Would just like to spend a night in the same bed as DH as we haven't since 27th December

spongebrainbigpants · 07/01/2009 17:49

poppy, lol at chav food - what's that?!

going, hmm, I noticed him eying up the stairs - time for a gate soon!

Essie, I think puree fed babies probably have a more varied diet than BLW babies tbh as it's harder to think of things they can eat with their hands!

As for the sleep, we've had a couple of nights recently where A has been wide awake in the early hours. No idea why. In terms of clothes, that sounds like a lot to me and I know A wouldn't tolerate it, but all babies are different. How warm is it in his nursery?

poppy34 · 07/01/2009 17:52

5gomad does she have a nightlight/special toy that could "protect"her? and agree that santa could be quite scary so don't think you're daft essie. I was terrified of witches after halloween at school and convinced they lived in the alcove under stairs on way to bathroom so always used to run to bathroom and shut door/run back up stairs (which caused a few trips..).

sponge chav food is anything in a tin but esp heinz..today it was hipp organic so that is posh chav but all the same my earth mother dreams vanish as reality comes adn bites me on the bum...

poppy34 · 07/01/2009 18:09

and ok I'm getting no real movement but must my daughter make noises like she is on world of sport wrestling back in the 70s...

pureeandpearls · 07/01/2009 18:15

Really quick as off to do bath....

Awesome vid Sponge- I caught babypearls' first crawling on video so will have to work out how to upload to youtube.

Essie- part-time quilter is a more accurate description. Would like to spend more time doing it than I currently allow. Asking for a quilting room next Christmas

Havin a shit day. Everything going wrong. Had to throw away all the babygoo I made- smelled and tasted of fag ash. Can't get rid of the smell from the kitchen now....bugger.

spongebrainbigpants · 07/01/2009 18:27

P&P, youtube is dead easy to use - just register and then press upload!

Sorry you're having a crap day .

Lol at the noises poppy!

hedgehog1979 · 07/01/2009 18:30

evening all,

Food - Isaac has whatever we are having, black bean chicken last night, with rice. Has also had chilli, turkey curry, trifle, christmas dinner, tonight we are having meatball casserole and roasties. Also has toast, breadsticks, rice cakes, banana, sticky toffee pudding, ice cream.....

Signed contracts with CM today which makes it all final that I have to go back to work (ft too). When we left one of her children cried because we were taking Isaac and asked if he could stay for longer . Think he will be fine there then.

On the movement front we have backwards shuffling when on tummy and attempts at bum shuffling when sitting on the floor between legs.

When I go back to work there will be no internet access other than BBC website and financial websites.

Sorry that sounds a bit egocentric am just annoyed with DH as he has been off work today but it is his DAY off again so he cannot do anything (and is moaning about the kitchen yet again)

OP posts:
spongebrainbigpants · 07/01/2009 19:41

HH, I didn't know you were going back ft too ? I really am going to be lunching alone aren't I?

Sorry your dh is not helping out - that sucks. Hope it changes when you're working ft too.

Btw, I am seriously impressed at the range of food that Isaac is eating! Does he do all that with his hands, or is some of it loaded spoon?

bitofadramaqueen · 07/01/2009 19:53

sponge great vid! S has really mastered the art of rolling over the last day or two. He's managing to roll both ways and can also go from tummy to back, and he's very pleased with himself about it I think! He's desperately trying to push himself up to a sitting position for his next trick..

ali great list, thanks, have made a note as keen to introduce finger foods asap.

Poppy - its a bit early for eating disorders (btw, I really really hope no-one finds that offensive)

Sorry you're having a bad day puree

Amberc · 07/01/2009 20:00

OMG Sponge - Alex is adorable! He can really go some with that commando style crawling! Sometimes I know people exaggerate at what theit LOs are doing but you certainly weren't! Luke can't do any kind of crawling yet although he does get into the on all fours position but doesn't know what to do next. He is desperate to move though bless him. We have wooden floors - I wonder if he'll hurt his knees. I have seen on the internet little knee protectors - or is that ridiculous?

