Bit bored so thought I would start the new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just written a huge post and then had internet explorer crash - so frustrating. It wasn't that interesting though mostly thanks for Josey about the cream info and commiserations to Essie and Sponge for the stress they are under currently.

Also, I was slightly gloating that Jamie ate a quarter of a piece of toast yesterday, but then he refused to have any for lunch today so I just feel a bit deflated about that now!

pleasechange · 24/01/2009 15:20

sponge that's awful am also v for you. A couple of years ago we had several incidents in our street with cars - yobbos kicking off all the wing mirrors and breaking ariels. It's so frustrating that they will never get caught

Alexander has projectile vomitted twice today poor thing - have no idea why. Don't think I'll bother trying to give him any dinner tonight

DH is out tonight so I have the house to myself (and A of course). Have a bottle of wine and a couple of good films to watch

josey at that letter on your behalf!

ahedgehogisHibernating · 24/01/2009 16:13

sbbp sorry about your car. It sucks when that happnes. About 2 weeks after Isaac was born someone stole the glass from mine - from right outside the house

allnew poor alexander, hope he is feeling better soon

Have just had a major spending spree - techno XT, new car seat, some kitchen bits from Ikea, and 3 day packs of tots bots (15 nappies total) for £29.99 each at Toys R Us - same in Mothercare were £51. Am feeling quite chuffed and set up for the next few months.

DH and Isaac are now asleep on the sofa and I am pottering, although I should be thinking about tea etc

Amberc · 24/01/2009 19:12

Josey - unbelievable about the hospital - tossers!

Sponge - more tossers! My dad used to have problems with yobbos draining his petrol.

All those having mares with feeding/sleep (me included!) virtual love coming your way.

Feeding - had a small move forward today and Luke ate up ALL his brekkie - baby cereal with formula and greek yoghurt. He didn't want my yoghurt based pasta dish (not surprised) at lunch or supper but ate two organix rusks and 4 organix crisps (both minging). Might stop trying to make home made food 'cos he obviously prefers ready made!!

pleasechange · 24/01/2009 21:05

Quiet on here tonight!

amber it's so frustrating when you make something and they turn up their nose! A frequently does this with my food, then is happy to munch on toast/ricecakes

Alexander projectile vomitted again - spectacularly this time. I was googling it just before and the nhs direct site advised to call, so I did and am now waiting for a doctor to call back. I'm obviously hoping it's nothing, but the nurse said they're treating it as a concern because he was in ICU at birth and had pneumothorax

DebInAustria · 24/01/2009 21:37

Allnew - how is Alexander now? Have you heard back from NHS direct ?

Neenz - thanks for not telling me how long your dt's slept - that would have been cruel!

Sponge - so sorry to hear about your car, especially now with how you've been feeling. I be you'd had a really good night until that point.

Amber - glad you've had a breakthrough with the food. Doesn't matter who has made it if he eats it! I made Ethan a lovely fruity pudding today with pureed mango, dried apricot and Topfen which is a bit like Fromage frais I think. I was rather hoping he wouldn't like it and I could finish it off but no such luck.He didn't finish his cauliflower cheese but I didn't fancy that!

HH - sounds like you had a good shopping spree. I hadn't thought about the next stage car seat yet, suppose I should

5 - sorry Seb's still not eating much, Tristan was like that with food for a long time but he's fine, just always been skinny! He had some cranial osteopathy at age 5 and it made a difference you know. He now actually has favourite foods.

pleasechange · 24/01/2009 22:33

Thanks for asking debs - the Dr called back and is happy as A still wanted his last feed and kept that one down. I've just got to watch him carefully tonight and take his temp often

Amberc · 25/01/2009 07:28

Allnew - how is A today? Any better?

We have a front facing car seat now and it has revolutionised driving. Luke has not cried once in it and loves to look out of the window. Bad mother alert but we put him in it a bit early as he wasn't quite the right weight but he is now. Got a maxi Cosi Tobi and it is lovely - recommend it to anyone! It takes seconds to strap him in now as opposed to loads of screaming while we tried to attach him and get the seatbelts all right etc etc. He was just too long for the rearward facing seat and seriously - how dull is it to look at a leather seat for an hour long drive when you are 7 months old and excited by everything?

pleasechange · 25/01/2009 12:40

Thanks amber - he's much better today. Last night though when I brought him to bed with me, he'd fallen asleep on his side, facing me, and then projectile vomitted absolutely everywhere . I've never seen anything like it, but at least it was just milk. He's only had milk and toast so far today, and I don't think I'll give him any more food until tomorrow just in case it upsets his tummy. He was completely unphased by the whole thing!

