Libra I'm in Poole so about 30 miles away from S'hampton. But travel up there regularly for shopping as both Poole and Bournemouth are crap IMO

libralady · 25/01/2009 18:53

minkus surely not

MinnieMummy · 25/01/2009 19:23

I remember now... do you think it's possible for periods to stop again after coming back if bfing has increased?? With P waking up more again, plus I've been expressing more, I'm 6 days overdue and NOT pregnant and no signs of it really. Last month was the first one since giving birth so I wouldn't expect this month to be like clockwork, but....

Isaidno · 25/01/2009 20:47

minkus and minniemummy - you need to so some tests!!

OP posts:
Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 25/01/2009 20:57

oh oh oh oh oh whats going on here tonight

minkus/minniemummy - get thee a pregnancy test tomorrow, I thought as was before Christmas as I had this weirdy period of a days bleeding then nothing beginning of October then started to feel sick when brushing my teeth, think it was one of those phantom pregnancies though

bebejones - B has been the opposite, she has always had the cassic BF runny poos, gave her lentils for the first time on Thursday and Friday and she didn't poo at all on Friday then on Saturday OMG think she had had 4 changes before 12, same again today. Don't think a little carrot and some fruit would do that much TBH, I don't give yoghurt until after 6 months either. As someone else said, start with lunch a few spoonfuls of fruit or veg, then add dinner in about 2 weeks then breakfast 2 weeks after. Nice and gradual.

Anyway best be off Lost on in a minute. Hello to everyone else, mad busy day here today had the inlaws up for a tea party for DD2's birthday tomorrow.

cass66 · 25/01/2009 21:50

Hi girls. I have just done the Davina post natal workout for the first time (have had the DVD for 4 months at least!!). it was good, not too hard, but might help, as because it's not too hard I'll probably do it a few times per week!! I did her 'power of 3' dvd a few days ago, and I couldn't do it all and couldn't walk for 3 days!!

Have put some more pix on facebook, my little boy is growing up sooo fast!!

I guess in theory your periods could stop and start if still breastfeeding. but get those tests done and get on here!!!

TJuice · 26/01/2009 09:41

my dh has lost 5 kilos in three weeks! he was complaining about being a bit porky after xmas so he started a regime of muesli for breakfast, rye bread sandwiches with peanut butter and marmite for lunch, fruit and a normal dinner. then a 15 run 4 or 5 times a week.

can't believe it! I started doing a walk/run around the lakes last night. Was actually really nice to be out, music on and doing something physical.

cass let me know how it goes with the davina dvd. Its on my wishlist on amazon.

i have my last visit from the HV today. how long do they go on for in the UK?

Poledra · 26/01/2009 10:56

Happy birthday to my DD1 (5 today) and SK's DD2 (3 today) .

disneystar · 26/01/2009 14:38

happy birthday to poledra and SK, daughters have a lovely day girls

off to do the school run now ive made blueberry muffins and scones sausage rolls and a chocolate fudge cake for the tins today, got a few more things to do tomorrow and im free from baking all week.

Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 26/01/2009 15:52

Happy birthday to my DD2 and Poledras DD1, having a lovely day, she went to nursery and had a little party then we took her to the dreaded place for lunch, then soft play and the amusements near us (big theme park).

Little B was ill last night she was sick and wouldn't settle didn't want a feed and just kept crying but she seems better today.

ponto · 26/01/2009 22:52

Quiet in here today.

Disney, your baking sounds fantastic. You put me to shame. I had intended to make an apple pie for lunch with dh's parents yesterday but didn't get as far as making pastry so we had stewed apples and ice cream for pud .

Sorry can't remember whose dh had a childcare nightmare last week, but my dh was the same yesterday evening - I had made tea for the girls and asked him to supervise while I went upstairs to put some laundry away. Within the next 10 minutes dd1 had diarrhoea and didn't quite make it to the loo in time, dd2 fell over while trying to play the recorder and cut the roof of her mouth and Bryony was sat in her high chair screaming because she had a dirty nappy! I took pity on him and helped out with Bryony and dd2, leaving him to deal with dd1's pooey pants.

SK glad your dd2 had a good day, hope Bethany isn't sick again. Happy birthday to poledra's dd1 too.

