Inzi - big hugs to you hun - really feel for you. Balloon thing sounds lovely - glad you were all able to do it together on the day. Sorry you're not getting much support with the hospital visits. Don't blame you for ranting.

Stefka - personal shopper service is free! But I did buy quite a lot of clothes , which is what they hope - but they theoretically don't mind if you don't buy anything at all.

FT - sorry you're having a difficult time today with the anniversary. NC put it beautifully. Big hugs. Orchestra and choir on Sunday were really good (I've heard so much worse !) - they coped admirably in the difficult sections and the conductor was sensible not to be too adventurous with the speeds in places!

LLL - sorry your dh is going through a stressful time. Hope he can keep going through the recession.

NC - pmsl at Shannon snogging a boy. I can see her teen years being difficult .

This morning I took Anya to a group I've not been to before - it's one of the SureStart ones but it's targeted at under-5s so it's got a real mix of ages - a bit like softplay but with some arts/crafts stuff thrown in for the older ones. Anya had a ball - there was an 8 month old boy who sat contentedly in the middle of a mat while Anya stuffed plastic food (carrots/strawberries) into his mouth. Then she found a toy doctors set and discarded everything except the syringe which she also popped into this baby's mouth (giving him medicine). Apparently he's not usually that well behaved - he must have taken a shine to Anya. No snogging involved though .

Lovely ladies I have missed some big days - sorry...

Inzi sending you massive hugs honey. You have had a tough couple of days and I am sending you belated big hugs. Hope your grandad's appointment today went well xxx

Floria thinking of you too with it being 2 years since your dad passed away. Don't know how you feel and hope its a long time till I do as i'm absolutely dreading it... Wish I was there to hear you sing too!

WWAJC I also like the sound of the personal shopper. My cousin did a similar thing and it sounded fab too - maybe I will try sometime although spare cash will not be there for a while if we get the house...

Lisa sorry to hear your dh is struggling with work too...

Big hugs to everyone else - NC, LES, Dal and the rest!

Well we finally know the outcome of the survey - basically a lot of things that are easily obvious, a few minor problems that to my mind you should expect when buying an old house, and a load of upgrade type things that I think they are taking the piss by even mentioning - i mean if you want to upgrade the insulation and put in a fire door you should feel free but not on my bloody budget!!! No idea why they were playing silly buggers not letting us see it either. The long and the short of it is they have asked for 7K off which we don't think is fair. we will get proper copy of survey tomorrow to look at and have asked them to break down how they have got to 7K so that we can start negotiating. Bottom line is we CAN afford it (just) but it will be very tight and we think they are taking the piss. Not worth losing the sale over though so the trick now is to judge just how much we can push without them walking away... Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Alice I think I would be likely to call their bluff, but then that is what i am like-hope you get it sorted, maybe meet half way? greedy twats, they can't afford the price they've offered i bet.

well Shannon is being a little sod today, nothing is good enough, she doesn't want her blanket but doesn't want me touching it either, she doesn't want to be in her high chair, but she wants to lean against it...grr Kids!

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2009 11:11

LES-this any good to you? and any others who live in or close to London

LisaLessLumpy · 11/03/2009 20:40

FT - sorry I missed the anniversary of your dad, I know exactly how you feel. Hope you are feeling a little better today xxx

Well I was up with Ben again last night, throwing up at 2.30, 3.00 and 3.30am, I then woke up at 5am, and Sam was up at 6.15am [yawn]
Early night for me tonight I think

NeedCoffee · 11/03/2009 21:02

LLL-poor you, hope you get a full nights sleep tonight

well i've had a busy day, Shannon really has acted up, she was shouting at a woman in a shop to 'GET DOWN,DOWN,DOWN' because she was on a step stacking shelves (think its because i shout at the cat when she's high up) she wouldn't come down stairs unless i let her come down herself on her bum, wont get dressed unless i let her put her own socks on(often upside down (the socks, not her)) her own trousers on(which i must admit, she does quite well) her boots, scarf and then i need to pin her down to put her coat on, she kept running off round the shops and in the street-i forgot to take her reins) and she will not hold my hand and walk with me anymore, shes acting like a stroppy teenager-guess she wants to be more independent!

alicet · 11/03/2009 23:07

NC pmsl at Shannon shouting down down!!!! thats really funny and I was also lol at the other things you said! Adam also has stroppy teenager tendancies on occasion so I could really imagine her!

Yes I think our buyers are taking the mick and my tendancy is to say (although poss a bit more polite ) 'You are taking the PSS* - there is NOTHING on the survey to justify taking off a single effing penny never mind 7 grand!' Having said that I am concious of not cutting our nose off to spite our face - the market is still falling and if this sale falls through then we would never get a similar offer in the near future and if it was dependent on a mortgage then the house may not make that on their valuation. So I think we will have to bite our tongues, try and negotiate, but at the end of the day if they are not moving I think we will have to suck it up in order to get the house we want. Will make things very tight but will be worth it in the long run...

