Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

BAs HATES choccy- we thought it was an allergy but he was deliberately bringing it up becuase he ahtes it (same with carob)

The prison is in Usk, veeeeeery posh LOL, no wromng side of tracks there! has a massive escape rate, always in nws, the copters hover over the gardens for ages

Better than when I was nursing and living in the grouns of a hospital that ahd a secure unit- copters meant PANIC NOW!

BAs gets all sorts; made him a gF CF pizza for tomorrows lunch but mainly he eats humzingers and df 'cheese' spread on rice cakes with amshed whatever (stew yesterday)

Hiya, boy you lot can talk!
Can I have some advice please?
I'm really struggling to get my DD to eat anything at the moment. Tried her on several things today, all of which she refused. We also had fish & chips tonight, but she didn't want any of that either. Was it Ellie who's DD had gone back to milk & was there a reason? My DD has got a stinking cold, conjunctivitus and is teething as well I think, so I can't blame her for not wanting to eat, but I'm worried she's not getting enough nutrition (she's only having the same amount in milk that she was when she was having 3 good meals a day).
Also, she's really fighting off sleeping unless she's with me. Again, I know it's probably cos she's feeling lousy, but I'm getting worried she's playing on it now and don't really want to start the habit of her sleeping in our bed.
Thanks in advance!

Hi bumpkin,

Dunno how much I can help but I do know this, Jack NEVER refuses Baby Rice pudding or Egg custard and rice. Perhaps you could try those? If you have already then just ignore me!

Hope it gets better. Hugs! xxxx

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 29/01/2009 21:20

When Bas was suffering from m a cold he went right off eating, I think its nrmal- they lose their senses of smell and taste so milk must just seem better (plus in nature when BF I giess it would have had all the immunity stuff as whatever baby gets Mum will either have, or have had and now be immune to iyswim)

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 29/01/2009 21:28

Ellie- quick Q- do you know of any groups that offer support to people having issues with social services? Mum on SN having problems with her SW, thinks she might lose her daughter.

ThePFJ · 29/01/2009 21:39

VS - I often frown at the thought of Jack going to school one day and coming home having been bullied. Some parents are SHITE. I know of one family who have a 4 year old who is already out of control. His first words were 'piss off'. Nice huh?
Scorpio - My neighbours are DIYing alot lately, and everytime I hear them banging loudly on the wall I think of the comedian Mitch Hedburg and I shout 'Go around... there is NO door on THIS side...'(of my wall)

bumpkin32 · 30/01/2009 08:58

Thanks PFJ & Peachy - haven't tried rice pudding yet, but will give that a go.

She's had a fairly good night's sleep (most of it in her cot, after falling asleep on me), so hopefully she'll be a bit happier today. Not sure whether to take her to nursery for a few hours, if she is a bit brighter. I've rung them up and they say that all the kids have got some sort of cold (and I know that's where she got it from and I really need to go to work!). She also tends to eat well there (think she's frightened the others might eat it all!), and they can always give me their advice.

No neighbours from hell doing DIY here, only motorists speeding along our road at 60mph (it's a 30mph), using it as a shortcut cos the main road is closed for 6 weeks.

Morning all! Yay for Friday!!

My Dad and brother are decending this weekend... My Dad is delivering the Christmas present he made for me and DP.. a new wooden bed frame! Our metal frame one is falling apart and poor kitty likes to sleep under there...

I love the new mumsnet logo. Very glamourous.

Hmm... need food...
I has minieggs!!
Don't think they are good for breakfast though....

EllieG · 30/01/2009 09:36

Hey all!

Bit more positive here - especially since reading amusing punch-in-heart story, I know I shouldn't, but made me laugh in a sort of unladylike snorty way. DH is like that whenever DSD has said anything about bullies 'Just punch em' and she always says [very shocked] 'Oh no Daddy I mustn't!'

DD bit better for the sleep thanks, though not much

bumpkin - best thing I found was to just ride it out, if just wants milk let have it. Offer LO her favourite things, and if doesn't want much don't worry. DD does this when poorly and is a chunky monkey, and when better starts hoovering everything in sight again.