Bryony is rolling with a vengeance now, I put her on the carpet in the middle of the living room while I went into the kitchen and dd1 came out to tell me that she had got hold of the bowl of nuts by the fireplace (left over from Christmas). Babies always home in on the most dangerous thing in the room don't they?

Question for those who aren't doing BLW, how much food should I be giving at each meal? Bryony will happily polish off a yogurt pot sized portion of savoury followed by the same amount of fruit puree or fromage frais. I feel that's quite a lot of food so don't offer any more, but do others just keep offering until their LO stops wanting more?

cass66 · 27/01/2009 09:27

hi all. ponto, I am wondering the same about food quantities. are babies like dogs, having no satiety feeling?? I'm sure Ed would keep eating until I stopped feeding him! He has 3 ice cubes worth mixed up with milk and rice, some finger bits which also get eaten, then a yoghurt. he's now on a whole weetabix with banana in the morning. and 6 breastfeeds a day. I keep running out of food for us all, the girls are eating well now as well and hubby is training for triathelons so is carbo loading, I think I'm the only one who should cut down and eat less!!

Not sure what to do today. shouldn't go shopping again, I keep buying things I don't need! it's a bit cold and damp and drear today though, so I will probably go to the local designer outlet - warm, dry and good coffee!

I go back to work next tues!! Cass

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 27/01/2009 10:26

Agh I go back to work next Wednesday! But first we have booked a 2 night break at Moonfleet Manor which I am muchly looking forward to, the reviews haven't been great but the area the hotel is in is beautiful so I am just crossing my fingers for sunshine so we can go for walks.

Happy Belated Birthday to SK DD2 and Poldedras DD1 but what is the dreaded place?

Also very impressed with all this baking, I cleaned out my cupboards last week and keep meaning to bake something with all the flour, sultanas, cherries etc that go out of date this month but haven't actually done anything yet.

TJuice - actual home visits by the HV last 10 days I think, after that if they think you are ok then you have to go and visit them at the health clinic if you want to discuss anything or get your LO weighed. Your DH sounds very focused!!

LL - my DH worked in Poole and Bournemouth for a while at the hospitals so I have been there, I used to love walking along Bournemouth beach with a 99 . Does anyone here rememeber ice-cream oysters? My DH always says I am making them up.

I hope those taking pregnancy tests get the outcome they want!

mama2leah · 27/01/2009 10:29

hey guys

leah has gone nuts, for the past month she is wakin up 2-3-4 times for a feed...i dunno wat to do im so exhausted being pregnant..i need sleep...also her naps are horrible, she doesnt nap for long..how cn i improve tings?

i need a routine! dunoo where to start.

Poledra · 27/01/2009 10:48

No time to post properly, but I remember ice-cream oysters, Libra, you are so not making it up .

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 27/01/2009 10:54

Do you have any routine in place at the moment? I would start with a bedtime routine and go from there. The one we use that works for us
6pm - bath and dress for bed
6:15pm - put in grobag and b/f in dark nursery for approx 45 minutes (he doesn't actually take that long anymore but he it settles him for bed so I let him linger)
7pm - put in cot, leave room.
10:30pm - wake up and give either f/f or breastfeed.

My LO then wakes up about 3am for another feed and then 6:30-7am for morning feed.

I know there is no need to bath everynight but it is good baby/daddy bonding time during the week and it starts to wind him down from the day (baby and daddy!)

As for sleeps during day, well we can't get A to nap in his cot without WW3 breaking out so we put him in his pushchair and cover it so it's dark and then just push him back and forth to send him to sleep (yes I know rod for back) we aim for an 1 hour in the morning and and hour in the afternoon we try to do this every 3-4 hours during the day or when he starts to get crotchety.

Hope this helps a little, your LO probably has his own routine you just need to recognise it, can you write down feed times, when your LO looks tired etc for 3-4 days and you will probably see a pattern.

minipinkscottish · 27/01/2009 11:29

Hi all!! Happy belated birthdays to the girls xx sk sorry to hear B has been sick - hope she is better now. Abbie is all snuffly again and not sleeping well but it's the teeth I think

Looks like I'm not alone in going back to work next week How you feel libra and cass? I am dreading it....would love to be a stay at home mum .....sigh...but needs must....

minipinkscottish · 27/01/2009 11:29

Oh and any more pg results? Minkus minnimummy?

