I also have unopened moving boxes in my loft as well......

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 19/01/2009 20:59

Not sure I do believe, but I did feel thar if she was poorly but no cause could be found, then I would consider it. I guess it's a maternal thing

RIAchforthestars · 19/01/2009 21:00

I thought your birthday was near mine bumper.

it's cold. have just got the DCs to sleep and now I have to start tidying after tea I am really with you both jammy & natty on mess=depression. If I could get on top of things I would feel so much better, but as there's only me here often enough to care, it's down to me. There's no way DH would have his work kitchen like any of our house is. The pile of clean laundry he was going to put away before xmas is still there. We get our new bed on Friday, so I think I will have a rule about bedroom tidyness Do you think that cat stuff would work on me???

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 19/01/2009 21:07

I've got Million Dollar traders on, is it good?

Yeah daisy, it's the home of the old Government Code and Cypher School where they broke the enigma. Our guide was a Wren there for a few months during the war. She was a very mischievious 84 year old, with a good sense of humour but obviously old school 'well-to-do'.Sounds very cool, but of course they has no idea of the big picture though, they just worked in a room and NEVER spoke abouttheir work to anyone for years and years. Such an exciting history.

Norty, hope the cramps go. It'll all be ok

So, masterchef was a bit shit wasn't it?

LackaDAISYcal · 19/01/2009 21:31

norty, I hope you're OK. You'll still get your CS if you go into labour before your elective date, but will have to wait if there are any emergencies in theatre.

It'll be fine though, lovely and we're here for you if you're scared

Need to take DS1 there; he is getting quite interested in the wars and stuff.

RIAchforthestars · 19/01/2009 21:41

go to a wartime weekend with him daisy, they're fab. The one at Ingleton is good apparently (we are never there at the right time) will that be about an hour and a half from you? It's in June I think.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/01/2009 21:45

I'll keep an eye out for that Ria. And yes, it's about an hour and a half.

LittleMissNorty · 19/01/2009 22:21

MMMmmm cramps worn off now thank god....just makes you realise how close things are...

Million dollar traders is great stuff....bit like the apprentice

right off to bed to try and get some sleep for once....

night all x

RIAchforthestars · 19/01/2009 22:43

glad your cramps are gone Norty, hope you get some sleep tonight

woo-hoo, the man on the OU recording just said I would make a good scientist cos I'm sceptical about everything (I think that's what he said - no offence to jammy & norty btw). quite enjoyed the debate about grouse moors. I lead such an exciting life

justbeme · 19/01/2009 22:44

Hi everyone -
Have been lurking on and off, but never enought time to post.
Its getting very near now Norty!!! Good Luck!
I cant believe it was a year ago I wished Bumper Happy unbirthday!! Where has the time gone?

Have got a spotty faced Lo, been to the Dr again today as she's had it since before Xmas - have now got piriton and will be referred to a Dermatologist to investigate. also got Canestan as she may have a fungal prob in her nappy area!!
She's been waking up in the nights and also not going to sleep without a major fight recently so I feel worn out. God know how I would have coped if my "baby" had just been born! On my "due date" recently she cried for 4 hours in the middle of the night. Its funny how things work out....

Hope everyone is ok and that the crunch isnt affecting work too much. My DP has gone back to work - he's only had 3 days work since before Xmas. We got on surprisingly well in that time and I miss my lie ins!!

RIAchforthestars · 19/01/2009 22:54

jbm. good to see you though. Poor LO, rashes are no fun. I know what you mean about missing a lie-in. I wish DH would hurry up and get in tonight or I'll be asleep again when he gets home.

I have a headache from all that thinking.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/01/2009 22:54

Hi jbm we've been wondering where you were.

sorry to hear about LO's skin problems and I hope it gets sorted soon. Are you still using real nappies? If so, maybe stripping them of detergent build up will help with the nappy rash?

I hope you are doing OK; due dates and anniversaries are hard {{{{hugs}}}}

for stripping soak them overnight in a bucket with 500ml(I think) vinegar added, then wash at the hottest they will take with a normal dose of biological powder and then do successive rinse cycles until there are no more bubbles.

morning all.....another 8 hour stretch here last night; for bumble at least. I didn't go to bed until half twelve!!

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 20/01/2009 10:01

....my longest stretch was 2 hours....and I don't even have a baby yet!!

JBM...nice to see you.....and {{{hugs}}} for you, those days must be very difficult.

I'm using canestan on DDs bum as well atm....works a treat......

right, me and DD are off back to bed.....

