Hi - welcome to the new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

notsoslim
the formula is from birth to 12 months. i've made a list of requests for friday:

1.prescription only formula
2.i want to see a pediatrician so he can run further tests

  1. i want a better dosage of medication, since this doesn't seem like it's working. (but i've only tried the afternoon dose so far)
  2. i want some of that dermbase cream stuff debs is talking about.

LC
He was 6.75kg last Wednesday. My stepmother (the doctor) is sending me a box full of medicine that she used for us. She will also ask one of her pediatrician friends to prescribe Noah some stronger stuff once my aunt and uncle have checked him over to make sure it's ok.

i'm really sad that i'm not watching the inauguration. i didn't think obama was gonna wini really wanted him to. i even voted for him. and then he won, and i feel like celebrating, i want to dance and be really happy that bush isn't in office anymore and that a real live black guy won. after bush won the second time, the wars continued on and on i didn't think the racial climate had settled down enough for us to have a non wasp for a president whose middle name is Hussien. i am soo proud! but tired. and lonely.

digitalgirl · 20/01/2009 18:07

Hooray! Obama is President!

A watched the inauguration and the first presidential speech from his playmat. I thought he was asleep but his eyes were open and he was watching the tv intently!

We had a very good day today. After a good night (for the DG household anyway), I managed to get A to sleep for an hour this morning before Monkey Music - a new music class I'm trialling - got there just in time and he loved it! Much less raucous than mini-mozart, so I think we'll put mini-mozart on hold for now and go to this more sedate class. A is a sensitive soul and cries if it gets too noisy!

Then after that we went to my local M&B group and he had a great time there too. Oddly did the thing where I thought he was falling asleep (lying on his front with his head down), but he was just resting between playing. Got chatting with a couple of mums and it looks like we're going to organise a local mums night out. How exciting!

Then all this afternoon A has been really chatty and playful - bar a momentary lapse whilst feeding (can't seem to get through a feed at all now without fussing with his fingers). It's bathtime now and he's currently having fun with his dad.

Think I'm beginning to get the hang of this parenting lark! (probably jinxed it now)

imoscarsmum thanks for the age reminder!

Gee, between the maggots, the mice and the moths that I've just discovered have taken up residence in my Ugg boots (big hole, lots of husks), we're a really hygenic thread!

lollyheart I'm in West Sussex, but virtually Hants, so let me know if you plan a get together - I might be able to make it (if I'm invited!)

Eandz that is the best present ever! Wish my inlaws had done that instead of giving me a twee memory box, which was missing the one thing I really wanted - a newspaper from the day T was born.

T spent the inauguration carrying on his feed, blissfully unaware of the momentous occasion he had his back to! How much did Dubya look like he was biting his tongue every time Obama mentioned terrorists/war etc?!

Pacita · 20/01/2009 18:40

Yes, hooray! It was nice to see the back of Bush disappearing inside that helicopter... Diego and I were watching too.

We went to the osteopath today and D thoroughly enjoyed it. The little tart spent the session cooing and smiling at the osteopath, who was properly charmed. He loved having his clothes off and being stroked and massaged. They told us that he is a strong healthy boy, despite the slightly uneven head, and that the treatment could really help with his eczema too! He'll be coming back for a few more sessions, and I have booked one for my poor knackered back too.

Thoroughly recommend it!

lollyheart · 20/01/2009 19:17

Hopefully shall we try and set a date then?

I can only do tuesdays at mo, you tell me whens best for you, oh i would also prefer to meet somewhere i can drive to, i dont think i could cope with 3 dc on public transport on my own, sorry to be picky

Anyone is welcome

DebiTheScot · 20/01/2009 20:04

Tuesdays are good for me too. And mornings are better too. I'm happy to come to Basingstoke either by car or train. Will we go for meeting somewhere out or at someones house? (you'd all be welcome to come to mine but it isn't big enough for us 4, never mind lots of extras!

Meglet · 20/01/2009 20:14

lolly We really should meet up soon. But I'll plan it so I don't have to bring DS, he'll get bored and start being a pickle . He doesn't understand sitting still. Or we could meet at JJ's / Playhouse / gym tots etc.

I think DD will have to come out of the lying flat baby part of the Phil & Teds as her feet are poking out the end under DS's bottom! She isn't supposed to be in the seat until 6 months but she starts screaming whenever she's in it at the moment so I'm going to have to see if she is secure in the seat if I recline it. My friend had to move her DD into the phil & teds seat at 5 months as it didn't fit her anymore.

pacita. the osteopath sounds fab! I have been meaning to get myself pampered and have my back tweaked. I could do with reflexology too, and facial, and sports massage, and manicure....... etc....

notcitrus · 20/01/2009 20:15

Missed the inauguration - was hoping to go to Madame Tussauds today as they're unveiling the Obama statue and letting Americans in free, but was feeling grotty over the weekend - A and I have colds again, so didn't.

eandz · 20/01/2009 20:34

yeah i was going to go to madame tussauds since it's literally next door. but decided to have my first real run instead.

imoscarsmum · 20/01/2009 20:52

C was a little star today with her jabs (and DP came too!). She cried a little bit then was all smiley happy.
She's currently fast asleep having guzzled about 32oz today and fell asleep on her last bottle at 7pm - little tired one! She has finally hit the 13lb mark too!!

