It's hard though, when you are so tired.
I can not believe this cold has lingered so long.
Dh slept downstairs a few nights as he said he needed to catch up on some sleep before his shift this weekend.
We were both supreised when dd didn't come in to us in the night.

I obviously never ever catch up on sleep, but can hardly complain as I am not the one who has no sleep and has to go do 12/14 hour shift.

He also hates this shift as he doesn't seedcs at all as thay are asleep when he goes to work and are in bed when he gets home at 8.30pm. I forget to think about how this affects him, I Know I couldnt do it. I also appreciate I am lucky to not be going back to work.

alittlebitshy · 31/01/2009 11:59

no1 i think that was alovely post. it is hard on dhs when they have to do od hours and sometimes we don't see that through the fog of tiredness and the mist of resentment that creeps in.....

my ds a little less cranky after a nappy change and a feed (complete with squirting milk across room and in his face). Still hoarse and clearly not happy.

I dropped the calpol bottle yesterday - so must ask dh to get more...... That would a a disaster - having no calpol!

He is an IT Manager for Hsbc Bank. He works at the computer centre and yes he has to be alert, except when he is on the night shift, he occassionally gets a good break to play squash or go in gym. However he didn't once let it slip he pulled two chairs together and had an hour.
Here I was thinking he worked hard PAH!!

alittlebitshy · 31/01/2009 12:07

I wonder, does my dh's job count as having to be alert? .

Maybe on a Sunday........

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/01/2009 12:09

I would just like to add, I have long given up saying sorry for all my spelling punctuation mistakes.
I would be saying sorry for ever

alittlebitshy · 31/01/2009 12:25

me too no1 i can spell, I can type - but my fingers run ahead of me.......

Does anyone have any ideas about my dishwasher? Things -esp the top deck keep coming out dirty - grains of stuff in glasses and mugs etc. I frequently wash out the filter and try to clear the spray arrms but no change. Do i need a FDG (fecking dishwasher Genius) or do I need to get a new one?

Buckets · 31/01/2009 12:28

Albs, is your dh not on call 24hrs? BTW, if you like crime fiction at all, Phil Rickman writes excellent supernatural thrillers about a single mum vicar (and p/t diocesan exorcist) you might enjoy from your point of view.

DD still being sick so parcel will have to wait til Monday now.

Re contented babies on playmats, tis all down to the old Aspergers again. DS1 has always played v happily in his own little world (quite noisily) for hours and so is completely fascinating to babies.

Buckets · 31/01/2009 12:29

Soak the spray arms in hot soapy water? Blocked holes is usually the answer to that in my dishwasher.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/01/2009 12:34

My dh is my dishwasher so sorry have no advice on that one.

Just hung nappies out as sun out today. DD out playing but it much colder than it looks.

Dh has made a brilliant kids play area. We just got her the little tikes jungle gym and a sand pit for her upcoming birthday.
Must go as she is throwing sand all over the garden.

Like I said she would, men just don't listen do they??

sambo303 · 31/01/2009 13:52

dp has gone out to get formula, we've decided to try it for the last feed as we need more than 1.5hours consective sleep... feel a bit about it. We have agreed we're both miserable with the lack of sleep and total inability to do anything at all due to exhaustion

ds only slept for 40 mins this lunchtime instead of 2 hours and has now puked on me and himself. Going to change ...

sambo303 · 31/01/2009 13:54

sorry albs I am the dishwasher here so no advice

my dp has to stand all day at work and concentrate and works 7.30am to 4.30pm with only half an hour for lunch... poor thing - hence the formula (hope it works)

Buckets · 31/01/2009 14:15

Sambo I'm sure it does feel a bit sad but hey you got to the 6m-ish mark, tis a time of changes for babies. And bottles are quite fun when you don't have to do loads of them. Good luck.
I've bought a tin of follow-on milk for next week, am stupidly excited. Have been using Cow&Gate in tubs with the handy plastic bit for levelling the scoop but they're not v eco-friendly so have decided to switch brands to SMA tins. Tins at least can go to pre-school for noisy recycling fun.

Miamla · 31/01/2009 15:00

greetings all
i'm having to type with my fingertips because i've had a manicure this morning
it came complete with arm/hand massage and a french polish
feeling v pampered and they're doing half price deals during feb so i'm going back for a facial next saturday!

cyteen · 31/01/2009 15:42

just wanted to say Steaknife i could have written your post re. naps...sigh.

stress stress stress today, been to john lewis to buy a highchair, got it home - it's faulty. DP has gone to return it and get something else, i am at home wrestling with the incredible non-sleeping baby. so everyone is fed up!

Miamla · 31/01/2009 16:00

albs forgot to say....have you tried adding some extra salt to dishwasher? also, could be that the outlet pipe is a bit gunky (proper technical term that!) so try running empty on a hot wash (with powder or tablets) If that doesn't work ask housekeeping thread on here!

sambo how are your bruised bits today? is DS still his normal cheerful self?

no1 that's a shame. feel free to quiz me about my luna instead. I love it!

AnnVan · 31/01/2009 16:05

cyteen · 31/01/2009 16:07

re. lightweight strollers, my friend has the M+P Nipi and really rates it - seems very light, narrow, portable.

annvan are you feeling ok

sambo no no no don;t feel sad. you have done so well and if this gets you some sanity saving sleep it'll be great. When we started ds on a bedtime formula bottle it really did make a difference. Less so now but i say go for it and don;t feel guilty/sad/worried.

miamlaooh that was the surprise. Lovely lovely mmmmmm.

I want a LUNA!

cyteen i think your day warrants a loud utterance of fucksticks

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/01/2009 17:11

lol ann sambo I agree do not feel bad. You have done an amazing job BF this far.
Rememeber the very early days, when (hope people don't mind me saying) a lot of us found it very very hard. Including me who has done it before.(and struggled then too)
You do what ever works for you.
Think you deserve one of vg slaps on the back. Well done you.

vg lol at getting angry with pram.
I got angry with dd high chair. I am sure I mentioned that I flung it out of the patio (open) door on to dh newly laid turf. Still got it, still hate it. I have been looking at high chairs nearly all day.
Iwant something that has no bits, nothing fancy no crooks gaps holes for food to get stuck in and rot because you can't get it out without the use of a farking tooth pick.

and breathe ..... sorry rant over.
I should now add that the lay down feature of the highchair which has never been used is now in use, as dd has just fell asleep in her chili and rice.

cyteen fucksticks indeed. It is so annoying.

miamla I was wondering actually, is the Luna suitable for a 2yr old too??
Does it fold small ish??
Dont mind about weight as I wrestle manage with coachbuilt pram and double mb in and out of car.
I love the green/cress one.

Steaknife · 31/01/2009 17:35

cyteen - thanks. I was pretty much thinking the same thing about your post yesterday about you and DH having words in the middle of the night.

going to post and run as we are going to a friends for dinner. Though I am mighty pooped cos DH and I actually had a Friday night out.

I think two nights out constitues a social life.
