Egocentric post alert...

So I have bought yoghurt today to try out the savoury yoghurt theory we had before. Got Greek yoghurt - hope that's right. I am going to try Annabel Karmel baby pasta stars with a tomato, cheese and yoghurt sauce. Sounds yumbo to me! It's just me obviously as Luke had chili con carne today at nursery and ate half of it - not even pureed just rice, mince and kiidney beans! Cheeky monkey. I am wondering if my meals are not flavoured enough now. I think he knows I will give in.Also when he eats at nursery all the others are eating too so it might spur him on.

I sense a theme here of babies having on their mothers. The realisation that their mums will cave far more easily than people at nursery/CMs/Grannies etc...

Luke slept until 6.40 this morning - miracle!! He did stir at 4.20 but then went back to sleep on his own - please let him continue!!!! (I still woke up anyway )

How'd it go today Essie?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/01/2009 21:09

Amber - he may simply not be ready for 3 meals a day. DD aged 3 won't eat anything more than toast if she has been at nursery where she gets a hot lunch, DS either eats or he won't try not to get stressed some babies take longer than others. i am luckty if I get three teaspoons down him a day.

Amberc · 23/01/2009 21:17

Thanks Five but I meant the days he is not at nursery when it's his first meal at lunch time. He never eats much at tea time and i don't mind as the lunch meal is the main one of the day.

josey · 23/01/2009 21:18

Hello everyone, thanks for sharing my proud mummy moment. Oli really showed off to the SALT and PHYsio and OT this week they are all over the moon with her

We went to a Special Needs toddler group yesterday, it was really good to go somewhere and not feel as though we are being gawped at. Or say things without explaining.

Sybil yes from 4months Olivia has had double cream or clotted cream(as higher cals) in with her food, also cheesey potatoes and butter in things, Im lucky just now to get more than one sitting a day with her though This was all proffessional advice and not just my decision.

Essie I was thinking about you the other day not only did I see TOny HEart died but during a clear out I found my John Craven autograph!!!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/01/2009 21:20

I still wouldn't worry about it too much Amber - it will happen.

josey · 23/01/2009 21:22

Oh forgot to say, we got a reply today regarding the complaint against that awful consultant!!!!
Basically poopooing what I said and sticking up for there own, then my DH got a phone call from the admin team "what do you think" type call and they were pretty off and started off on one, until he happened to mention the £4000 he has raised for them although yet to get the bloody jump done due to weather. Big changed of heart and they now what to discuss it further with us

Essie3 · 23/01/2009 21:27

Hello!
Thanks for all the support - I was so tired this morning it was unbelievable. But some very useful bits of advice from you guys, thanks again.
Well, today I dropped Iestyn off at nursery all downcast, and the girls were all positive and told me not to worry, it would all be fine. So, he seemed downcast, but I went to take some ebm in at lunchtime (50ml, didn't want to waste the good stuff!) and he had eaten his lunch and been fine. He was playing in a little bouncy chair and couldn't see me, but started crying when he heard my voice. I stood outside the door wondering whether to go back in, and the manager of the baby room came by and told me to go, he would be fine. So off I went, and he was apparently fine; he drank his ebm (given on a spoon - there's patience!), and even had some weetabix and formula! I picked him up and he was on fine form.
I'm now less panicky about the milk - my bfing expert e-mailed me back saying if he's producing wet and dirty nappies and is not wasting away (he's not, he is in fact looking a bit...FAT!! Hooray!) he sounds fine. And my thread on the bfing board has been good too - someone pointed out that he gets 5 bfs a day, the bit at nursery is negligible.
If I'm honest, I yearn for the time when I could have nights off. But I suppose I can't have everything.

Amber I second what 5GoMad says - breakfast is always a failure here - Iestyn does not want it. But he eats well at nursery and has supper.

I'm sure there's other stuff but I'm considering going to bed...

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/01/2009 21:29

Well done Olivia and goo luck with the complaint.

I also wanted to say Amber that as long as he is putting on weight then he is fine. He should be getting most of his calories still through FF and basically what you are doing at the moment is introducing him to diferent tastes. DD also always eats far better when she is at nursery as she is surrounded by others who are eating, she also eats better when we have friends over as agian it is a social thing. Have you tried eating at the asme time so he can copy you as at nursery he is watching the others and seeing how they do it.

Essie3 · 23/01/2009 21:29

Oh, x-posted. Hi Josey - also thought of you when I heard that Tony Hard died! Spooky!

Essie3 · 23/01/2009 21:30

Argh, still x-posting, and MUST preview. Tony Hard - the porno artist! I meant Tony Hart obviously!

ahedgehogisHibernating · 23/01/2009 21:44

essie glad things were better for you today

amber maybe you need to give up the purees and just go with finger foods. Isaac had pizza fingers last night and stripped the topping off and left the base. This evening he has helped himself to my curry and naan bread. But echo what 5 says about most of his calories coming through Formla

josey good luck with the complaint.

Well here Isaac is into everything so we are off on a major shopping trip tomorrow for babyproofing supplies, Techo XT, and a new car seat. I may go a little bit madder and also get some new nappies in the next size while I have my bonus to spend.

I have one week left of being a SAHM I really must make the most of it.

bitofadramaqueen · 23/01/2009 21:56

Ooh, thanks paro. to everyone else and sends virtual gin and tonics to all of those in need .

Ting tings, yes!

neenztwinz · 23/01/2009 21:58

Josey, good luck with that complaint. Don;t give up!

