Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

YEY! We can all meet for cocktails or summat hurrah! Am almost looking forward to going back to work just because of this weekend away (as work will finance it). Will be nice having my own money again - DH earns buttons, bless him, so it's been a bit of a struggle this year.

Ah chipmonkey! True, is her.

Ta VS - will ring her tomorrow and see if has tried. I feel a bit rubbish offering advice - but then the other side of things is I know how pants she is feeling - that every ff at moment is making her feel like the biggest failure in the world and I can see her breaking her little heart over it. I think she is giving up - and I know how easy it is to do, as bf is hard work and without good support is difficult to get through problems.

Oh wonderful!!!

Btw, VS, I don't think I've ever told you this as I didn't mean to slag any organisation off that does so much to promote bfing, but remember when I was having problems ages ago? Anyway, I called both LL, NCT and mw's, and it was probably just my bad luck, but the support was really bad (which, again, I can understand as people are giving their own time and no funds are available to fund it). I remember one lady saying that it might just be the end (usual for me, I remember I did something to mess it up - think I didn't express or something and struggled with supply for a bit). Midwives were friendly etc, but said that I had to wait till the next Friday as they only had bfing support every Friday. I think I didn't say anything as I understood the problem, but if it wasn't for you being here I probably would have stopped earlier. It's bad that lots of people would give up not really out of own choice.

EllieG · 01/02/2009 20:46

Hurray have just texted my mate to ask how is going and VS's initial thoughts (for which she said thank you very much) and she said she is upping the bfeeds lots at moment to try and get things back on track and seems to be feeling more positive.

That's brilliant news, Ellie. Hope she's back to doing what she prefers really soon!

EllieG · 01/02/2009 20:51

Sadly Sal even the volunteer agencies have their duff supporters

If you ever get the chance it might be a good thing to fire off an email to let the head honchos know that you weren't satisfied with your 'support'. It's something they need to be aware of so they can try and address it. Glad I was of some help though.

Great news about your friend Ellie.

If this meet in London is turning up to be a piss up then I expect an invite

EllieG · 01/02/2009 20:54

Defo! We will find a date we can all do and everyone who can make it can come! How cool would that be!

Right, really going now. 'Laters x

Ok VS, will do. I felt bad to say anything as I realise it wasn't malicious, but I guess it it might improve things for someone else. Will do it tomorrow.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/02/2009 21:02

Right, am off to go iron some clothes for work. I have to leave at 7:15 tomorrow. That's just wrong, isn't it???

Chat again tomorrow night.

Night all.

VictorianSqualor · 01/02/2009 21:05

Don't feel bad!
IF someone isn't doing their job properly (paid or unpaid) then their boss needs to know so it can be addressed. Especially in something as fragile as Bf support.

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 21:09

Well DHs fight is in May sometime he says Would LOVE it to be the same weekend!!

I may stalk Ellie on her home turf for a holiday this year anyway.....

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 21:12

BTW, BF support here is incredibly good. There are on call counsellors, baby clubs, you are given the mobile numbers of BF counsellors (2) at birth of BF baby...all sorts. When we had thrush at 10 days it took a phone call, and all of a sudden i had medicine, a HV who i cried and snotted all over [blush[, the works. MW taught me to feed lying down and one day came to the house 3 times in an afternoon to help me latch.

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 21:15

Went out for roast as was too lazy to cook - was yum. Mimi got lovely looks and comments from people scooping up peas and loads of chicken from her tray (also loved custard and fudge cake )

RobertPattinsonComeToMomma · 01/02/2009 22:10

Yes, I am chip! I would change back but then I would feel disloyal to Robert!

VictorianSqualor · 02/02/2009 08:21

How much snow has everyone got then?

My course has been cancelled today but school is still open...for now.

SalLikesCoffee · 02/02/2009 08:44

It's beautiful here. I fell down 5 times on my way to the station (we live at the top of a "hill", so not great for going downhill in the snow!), just to find out no trains running at all! So not going to work today. Not great workwise, but kind of nice looking through the window. There's no way I could get R to nursery anyway (since the falling obv not safe with a baby attached, buggy a no go and cars can't drive, it's too slippery!), so I'm kind of glad it's impossible to get in.

VictorianSqualor · 02/02/2009 09:11

I could have told you about the trains

Us Brits are pretty much incapable of anything after 2 mm of snow

Have just been told school will almost definitely close early and the space under the car where DP left 30 minutes ago is already snowed over.

ScorpiowithabigS · 02/02/2009 09:25

no snow here

[hmmpphh]

SalLikesCoffee · 02/02/2009 09:33

Hehe, VS.

Scorpio, you should be here - everything is white, probably the thickest snow I've seen in my 7 years in London. It really is quite pretty. All the branches are heavy with it! If only I had ski poles, it would be perfect outside - currently I'm falling over every couple of minutes though!

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 02/02/2009 09:40

Slight snow here- somng latrer in SW apaprenlty?

School open. With no heating. FFS.

VictorianSqualor · 02/02/2009 09:41

This is out of my front door, the car on the left is next doors, so you can see where DP was parked is now white. Think you can just about see snowflakes but it is really heavy here now.

LadyBee · 02/02/2009 10:14

We've got about 6 cms, now (DP just measured it! ) - it stopped for a bit but there's more just started to fall.

Are we bad parents? Benedict has gone off to his childminder, despite the fact that we're both still at home.
My excuse is that I work from home regularly anyway, so will just be on mumsnet doing that (this is just checking email and attempting to make a spreadsheet), but DP has no excuse whatsoever. Just that we've paid for it already so ...

I've told DP that he has to do at least one job today that he's been wanting to do but couldn't because it was difficult with B around.

VictorianSqualor · 02/02/2009 10:18

When my DCs have been going to nursery/CM and I've had an unexpected day off I've always sent them, then got bored and picked them up early

SalLikesCoffee · 02/02/2009 10:23

VS,you should see it here- it's at least 15cms out our front door. I word almost knee-length boots and it covered them at least half way!

I considered taking R to nursery too, but there's no safe way I can get him there - I fell myself silly on the way to the station earlier, so can't risk having him in a sling or trying to push a buggy downhill and then falling! Damn, could do with lying in a warm bath for hours...