Dh and I did amuse ourselves last night by trying to think of things we could do to the house that we would get away with once we have exchanged contracts . Won't do any of it of course (and our hands are tied with a lot of stuff as we have already said what things we are leaving) but our ideas included sticking prawns between the floorboards to 'fester' a little and sticking a couple of packs of baby wipes down the toilet! Any other ideas welcome !!! Like I say we won't do any of it but thinking about it certainly amused us and made us less pissed off about it all!!!!

Oh and they didn't send the survey through as promised - here's hoping it arrives tomorrow....

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2009 23:14

Alice, did you see in the paper today about the guy who was trying to sell his house? He couldn't get a buyer so reduced it still couln't sell after 10m i think so he had 400,000 tickets printed up registered with a charity and agreed to pay 7.5% of earnings to them. Sold the tickets for £1 each and raffled his home. the winner paid £1 for a ticket and got a new house and he walked off with something like £385,000 for a house he couldn't sell for £185,000

OP posts:
alicet · 11/03/2009 23:19

LES that's brilliant! I hadn't seen the story but what a class plan! Wish I could be bothered to try and sell 400,000 tickets and we'd be sorted!

NeedCoffee · 11/03/2009 23:25

ha Alice-it was even worse when i had to drag her away, and she was digging her heels in, insisting the bloody woman got DOWN, she's got ishoos that girl!

will try and think of somethings...Crapping in the toilet cistern?? thats a bit gross so isn't it lol. Tbh, you can't blame them for trying it on though i suppose, although its still shitty of them to do it, maybe you could try and hold your house purchase up by doing a similar thing? shitty again, but may have to be done if possible.

right off to bed, been looking at London hotels for LESs los christening and getting crossed eyes.

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/03/2009 11:56

LOL NC Sounds like fun!

Alice, he sold them all online sounds like a good way of ensuring you get a good sale lol.

Hugs for all going through a rough time atm.

NC, I have a list of local b&b's for you. some are cheaper than others.

I wish I had a big enough flat so all you ladies could come and stay for the christening.

Do any of you have any ideas what I can get muck magnet to wear? Am at such a loss as to what to get lol so all ideas would be welcome.

alicet · 12/03/2009 13:43

OK so we've heard back from our buyers and better news than could have hoped for! They have asked for £1100 off as this is for the work that has been deemed essential on the survey (still not seen that yet although Rich has). So we're all go once more and fingers crossed this time it should go through with no hitches. I'm absolutely over the moon!

Boys asleep now and have a tonne of work to do for a meeting tomorrow that I was meant to do last night and couldn't concentrate on because of house so off to do that now and then I can hopefully do a bit of tentative celebrating tonight with dh!

LisaLessLumpy · 12/03/2009 13:59

Great news alice

NeedCoffee · 12/03/2009 16:04

how weird, i posted last night, and its not showing where is everyone today anyway???

Dalrymps · 12/03/2009 16:08

Hi ladies, sorry i've not caught up for a while...

LLL - So sorry your dh id struggling with work, all this recession stuff is sooo scary. Hope it picks up again soon. Sorry you were up again last night, you really could do with a break!

Floria - Sorry I missed the anniversary of you loosing your dear dad. You're right, it really isn't fair! I'm sure your dad would be wonderfully proud of Alex, he's such a gorgeous, clever, lovely little boy. I've no doubt your dad is watching all that he gets up to from wherever he is.

NC - Hope Shannon stops being a rascal bag soon... Dylan has his moments but I tend to ignore all tantrums and they seem to blow over, I do wonder if people think i'm heartless if they see me doing thisIt seems to have cured his making himself sick trick for now though so think it's th e way to go.

Lol at her snogging boys too

WWAJC - Glad Anya enjoyed the baby group, lo at her 'giving medicine' to the other little boy

Alice - Sorry you've been through the mill with the house sale. So glad you've got good news today . I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you that it's all plain sailing from here!

Stefka - Hope work is going ok and you're not too tired

Inzi - Hope the trip to the hospital went ok and without a hitch. I hate going anywhere far and having to plan meals and naps for Dylan etc. I also panick the moment I get lost when driving, thank god for dh!

Les - Hope the Christening goes wonderfully. I wish I could make it but we're broke at the moment and are already having to travel to my bro's around that week for my nieces 1st birthday...Damn it, I live so far away from everyone!

Well, my AF was due todat and I had a few spots last time I went to the loo so think it's on it's way . I really thought we might have done it this month.

Anyone know what the average time it takes to concieve is? If we don't concieve in the next few months i'll have to wait till after dh's pgce - sept 2011 I don't know how i'm gonna wait that long, really wanted another baby now

Ah well, i'm off to watch crap tv and feel sorry for myself!

Hi to everyone i've missed, chat again soon x