Where has everyone else gone?

neenztwinz · 25/01/2009 16:01

I am here, glad Alex seems better allnew.

I have been to the hospital today to visit my gran, she had blood so thin it would take 17 times the normal time to thin so they rushed her in for fear she would have an accident and bleed to death . But her blood is better now, she is having a kidney biopsy on wed to check for cancer . She has kind of given up but she seemed a bit brighter today. I think once they lose hope it is a downward spiral. Hoping for good news Wed.

Upsidedowncake · 25/01/2009 16:16

Hello

Been lurking for a bit, and a bit busy. Well done to all of you who have been at work and are still able to post.

Josey, I always enjoy reading your posts and hearing how Oli is sticking it to everyone. Also, I'm delighted that your DH brought up the money he'd raised when talking about the rude consultant.

Allnew, glad that A is OK now. I hate it when they're ill.

Did any of you read the story about not Calpoling babies unnecessarily ...? Dorothy ets Calpol about once every two weeks, yet once a month is counted as heavy usage. When she had baby flu, Calpol was one of her major food groups.

Amber, interested that you have put Luke in a front-facing car seat. Dorothy hates her rear-facing one, and I really thought hard about putting her in a front-facing one. How much Did L weigh when you put him in it? She's only 6.5 kg now, so I don't think I can justify it quite yet.

Essie, glad that nursery is working out so much better now. And how is work going?

It really bugs me the way both DD and DS like bought food so much better than mine! I always remember C bobbing up and down with excitement as I got out the Hipp 2 jars, having pushed away my lovely crafted delights with a firm hand. And now D is going the same way. I think it must be the texture. Those things are so smooth ...

neenz, thinking of you and your grandmother

Debs, how is Ethan with food?

ahedgehogisHibernating · 25/01/2009 18:22

Evening all,

Glad everyone and their LO's is feeling better.

UDC I have had to really bite my tongue as my SIL put her DS in a front facing car seat at 4 months, because 'he cried in the car'

I am not liking having a mobile baby at the moment, we have reclining leather sofas, and Isaac can roll under the foot part if you have your legs extended. He loves to roll for the laptop cable.

Does rolling normally go this quick? He only went from back to front on wednesday and is now all over the place, both ways. Once on his tummy he will also shuffle backwards as well.

neenz sorry to hear about your gran, hope she is feeling better now. Right must go and rescue baby again.

Amberc · 25/01/2009 18:56

Neenz - I agree, when they say they have given up it's so upsetting. How old is your nan? I do hope the hospital manage to help her and it's not cancer she has.

UDC - hello! We have put Luke in the seat for the last 2 weeks. He was 19 lbs then and is now 21 lbs. Dunno what that is in new money think 8.5kgs and 9ish kgs. I do think 6.5 is a bit little as apparently if there was a crash they need to be 9kgs for the seat to protect them (so says Mothercare). They even weigh the babies in Mothercare to make sure they are 9kg before installing a seat so it must be for a reason. Clearly I ignored that but figured 0.5 kg was near enough to take the chance as we also have a very safe tank sized car.

Made scrambled egg for Luke today which he HATED!!!! I ate it though- yum. He also wouldn't eat the organix tomato pot but wolfed down a pot of yoghurt. He did eat bread though. I gave him plain baby rice at tea which he ate so maybe I do need to take him back to basics. I can't imagine too much baby rice is good for the system though seeing how it swells up in the plate and turns to wallpaper paste!

Amberc · 25/01/2009 18:59

PS HHH Luke started off his rolling slowly but is now all over the place. His fave rolling experience is down hill (i.e. down a giant pillow onto the rug - weeeeeeeeee! ). He can only crawl backwards and has learned nothing from Baby Pearls when she came round to show him how to crawl forwards!

DebInAustria · 25/01/2009 19:59

UDC - good to hear from you. Ethan prefers sweet to savoury food (like his Mum), something he likes one day he hates the next, sometimes he likes the highchair, sometimes not etc...

HH - we have reclining settee too and I can foresee all the problems already, Ethan is moving at some speed now when rolling.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 25/01/2009 20:55

deb always check before you put the feet down. I didn't realise he was under there until I heard him playing with something
amber There is almost competitive parenting going on at my NCT mums and babies group 'watch how X does this', 'Y watch Z so that you can do this'. The mums I did antenatal with have babies ranging from 9.5 months to Isaac at 7 months (youngest) so it stands to reason that they will all be doing things at different times. I wish they would stop it sometimes.

