pinky? - sorry to hear about your probs. Really puts mine in perspective and makes me realise i've got it good. Well sort of.
cricri - teeth. Useful link www.babyworld.co.uk/information/baby/teeth/order_appearance_teeth.asp.

A bedtime routine? - Went better this eve. A been in moses basket since about 8pm after being fetched back down stairs and taken back up. So earlier than last night which is good but A did disturb for a min and straight back down. Of course DH cuddled her rather than trying "Sshh". But who knows she might not have gone back to sleep without a cuddle.

vbab78 · 05/01/2009 22:01

Any news on rutho?

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 05/01/2009 22:04

Yup friday 23rd cool with me. I'm going totry to get DH to take the day off.

On a plus note, DH's nieces came to see us at Christmas (age20, 17 and 13) and they have all offered to babysit anytime for us! Yay!

chocolategal · 05/01/2009 22:04

oh my goodness dozy all 3 DC's in bed at 7pm???
my GF book cant come quick enough!! LOL!

ceebee E is like Sam, hes great at night but like buzz says a limpet during the day!

no advice for those with problems but reading through all your posts sounds like you are made of tough stuff and will get through this

LackaDAISYcal · 05/01/2009 22:09

chocgal....my older two have always been in bed by 7pm.

bumble is obviously from a different mould.

OP posts:
chocolategal · 05/01/2009 22:29

daisy i think i just need to stop worrying about a routine/holding E too much/how often he feeds etc and enjoy him!

i read through everyone else's posts and wish for bits of everyone else's babies but i guess none of us have the "perfect" baby and i am soooo in love with my boy i should go with it!!

on a positive note have just booked centerparcs for june and got 30% off!
not quite as exotic as thailand was or as glamourous as las vegas but times are a changing now my little monkey is here!!

Yorky · 05/01/2009 23:09

Hello everyone, DH should have been at work today but drove to Heathrow to collect my parents instead! They have been on holiday to NZ over Christmas for their Goddaughters wedding. Yes Merry, I would emigrate in a flash to NZ, we went 2yrs ago and I keep suggesting to DH that he exchanges his commission for one in the NZAF. But I still had the 2DC to myself all day and we didn't do too badly, even when mums and tots was cancelled. baked a banana cake as bananas were way overripe!
Pinky-tiger, You sound like you are making real progress in your own head. I have just shown DH your link and we agree that while she doesn't do all the things listed, it is too close a description of his Mother to be comfy. I could have told him who was golden boy after his mums 2nd wedding a couple of years ago (BIL - who is a nice guy) Fortunately for me/us he isn't too close to his family. Lets do the meetup soon - you need coffee therapy
Calpol after jabs, definitely
Sorry for those with sleeping issues - DD seemed to have settled into one night feed at 4ish - fine apart form taking 1.5hrs to eat and burp! - which means DS normally wakes anytime from 530 on so my day could start at 4 when she woke However last night I decided to try what several people on here have done and keep her awake 5-7 then bather her with DS and get her to bed for the evening, worked fine for the evening, she fed a bit late according to timetable but we were all asleep by 11 I think, then woke to feed at 4 as usual so no change at all, am I supposed to set an alarm so I wake her to feed at 2? It wasn't my fault that DS had his worst night for a while, up from 2-330 for no reason we could tell

Yorky · 05/01/2009 23:25

Fri 23 works for me, DH says he can reschedule a meeting and watch DS so DD and I can have a girly day out! Where in Trafford centre (I've been there once!) and what time?

barbareebaa · 05/01/2009 23:26

Hi
furry terrible behaviour of your m. What a complete nightmare for you. I hope you get some helpful advice - I guess at the end of the day you can't stop her from being the way she is but you can stop it affecting you by not having any contact with her. But what an awful decision to have to make.
Vbab You have gorgeous children!!
Daisy I think you are spot on with the vasospasm diagnosis!! I do worry about going to the dr and telling them what I think I've got and suggesting treatment tho. I read an article about a drug which is given to angina patients which is meant to work quite quickly. I must sort it soon cos this cold weather is making my norks throb
Re: daytime naps - I can't put W down during the day either but he's doing really well in his cot at night . I would like some time to be able to make a sandwich, possibly clean during the day - don't like just sitting. Might look into getting a sling, might be the way forward for me. Any suggestions?
obs Sorry that things are so difficult at the moment
merry i also do the block feeding thing (I think I do anyway) Just sometimes he doesn't feed too long (snacking?) on one boob so I carry on with that one the next feed.

