Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

Nope, same sort of day tomorrow, though DH has no training on fridays just a run, which he can do after dc are in bed.

Ahh, bless Sam. Hope it goes well.

VictorianSqualor · 29/01/2009 11:21

I think it's only for active conversations.

Soph73 · 29/01/2009 11:25

Thanks VS.

Scorpio - aahh, poor you. I think initially the stuff he'll be doing is to strengthen the muscles around his mouth & to help with his tongue as it does poke out a little bit. Not all the time though. Does your DH train every day?

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 11:29

weird isn't it Soph, hpow they even know how to stregthen those muscles iyswim. DH has Saturdays off.

Soph73 · 29/01/2009 11:47

I know, it's fascinating really.

paranoidmummy · 29/01/2009 13:11

VS your poor ds, I hate shitty nasty little kids too. Ds1 started school in sept and is getting on v well but told me the other day that some boy in his class (yr above tho) kept telling him not to play with him and pushing him over (he's a big fat kid by the way - I'm aware I sound like a schoolkid!) so I told him if he did again to tell a teacher. DH flippantly said in the backgrund 'or hit him back' [hmmm] 'ha ha silly daddy no we don't do that'. Next day... 'Mummy, that boy was mean to me and pushed me so I punched him like daddy said - hard in the heart so he cried' in the HEART???? In the titting heart??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't punch people in the heart. Don't punch people anywhere but not in the bloody heart! Why were you aiming for that area?! Well done daddy. Anyway... he asked ds over to play yesterday and keeps trying to play with him at lunch so it must have done the trick! I think I'm going to suggest the method to anti-bully groups

Soph73 · 29/01/2009 13:17

paranoid - sorry, but couldn't help but have a little smile to myself over your DS punching him back. However, I certainly do not condone that sort of behaviour. I sometimes think though that certain kids should get punched back.

Am feeling content now as I've just eaten steak and chips - scrummy

VictorianSqualor · 29/01/2009 13:23

LOL.
EXACTLY the same convo we had this morning.
Me: 'Tell the Teacher' DP: 'Don't let anyone walk all over you, hit the bugger back'

We compromised with 'Don't let him treat you like a schmuck, don't let him think you're scared, he's not bigger or stronger than you, just nastier, so you say 'NO! You DO NOT do that to me. How DARE you.' Then tell the teacher.'

paranoidmummy · 29/01/2009 13:35

LOL! I'm glad its not just me, I thought I had a hyper violent dh and was about to go hiding the stella! It might be worth suggesting the whole heart punching idea to your ds, seems to have worked a treat!!!! ds's bully is quite a fat child tho so maybe not such a good idea if said bully doesn't have so much padding!

Seriously, I hope it sorts itself out, your poor ds, it breaks my heart when they say things like that

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 29/01/2009 14:35

Ah but VS how d you know the litte boy isn't SN

Soph73 · 29/01/2009 14:42

Peachy - you make the area sound very appealing

DS1 is off swimming this afternoon. Usually one of the teachers picks him up & brings him back to school as DH & myself are working. However, every other Thurs DH can pick him up (today). DH, with a big smile on his face, says to DS1 "Daddy can pick you up from swimming today." To which DS1 replied "Nooooo, I want Mr Wilson to pick me up." That wiped the smile off his face Poor DH.

VictorianSqualor · 29/01/2009 14:43

I know the child in question I was sure I discovered which child before I summoned demons and hexed his family

LadyBee · 29/01/2009 14:52

hahaha, ok, am not condoning that sort of behaviour either, but thought of small boy coming home and reporting that he'd punched a bully in the heart does create a small 'hooray' sort of cheer in my head. In the heart though. geeezzz.

So have just had the boiler guy around and he looked at the boiler, sucked his teeth and said, you're going to have to replace ...

....
the fan.

Thank goodness. I mean, it's not nothing, in fact it's still more ££ than we can spare right at this minute, but at least it's not the whole boiler and we're safe to leave it for a bit until we can gather funds.

In fact for a day that is only just halfway done it's been very eventful in the financial way - have so far found out that
1)boiler needs repair, not replace - yay!
2) Car failed MOT - boo!
3) Friends who are leaving the UK are going to give us their (working) car - yay!
4) Insurance is up for renewal, and even with no claims bonus, is going UP by 75% boo!
5) Mortgage is up for renewal, and even with credit crunch and going onto variable rate, payments will go down by a couple of hundred a month -
yay!

so very odd.

LadyBee · 29/01/2009 14:59

Oh poor MrSoph! I feel so guilty when DS does his 'mumumumumumum' thing to DP.

Funny thing is, in the afternoons when DP isn't around, it's "Dad dad dad dad dad dad dad dad"

Peachy - I've suddenly realised why we might get quite a lot of helicopters too

Soph73 · 29/01/2009 15:28

LadyBee - well you have had an eventful day so far. Our car insurance is coming out in the next couple of days & we're waiting to see if it goes up because we had to claim for a new windscreen over Christmas

Fickle things children

Had to smile to myself just now. There's a prison located fairly close to the school we work at and about 10 mins ago I heard a helicopter go over & all I could think about was Peachy & now you Ladybee

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 15:31

I feel left out now - we don't have a prison!

Thinking of going chippy for tea. DH won't want tea until later anyway, after TBxn, so its just me and dc. Hope chips won't kill Mimi

VictorianSqualor · 29/01/2009 15:42

Before I moved the prison was on next to our village, now it's just outside of town.

LadyBee · 29/01/2009 15:48

well, our prison is on the other side of the tracks to where we live...obviously

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 15:49

LOL LadyBee

Well we have a YMCA unit just down the road - with flats for troubled teens. Do i count?

LadyBee · 29/01/2009 15:50

chips are good for babies.
You do realise you will have brush the salt off with a fine paintbrush though, don't you

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 15:51

i will rub the salt off, lol. She can have a bit of fish too and i will do her some peas or summit

I am a cow. Asked DH if he could come home any earlier, he said no sorry lots of kisses etc - i text him back 'Oh what a shocker' poor boy, he is so accomodating when i have pmt!

VictorianSqualor · 29/01/2009 15:54

Panda had chip shop two nights ago. He also had a curry (homemade) the other day with naan bread and poppadoms.
When I went to school yesterday morning DS1's teacher said 'Ohh, the life of a third child, eh? Have you had cocopops for breakfast this morning Alex?' (He was covered in chocolate milk)

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 15:55

ha ha yes. Mimi likes chocolate spread and regularly steals the boys cereal and sweets

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 15:56

chip shop is only 2 minutes from my house [dribble] and opens in 45 mins

LadyBee · 29/01/2009 16:00

at least your paintbrushes will be have some use though