I am looking forward to experiencing the BLW babies at the next London meet up next week as I have only experienced Luke munching bread and 99.9% of it falling out of his mouth. He's happy to stick it in his gob but has no idea what to do if a piece comes off! He isn't really taking to purees either but is eating more each time. Didn't like Shepherd's Pie puree tonight. I did though - yum! Thank God those pots are so small as I keep eating the leftovers! Is there such a thing as a chocolate baby food? I'm sure he'd eat that no problem!

pureeandpearls · 07/01/2009 20:04

Sponge- I'll lunch with you!!

Thanks for your sympathies all- pathetic really, but DH home now so I'm off to bed. Will start again tomorrow.

pleasechange · 07/01/2009 20:17

Love the video sponge! amber I'm always finishing A's leftovers as well. Good job it's mostly fruit and veg so far! A sometimes really wants to eat and other times isn't interested. He wasn't keen on the salmon tonight or veg, but ate all his potato - he really is a carb boy! Shame it doesn't help him sleep though

puree hope the sleep makes you feel better

Went to local shopping centre today - took 15 mins to park as it was so busy, then realised I'd forgotten the changing bag with everything incl. my purse in it . Was annoyed as I had some vouchers to spend in JL and was looking forward to buying myself something for once!

poppy34 · 07/01/2009 20:21

bdq I know (and again hope no one finds it offensive )- more demo of the daily battle that I lose in weaning ... dh just laughed about my hopes of homemade food and said in his experience all his dc liked prepared stuff better... so maybe its his fault
puree hope you feel better.

hh glad cm is ok -really must have eased your mind a bit..and sponge will still be around even when I'm back at work to make odd meet up

needahand · 07/01/2009 21:03

oh my god sponge that video is so sweet! Can't believe this. SJ is nowhere near that!! Alex is sooooo cute

neenztwinz · 07/01/2009 21:36

Love the vid sponge, interesting that A doesn't need to put much weight on his arms cos DTs seem to be getting their legs underneath them well but seem nowhere near able to hold any weight on their arms iyswim. So i thought they might be a way off crawling but maybe not. They love to stand up now and seem very strong on their legs.

Been at my mum's all day which has been lovely. Had a lovely nap on the sofa for an hour this aft while she watched the DTs . Don't know why I am so tired, got another nine-hour stretch of sleep last night (I think being tired is my punishment for being so smug about DTs sleeping through )

josey · 07/01/2009 21:39

Juat thought I would say hello on here.

Oli got her first special needs tumble form chair today she loves it though unfortunately it is blue

She had first physio ses today and her belly started spouting blood, she has lost the ability to lift her head when on her tummy, we are hoping its a combo of the op and her trying to lift her bum and not regression.

My neighbour is about to get a right hook from me, she keeps panicing there is something wrong with her baby, for example last night she phoned hyperventlating over fkn cradlecap, GFYS!!!! I wouldnt mind so much but its her 3rd kid, today was I told you my baby had a funny shaped head, its ok though its head pref and should change, so she is happy her dd has something.....was i mean in saying a friend of mines baby has a funny head and needs her skull plated removed and replaced(true by the way)to make her head the right shape.

Anyhoo love to you all as ever Im up my own ass and not read xxx

neenztwinz · 07/01/2009 21:50

LOL Josey . No, YANBU about your neighbour! Some people are just so insensitive! Hope Oli starts to progress again soon. She has done so well so far so hopefully it is not regression.

spongebrainbigpants · 07/01/2009 21:59

Thanks for all the sweet comments about vid - dh has just been watching it on line as he's away this week which has made me quite emotional (I know alot of your dhs go away a lot more than mine but still makes me sad when he misses big things in A's life ).

Amber, no, don't think knee protectors are daft at all! I'm a bit worried about A's left arm actually - he's got horrendous carpet burn on it from where he drags himself on it. Don't know what to do about it - any suggestions?

IKWYM about finishing baby leftovers - I'm back on LL now though so can't eat anything! It's testing my will power to the limit!