W had tb injection today. We didn't like it much.

vbab78 · 06/01/2009 08:21

chocgal - wish i had a hol booked. I actually became obsessive yesterday and decided I/we (dh & kids) need a hol in the sun. Just so happens my mum and dad are going away feb a couple of days after my birthday so i wanted to jump onto their hol. They were fine with it, even after our bad day from which we all pretend didnt happen to get over it. But DH straight away said "No" with no reason, although could maybe guess with what happened recently. But when I did push him for a reason he pulled out of the air "my boss is away then so cant" which will be true but probably not the REAL reason for "No". I know it would be expensive going abroad but just feel like I/we all need if after everything. Recent stuff with mum and dad doesnt bother me now so i personally have no prob with going away with them and we have many times before and had a good time. My coping strategy with parents is to tell them as stuff happens how I feel or ignore stupid grandparent comments and not go on about DS's behaviour to them.
yorky - A was in moses basket after trying for an hour the bedtime routine (2nd night) for 8pm then until we woke her at 10pm ish for last feed. Then small feed at 2.30am. Then she woke at 5.50am so tried "Ssshh" which worked. She then slept until 6.50am when we fed her. So not bad really.
I dont set my alarm for early am (2.30am ish) feed just let her wake just on the off chance she will one day sleep through. But do set alarm for 7am.

Ceebee74 · 06/01/2009 08:43

Morning

Just did the nursery run all by myself as DH is away until Thursday evening - Sam in the sling and DS1 in his Thomas stroller - DS1 didn't kick up a fuss about putting his coat, hat and gloves on or having the straps done up on the pushchair. Makes me wonder if he just kicks off when me and DH are both here for some reason

So I have Sam all to myself for the whole day - lots of cuddles and snuggles I think AM going to get him weighed this morning (after I have done my Rosemary Conley Salsacise DVD of course ) - he hasn't been weighed since 9 Dec so am expecting a good couple of pounds weight gain!

Meet-up 23rd it is then! Any other takers - so far, me, Yorky, Furry, Daisy....Do we want to meet for lunch? If so, there are loads of restaurants to choose from...Nandos, TGI Fridays, plus loads of other little ones with every kind of food you can imagine!

Barbs no suggestions for what to do during the day - am struggling myself - maybe the 'ssssh' method might work?

Had a good night last night.....fed Sam at 6 and then again at 8 (where he only had a couple of oz) - tried a dreamfeed at 10 but he was having none of it (lips clamped shut etc). He woke at 3 and then again at 6.30 - and, on nursery days, we have to be up at 6.45 anyway, I thought that was a result This is the second night in a row where he has refused the dreamfeed and he has actually slept more I don't think I will bother with it tonight - I remember DS1 dropped the dreamfeed very early on too.

LadyBuzz · 06/01/2009 08:48

Re the meet up, I don't know as yet if I can do the 23rd, If J has had CP by then and is over it then I will be there but if he hasn't he will still be in the windown where he possibly could still get it and may be infectious.
I would not forgive myself if I was responsible for a Nov08 Nprthern babies CP epidemic - there will be another one though? [hopeful]

Well I managed to get Jay to sleep for a whole 4 mins on his own in the pushchair yesterday AM but spent th whole of the PM cuddling him or he cried.

Tonight we are starting to attempt again to put him to bed before 11pm

pinky glad you seem to be sorting things in your own head at least, sounds like you are having a tough time.

