Hi - wow - hope it wasn't a fluke, but tried out the babystraightjacket "miracle swaddle blanket" last night - and best night ever! slept (in cot) from midnight until 0430, then fed until 0450 and slept again until 0700!! Heard him muttering at about 0630, but he never broke into a cry Won't count my chickens yet, but am feeling positive!

artichokes · 30/01/2009 09:43

It was lovely to meet so many of you yesterday. So nice to see so many lovely babies together.

Unfortunatley I think our day out in town unsettled DD. We left the house at 9am and sis not get home until 6.20pm (I hung out at the office afterwards and had to pick up DD1 on the way home). As a result DD2 slept most of the day as she was in the cocoon. Her feeds were also rushed. She kicked off at 6pm and didn't really settle until 11.40pm. She kept falling asleep but could not be put down. She then woke at 2.30am for a quick feed and at 5.30am for an hour, then an 7.30am for the day. This morning she has been a right grump which is unfortunate as I am alone with the two of them today. Hmmmm, me thinks it might be a long one.

Trace - good luck at the doctor't today. Don't be embarrassed, the Dr won't be.

SummerLightning · 30/01/2009 10:03

arti my ds was similar a total pest all last evening. Not too bad overnight similar too you but that is normal for him.
I just tried to get him to smile at me and he puked in my face.
Trace good luck at the doctor's.

SummerLightning · 30/01/2009 10:08

I should add I meant similar to not too. Don't want to get in trouble with trace!

jumpjockey · 30/01/2009 10:19

we had a bit of a night as well, all the excitement must have been too much for our nippers! Had some mates round and I took her up at about 9 to settle her down once and for all, ended up falling asleep next to her til 11

Pics of the meet up on my profile page, if anyone wants any taken down just let me know. Lovely to meet so many people and their gorgeous babies!

kayzr · 30/01/2009 10:30

I feel really annoyed with myself. We had worked out a way for me to go to Crufts. I was getting a 16-25 railcard so the train was cheap and my Mum was paying for the train. I only had to pay for the railcard and admission. Its only £37 but I can't justify doing it. I am really upset about it as I thought I was going.

Someone slap me.

waitinggirl · 30/01/2009 10:49

kmp miracle blanket works for us. we also bought an album of white noise/rainfall off itunes.

JamInMyWellies · 30/01/2009 10:58

sounds like you all had a lovely time yesterday. KMP great pics.

Bit of a rubbish night here aswell. DF @ 10.30 straight back down but he woke at 2 then fed for 10 mins and tok an hour to re-settle then awake for the day at 4.30. I am cream crackered.

We are all full of cold again.

Verso an trace you will have tti ignore my ignotance concerning spell grammer etc. Am completely pants at it all. Also my laptop has half the letters on the keyboard rubbed off.

Omg!! My friend has just rang me. She is PG!!!!!!!!
Her DD is only 4 months old, she is in a real panic now. They used the withdrawl method[should be a DOH smiley] as they had run out of condoms. They honestly thought they would be ok.

She was laughing and crying at the same time bless her.

Verso · 30/01/2009 13:22

OMG kayz that's incredible! Your poor friend!!

jam I don't get pedantic online, honest! I don't think it's fair or polite - but offline, ooh I'm a menace .

About to head off to a playdate for DD1, which is lovely, but a bit of a faff as I haven't been to the house before and have just realised it's MILES away! Doh!

Verso · 30/01/2009 13:23

btw who said their appetite was weird? Mine still is...

traceface · 30/01/2009 13:30

I am guilty of as many grammatical/ spelling errors as anyone else - I just prickle when it's an 'official' thing - please don't think I'm an ogre with a red pen!!!

Kayz - can't believe that about your friend!!!

Verso - it's me with the odd appetite - it does seem very much related to my mood and tiredness - had perked up last week and I put some weight on but been feeling lower for a few days so am struggling to find anything I fancy again.
Just spoke to my CPN again and she's going to talk to the consultant about increasing my dose again.. Why can't I just do this like normal people do?

kmp- love your pics. very precious xxx

daisy - hope the funeral goes ok. will be thinking of you [hug]

well I liked the meet-up pictures although I feel a bit freaked out because I had mental images of people in my head and now it's all confused because you don't look like you do in my head!!!

3 hours till GP... have been looking at google images of piles to see if mine look more shocking.

kayzr · 30/01/2009 13:36

I'm even more jealous now. Great meet up pictures.

JollyBear · 30/01/2009 13:46

Don't worry Trace, I'm sure your GP has seen worse things over the years. Try not to be too embarrassed. Good luck!

It was lovely to see so many of you yesterday and put more faces to names! And those of you who didn't make it were there in spirit I'm sure.

Well....please don't hurl rotten tomatoes at me as I am sure it was a fluke but last night Heidi settled at around 10.15 and then DIDN'T WAKE TIL 4am!!! I couldn't believe it. She'd had a bit of a grump earlier in the evening but my lovely lovely sister was round and jigged her about and made weird cat noises at her (don't ask...it just seemed to work!) whilst I bathed DS and got him to bed. DH had gone to his friends for a few hours but she stepped into the breech.
DH is out again tonight and will be useless tomorrow. I can't wait for all these jollies to end..although Friday night will then revert to poker night again I'm sure. At least after poker he doesn't have a hangover.