P&P and poppy - hurrah that I will still have some lunch buddies!

josey, can't believe your neighbour , is she for real?

josey · 07/01/2009 22:20

Chuckle glad its not just me.

Conversation yday, sorry to phone you at this time (almost in tears) (5pm) can I put olive oil on x's head(i wish there was an emotcon for the face I pulled) I said no use grape seed oil its safer blah blah. anyhoo she then said huf well I bought cradlecap shampoo today so might use that and Im seeing the HV tomorrow so will ask her so as I burn my kids beans and fish fingers(just kidding) the point of the phoned call was nothing......I did say to DH the only thing wrong with that little girl is she is possibly the uglyest baby ever(and thats not being mean, some babies are)

Ok rant over with stupid neighbour

DebInAustria · 07/01/2009 22:37

Just a quickie to Sponge - Alex is adorable, I love the video.

hedgehog1979 · 07/01/2009 22:43

SBBP all finger food, as the last time I tried to give him calpol on the spoon he wanted to do it himself and I ended up having to rebath and change him as it went all over him.
Also not happy about going back FT, but work will not entertain PT for me. Have been applying for loads of council admin jobs recently as I feel more confident when asked about sickness in the last year (none other than preg related, whereas before ML it would have been 6 months due to a nervous breakdown).

DH has watched your video and has made Isaac watch it to learn, although when you hold him on his legs, he will move his feet and walk.

josey LOL at your neighbour. Hope Oli is doing better now.

neenz when Isaac started sleeping through til 7am I used to feel more tired during the day, and had to have a nap so I know where you are coming from.

Ok going to bed now, as DH is off again tomorrow grrrrr

Essie3 · 07/01/2009 22:50

ROFL at the ugly baby, Josey!! My cousin's baby was no oil painting. She's a lovely happy child, just not very pretty. No hair, sticking out ears, and a flathead. (Is that the strange shaped head thing your friend has? It's a true problem, and my cousin's baby has it, but they're not doing anything about it.) Don't stop ranting, it's fun! Can you score us a photo of this baby, Josey?
Iestyn had cradle cap btw, but he's started scratching his head like Laurel and Hardy (the thin one, don't know which is which) when feeding now, so that's lifting it off!

Speaking of bitchyness, my frenemy's waters broke this morning. They will induce her if nothing has happened by Saturday. I've come home from a bible study group all about forgiveness. So I'm not posting bad bfing vibes.

Ok, a nice post from now on because everything I've said so far has been quite nasty (except the comments about my lovely son obviously). And I'm the worst Christian ever, although I was all angelic at the group.
I just watched Sponge's video, which made us laugh - he really moves! Nice babygro too.

I'm now going to rally everyone round to 5GoMad's corner - that's really miserable for you. I will pray for you tonight. (I genuinely am a Christian though and I do pray, but won't go on about it! I pray for atheists too...whether they like it or not! Sponge, you've been warned - and prayed for! )
BTW, 5GoMad the cowshed doesn't sound bad at all because my entire house is (was!) a stable. I always think that barns and cowsheds etc are ok because only animals lived there, but then again quite a lot of bad things happen in outbuildings. (Now you're all going to start asking for examples!) So I would have it blessed. And it would be a lovely thing to do anyway. Maybe you should have it blessed with DD (and the whole family) there? Might that help her?

This post is now out of control so I'll stop.

Essie3 · 07/01/2009 22:53

Oh my God, what am I on? That last post was totally mad.

neenztwinz · 08/01/2009 09:30

Essie yes you are mad . I am a (not so good ) Christian too - at my mum's yesterday I thought 'right, I am not going to slag anyone off today'. Well, I didn't have anything to say! Eventually I did think of something tho

Theo got his first tooth! I was so proud.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 09:53

Oh Happy Day - child free this morning and DD only woke up once so we are getting there.

Thank you Essie - a friend of mine had her house blessed so will have a chat with her, we do have lovley girl in our attic room she dates from the civil war I think, accordning to another friend. also to be honest I think its the shadows which are contributing aswell.