Right off to get a Glass of wine before Lost starts on Sky1

DebInAustria · 25/01/2009 21:10

Thanks HH

spongebrainbigpants · 25/01/2009 21:53

Just marking my place - sorry, dh is bugging me to shut off laptop!

HH, big gap in your antenatal class - there is only 3 weeks between oldest and youngest in ours!

parofleurmapu · 25/01/2009 22:11

Hi Just quickly to mark my place

Debs - Fleur is like that too one day she will gulp down something savoury and the next she turns her nose up but she never refuses anything sweet.

Also same with bought food somedays only bought stuff will do for her!!!

Hehe with reclining chairs but oops too!!

Sorry bout your gran Neenz

Car seats Fleur is 8.5kg now so she can still be in maxi cosi til 13 kg but what if her legs stick out is this ok?

Oh and this is my fav possible wedding dress so far if anyone is curious wed dress

AliandHerScallywag · 25/01/2009 22:19

Evening All,

Neenz so sorry to hear about your Nan. Hope the results are better than feared.

I have been feeling this weekend. I think I have mentioned in the past that I have a Uni friend who I have known ford over 10 years who also had a baby on the same day as me. She is the one who escaped to the spa last weekend to get away from her DH. Well, the break hasn't helped as they had a massive row yesterday. She has only been able to text me as they are at her PILs. From what I can tell, her DH told her she is unattractive, unfit and unmotivated and that she doesn't deserve a break at the weekends because being a SAHM is such a doss. How dare he after she has given him a beautiful son? She does a great job with the house and the baby (so much better than me). She has half a stone to lose but she was doing triathlons before being pg so was vv fit. I saw her in a bikini last weekend at the spa and she looked great. Even if she is a different shape how can a loving husband possibly be so mean to the woman he made vows to and who bore him a child? I have known her DH for 10 years and am so shocked that he would say these things. He is a bit self centred but would never have imagined him being so incapable of adapting to life with a baby. I am just for my lovely, capable and attractive friend.

Aside from my burning anger a good weekend here. P and DH both lovely. P can still only roll from back to tum and then get stuck and cry, but it is easier than having a mobile one I am sure.

Amberc · 26/01/2009 07:10

Ali - how awful for your friend. I can understand how you would be so angry too. I'm sure the husband didn't mean it and maybe they are just going through a tough patch at the mo. It is so easy to attack someone's looks and it's guaranteed to hurt. I hope he is crawling on his knees with apologies today. My DP and I had a row yesterday and it's horrid.

whinegums · 26/01/2009 09:53

Must have been something cosmic yesterday, had a huge ding dong with DP too last night, and we're being v adult... Haven't spoken since....

Neenz, so sorry to hear about your nan.

Paro, lovely frock!

AliandHerScallywag · 26/01/2009 10:21

Paro - xposted last night. Gorgeous dress, and very unusual too. Think it will look fantastic.

Oh dear, lots of arguments. Hope nowt too serious Amber and Whinegums. LOL at the not speaking being the grown up approach. This is how my friend and her DH tend to leave things too. I need to call her and see how she is feeling. Her DH tends to sulk so probably no apology yet.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 26/01/2009 10:30

paro love that dress, I got my wedding dress from monsoon too and then found the matching wrap in the sale before wedding, but after I had bought the dress and was v

ali so sad for your friend. Hope things are going better for her now.

SBBP one of the NCT babes was born at 35 weeks after only one class, The rest were normal term deliveries but there were still 5/6 weeks between the next oldest and Isaac as the youngest.

Right I have promised myself I will limit my posting this week before I go back to work next week

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 26/01/2009 11:22

Sorry to hear about all of the rows this weekend.

DS is 8.8kgs so still in his first carseat. It's okay for the legs to be scrunched up as long as thier head deosn't go over the top of the back. Ds is long for his age and a just under the 50th for weight for I think he will outgrow ir before 13kgs height wise. I'll keep him in as long as poss especially as we have to buy a new for one him as we didn't have a car untill nearly two years ago.

Paro I love the dress!

I decided to treat myself this weekend and bought a fab new camera, I realluy had to um and ah about it as it was pricey. Then on sunday our tv broke so we have to buy a new one. Glad I bought the camera first!!!
