Sad untrendy old mum question - What are hula jeans?
I can get to Trafford centre for 1030-11ish, might even be dressed!

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 20:28

daisy good luck with routine tonight, why don't you go and sleep now??!!! I promise you, perservere with routine if that is what you want, as tiger now sleeps 1030-630am - HURRAH!!!

DS1 went onto solids at 16 weeks (WHO recommendation at the time was 4 months) and DS2 was 17 weeks. I go by them rather than WHO. Saying that, both boys were 10lbs compared to Tiger's 6lbs 15oz, so perhaps she will be later? Who knows...Like ceebee I am happy to leave it as late as possible for MY sake!!!

pinkali your day sounds fab - i have also spalshed out next sale for Tiger!

Coolkat goodluck for tomorrow, let us know how you get on, finger's crossed!!

ChocOrange05 · 08/01/2009 20:34

Evening all

We've been very chatty today so apologies if I miss anyone!

Dozy I bought a bumbo today and the box says 3-12 months. I put M in it as he's quite good with his head and he seemed to like it (I did have to support his neck a bit so he's not quite ready for it yet but soon)

Merry I cannot say enough how in awe I am of you with TWO babies (let alone a toddler!) - you are a star.

I have completely missed the boat with this hula jeans convo - why are they so great?

Coolkat good luck with your interview tomorrow!

Saurus so glad you're back - you make me laugh!!

Pinkali sounds like a fun day - especially the shopping! Boots has some clothes with 50% off so I bought M a top that says "Daddy's little star" on it for £2!

Daisy I now have "whats that coming over the hill...." in my head - thanks!! although better than the permanent "I'd rather be playing darts down at the Lakeside..." as it usually is this time of year. Anyone relate??

Monkey let us know how the CO goes - M has his 2nd appointment on Saturday.

M and I had a busy day today - we were out walking/coffee-ing from 9am - 5pm with a quick pop home at 12.30. M was asleep in his pram in the middle of his daytime nap and as we were off out again at 1 I wanted him to stay asleep and bringing him in the house is like a wake up button so I left him in the garden!! Obviously wrapped up warm while I washed up and watched him from the window!! Am I a terrible mummy?? (But it worked!!)

juanitad · 08/01/2009 20:51

Oh dear, am finding it hard to keep up with this thread again, Patrick is not too keen on letting me on the internet during the day and as I am going to bed at 9 these days, to catch up on some sleep, I don't have much chance on an evening either, so sorry if I always seem a bit out of it!!

I have a question about nappy rash. Patrick has got quite a nasty rash in the little crease to one side of his willy, I think it's where his wee usually lands, so must be from acid in the urine or something. Normal nappy cream doesn't seem to be helping, the rash is getting quite nasty and starting to get a scab. Anyone else had anything similar? Any good recommendations for treating it? Any advice appreciated!

Ceebee74 · 08/01/2009 20:56

Yorky Hula jeans are jeans from New Look that fit over baby bellies and only cost £10 - they are fab!

So, for those of us meeting on 23rd, do we all have a minky blanket?? I do, I know Daisy and, of course, Furry have one - Yorky?

Sam has been a real cross-patch today - no idea what is wrong with him...it took me forever to get him to settle this morning and eventually he fell asleep on our bed at 11.00 whilst I was in the shower and then stayed asleep until about 3 - in those 4 hours, I dressed him, gave him a bottle, laid him on a rug on the wood floor in the lounge for over an hour, put him in the car, took him round Sainsburys, put him back in the car, went to my friends house...he eventually woke up whilst I was feeding him there! Once he is properly asleep, there really is no waking him! However, apart from when he was asleep/in the bath with DH and DS1, he has pretty much been crying all day. Thankfully he has now fallen asleep on his gym as he usually does at night so hopefully we will get a peaceful night.

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 20:56

JUANITAD This has happened to DS1 before. Sudocreme is BRILLIANT as is Burts Baby Bees nappy cream. also change nappies more regularily than you think (especially if using disposables). Not sure why it flares up sometimes, maybe someone else will be along who has a hbetter idea?

Yorky · 08/01/2009 21:01

From recent experience with DD juanitad I would take P to the docs as I thought DD had horrible nappy rash, she was raw and bepanthen, E45 nappy cream and metanium hadn't helped at all. It turned out she had thrush, different cream and its clearing nicely

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 21:07

babybees dusting powder (talc free) is good for creases juanita, but second yorky in that it might be thrush and needs some canesten cream.

I have a pinky blanket, but don't take it out of the house lest I lose it (am hopeless for losing things/leaving them behind); it's far too precious for that

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 21:08

Are you going to stay'n'play tomorrow juanita? I am organised for once.

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 21:10

lacks I am like you with my minky (as we all call it) I left it in the supermarket car park over christmas, and only realised when we got home. I was like a silver bullet racing back to see if it had been handed in. thankfully, it had!

i love the whole babybees range - worth the money in my opinion!!!