Amber, yes I think they just like to have us on! Esther is a little minx, closing her mouth to food. You can see it in her eyes: 'If you think I am eating that..!' She likes yogurt but you have to tap the spoon against her lips to get her to open her mouth - once she gets the taste of yogurt on the lips she opens her mouth. Today we had some cauliflower and haddock mashed and she refused to eat it. So I put it on the spoon then dipped the end in yogurt to fool her into thinking it was yogurt. That didn't work for long though . They ate well at tea though, I went back to basics wiht all the things I know they like (parsnips, butternut sq, carrots, sweet potato, milk and baby rice!)

PMSL at Tony Hard!!! And I mean really laughing!! Glad today went better Essie, he really will settle in fine I'm sure, just stick with it and be asured you are doing the right thing for him and you [there should be a hugs emoticon]

bitofadramaqueen · 23/01/2009 21:59

the May 09 ante-natal lot have a creme egg themed thread title

DebInAustria · 23/01/2009 22:19

BDQ - saw that and thought how dare they???

Been feeling rough with the blocked duct but at the end of it now, slept when Ethan slept in the day today, but it meant I missed the boys ski school races. No videos this year but Stefan came 2nd and Tristan went so fast he missed the last 3 slalom gates so was disqualified! Nothing's going to stop me from getting up there for the school ski race as that's the biggy - I will not be ill on 6th March!

Tonight trying Ethan in with his brothers again, but I can hear him stirring - so is it better to try to resettle him now(according to the book you're talking about), I usually leave him in the hope that he'll go back to sleep himself and he normally doesn't and then I feed him. The nights re getting a bit wearing now. [tired emoticon]

Sympathies to all those who are also tired, having problems with feeding, drinking, yoghurt, rolling etc etc...

josey · 23/01/2009 22:21

Hehe at Tony Hard!!!! I really should do more to keep my mind buzzy(poor morph)

I wont give up with the complaint Im so angry they stated in the letter that if I should have sat down and told this man that I had PND and he would have been nicer to me WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MORE new Oli is up she has just cut her first tooth bless no relief from objects she can stick in her mouth to bit through the pain!! It wasnt there at 7pm on last feed though I thought it was close!

Amber my DD1 NEVER ate breakfast she would want something about 11am and is still the same, she will take a bowl of DRY cereal with a drink of milk and nibble then at 11 have toast or ready break or fruit then lunch at 12 she is now the same build as kids in her nursery class who are a year older!!!

A happy child is a hungry child and a hungry child will eat, it took me ages to de stress that she wouldnt eat breakfast as DS at 6months had 2 weetabix and toast and banana. He now eats 3 weatabix with a full bowl of other ceral and he is tiny! Hohum the human race!!

Fivegomad, how is Seb?how is the feeding going? what are they saying about the delay? can I ask what kind of delay there is?

DebInAustria · 23/01/2009 22:27

he would have been nicer to you I can't believe they think that's acceptable

Poor Oli, Ethan's teeth are coming really quickly( 4 through and no 5 nearly there) but in a strange order, maybe when this lot are through the sleeping will improve.

Essie3 · 23/01/2009 22:28

Amber I'd say keep at it with the purees. I very much doubt Luke would go anywhere near finger foods. Finger foods are not the be all and end all, and don't work for all babies - Iestyn is one of them, it would be idiotic to let him feed himself as he wouldn't. Luke is very similar to Iestyn (except in size and colouring!) Plus you can make sure he's eating good nutritious foods and keep a close eye on what's going in - safer with his eczema, I think.

Essie3 · 23/01/2009 22:29

OMG, I'm not posting any more because I keep crossing loads of people - mainly Josey

neenztwinz · 23/01/2009 22:34

They sound like idiots at the hospital Josey!!! 'You should have told him not to be such a wanker then he would have been nice' .

[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/690481-to-think-a-35-year-old-man-sho uld-have-had this] is the funniest thing I have read in ages!

neenztwinz · 23/01/2009 22:35

this even

DebInAustria · 24/01/2009 07:33

Morning everyone, feeling much better here today, and Ethan managed a 5 hour stretch last night which also helps.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/01/2009 07:57

Morning all.

Josey he just doens't eat when he doesn't want to which is most of the time. He wolfs down his bottles but food is a non starter basically, but we will persevere and will get there.

spongebrainbigpants · 24/01/2009 09:35

Morning guys, quick rant from me before I go back and read the thread.

Went out last night with the NCT girls, parked my car in a well-lit car park with a CCTV camera pointing directly at it. Came back to the car at 1am and both my wing mirrors had been kicked off in a completely moronic act of vandalism.

In the grand scheme of things it's soooo minor, but I just can't believe that I'm going to have to pay out to replace my wing mirrors, spending money that I can ill-afford, just cos some total wanker thought it would be fecking hilarious to smash my wing mirrors off.

Found a policeman who gave us the number to ring to report it, and he told us that the CCTV camera is never switched on .

WHAT'S THE FECKING POINT OF HAVING IT THEN? FALSE REASSURANCE?!!! [ANGRY] And why do the police go round telling people that?!

I hope karma repays the bastards in spades.

What really sticks is I work with the kind of mindless pricks that would do something like this. So I'm leaving my baby in childcare to help these people - why? Some body tell me why?

I really hate this country right now.

Rant over .

neenztwinz · 24/01/2009 09:42

Oh Sponge - that is the last thing you needed. What do you do for a living then? Try not to link the two things together, hopefully your going back to work won't be forever. In 12 months the recession might be over and everyone's jobs will look more secure. Yes it is a bit dim to tell people the cctv is never turned on . Can you find second hand wing mirrors on ebay?

Debs, glad Ethan obliged with a longer sleep last night. I won't tell you Theo and Esther slept from 7pm till 8am .

After being a bit picky with food the last few days, Esther wolfed down porridge and prunes this morning (after refusing to eat it yesterday ) She is a monkey (maybe teeth tho?). Theo is drooling like crazy today and didn;t seem too fussed with brekkie, tho he still ate it.