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 27/01/2009 11:36

mini - I am quite looking forward to it, I am only going back 3 days a week and it's not that taxing. Looking forward to having lunch breaks by myself!

disneystar · 27/01/2009 12:09

libra with the baking i always make my own biscuits and cookies cakes pies etc.....
i like to know what the children are eating of course i cant be to strict with this as we have hospital trips etc.....
but we grow our own veg and fruit so theres always plenty to bake except this time of year when its harder, but we have loads of staples left.,i guess im an anti supermarket kinda girl
and the oysters yep remember them too and you can buy them now dont quote me till i check but im pretty sure my dd got some in farm foods all you do is defrost....totally yummy.
samuel doing well i still worry about him constantly and my hair is falling out badly, ive been to the gp and he said its alopecia due to stress and the more i worry the worse it will get,
ive had my hair cut with a fringe put in to try to hide it,
TBH i dont care my hair is the least of things
we have a date for his car scan now 16th march and stay the night in oxford then get the news next morning
im supposed to be getting his passport and re newing the dc,anyone know how long it takes to re-new?
i just cant focus my heads in a muddle all the time.
i love my dh to bits but dont want him near me,its like ive switched of to everyone apart from sam and the boys

TJuice · 27/01/2009 13:09

hey ladies

disney - sounds like you have a ton of stuff on at the moment. i would get a headstart on the passport renewal - you can get it done quick but it will cost you more. its expensive anyway!

must be hard for your relationship when you have so much to do. my dh and i had a big sort out of relationship stuff last weekend. i had actually turned into a right nag, regarding household stuff and of course, he was resentful and unwilling. but we are still fairly 'newly-wed' and i hate being in that role of being project-leader of running the household, know what i mean? so we sorted out all the tasks, cleaning, shopping, recycling, bill-paying, laundry - every little thing and decided on who will do it when. really helped to get it all out there, even though it was petty stuff.

can't imagine what it must be like with so many kids - trying to get couple time.

re. hairloss. i got really stressed at work a few years ago. i didn't really 'feel' it on a day to day basis but it manifested itself as a massive hairloss 3 months later. it did bother me as there was a thin patch at the front so i saw a dermatologist who gave me steroid injections and i applied this cream. but what i think helped was these Solgar vitamins for hair, skin and nails. I took two of them daily and B-vits too. And the dermatologist also made me get Rogaine! It triggered off the regrowth and I could actually see the little hairs growing in quickly afterwards.

not so much of a baker myself but still enjoy cooking. last night, one DH health kick, i did teriyaki grilled salmon with sesame spinach and brown rice. Also made a thick soup recently with celeriac, parsnip and carrot, blended with cheddar and cream and a bit of harissa. Yum.

Had a nursery nightmare yesterday when i found out that the two that i had reserved places on had merged and were not accepting kids until next year. so stressed! there is a huge waiting list for all places here (they have an application system similar to the university one, so i would have to get when of the "clearing" nurseries which could be anywhere). Luckily, i got a call this morning offering me a place at a nearby one from April, which is when i go back to work. Haven't seen it yet but know its a big institution. I did want a small cosy place but you know, will check it out and see for myself. Can't be too picky right now.

MinnieMummy · 27/01/2009 13:20

Belated happy birthdays for yesterday!

NOT pregnant here - told you so!! - had a split second of 'booo' and then 5 minutes of 'phewwwww!'. So it must be the extra BF as still no period - I suppose it follows that if fertility increases when you drop a feed, that it decreases when you feed more??

Disney you probably don't have time on top of everything else but if you create a 'just giving' page for your sponsored run (if you're still doing it) then I'll sponsor you, that way the charity can claim gift aid back etc.

Are you taking Samuel to the JR for his scan? It's got an excellent reputation for being the leading paeds hopsital for a long way and the new children's unit is supposedly very good.

Am mildly annoyed here - DH did write the car off and then despite me saying 'do NOT accept the first offer from the insurance company' and him saying 'what do you think I am, stupid' what does he do??!!!! So am a bit annoyed that we could have got more money (although we did get what we paid for it, but we're down the excess) and then last night my brother phones up and says he has a Citroen Xsara but DH 'doesn't like it' so we're not getting it, which means I have to keep driving the crappy loaner until he does decide he likes something!!! Grrrrrrr!!!

bebejones · 27/01/2009 14:09

Ponto & Cass66, re: feeding, Phoebe will only eat about 2 cubes worth of food at a push, and she shuts her mouth & pushes the spoon away when she doesn't want more, although she will then polish off a 6oz feed afterwards! She will have a good suck at a rice cake from time to time, but thats it! We are currently only on lunch & dinner feeds, but she has never been a brilliant feeder & one day she will drain all her bottles so you step it up the next day & she will hardly touch them! So like you guys I am perplexed about how much they 'should' be eating, although I guess every baby is different!