Yorky · 08/01/2009 21:10

DD is a sad minky-less girl

Ceebee74 · 08/01/2009 21:14

Ok then - maybe we need to wear a red rose each or something or maybe we will be able to spot that 'knackered' look that goes with a new baby and recognise each other that way

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 21:16

MY DD's new dolly even has a minky . DD has donated it to her dolly; she wraps the doll up in it and totes it around. As soon as I pick bumble out of his chair, dolly is in there with blanket. Soooo cute, but I hope she doesn't decide to turf bumble out of it at any point soon.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 21:18

I'll be the one limping, with limp lank hair and matchsticks propping my eyes open. Or if I'm feeding bumble when I get there, I'll be the one with the slurping noisy baby. I really am terrified to feed him in public as he makes such a production about it.

OP posts:
BigFurryStripeyTiger · 08/01/2009 21:21

lol at you lot.
I was over on the vest thread.

Can't believe you left your minky in the car park, Dozy!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 21:23

vest thread?

knew it was too good to be true...bumble is awake again. he is hungry though so i'll let him off. then i'm off to bed i think; see if i can cach up on some sleep.

OP posts:
BigFurryStripeyTiger · 08/01/2009 21:31

yup. vests and slow cookers. Thursday nights couldn't get much more exciting.

OOps, what am I saying, I have laundry to fold..woop doo..

Hope everyone's babies sleep soundly.

vbab78 · 08/01/2009 21:52

Was just about to start reading posts when A has just started crying . She has been very distressed all afternoon, not like her, and nothing seems to make her better. She has also been throwing her feeds up for the last two days. Dont know what the sick is about but the being distressed this aft I think is colic/gripe. Are gripe and colic the same?

Bye. Wish I could read your posts. Also wish I was meeting you all at trafford centre. Going to bed now as think bad night ahead with A. DH handling A until bedtime and giving me serious guilt trip/woe is me/i'm tired looks as he wanted to go to bed earlier. Apparantly he is tired?! I think he thinks I am a robot or just doesnt care that I'm the one that does the night feeds, looks after 2 children all day and night and does everything and anything else (well not ALL ).

REALLY MUST GO! Think I'm addicted to mumsnet.

barbareebaa · 08/01/2009 22:10

Hi!

Lovely different dr has referred W to ear nose and throat at Whipps WOOOHOOO! Didn't have to do any insisting, he was a very nice grandad type that made W smile and I like him a lot Also he has prescribed gaviscon for reflux.

Are you ready for this...............

William (6 weeks) weighs 13lbs 10oz!! He is also long and nurse said he will be a very tall man if he keeps this up

V. jealous of your meet up ladies! ooh but perhaps me and merry might be meeting next week (dh away weds-Mon)Are you still doing cake

Hi vbab W also chucking up feeds... most distressing Hope you get it sorted!

Am also using grobag - 3 tog but he has been waking up and I'm wondering if he is cold. Merry Did you say you chucked blanket over? I don't know what to do - am fraid of overheating but if it's o.k. then I will do too - mw told me not to but I do think he's cold

barbareebaa · 08/01/2009 22:14

BTW - just wanted to say massive thank you to you all - I really had no clue about this baby lark and if it wasn't for you guys I'd still be none the wiser - I mean if the gp's don't know then what chance do you have if you are not an mnetter?????

So thanks ladies for making me aware and helping me find solutions xx

vbab78 · 08/01/2009 22:17

STILL HERE! BAD I KNOW. This had alarm bells start ringing about A. Wonder if she has started with reflux?! Just read a webpage on it "Reflux info".
DUH! You ladies have been talking about it for ages and just not registered. She is being slightly ill but mainly when winding after each feed, only sleeping this eve when upright, this aft my mum commented that she is wriggling about and a little upset whilst being fed, screaming on and off just not the usual cry ...
Wondering if I should talk her to doctors tomorrow?

vbab78 · 08/01/2009 22:19

meant "just" not "this". DUH.

LadyBuzz · 08/01/2009 22:20

Vbab it can't do any harm to get A Checked if there is nothing wrong it will at least ease your mind.
Barbs great news on the referral hope you get some answers for your whopper

vbab78 · 09/01/2009 05:45

Hi ladies. Up feeding A. She has lasted since 12.30 when DH stopped up and sorted her out, this is not the norm. The norm is feed about 10.30pm then 2-3am then up 6-7am. She has just vomited down the sofa and carpet whilst winding AGAIN . She is now in her 3rd day of vomiting/milk dribbling back out at EVERY feed. Seems to have got worse because didnt even register at 1st that she'd been poorly regularly. She has just fell asleep on me instantly when i put her upright rather than laid down and screaming. REFLUX? Going to try her in basket now and see if she gets upset.
Think i will phone docs.

Dozymare · 09/01/2009 08:44

vbab how is she today? I would definately take A to the Dr's today, especially as she has been sick now for 3 days.....keep us posted!

Hello everyone else - I am just about to walk into town so I can join the Hula gang!!!

For those of you with 2 year olds, have you started potty training yet? DS2 was 2 in July and we did it over the holidays, no problem, even dry through the night..This week however, he is pooing his pants (but going away and hiding to do it??) Attention seeking??? Any advice??? AM NOT PUTTING HIM BACK IN NAPPIES. Still doing wee's on potty or loo, just reverted back for his poos - aarghh!!!!
