weetimorousdizzybeastie · 25/01/2009 15:50

I only have Dylan today as after toddler gym and gymnastics this morning my friend too DD1 and DD2 out for the afternoon

DH has now gone to work and I'm just about to feed and have some cuddle time with Dylan

oh, and my house is a disgrace

Miamla · 25/01/2009 16:09

afternoon all
i'll stay for a bit more than a hello this time!

my DP has got an Italian friend who came round today and cooked us an amazing lunch! He brought all the ingredients with him and he's left us with enough leftovers for dinner (and a mountain of washing up!)

15 of us on tues?? that's brilliant!

McStadenofKilsyth · 25/01/2009 16:24

Hello everyone

Seb ended up staying over at MIL's with his auntie looking after him. She brought him back round at about ten this morning. Bloody movie didn't finish till gone two this morning. Still it was really good to have a night off.

So excited about Tuesday. Are we taking the whole place over for the day? so looking forward to meeting you lot. Will have to take someone's mobile number for when I get lost.

McStadenofKilsyth · 25/01/2009 16:27

h and I love this thread. No one flamed me for the fact that little man is now having a bit of baby porridge (plum organic one, gluten free)

I was thinking if doing blw but have got so fed up of bfc at bf group banging on about it all the time that I am going to do purees instead. Woman is a little too far up her own arse for my liking. Very 'thou shalt' about everything, it gets up my nose a little bit.

CaptainCaveman · 25/01/2009 16:30

Cyteen have asked you to be my fb friend - I'll let you know where I'm sitting (seat pre-booked) and you can choose whether you fancy company or not!

lol at weaning thread - the problem with not being able to see the person you're talking/ty[ing to is that you cannot see in what context they mean their words. eg. I could either be really offended by what tiktok typed or I could think she was being pally . Paranoid? moi?

CaptainCaveman · 25/01/2009 16:31

ann I started weaning at 17 weeks and people still talk to me on here!

AngusSteaknife · 25/01/2009 16:31

Izzy has just konked out on me. Not sure whether to put her to bed in her clothes or wake her up and change her...

AngusSteaknife · 25/01/2009 16:34

That weaning thread did get a bit messy didn't it. Izzy is 21 weeks, I gave her a spoon, she poked herself in the eye. Not ready me'thinks.

sleekitsambo303 · 25/01/2009 16:49

lol steak dp gave ds some melon to suck on yesterday, he loved it. He was pressing it to his mouth, with a bit of help... but will wait til he can do more himself

am a bit of all your fb ers - should I join/should I not dilemma... conspiracy theories have put me off a bit

mcstaden I recognise what you're saying, I always do the opposite of what I'm told - to the extent that my parents bought me a plate when I was a toddler with 'Mary Mary quite contrary' on it and I ate off that plate the whole of my childhood

cyteen · 25/01/2009 17:00

I've been holding food near Joe to see if he grabs for it...he took a piece of salad to his mouth at lunchtime today but then stopped, like he didn't really know what was supposed to happen next He's well up for a cup of tea though! He'll grab for those every time [dangerous practices emoticon].

cyteen · 25/01/2009 17:01

Dunno what's going on today but Joe has been the life and soul of the party All smiles and laughter, all the time. Feeling seriously loved up with my PFB

TwilightSurfer · 25/01/2009 17:04

okay...i'm lost now. mcstraden??? new or old with new mask???

TwilightSurfer · 25/01/2009 17:05

wait that Ann isn't it?!

TwilightSurfer · 25/01/2009 17:06

yes...mention to no one else on mn that your dc has had anything else in their mouth except boob!!

OR BE BURNED AT THE STAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cyteen · 25/01/2009 17:09

or burned at the steak, even

RotterMcPotter · 25/01/2009 17:32

Not in any way judging any of you who have decided to wean already (I wouldn't dare ) but is anyone else waiting until 6 months? Starting to feel like a right girly swot . No change there then...

cyteen · 25/01/2009 17:34

At the moment I'm planning to - DS isn't even 5 months yet so we've got ages. If he unequivocally shows me he's ready before then, then fine, but otherwise I'm in no hurry

alittlebitshy · 25/01/2009 17:37

ds was over 24 weeks so we nearly made it. heifer though....

OP posts:
McStadenofKilsyth · 25/01/2009 17:41

RmcP I planned to wait till 6 months, but Seb was grabbing so desperately at food, and yes biting it off etc. So that's why we've given in and started with the porridge.
Cyteen Seb is also very into tea. I have a hard time drinking it because he grabs my mug. He can actually bring it to his mouth and tip it up so I constantly have to hold it out of his reach.

sleekitsambo303 · 25/01/2009 17:49

rotter I am waiting, it's dp who is not. I protested at the melon (my mum is allergic !) but was told not to be so precious. Dp does not believe the WHO guidelines . Trying not to have an argument about it cos i know he thinks ds will sleep more if he has food.(tried to explain that was unlikely but was poopoo ed (sp?)) . Anyway, I plan for ds to have no solids til 26 weeks and am trying to dissuade dp (who has read precisely zero about weaning anyway). It was exciting though to see ds's interest in melon juice (it was a dry and tasteless melon btw so I'm sure he didnt really get much, he may just have liked the cold sensation as it was just out the fridge)

McStadenofKilsyth · 25/01/2009 17:49

Totally gorgeous -he's currently sucking/chewing a stick of raw carrot. It's supposed to be good for teething, and it's giving my aching fingers a break

TwilightSurfer · 25/01/2009 18:09

On the SLEEP THROUGH topic as it relates to food my favorite pediatrician told me once (can't remember with which dc now...sad, isn't it) that it's not the intake but the bmi that triggers the "sleep through" ability. Babies with a higher BMI will begin to sleep through sooner, so she said. In my case, that theory has held true. Reese is much chunkier than dd1 was and likewise she sleep through (9pm to 4am) much much sooner than dd1. She said it had to do with "food stores". The reserves in the chunkier of my two dcs allowed for her to maintain blood sugar levels for a longer period of time.

Take that doctor's theory or leave it you like.

I guess the bottom line in that theory is it's not the food intake (milk vs solids) but the baby's metabolism that drives the ability to sleep through.

TwilightSurfer · 25/01/2009 18:10

gosh
did that make sense?