Washing machine man is coming on Tuesday 'sometime between 8am and 6pm'. Great! Can't wait to be entertaining the pair of them all day!

Good luck with the piles Trace!

Nolda · 30/01/2009 17:32

Just want to say how nice it was to meet so many lovely mums and babies yesterday. Well done on choosing such an excellent venue Turniphead and thanks for posting the photos JJ.

I've been trying out my new accessory for my Baby Bjorn Carrier today. I bought a cover online (which was supposed to arrive in time for yesterday's trip in case of bad weather) which is wind and rain resistant and nice and cosy. A bit pricey if you aren't going to use it lots but very easy to use. Eddie recommends.

jumpjockey · 30/01/2009 17:42

daisy hope your afternoon wasn't too sad and your DH has lots of happy memories of his uncle.

nolda - sorry about my photo blunder, renamed Eddie after my nephew Ollie (another little cutie )

Like Oli am also wondering what's happened to my baby - I managed to get her to sleep in the pushchair not once but twice today! Went for a wander around a museum to keep her in motion, she got a bit grizzly so slung her, she dropped off, and was put back into not only the pushchair straps but also a pramsuit without waking up! I'm wondering when I took my eyes off her and she got swapped for this little sleepy cherub

turnip the ninety minute thing, have you seen this theory ninety minute theory it says that 90 minutes after they wake up (or 3 hours or 4.5 hours when they get older) a baby is ready to sleep again so if you catch them in their 'window' and put them down for a nap they'll go off really easily. Something to do with natural rhythms or summat. Looking back over the last few days (perhaps yesterday excepted) it seems to be true for dd. Not so much a routine as what she wants - which is really helpful for me to work out when she's likely to need to be put in the sling and amenable to dropping off. And she seems to go really quite quickly if I catch her at the right time.

kayz yikes for your friend! that's a bit of a shocker...

trace hope it went ok at the docs and you're sitting more comfortably

Nolda · 30/01/2009 19:15

Don't worry about it JJ, so many names floating about yesterday! I'm glad your DD has had a good day today. My usually calm lad has been yelling for most of the afternoon for no reason (apparent to me anyway). Thankfully, he's quiet at the moment as he is eating.

Olipop · 30/01/2009 19:55

Trace - where are you - we want to hear about your bum!!!!!

I have both kids asleep, spaghetti cooking for me and the house is semi reasonable! I feel like wonderwoman!!! Oooh long may it last!
Spoke too soon...just heard 'mummmeeee'

Olipop · 30/01/2009 20:03

He was hungry , Heidi woke up...will I get my pasta?? What hope of eastenders...how quickly things change! That will teach me to be so smug!

kmp1 · 30/01/2009 20:04

yay - I am in a couple of meet up photos! Clearly oblivious that anyone had a camera Also just realised that I mixed up Oli with Lal in my last couple of posts after the meet up !! Sorry! it's hard remembering so many names!

Verso · 30/01/2009 20:04

The meet-up photos are fab, jj. I particularly like the fact they had cordoned off an area specially for you . Am v and Must. Try. Harder. to go to the next one!

Veggiemummy · 30/01/2009 20:16

Hey great photos JJ very jealous and also that 1st photo of your DD after the meet up photos is so cute. Where you guys cordoned off or something there is a red & White tap next to your group. Did they want to keep everyone away, were you dangerous?

Ds2 rolled over today, from his front to his back, I got so excited I must have looked quite funny because he was doing that big toothless open mouth smile giggle that babies do at me. Either that or he was just quite pleased with himself. I had my ECG, dh was home today so he watch ds2 in the cafe at the hospital while I went in. While I was in the waiting room I was quite surprised how fine I was to be away from ds2 with ds1 at this age I fretted if I was away from him. However when I left the little room I went in to have the ECG I realized how much I wanted to be back to him because I was actually still dressing myself when I was walking across the waiting area to the door. I hope the men in the waiting room didn't have really bad heart conditions because I think I gave them an eyeful!!

Veggiemummy · 30/01/2009 20:29

Kmp I did notice the funny thing very funny. I haven't seen clubland but want to I must get dh to download it.

Turnip funny you say that as that is about when I am putting ds2 down to sleep it tends to be about 90 mins after he wakes that I notice him getting a bit sleepy and he goes down quite well if I can catch him then. He's a bit more active now, interacts with his brother a bit (as much as 6 week old can) and tracks a lot more and seems to enjoy his play gym so is sleeping ok for naps but not usually more than an hour though occasionally he will have a long aftenoon nap. He is sooooooo much more settles since Cranio though.

I have a friend coming up from London tonight for the weekend very excited and have just expressed for the first time this baby, so going to go out for a coffee with her tomorrow and leave dh with the boys and he will attempt to give ds2 his firs bottle feed.

That silk dummy sounds good. So far ds2 has been fine with both the styles of dummies I've given him so I guess that means he should have a dummy (if it's wrong I don't want to be right) but I got h some from greenbaby because all natural and all that but it takes very rubbery, it doesn't seem to bother him but think from now on I will get the other ones I think they are silicone. I think you can use them for about 3 months but I'm sure we will lose them before that. He has only been using dummies for a week and I've already lost 2!
