Hmm, we may be having teeth issues here too. Certainly sleep ones which have been even worse since the bug (all gone now thankfully though I had it too until yesterday - no fun ). At this rate I'm going to have a teenager who can only BF to sleep and not anywhere ut my bed . Can't get him to go anywhere near his cot (apart from as a fun place to play) or go to sleep on his own anywhere. I'm out of ideas (and patience).Hummph.

Another guitar HM? Will he need a different one to play to two babies? Or a different one while walking the dog? Hmm. Or maybe a different one to go in a different car? Hehe. I think you should feel no shame with your buggy buying!

Sho DS's fell off naturally too at about 5 days.

Another weekend with no washing machine, a laundrette is all very well but I'm not going to carry buckets of dirty nappies around the city! Had to buy yet more disposables and I hate them! (no offence to all disposable users, I'm just a bit of a real nappy addict )

I'm assuming it's comic relief? No telly but enjoying these red nose smileys anyway!

DP's making banana cake Hope you're all having good fridays.

monkeysmama · 13/03/2009 21:52

Sho meant to say earlier. Dd's didn't fall off properly until day 10 or 11 and they said that if it hadn;t fallen off then we'd have to have it taken off by the HV.

Flick - teeth is interesting. Stella still only has 2 but she is having one of those "moments" when she seems ot be learning so much and getting very tired but then waking up very excited in the early hours

Yesterday I had a very proud mummy moment. She shouted "mamma" and when I turned to look at her (I was wrapping her daddy's birthday presents) she was standing up unaided and as soon as I looked at her she started smiling and clapping! She's so fantastic.

Anyone else found the Comic Relief stuff hard to watch? I've cried a fair bit but it also makes me so angry. Without being overtly political, the way I've worked it out, that ex-RBS man's pension would fund almost 100,000 mosquito nets....

Baiyu - I am so with you. Dd drags my top up all night for food (she goes into her bed for a few hours but comes in with us about 11 still), is up lots of times etc etc. It's hard but as lots of people have said to me - this too will pass. It doesn't make it easier really, and I hate the days when I am so tired I shout at her, but I hope knowing you'renot the only one makes it a bit better (it does for me). When you're up just think of us two - monkey mama and monkey baby - in London up too!

Dp's birthday tomorrow then off to La Manga for a week on Sunday.

Stay well everyone.

MM

HI all,

Yes I watched Comic Relief....I always cry buckets ant anything like that, esp invloving children. I cried watching the Kilimanjaro documentary, Fearne Cotton bless her, she looked rough as hell, they all did so well. I agree with MM though, that RBS guy things gets my goat too.

Teeth Well, DD2 has been waking an hour earlier than usual for the last 2 weeks and yesterday I noticed one of her top teeth seems to be coming through, so I think it is teeth Chez Lucky. (BTW, thanks for all the birthday wishes for Luckydaddy, he was well chuffed!).

DD2 says 'Mama' now, so cute, when they wake up (they share a room), DD1 is saying 'MUUUUUMMMMMEEEEEEEE!' and DD2 says 'Mama....mama!'.....so cute!

Having a lovely few days despite DH being at work all weekend.

Hope you are all having good weekends.

LM xx

FP - really sorry you can't get a babysitter... Hope you are pleased with your 'look' though!!

Re. nappies (ohh. the glamourous lives we lead!!) - DS had 3 days of HORRIBLE nappies (Almost like liquid farts if that's not TMI which it probably is when you are all dressed up on a Saturday night) when his bottom teeth came through. And the smell . I took him to the Drs. as it was getting to the point where I was having to bath and change him everytime he filled his nap, but his bottom teeth came through (both together) and hey presto!! Back to normal!!

So maybe DD2's bottom teeth are on the way?

Why is it teeth make such an impact on nappies? I guess it's all that drool being swallowed... Poor old DS drooled more than DDog staring at a plate of sausages!!

That's got to upset a little tum!!

Yes, will def. find out as soon as they can tell me!!!The sonographer thinks it's a girl, but not sure, so will have to wait for the 20 week scan!!

No, no flutters... don't really feel PG at all (even though I now have the scan pics to PROVE it!!) haha!!

Fuzzypeach Sorry you couldn't get a babysitter, How annoying having hair and make up done and not being able to go out.

I also can't stop crying whenever I see the African children suffering. Also it gets me about the mosquito nets that they need as it won't stop them getting malaria as mosquitos don't only bite at night. It might reduce the about of malaria victims, but surely the about of years comic relief has been advocating malaria nets- all African families that need one should have one, but the rate of children/adults dying isn't coming down. Sorry for the rant!!!!!!!! Just cross.

Haribo I am fine thanks for asking. Been reading just nothing to say really. DS2 is fine and I don't have anything to moan about or mention.