LadyBuzz · 06/01/2009 08:49

That should be 40 mins sleep - i don't time things tha closely

OblomovOYeFaithful · 06/01/2009 09:28

Morning.
Just bookmarking.
PN group starts in 1/2 hour. Then have to go to hospital for MRI shoulder scan. so will post later - lots of posts I want to reply/respond to.

barbareebaa · 06/01/2009 10:04

Morning!
Quick question - occured to me last night as I woke will for his feed at midnight - should I wake him or wait for him to wake up? This is the only feed I choose for him - the rest he dictates. Do you think it would be better to wait and see what time he wakes naturally - will it hinder him sleeping longer (i.e. through the night if I wake him when he is fast out)
The reason I wake him is for my convenience I suppose - I go to bed after this feed and feel he is more likely to sleep longer if he is full.#
What does everyone else do?

To wake or not to wake?????

cricri · 06/01/2009 10:05

Obs Hope the scan goes ok.
Thanks for the advice about teething - not sure it is that tbh. Her cheek is still a bit red and she's been putting her hand in her mouth again this morning but she seems a lot more settled than yesterday - even managed to sleep in her Amby nest for an hour first thing! And I've managed to get her off to sleep at 11pm for two nights running and she's only woken once during the night for a quick feed which I've started to do lying down and then she's asleep again
Pinky I know you weren't trying to pressure me into using cloth nappies - it is something I want to do but just haven't got around to sorting out yet, with everything else that has been going on. Thanks for the tots bots suggestion Hana, I'll look into those.
Barbareeba I had the same problem as you - E refused to be put down during the day so I started using a sling. I've got a close baby carrier here and I find it really comfortable. I wear it a bit lower than shown on the photos and E can feed as I'm going about doing things. Since I started using it she's much better about being left in bouncy chairs etc. during the day. The Fisher Price swing chair has been great too - she even falls asleep in that now. Most of her naps during the day are in the sling and in the meantime I can get on with things. I have yet to get her to sleep in her own bed at night but I'm sure that will come with time too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and that 2009 will bring much joy and happiness to everyone xxxx

We went skiing and survived with an 8 week old baby!! She was amazing. Didn't cause us any problems although i did have a sudden fit of panic that i had taken her into the heights and she would suffer from altitude sickness, (she didn't go up in the ski lifts). At one point it was minus 14 so Esme and I had much fun sitting the cafe bar drinking hot chocolate and reading our books (ok so she didn't do much reading).

I'm so sorry that some of us are having a hard time of it.

Coolcat mmmm i'm near Lincoln.

Nothern Meet Up Any news on this????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? RUTHO???????

Pinkali37 · 06/01/2009 11:05

have just put a couple more pics up.

Ceebee74 · 06/01/2009 11:31

Pinkali wow Esme is so pretty Welcome back and glad you had a good holiday! As for the northern meet-up it is moved to Manchester now which is probably no good for you - although you are more than welcome if you can make it? I am sure we will do a South Yorkshire one very soon though.

For those struggling with day sleeps - this morning, I put Sam on a beanbag whilst I did an exercise DVD - he drifted off to sleep quite happily and is still asleep on there an hour later. Can't use that when DS1 is around though otherwise Sam would be pounced on!!

Pinkglow · 06/01/2009 12:03

barbareebaa I think wheather to wake him for a feed or not depends on if it makes a difference to his feeds. If I wake H at 11pm he sleeps till 4am then 6:30am and if I dont he wakes at 1am then 5am so for me its worth doing. Sometimes it doesnt make any difference though.

Last night however he was up every 2 hours but not feeding much when he did wake, hes not feeding a whole lot today either but other than that he seems like his usual self. See what happens tonight.

chocolategal · 06/01/2009 12:08

buzz your routine sounds exactly like mine!!
although managed to get E sleeping by 10.30pm instead of 11pm last night, am going to try for 10pm tonight!!

lovely pics pinkali ceebee is sam feeding every 3 hours? does he ever go over or under this time?
would you wake him if he had gone past 4 hours?
just curious as at the moment i am letting E feed on demand pretty much (bottle feeding) which is ROUGHLY 4oz every 4 hours but i dont wake him if he is sleeping....should i??

question
to those ladies who had forceps delivery, how is your pelvic floor muscles?
i feel mine are gone completely! i have been doing my exercises religiously and i still have an issue with peeing!! i feel if i dont go to the loo straight away then i wouldn't be able to hold it in and on one occasion i didn't! this is really starting to get me down, just wondering what everyone else's experiences were and if you didnt mind sharing.....

thank you
