x post rutho. took so long to post in between feeding babies. LOL at sex book and the candles. We'd probaby set our floorboards on fire. I am going for our thread record. It will be ONE YEAR on Feb 14th!!!! Dozy are you with me or not?

ceebs, i like your top too, is it easy enough to whip your boobs out? I may be off to buy one? Let me know...

ruthosaurus · 08/01/2009 12:03

Merry, respect. Is he chewing the walls? Moment of silence for Mr Merry.

Are you going to celebrate Valentines together, fner fner?

MerryMarigold · 08/01/2009 12:32

no rutho, may go for 18 months!!! he is too knackered to care! (and i am mighty unfanciable too).

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 12:50

merry....bumble was a Valentine's Night baby too!

DH and I were talking about it last night and neither of us can remember the last time we did it. I can remember once in May as we were in the spare bed as we had friends staying. After that....who knows? Thankfully DH is a patient man.

Just taken delivery of an iCandy pear.....it is flipping enormous, and very odd. I'm going to get a few strange looks from people I can tell you. The chap from iCandy was here for an hour and a half and made me put it up and down to make sure I could do it myself.....all I wanted to do was free my poor throbbing boob from the confines of my bra. I'm sure it looks all lop-sided as well.

That t-mobile ad is doing my head in....the computer keeps on clicking....off to report it to tech.

Merry I wasn't planning on getting my norks out of the top, since I am bottle feeding, but I can try and see how easy it is . Gosh your DH must be a patient man - my DH gets all grumpy if we don't have sex every 3 or 4 days

Rutho excuse my ignorance but aren't the TV and film version of MASH similar?? In that they are both set in the Vietnam War?? Not really sure what the difference would be tbh. Thinking off the top of my head, about something based on a kimono-type thing? DH watches the TV series all the time and pretty sure kimonos feature quite strongly. Or, there is a character who dresses up as a woman in really hideous flowery dresses etc (the type of things your gran might wear ).

coolkat · 08/01/2009 12:55

Hi Ladies

Ceb's Love that top, I can never where anythig lik that because of my norkage.

Rutho glad to see you back in the mumsnet saddle, LOL at your sex book! Did your DH get you that as a hint?

Lacks Sorry about mastitis again, when I had it the other weeks, it knocked me sideways. Hope you got anti-biotics to shift it quick.

Barbs - Good luck at the doctors.

We also use grow bags as Becca would kick the covers off and then be crying as she is cold.

Well DH was at work today so I was 'flying solo' and Becca chose this morning for her nappy to go all up her back, she was covered even managed to get in her hair when changing. This is also the morning when I was going from School straight to HV clinic - NIGHTMARE, my stress levels rose just a little!

Anyhow felt a little disappointed as although Becca feeding really well she has not put that much weight on. At 6 weeks she was 10lb 3 and now at 10 weeks she is 11lb. Will weigh her in a fortnight and hoe she has gained a bit more.

Spoke to the HV about putting her in her own room as we have one of them breathing monitors and she said it was fine as we are probably both disturbing one another at the moment so this is what I may do next week. I will put the moses basket in the cot to begin with. Does anyone think this is a really bad idea ?

Right she is asleep and I need to do some housework . . although did my ironing last night

coolkat · 08/01/2009 12:58

Daisy was that Andy from Icandy

Merry how can your DH not fancy you after giving him 3 beautiful babies. X

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 13:06

Glad you all are enjoying the "shush, Shush" method....the theory behind it is this...

When in the womb, the only constant sound a baby hears is "shush, shush" otherwise known as the amniotic fluid whooshing around....

therefore, when a mum replicates this sound, it usually calms a baby.

Another trick is the pacing backwards and forwards as this again replcates being in the womb and being moved around.

Oh and the final one is to pat the baby on the back (whilst moving backwards and forwards) as the rhythm is meant to replicate the mother's heartbeat.

3 things to learn today, took me 3 DC's to get there but glad to be of service!!!!

now, if anyone can help me with Dummy addiciotn ina 10 week old, I would be so,so grateful!!!!

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 13:10

merry not with you on the "how's your father" stage, we are business as usual I'm afraid!!

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 13:15

so daisy is another valentines baby!! You must have missed the chat between merry and I months ago - we are both valetine's shaggers!!!!

Also, daisy how do you get to test so much? I want a piece of the action - please!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 13:15

it was coolkat . A very nice chap, and I couldn't resist mentioning it to him (his name that is, not my throbbing nork ), but I bet he gets it all the time . I can sympathise though given my name and surname!

sorry to hear about B's weight gain (or lack of it). Has she dropped through the centiles? sometimes it's good to take a step back from the wieght loss/gain from one week to another and look at the bigger picture. We had problems with DD losing weight, but when we (me and the GP) actually looked at the whole chart, she was effectively still on the same line but had previously had a blip upwards and was just getting back to where she should have been iyswim. The HV only looked at the minus fuigure though and referred us to the GP.

Also, some BF babies who have been average or above average at birth can slip down the centiles to where their "natural" line is meant to be. It's called catch down growth.

kellymom has some good advice about weight gain and what to expect.

I'm holding off with the ABs for now as I don;t want to get thrush again. I'm going to try and see a counsellor and see if we can't fix his latching problems. I've fallen into the trap of believing all the hcps who tell me he is doing it right as he is thriving and ignoring the niggling isssues.

every three or four days ceebee . Can't remember the last time DH and I were that active; probably before DS1 was born!!

register on the askamum forum (forum for M&B magazine) and keep your eye out for appeals for testers in "15 minutes of fame". Sometimes if they have your details from doing one test, you get offered other tests as well.