It's amazing how full my days are now - it's difficult squeezing new things in. I was very apprehensive of the local mum & baby group but they've been fab and I'm seeing the mums there at least once a week, often more. Great to talk things through with others in RL.
Interestingly, I've only met 2 or 3 women in RL who are still bf, majority ff. Is that because the women who use mn are extremely well informed about bf or that most women in RL get very little support when they try to bf I wonder?
Certainly most women i talk to all say they wanted to bf but felt they just didn't get the help in RL (myself included).

lollyheart · 20/01/2009 20:57

meglet i was going to suggest jjs. my dc would get bored to, at least we can still drink tea and chat while they play

Can anyone make the 27th or the 3rd feb?

hopefully you are welcome to.

Hopefully · 20/01/2009 21:07

Basingstoke is fine for me - the trains are pretty regular. Is that where those places you mentioned are? And Tuesdays are fine, both those dates are free

imoscarsmum I have found that almost everyone at my NCT baby group BFs (there is one woman I have spotted furtively bottle feeding in the corner, but she only came once. I wonder whether they banned her ). However, everywhere else I go it's FF all the way. Interesting how there's such a split between different groups isn't it? MN gives a slightly distorted view I think, as so many people on here seem to BF (and do BLW - I don't expect to come across that much in RL).

ninja · 20/01/2009 21:08

Send good vibes for some sleep tonight - what with Maebh being up every 2 or 3 hours, and DH (back from pub, up to bed an hour later and wandering hands another hour later) didn't get much sleep last night.

OP posts:
ninja · 20/01/2009 21:17

Just checked M's baby book (which DD1 has written all over ) and by day 5 she was doing a 5 hour stretch after 10pm, so what's gone wrong?

OP posts:
Pacita · 20/01/2009 21:25

Yes please, can I have some sleep vibes too? What with insomnia two nights ago, and a wet baby last night I feel as zombie as if I had a newborn.

sleeeeeeep

DebiTheScot · 20/01/2009 21:26

I can do either of those dates but the 3rd Feb is better. Where's JJs?

jennylindinha · 20/01/2009 21:31

Ninja, it's the same here... DD was doing a 5 hour stretch every night when she was just a couple of weeks old. Over the last few weeks that has gone and I'm lucky to get 4 hours out of her at one stretch!

She is currently in DP's arms being jiggled about a bit after a MASSIVE screaming fit... Really out of character for her and she has also been really sick today so maybe she's caught our horrid cold or something

Good luck getting your LOs to sleep everyone!

ps. Ninja - love the "wandering hands" description of your DP - sounds very familiar (bless 'em)

lollyheart · 20/01/2009 21:48

hopefully yes jjs is in basingstoke its a soft play center. you can get a taxi or bus from outside the train station.

debithescot i will facebook you the directions.

The 3rd is looking good, i dont mind what time im free all day on tuesdays.

Hopefully · 20/01/2009 22:04

Can we make it after 10am? Or I could get there a bit late if you want to meet earlier - I'm not sure I can get into gear to leave the house to get there earlier than that!
Yay, how exciting to meet more of you in RL! I'm going to be the only one with only 1 child aren't I? And you're all going to impress me with your fabulous coping abilities while I fail miserably to get me and DS there in one piece, without a poo explosion or hysterics?

Pacita · 20/01/2009 22:08

LOL, hopefully - accurate description of my outings into the world with the PFB.

lollyheart · 20/01/2009 22:28

hopfully are you on fb?

lollipopmother · 20/01/2009 23:06

Jesus EandZ, you ran for an HOUR?! I was feeling quite smug that I ran for 15ish mins today without stopping! I could've run about 20 metres further but no more! Are you embarking upon a diet and fitness regime or something because an hour is hardcore surely?! I'm just FBing you too by the way.

Hopefully · 20/01/2009 23:15

no, i'm not on facebook (luddite that i am). probably i should accept defeat and join, but i am clinging on! think i may be the only person in the entire world not on there.

Lollipop i was pretending not to notice eandz running for an hour. i went on the exercise bike earlier and nearly keeled over after 20 mins, and it is definitely easier than running!

Hopefully · 20/01/2009 23:17

Lolly do you have a vaguely anonymous email address? mine's my full name, but can post it and get it removed - would probably be good to get mobile numbers in case of disaster (yes, we all know i'm going to be the one phoning, 'help, we fell asleep on the train and we're in Aberdeen').

lollipopmother · 20/01/2009 23:18

Hopefully - Have you stopped the custard cremes yet?!