Sputnik · 20/01/2009 10:41

Hi JBM, nice to see you
Hope your DD sorts herself out soon.

Norty, personally I slept better once the baby was born than I did when pg. The last weeks are awful, arent they, hang in there.

FrazzledFairyFay · 20/01/2009 11:02

for you Norty, hope you managed to get a decent nap

LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 11:05

DD has got a really spotty bum this morning. It's not red and inflamed like nappy rash....just spotty. There are a few outwith the nappy area as well. No temperature or anything; just spotty.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 11:07

norty, i hope you get some sleep.

btw, do you get childcare vouchers? If so, new legislation means that your employer must keep providing them for you during your maternity leave. I think beause they are seen as a contractual benefit. It only came into effect for babies born after October, so there is still a lot of confusion about it in HR departments.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 11:10

hi sputnik and fairy as well

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 20/01/2009 12:38

Had an hour thanks ladies and feeling a bit more human....

Daisy...I heard about that yesterday funnily enough and will be ringing my payroll department when I'm here on my own tomorrow.

Something to do with the sex discrimination act and that I am not allowed to use the "benefit" of SMP to sacrifice to buy childcare vouchers so my employers should fund them for me....this only applies to weeks 27-39 (still worth over £700) for me as I have my SMP topped up prior to that, but nevertheless......BUT it looks like Busybees gave me b ad advice and may have invalidated my claim, so my fight may be with them!!! If anyone wants the document (?Fury??), let me know and I'll e-mail it.

Perahaps spotty "mary's" are doing the travels around the UK....cos that is exactly what DD has as well

RIAchforthestars · 20/01/2009 13:28

just checking in before I go to my friends. (I am dreading it a little, we've hardly spoken in the street for a year)

I went and asked a pharmacist about my rash/spots (still only arms, chest, tummy) and he said it wasn't there. Am feeling off colour so stocked up on evening primrose & vitamin tablets and starflower oil capsules. Let's just hope it's short term side effect of sticking to my diet

need to do laundry and tidy up a bit before I go out, as I think DH is cross with me anyway as I went to bed as soon as he got in at 1am, and obviously didn't read his mind of all the thinks he wanted to tell me, and he laughed at me cos I asked him how to make fish finger pie

LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 14:08

Norty, there was someone on my Nov thread that had issues with busybees over this as well. Sounds like they were giving out the wrong advice willy nilly. There was a thread about it all last year; I'll see if I can dig out a link for you.

glad you feel better after your snooze.

wtf Ria....is he saying you're imagining it? Maybe he thinks your default skin condition is spotty

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 20/01/2009 15:24

Oh I'd be very interested in that Daisy.....thanks. Already had a huge row with busybees this year cos they forgot to give me a voucher and I had double the amount (£486!!) come out of my Xmas December salary! So I'm right up for another argument with them.

Well, we've been to the local park - bloody cold and a bit wet, but hey ho....at least we got out of the house....

Hope you got on ok with your friend Ria....have you changed your washing powder or something....it sounds a bit suspect you have a rash on your arms, chest and tummy. I once got a rash over my legs, but not my bum, and the dermatologist put it down to an allergy to something in my ribbed tights ( shows you how long ago that was)....but I am very sensitive to new clothes that haven't been washed, or if someone else has washed them. Cold cream is a good one for allergic rash as well....

Blimey....second baby has been born on our Feb thread!

TALLULAHBELLE · 20/01/2009 15:39

Hi - just popping in to let you know we're all doing fine. No hope of catching up on the thread. Have I missed anything important? Norty still here, I see. Not long now Missus. Popped a couple of photos on F/B, but not got round to putting them on MN profile yet. Babies very contented wee souls, usually. Not today though, today they are STARVING & my boobs are taking a battering. DD1 is great with them. She can say their names but gets them mixed up so just calls them both 'sister' which is really cute. Gives them lots of kisses & cuddles & is very gentle. Am relieved as in the hosp, she pointed at DT1 in my arms, demanded 'have it' & proceeded to tantrum when said infant was not handed over for her to play with. Anyway, hope all well with everyone. Will try & get some MN time soon.

TALLULAHBELLE · 20/01/2009 15:44

Oh & meant to ask Daisy about the buggy trial. Anything to recommend & do you know yet if you are keeping/ selling any? I thought I would get away with DTs sharing the Loola carrycot for first month or two. But then I thought I would have a couple of 5 lb babes. They are both around 7 lb already so only one fits in the pram & we are snookered for getting out en masse. Saw a Jane Powertwin for sale 2nd hand, 200 quid - any thoughts? Still really fancy the Nipper though.