They look for testers for the M&B awards in February. I'll give you the nod when it comes round again

daisy mastitis again, poor you, hope you are better soon

MonkeyMargot · 08/01/2009 14:03

Hi everyone - I keep trying to catch up, but by the time I do, I have to dash off again! Still haven't caught up, but hope everyone's ok? I see Rutho is back - are you ok hun?
How is obs?

All good here - just been busy this week. We are off to cranial osteopath this afternoon to part with £65. Should be interesting though.

Trying to be a mean queen of routine now - well, GF-lite version of. Some nights the Plum follows perfectly, others, she won't go down in the evening til we go to bed (10pm-ish). Either way, she's only waking for one night feed at around 4am, and going back down quickly and settling herself, so all is good on the sleep front.

Colic problem has also gone since we started on Infancol. Phew!! no more screamy nights!!

She weighed in at 12 pounds at 7 weeks - so is growing at a rate of knots. She started out on 52% percentile, is now almost on 90th percentile.

Will go and catch up in a bit- waves and hugs to all.

P.S. Merrymari you appeared in my dream 2 nights ago!! You gave me big hug!!

coolkat · 08/01/2009 14:06

Dozy - Weds post at 20.13 has Ceebs rather nice top on it if this is what your after.

Right housework.....

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 14:10

buzz....meant to say yesterday, arse to your GPs for making you feel like a paranoid mummy and the vindicating your worries when it suited them. I hate GPs who don't listen to what mums are saying. We know our babies best!

lol rutho at sad wanker. that's exactly what my DH must be as he hasn't asked for any assistance. He does keep wittering on, optimistically, about blowjobs though!

more great advice from dozy. I knew the shussing and patting worked, but didn't know why....and now i do!

bumble is......awake . has been for about an hour. this is totally unprecedented for him. Now how to keep him like this till bedtime?

OP posts:
Dozymare · 08/01/2009 14:18

daisy have you got to do school run? If not, then get the play gym out, bath, cot mobile....then around 3:30-4pm let bumble sleep until 5pm then do bedtime routine...it may work!!!!!

off to get my little tiger up, can hear her cooing!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2009 14:22

we'll be doing school run at 3 and he'll sleep then prob. he now has wind and is grumpy and clingy hence bad typing. dd is running amok in the kitchen.

MerryMarigold · 08/01/2009 14:34

barbs, glad i am not the only one! cheers for making me feel better.

GF baby Judo is doing the routine so far today. Non GF baby Podgkin has wanted feeding every 2 hours and slept all day. I am that GF has feeds so far apart!!! But so far the darling Judo is managing. Bless him.

percentiles. Judo has fallen from 50th to 9th so they are a bit worried, but I am looking at his double chin thinking he is fine...at least he will fit his 0-3 for longer!

margot, ahhh that is sweet.

...now I understand the patting. I always pat my babies on the back to soothe them

dj commandeering comp. x am of your laptop obs

MerryMarigold · 08/01/2009 14:36

that's dh by the way

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 08/01/2009 14:54

hi all
Daisy sorry about your boob

Imi was a Valentines..er..week.. baby well I felt myself ovulate and wasn't going to waste the opportunity!

I am crumply too- no ironing here, except in the studio- so allt hose who have blankets should feel privileged in that regard as they about the only things I do iron.

Dozy fab advice re-shushing. And patting. Over the shoulder with firm patting on the botty usually works for me.

That didn't sound quite right but you know what I mean!

Went to the soft play thingy at Trafford Centre this morning- it was fab,not too busy at all. Quite a workout with Imi in the sling- could go down as an extreme baby-wearing moment!

RE DH I may have to treat him as he's going for surgery on his knee next month.

Hello everyone.

merry I can't believe I've put up with it for so long- feel a bit of an idiot really, but I didn't really know any different.

Daisy I tried out the icandy before I got my bugaboo bee a few weeks ago. It weighs a ton!

Yorky · 08/01/2009 15:15

Hello again all,
Grabbing a quick 5mins on pooter with sleepy milk filled baby on knee and DS asleep upstairs, have to wake him soon.

Diet consists of too much choc, but am walking quite a bit with both DCs on pram
DD and I both had thrush over Christmas and I thought she had horrendous nappy rash but at 6wk check on Tues doc said that was thrush too and is already clearing up much better on clotrim...whatsit than sudocrem

DS went to tumbletots yesterday and did really well, the 2+ age group is much more structured than he's used to and I was dreading him only wanting to do his favourite activity so was majorly relieved and proud when he followed everyone else!

Car has gone to stay with my dad for MOT 2 new tyres service and timing belt. Dealer wanted over £200 just to do timing belt - Ouch! I love my Daddy

Sorry for me post, I only managed a quick skim through all the chat.
Looking forward to 23rd, what time are we meeting?

ruthosaurus · 08/01/2009 15:59

Oh my goodness, why do I feel so young, thin and lissom - is it because I too now have the amazing Hula jeans? Bargain - £10 for a smaller bum? [rips up FoodFocus membership, metaphorically speaking, and reaches for the biscuits...]

Okay so I have them in a size 16, 32" leg so they are turned up 2 inches until I get the sewing machine out as I am a wide shortarse BUT I am a much less lardy looking wide shortarse.

I'm going back tomorrow for another pair with shorter legs. In fact, I'm gonna order them online now!

[pant pant pant - breathless from effort of jumping on bandwagon ]

Right, off to catch up before Fin wakes up and screams because he does not recognise his new thin(ish) mummy. See you all in a bit!

PS the overexuberance is cos the only jeans that I was previously getting into was a pair of DH old ripped ones, nice.
