Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Steaknife · 26/01/2009 08:26

humph.

My night included bedhopping and furniture removal though it was blessed with the Fairy-french-in-law.

Iz woke at 11.30 wouldn't settle so fed again at 12.30 at 1.30 I kicked DH out to go and see to her, with much moaning from him, at 2.30 I went back in, made up spare bed and tried to co-sleep to settle her. Sometime after 3 MIL came in to find me crying and baby wide awake. Cue moving baby's cot back to her old room.

MIL then takes charge of Izzy and sends me to bed.

DH then gets up in a hump when I tell him MIL has the baby, she sends him back to bed (I like to think with a flea in his ear)

MIL then sits with Iz till she (Iz not MIL) is asleep at 5. Iz wakes at 7.

However the boob bunny has blessed me today and she has been napping since ten to nine.

So how you all doing?

Steaknife · 26/01/2009 08:30

Izzy napping, not boob bunny or MIL.

Steaknife · 26/01/2009 08:48

typed too soon. Baby awake so now in with me where she is demonstrating her farting skills.

oopsacoconutflavouredhaggis · 26/01/2009 09:15

VG - Have you had too much sugar this morning??? That was some rolling post.

Anyone for a baby?? She was awake at 2.30 starving hungry then at 5.30 fed her and she stayed awake yelling at shadows until I could take no more at 6.15 and I brought her in with us - she fed AGAIN and alternated between sleeping and yelling until 8 when DH got up and took her downstairs so I could at least wee in peace!

Quiet day planned here - filing, ironing, walking and possibly lunch out.

oopsacoconut · 26/01/2009 09:22

oooh just scored a new sling FFP on the for free board - yippeee

sambo303 · 26/01/2009 09:24

congrats on the sling oops. your quiet day sounds like a busy one to me

Will read properly and catch up later.

Too tired to think straight. Stop bloody night time wake ups. Now. Or else

Car insurance runs out today - whoops, must go buy some more....
Dsis allegedgly finished her detox yesterday. Hmmm, I don't buy it.
O is chirruping after his nap, catch you later....x

rotterpotter · 26/01/2009 10:21

Morning all .

Matchstick territory here too - after 4 nights of only waking once, DS was up at 12, 2, 4, 5.30, 6.30... he had a bit of a cough so hoping it's a one-off.

OK this time tomorrow will be on the train, just past Peterborough, next stop London [eek emoticon]. Don't know what to wear!

Steaknife · 26/01/2009 10:52

Hmm I have a question and thought I would ask here before exposing myself on other threads.

I just had a fairly typical feed and down to nap routine with Izzy.

Took her to her room and put her in her sleeping bag.
Started to feed her, she arches back and begins to cry. Soothe and put her back on the breast.
This goes on a few times, each time the cries getting stronger until we are at full screechy volume. I am now just holding her against my chest, she eventually lets out a couple of almight burps and the screaming subsides.
But it still takes a couple of attempts to get her on the breast.
During all this breasts have gone into overdrive and milk squirting everywhere.
After about 20 mins, but feels like longer, she settles happily to nurse, falls asleep and I eventually get her into her cot.

Whole thing taken about 45 minutes.

I know she is overtired at the moment, but I am beginning to wonder if there is something more to it.
She seems so upset prior to burping coupled with the fact she has never been very regular on the poo front, at the moment about every two days and very liquid without the bits you are supposed to see.

At other times will be very regular - daily - and more normal in appearance. (sorry if you are haivng your elevenses)

I haven't really worried too much before, because she is growing and generally happy.

Given that I am beginning to think about weaning I am now wondering if there is a problem that we should try to resolve it prior to adding new things to her diet.

What do y'all think?

Apologies for rambling.

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 10:53

morning, Dylan only up once at 4am and then again at 8am thank goodness as sodding DD2 was shouting all bloody night have to admit the medised came out I think somewhere between 4 and 5am

one more thing about this swimming nonsense before I shut up about it - told DH this morning and he was a bit as he's reminded me that her DS2 is in nursery Mon - Fri 8-6. now thats the space she pays for but he gets dropped in at 8am and she collects him at 2pm when she finishes as its too long a day for him to be in

which in a sense I can agree with BUT its right next to the swimming and its child care that she's paid for so why not pop him back in for the hour? I can't quite get my head round it

Miamla its not as easy as swapping help, her DS has an afterschool activity on the day that my DD has her swimming. she doesn't live particularly close to either me OR the swimming (2 villages away) and my lot are a fecking nightmare to remove if they haven't had a decent play - sounds awful but DD1 is very good friends with her DS1 so if I left DD2 to take DD1 to the swimming, DD1 would want to go in for a play after swimming which would mean we'd be home far to late etc I also now have something in place with a friend of mine in the village so the occassions when I have to take ALL of mine will hopefully become few and far between

am just whining on sorry just to clarify, I really like this lady, her boys are both very pleasant it just didn't really suit me today as DD2 is in nursery and DH and I were wanting to go to Borders for a coffee with DD1 before collecting DD2 but now can't do that, we'll need to collect DD2 earlier from nursery and bring her home as he's been told her coming here to play with her, sigh

right enough whinging from me - have have HAVE to do some bloody housework now

(might just have a quick sneak in on the barney thread before I go though!!)

