Flick - Yes, still coming to London on THursday, but think it will be too much of a rush to try and meet!! I have to be back for Swimming at 4pm!! Will e-mail you!

I also don't use Johnsons - but it's because I'm allergic to them. No clue if DS is, but I never given them the chance. ANother PFB organic one here

Hope everyone is well! Must go and feed DS!

I'm a really bad Mummy and generally don't wash my boys well they sit in their nightly bath for a splash about . Although DS2 does have quite dry skin so we now have Dermol bath emollient. We have really hard water and think any soap just dries them out more.

Hope everyone is getting some of this lovely sun and managing a few moments to enjoy it!

baiyu · 18/03/2009 16:55

What a beautiful day! Sadly sitting in waiting for tesco delivery now so can't be outside but did a 'buggy strides' class in the park this morning which was just gorgeous. So warm and I loved the class too, wish I'd heard about them so much earlier. What a difference the weather makes, hope it lasts! I wish we had a garden. Got my hair cut today for the first time in a year so I'm feeling quite a blow-dried glam mummy, not that it'll ever look this good when I do it!

DS has really bad skin at the moment too, we've had loads of emolients, special bath stuff, hydrocortisone (sp?) and no difference. He's covered in little scratches especially on his face and chest and keeps knocking off all the scabs and leeding . Don't know how to make it better, can't get him to keep gloves/mits on and I can only keep his hands away from his face so much. People keep asking if he's had chickenpox Any ideas?

Hope you're all having a good day

gingerwench · 18/03/2009 18:49

baijyu we're using epaderm, hydrocortisone ointment and an antiseptic bath emollient at the moment recommended by dermatology nurse at sick kids - she also said to get a GP referral to their special dermatology clinic - have you been seen them? Agree gorgeous day so I had a nice long walk.... slow but long!

if you haven't tried diprobase already I have a spare tube you can have

baiyu · 18/03/2009 23:18

Ooh that'd be great gingerwench and thanks for the advice fuzzypeach, we haven't tried that one yet. I think we're currently on the same as your DS gingerwench, except we've run out of hydrocortisone (after 4 tubes is this a problem?) If the diprobase does nothing fot your DS then we'd love the spare tube! I coule wander up and get it when you know you're in? Or if you're down my way I could come and meet you (or come and have coffee )

Haribosmummy · 19/03/2009 20:04

Hi guys!!

Just a quickie from me. DS is back on form after a few days of terrible sleeping patterns etc., I thought it was just teeth, but on Tuesday he came down with a terrible rash - I (of course ) rushed him straight to the Drs who told me it was the tail end of a viral infection - so not teeth at all!!!

Sorry to hear about the itchy skin - that's sounds very frustrating for a 10 month old!!! Hope you manage to get a solution, Baiyu

I went for my consultant appt and heard DB (dear Baby!!)'s heartbeat. Still don't look (or feel!) particularily pregnant, so that was nice!!

Hoep you are all well.

Flick - Hope you have a lovely day tomorrow with DS2!!

LM74 - How is your shoulder now? And how is SB?

Mitchell - any word on your DH's working patterns?

Morning! I hope everyone's getting some of this lovely weather, it's really perked me up .

Had a call from the hospital yesterday to say DS2's appt has been cancelled due to consultant changes. So that's annoying, DH had cancelled his 1st 2 hrs of the morning. It was perfect being 9am and a Thursday when DS1 is in nursery. Ah well, I just hope we hear soon about another, or I'll be wondering about getting a private referral.

Must remember to post my Mum's mother's day card. Hope all you Mummies out there have a good one.

Off for DS1's swimming lesson this morning, chance for me to have a coffee and catch up with his friend's Mummies, lovely!

Mitchell81 · 20/03/2009 14:59

Niknak How annoying them changing the date, hopefully you get another one soon.

Haribo When is your next scan? Probably going next week, but will see as probably will change again. At this rate he will still be home for easter.

Well after 9 months of our house being on the market and finally getting offers we have decided to take to off and stay where we are. And now will be putting on an extension to make the access to the garden better. As it is big enough with 4 bedrooms.

