from your dh. Think we cope better with lack of sleep tbh. autopilot and all that.

sazzles hope all is well at the docs.

vg hope you had a lovely day.

anyone heard from maria hope she is ok after her dental work.

wow have I forgot anyone.

sambo hope the knees are ok

sazzles dd face has been shocking too. How bizzare. She had like red marks on chin and in random places on cheeks, around mouthetc...
She is cutting 4 teeth. MMMM ... connection possible I think. It has cleared now though.

I was thinking about Emma in that carrycot. Marcus is filling it now, but think he will look lost in the seat unit. Have been looking at 2 berry buggysnuggle son the for sales boards. Very tempted as Then I can use the raincover. As the pram sits cant go out in it as dd will get wet.

pertelote · 02/02/2009 13:07

Thanks ALBS, No1. You're right, I was psyched up for it so it's annoying - but I'm glad to be indoors. Think I'm the only person in the world who just finds snow cold wet slippery and 'orrible!

I've got DH at home too - trying to work. He's sitting in the living room with his laptop though (as am I) so I'm not very good at remembering not to talk to him and ask him to do things!

cyteen · 02/02/2009 13:59

You're not the only one pertelote, I like looking at the snow from inside a nice warm house but can happily go without sloshing through it.

Sadly I need to go to the supermarket - we have no bread and are missing a few key ingredients for a tasty tea - the question is, can I be bothered/should I brave it when Joe will have to come with me?

AnnVan · 02/02/2009 14:12

no1 I am terrible at knitting. The stictches get tighter and tighter so that the work tapers, and the wool squeaks under pressure every time I do a stitch. Gave up trying years ago. Crochet is much easier, but it's hard to find patterns for crochet.

DP worried he won't be able to go to work tomorrow either. I'm thinking it seems likely.

pertelote · 02/02/2009 14:16

Brrr, I wouldn't Cyteen unless the cupboard's really bare? Go on, challenge MN to devise your tea from what's left in the fridge... And if you've got either yeast or yoghurt you could even make bread!

cyteen · 02/02/2009 14:21

Yes, I think you're right - just spoke to DP and he advised against it too, apparently it is deathly cold and slippery out there. What a shame, we'll have to stay indoors DP has kindly offered to pick up some bits on his way home. Wish he could have the day off or to work at home; sadly his work is a walkable distance away so we'd need some serious avalanche action to make that necessary.

Ann I suck at knitting too, lack of application means I know the basic how-to but never actually do it. Been contemplating getting my needles out again actually, after going wool shopping for a friend and being seduced by all the baby yarn. Mmmmmm, soft.

pertelote · 02/02/2009 14:36

Ann how's this for a cute crochet pattern? I am registered with a site that catalogues knitting and crochet patterns so I can usually find things if you ever need... I love knitting and am semi-competent but when does one ever have both hands free these days?!