Am glad is not just me with the bad food - when DSD and DH are around I am all 'Oh no the baby must not have sugar until she is 2' but yesterday when they weren't there and my mate was round I fed her half a chocolate brownie

And now she is crawling round watching Balamory while I am on MN. What a great Mum I am

What has happened to MN anyway? Has gone all weird?

peachy - can you link to the thread please? I will go have a look and see if know anything that might be useful for her, poor lady

ThePFJ · 30/01/2009 09:54

Yeap.. MN is weird.

ThePFJ · 30/01/2009 09:55

Little Jack LOVES Big Cook Little Cook... I can not STAND it. The things we put up with for our kiddies....

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 10:02

Mimi is watching baby tv,

was ill in the night again last night. Think i'm falling apart. Am not managing very well, have put ds2 in nursery till 3pm today to get some headspace. Mimi is snotty

ThePFJ · 30/01/2009 10:09

Hugs Scorpio. Get a nice cup of tea. Breathe and get wrapped up in a blankie and put your feet up for 20mins.

Have some of my precious minieggs....

Soph73 · 30/01/2009 12:18

Afternoon all.
Scorpio - sorry to hear you're feeling poorly again and hope you perk up again soon.

PFJ - don't suppose there are any mini-eggs left are there? Need comfort/junk food, always do this time of the month.

I was most perturbed just now to see the format of MN had changed, took me blinkin' ages to work out where I was

Sam had his first speech therapy appointment this morning We've got some massaging type thingamees to do around his lips & under his chin to help him keep his tongue in & strengthen the muscles. He spent the whole half an hour trying to bite her hand

VictorianSqualor · 30/01/2009 12:25

I WANT TO BE PG.
Tis not fair.
Someone else whose baby is YOUNGER than ours has just told me she is 7 weeks gone (YES!!I mean you Stretch!!)

Soph73 · 30/01/2009 12:36

VS - yep, totally unfair. It dawned on me today that I spent 4 yrs breathing huge sighs of relief that I wasn't pregnant and now, all I want to be is pregnant again. Weird. Anyway, I'm going to have to try & banish all these thoughts from my mind.

DH got the salary scale for the Head of Secondary post which has just been advertised today. If he gets this job it will make a HUGE difference to our circumstances. So, please, all you lovely ladies, lots of positive vibes this way please. He's practically doing the job already (which is a bit galling), but still doesn't think he's going to get it. So, we need all the luck you can throw at us

VictorianSqualor · 30/01/2009 12:44

Would you be able to have another if he got the job soph??

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 12:46

I know, VS. It will be ok

Soph - good luck to DH! Then you can have more babies yay

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 12:48

I came on the laptop to pay the tax bill - how did i end up here?

LadyBee · 30/01/2009 13:06

It just sucks you in Scorpio, I'm looking up books. Really I am. No really.

There, there VS, you will be PG. You will.

ooh fingers and toes crossed for your DH Soph, it's annoying how organisations manage to get people working above their pay for ages, without any guarantee that it will mean definite promotion. I've been in that situation and so has my DP, and in both cases when we didn't get promoted it was the one thing that prompted us to start looking elsewhere. I wonder whether managers realise what a disincentive that sort of thing is? Anyway, hope your DH doesn't find himself in that situation and that you're celebrating soon.

Like the idea of Sam spending 30 mins trying to take a nip of speech therapists hand!

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 13:09

Why Sept? Are you one of those evil people who get just looking at your dh?

Soph73 · 30/01/2009 13:44

VS - possibly, if I could persuade DH Although, saying that DH did say the other day that he would quite happily have another but we just can't afford it. It would also be a bit of a squeeze in the house, but nothing we couldn't manage.

LadyBee - yep, we would have to have a serious think about the future if he doesn't get it. I can't bear to think about it at the moment so am just going to go around going "la la la la" until the closing date on the 13th Feb. After that I shall go into complete panic mode until we know one way or another

Scorpio - that's one of the reasons we still haven't got internet at home. I'd never be off the thing