Not that anyone moans or anything- ooops don't mean to offend

Sorry for no other personal replies, about to go to bed as had a night out on thursday and still haven't caught up with sleep. Felt sorry for DH as all kids were sleeping by the time I went out and an hour later DS1 had woken and was sick everywhere(new bedding, new pjs etc) It came to nothing so obviously was just from coughing.

Still not 100% sure, maybe 25th Mar. But things keep changing so probably won't be for 4 weeks anymore. So much better really.

Mitchell81 · 14/03/2009 21:16

Congrats on the crawling, DS2 is still moving around my dragging his belly and one leg on the floor. But still very fast, so maybe this is it and no need for crawling???

Haribosmummy · 14/03/2009 21:19

Hi Mitchell Glad all OK... Hope you had a nice night, even though it sounds like your DH had his hands full without you there!

I'm afraid I'm very sceptical about comic relief or anything like that. You know, it's over 20 years since Band Aid / Live Aid, and what's changed? We still do quite a bit, obviously, with the DSDs - Primarily because it's not fair on them to be anything but enthusiastic. They are trying to make a difference... I suppose, that's what we need to hold on to - maybe it would be a whole lot worse if there was no help??!

But, my dad tried to make a few compassionate trips with Africa with cargos of rice (between converting the ships from Iron Ore carriers to oil tankers) so this was in the 70s and he said that, more often than not, the rice ended up rotting at the docks, as no one could agree how it should be distributed.

Anyway, that's a whole different thread!!

Hope you sleep well, Mitchell.

Fuzzy Thats the difficult part he doesn't even know. So will be a nice surprise He will know once he starts the job as plans change daily offshore.

Haribo I also hope it does make a difference and I am sure it does, but maybe not enough That is about what your dad tried to do so many years ago.

Maybe we should head off to FB so not to clutter the thread with our ramblings

Hi guys.

just a quickie for me, looking for advice:

Has any one bought (or used) a portable high chair?

We eat out a lot and DS is very well behaved, but yesterday and today we've not been able to get a high chair, which means either DH or I sitting with DS on our lap - which is restrictive for us and for him!!

Would like to add one to my bag so I always have one to hand, IYSWIM... but have no clue which are good and which aren't!!

thanks, HM xx

Hope you have all had lovely weekends. DS was a dream yesterday but had (another!) really bad night and has a temp today. Really hoping it's teeth and NOT CP!!!

HM x

fab booster seat for HM. It says from age one but DD2 goes in it now, and DD1, nearly 3 yrs old, still goes in it.

The beauty of it is that it folds really flat and is lightweight and would attach to almost any chair.

I'm guessing cos you want one to take out with you, a booster seat would be smaller than an actual highchair. MIL has a great travel highchair, but it's as big as a normal one but folds completely flat. It would be far too big to carry around with you (even in a Haribo sized change bag ).

Haribosmummy · 15/03/2009 19:29

Thanks LM - I'll go with that one. It looks perfect.

I have this bag now - DH bought it for me... I don't think my old bag would actually fit in his car!!!!!

hahahaha (thanks! )

congratulations haribosmummy!

another one who couldn't watch the serious bits of comic relief here - the little girl calling a helpline about her alcoholic parents had me in absolute floods.

luckymummy74 · 16/03/2009 19:43

Little tip HM if you get that booster seat, a friend who recommended it to me said to open the valve and leave it overnight so that the cushion really inflates....which does work, but I realised on recently that if I just blow into the valve (like blowing up an armband) it does it in seconds!!!

When you want to deflate it, open the valve again, put booster seat on chair and kneel on it to squish all the air out.

DD has been the opposite with the nappy disasters and teeth. The nappy explosions have been worse with the top teeth (2nd top came in during last night) than the bottom, infact the bottom teeth distrupted the sleep more.

Thanks for the bellybutton feed back. Turns out that its a complete new midwife team that covers the town my sil lives in. And theres not alot of good words said about them. We think they took the bellybutton off early so they didnt need to keep visit sil. taking advantage of a young mum maybe?

Did anyone see the thing in the news yesterday about the cancer link to childrens shampoo, namely Johnsons Baby Shampoo. The tests mightv been carried out in the USA but you know people around the world will panic and stop using it. Here's a link

thefortbuilder · 17/03/2009 17:08

hi all just quickly - we don't use any johnsons products as they are too harsh for the ds's uber sensitive skin.

must admit to being a tad pfb'ish about cleaning products for them and we generally only use organic bath and shampoo stuff with not so many nasties in.

HM are you still around later this week up my way? email me with your timings as I might be able to meet up - it's a bit manic with sam's birthday on friday and his party on saturday morning (more like a chaotic outing for his older brother and all his friends...), but I may be able to escape..