So now that we are staying I can start buying stuff for this house and garden again. Need to plant a hedge infront to make front garden more private so that will be DH job this weekend.

Baiyu Hope DS skin improves, How is DP job hunting going? And gingerwench and Fuzzy you aswell.

We have wonderful weather here aswell makes life so much better doesn't it. It definetley makes me happy.

We are having sunday lunch at ours on Sunday, being lazy and M&S meal deal will be cooking.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL MOTHERS'S DAY

luckymummy74 · 21/03/2009 14:42

HM Thanks for asking. SB is doing really well, he seems to be getting over his heartache quite quickly, thankully.

Shoulder is still bothering me. I'm trying to decide whether to have a steroid injection or not. Some days are really good, but it still affects my sleep and hurts quite a lot of the time. I keep just thinking that I have to put up with it while I have DD2 to lug about, but it does really get me down. I'm able to swim now but there are still a lot of things it limits me on. Even pushing the buggy today was really hurting.

Having a lovely sunny day here. DH at work all day, so me and the girls walked to town (quite a long way for DD1, I was impressed!) and I decided that as it was almost mother's day that we'd have a treat so we went to costa coffee for a cake!! (DD1 Loves going to costa!!).

Re: dry skin, DD1 never really suffered, then suddenly when she was one, she got a lot of pacthes of eczema, typical places, back of knees, etc, HV said at the time I was bathing her too much (everyday). I felt convinced at the time it was the switch to cow's milk. I stopped bathing her as often, just 2-3 times a week, and we used aqueous cream after bath. I can't remember how long it took but she's fine now.

Have a lovely Mother's Day all of you, especially those of you whom it's your first one....it's very special!

Just heard that Jade Goody died this morning. How very sad. Whatever you think about her, what an awful waste of a young life. Made me very sad.

Haribosmummy · 22/03/2009 10:32

I agree with you Macaco... So very sad.

THere is a thread about it in 'In the News' and, thankfully, everyone has been very supportive. As you say, whatever you think / thought about her, she was only 27 and the mother of two young boys. THat is very sad.

I'm also feeling sad for Baby OT's parents today. OT had a similar condition to DH's son (who died at 4 months) and my heart gos out to them. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the court case, my inclination would have been to provide care just for today... I feel desperately sorry for that mum today too.

GOsh, sorry, how depressing. I hope you all have lovely days - give your kids an extra big kiss and cuddle, eh??

I too felt very sad about Jade Goody, I think because it was Mother's Day and I just couldn't stop thinking about her two little boys and how they would have got her cards/pressies etc and she died at about 4am. It actually made me cry and want to hold my two children and never let them go .

On the plus side, I had a lovely Mother's Day, despite having all of DH's family over for the day! I got a voucher for a full body massage.....can't wait to use it!!!!

Mitchell - Just wanted to say:Hope DS2 is feeling better soon. I think you are a total STAR for not flipping out... I would have been a nightmare!! Has his temp come down at all?

FP - Hope you get your Pizza!!! Glad to hear you had a lovely mothers day...

Flick Glad you got the card!!

Mothers day was a bit of a non event here.. I got a card, but not a mothers day card and some jelly babies (which DSD2 ate the majority of!) and some flowers from the garden (which are cool!) DH just isn't in to stuff like that ( I had to write HIS mothers day card, so it's not like I can complain I get left out!!)... we didn't go out and DH ate with DSDs so I actually ate alone.. but such is life.

Am really looking forward to Dh not being in Russia F/T... Am hoping (praying!!) that will happen before Dbaby arrives!!

Anyway, I have a day out in Cambridge tomorrow - just me and DS, but it will be nice nonetheless and I've just signed up to a toy service called 'Merrygoround toys' - looks great and (not sure about your LOs) DS gets BORED so easily!! so I'll let you know how that goes!!

Haribo He seems much better, last dose of calpol was 7am and his temperature has been so high again.

Sorry to hear that you had a quiet mothers day, I got lots of handmade gifts from DS1(playgroup) and DD (school) which was nice. Wait until DS starts going to these sort of activities and you will never have to rely on DH remembering.