Don't know what to do about work, my company have said I am being paid mat pay til March (perk of FIL being the chairman I guess) but at the moment I still cannot drive so wouldn't be able to work either. Doctor has said he would sign me off sick but SSP is even crapper than SMP, think its abou £75 a week! Even if I go back to work part time we can't afford childcare & all my earnings would pay for that. If I'm not essentially bringing money in (coz it's paying childcare) surely it's better for me to just stay with Phoebe? Trouble is we need the extra income, DH has not been paid properly in months (he works in finance) but we don't qualify for any tax credits as our 'income' is too high!!!! Never mind the fact that my mum has been bailing us out for months! I just don't know what to do! Bloody credit crunch, it's all so frustrating! I need a part-time job in evenings and weekend so DH can look after P, but can't do that til Mat pay ends & my job wouldn't offer those hours anyway as it is office based! Don't even think Tesco are hiring & anywhere else retail based is too far & I would have to drive which defeats the object!! now my head hurts I'm off to mash a banana for P...I would turn to drink, but I can't afford it!!

disneystar · 27/01/2009 14:24

sweetkitty · 27/01/2009 20:46

Evening ladies I have had a horrendous day, DD2 was an utter handful, just arguing with everything, she didn't want to leave nursery today so had a mega tantrum, another Mum actually had to carry her out for me as I had B in the car seat and DD1, felt like crap Mum of the Year. On the plus side though I did get a head and neck massage at toddler today, utter bliss but apparently I have a lot of tension especially on my left (baby carrying) side.

I honestly do not know what to do about Bethany's sleeping especially daytime naps, so she was up at 7 today, fell asleep in the car seat at 11.15am but as soon as I put her in the cot indoors she woke up, so 20 mins max, she had a feed at 3ish and was sleeping and feeding but then woke up so about 10 mins max so of course come 7pm she is over tired screaming the place donw until I take her upstairs and feed her to sleep. Daytimes she will only now fall asleep in the car or in the pram, I have tried leaving her in the car seat (indoors) but that doesn't work. I think it may be too nosiy for her to sleep downstairs, upstairs we have the bedside cot but I don't think she would go to sleep from awake without a feed and I cannot lie down with her for 20 mins during the day, argh, you would think I would get it right by the third one.

disney - like someone said set up a just giving page it's really easy and you get gift aid too which means more money for your charity, once you have set it up send me the link and I will sponsor you on ONE condition you sponsor DP he is doing the London marathon for Children with Leukaemia and needs to raise £1000 and RBS will double it. I will be sending the link to all of you on FB nearer the time too Poor wee Sam he has challenging times ahead am sure he will have the strength to get through it though, that wee boy sure is one fighter.

bebejones - the old working mum childcare issue it's not easy is it? what about condensed hours? or even DH working p/t and you working f/t? Have you looked at all the childcare options often a childminder is the cheapest option and a lot of people like the intimacy of their baby being in someone elses home rather than a nursery, just another option for you? I guess you both have to sit down and talk through all the options. Was it you whose DH forgot to post the CB forms too? I would kill mine, well actually I wouldn't as I wouldn't trust him to do it in the first place lol

minniemummy - so now where you are with the aww not pregnant and phew not pregnant, sometimes I wish I could have a little "accident" and fate would decide for us.

Tjuice - hope you can find a nursery you are happy with too

Food quantities - Bethany is becoming a little piglet too, today she has had - lunch potato and leek puree, some of my toast and cheese crusts and some pear, dinner lentil, parsip and carrot puree, pot of fruit puree and carrot sticks, she is getting so good at feeding herself but gets cross if I don't feed her fast enough she is wolfing the purees down, I know when she has had enough as she won't bring her head forward and open her mouth. I am BFing her 7am, 10.30am, 2pm, 4.30pm and 7.30pm too oh and about 3 times in the night