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 10:55

Steak sounds to me as if she has more wind inbetween feeds maybe?

with DD3 I tend to feed until she pulls off and then that makes me believe she's got wind and won't put her back on until I get something out of her!

cyteen · 26/01/2009 10:56

rotter i'm off into town this pm to buy myself something that doesn't look like i found it in the gutter. am most impressed with dizzy and her febreeze - sometimes i don't even bother to wipe the vomit off

got a smear test this lunchtime so i deserve a treat.

buckets am salivating at the menu. it is okay to order all the desserts. right?

have had to put DS in Pampers temporarily as could no longer cope with the leaks. last night was pretty great though - no leaks, no nappy changes, no night time feeds Joe woke muttering at 1.45 and 3am but was quickly shushed, then got up at 6.30am to relieve my rock hard norks.

ooooooh i am excited about tomorrow! need to practise my forward-facing carry with the Moby today. joe is too massive to face me anymore.

Buckets · 26/01/2009 11:02

Right meetuppers, anyone want any of the following freebies?

*Nursing bra 36E black cotton
*2x 3-6m boy's sleepsuits (any littlies out there?)

Steaknife have you tried Gripe Water? It's magic, you can hear it gurgling down to the stomach. No scary chemicals but it does make their burps smell like hamburgers (dill oil).

7 Daily Sins update - 1 down, 6 to go!

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 11:10

oh buckets, well done on the making up

Steak - also agree with gripe water - brilliant stuff if the wee one having difficulties in that dept - remember to keep changing her position to help the wind 'move' e.g. Dylan sometimes benefits from being held up then we lie her down and pick her back up again so there is a shift and full stretch - does that make sense

right am absolutely going now as am getting all moral and shouty on the other thread

poppysocks · 26/01/2009 11:19

Naughty dog VG !

miamla - wasn't ignoring you last night. Really tried to think of things for your b'day, but brain was TOTALLY on strike. And then DD2 woke up. Sorry.

Dizzy - Grrr that you're going to miss out on your Borders coffee (although I initially read that as you were planning to go the THE borders for coffee ).

Right - must get on with finding a cheap new McLaren while E is asleep. Sorry sambo!

alittlebitshy · 26/01/2009 11:22

ugh -last night:
ds to sleep at 7.45.
8.15 ish wail - big burp when picked up
10.30 - feed
1.30 feed
5.30 send dh in to cuddle him but i end up feeding him. He refused to go off again so dh got him up - to dsicopver his nappy had leaked and soaked through to gro bag .

getting fed up off a) ds being cuddled to sleep at bedtime, no putting down awake
b) naptime and middle of night only feeding to sleep will do.

ARGH. Insane ALBS

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 11:23

poppy which one are you after? kiddiecare have one reduced from £110 to £89.99

here

Buckets · 26/01/2009 11:24

Steaknife Also try holding her by the thighs(back against you) over a loo before bed. The deep squat position is great for getting farts out.

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 11:28

poppy ignore that one, its even cheaper on the Boots website AND you would get points

here

poppysocks · 26/01/2009 11:43

Thanks Dizzy! Was just off looking myself. Believe it or not, Mothercare's actually looking promising on price (big sale at the moment Ladies). Going for the Quest, but trying to avoid any red. Utterly superficial, but DD2 does end up in a lot of pink and our last Maclaren had red straps and the clash with DD1's clothes always bothered me .

This one made me laugh. OMG!

Miamla · 26/01/2009 11:52

dizz, i was in the "say no camp"! my comment about swapping was to buckets about the main meals off tomorrow's menu!

VG your post really made me smile! i'm loving your ideas! Especially your idea for meeting up with other mums and babies but i reckon we should invite a giraffe as well!
DS hasn't been in an art gallery yet and i reckon that would be the perfect way to celebrate my bday and his half bday.

i actually only popped on here to ask a quick question... how do you explain the bunny shaped lump under your top??

we're now fully child proofed in our living room! DS is rolling around far too much to expect to find him even within a few metres from where you left him!

right, see you lovely ladies later

Miamla · 26/01/2009 11:54

oi! poppy! what's wrong with that pushchair?? that's the one i've got!!!

CaptainCaveman · 26/01/2009 11:56

poppy what's wrong with the leather one? I shall be bringing mine to the meet up tomorrow . Actually great minds think alike - I am just off to mothercare myself to either buy a) new reigns for the zippy pushchair (I appear to have thrown the others out!) or b) a new pushchair (shhh, don't tell dh!!)

CaptainCaveman · 26/01/2009 11:57

rotterpotter O has a cough too so I'm hoping thats what I can put his night time wakeups last night down to (x3). Just dosed him up with calpol as he's not quite his usual happy little Self