Also feel sorry for Jade's boys it is so sad to lose your mother so young

Mitchell81 · 23/03/2009 15:30

Should read hasn't been so high

luckymummy74 · 24/03/2009 15:12

HM sorry too to hear that your Mother's Day was not what it should have been.
I agree with mitchell, soon it won't be up to DH, you will have two devoted little children who will make you feel like the star that you are!

I've decided to have a steroid injection into my shoulder. It's still really painful. It's booked for 8th April. I'm supposed to 'not use my arm' for 5 days afterwards....... DH is off most of Easter, but I'm not gonna be able ot not use it at all!

I know I may seem a bit OTT here, but is anyone else thinking about weaning their lo's off bottles? I know the recommendation is to be off them by the time they are one year old. I can remember managing it with DD1 (with a struggle). DD2 readily drinks milk out of a bottle, and water out of a cup, but when I put milk in the same cup, she goes mad! She won't drink it, pushes it away etc. I think DD1 did the same and we just persevered .

LM xx

Haribosmummy · 25/03/2009 08:13

Thanks LM - At least I got a card!! A couple of friends here didn't even get that!!

GOod luck with the steroid injection, hope it does the trick!

I honestly hadn't heard anything about having LOs off bottles by a year... My DSDs certainly weren't, by any stretch of the imagination!!! and I haven't even considered it with DS... He still has 3-4 bottles a day, but will quite happily take milk from a cup (but it has to be milk... even watered down stuff... won't touch water or juice!!!)... Sorry, maybe I'm confused... Are they supposed to be off milk (formula)or just the idea of having it in a bottle???

GOsh, DSD1 had a bottle (and I do mean an Avent BOTTLE) until she was about 5!!!
Mitchell - glad that your DS2 is feeling better!!

FLick - sorry for the rushed call yesterday!! Sorry you've been in the wars... Hope your throat is better today!

Niknak - Any news on DSs appt yet?

FP - Hope you are getting your boss sorted!!!!

How is everyone else? I'm (obviously!) now not going to even think about going back to work for a couple of years now and am thinking of retraining while I have some time off... I'm sick of being an industrial chemist - there are no good jobs which are even slighly child friendly!... Thinking of something completely different - maybe a chiropidist or something!!!

Well, best get on... Ddog is itching to get into the fields!!

Happy Wednesdays, everyone!

Hi everyone,

this will probably be super speedy as DS is due to wake any minute now. Sorry for no personal messages, hope everyone is well.

DS still has 3 or 4 bottles a day. I think the idea is to get them onto a cup by about a year, rather than off milk. DS will have water out of an avent cup with teat but not very good at it.

Well, not impressed with my doctor. Went today to ask about the pill as I'm a bit fed up of condoms and I had such atrocious PMT last month (feeling really really low and weepy and narky) and I thought it might even out the hormones so to speak. He was really offhand, said there are only 2 ! Yasmin and Dianette. Spanish healthcare only pays for Dianette so it would cost me about 1.30E a month but Yasmin isn't covered by seguridad social so it would be 10E a month.
I asked what the difference was and he said Yasmin "doesn't have side effects" which is CLEARLY bollocks as ALL pills do, some less than others but no pill has no side effects. So I ask what the side effects of the Dianette are; "thrombosis". No explanation of risks, differing level of risks, nothing, just "thrombosis".
So I said, write me down the name of Yasmin then (as he can't prescribe it as it's not covered by the health system) and left. Then on the way home I was thinking that he didn't even ask me if I smoke or take my blood poressure or anything and as far as he knows I'm going to go and buy it.
Got home, googled Dianette and it's linked to depression, which is what I'd said I was hoping to sort out by going on the pill. ARRRRGH
So, I'm not going on the pill.
Right, rant over. How are you all?

luckymummy74 · 25/03/2009 11:44

Yes it's off bottles not off milk. Cos of their teeth apparently. The HVs here always go on about it.

DD2 seems to have suddenly taken to it and now has her (2) lots of milk a day in cups!!

Haribosmummy · 25/03/2009 13:22

Oh dear... Maybe I should actually go and see the HVs now and again... Haven't been since DS's 8 month check up!!!
