I guess they hoping to get away with as minimal compensation as they can given there were 18,000 of us.
Some didn't get reconnected until boxing day!!
Our electric was only off for 6 hours so don't think they have to compensate for that as food is supposed to be ok for that amount of time.
I think i will write to them when i get the offer though asking what rebate we get for the extra elctricity we had to use to compensate and also inconvenience etc.

Lucky that would make me really mad esp if it woke dd!

MM wow 2 weeks are you ready ?

Simpson there would be recipe books you can get for allergies.
Am sure you could whip up a cake for her Actully my cooking skills are pretty poor and i made ds cake for his 3rd party. He still talks of tha one now and asks if he can have it again!

Housemum i was going to get a couple of the cheap ones fr dd from asda!

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 22:13

Lily - I'm glad they're offering you some type of compensation. I just hope they offer you enough to cover what you lost too.

Anyone want a black kitten? he's the only one left.

madmouse · 04/01/2009 22:21

Am I ready?
Let's see:
I have done baptism preparation and we have wonderful godparents.

I will sing a song in church called 'Gift to me' by Martyn Joseph. Am reasonably practised and have today sorted out guitarist to accompany me.

Cake is sorted, our church warden runs one of the best cakeshops in the country, right in our town.

Lovely vicar's wife is making some of her magic coronation chicken and a few puddings bless her

Need to borrow a pan from church big enough to boil the ham before glazing in the oven.

Have a big tesco order set up for the day before. Only need to cook ham, make potato salad and mackerel salad, green salad, bake gluten free bread, make some puddings including one dairy soy and gluten free

we have two sets of godparents one living locally one lot coming up from Reigate with two small kids and a huge bump. they are staying nearby in travelodge so will eat with us the night before.

piece of cake really.as long as oven and dishwasher hold out

Madmouse - it sounds perfect! (You are beginning to sound like a cross between Nigella Lawson and Julie Andrews there!)

Amelie's baptism will always be memorable for me - freaky April snowstorm, I have gorgeous pics of DDs 1 & 2 throwing snowballs outside the church!

Interestingly different viewpoints of children & churches - took Amelie today (DDs 1 treated DD2 to cheap cinema this morning!) - she was really good, just crawled around with her board book by my feet (modern building with carpet not cold stone floors) and occasional "ooh" and "dada" noises. Vicar's wife sat at other end of my row said to me afterwards, "wasn't she so well behaved", older lady after said to Amelie, "are you the one who was making a noise in the sermon", then to me " still, she'll learn to be quiet"

madmouse · 05/01/2009 09:26

Housemum, I am a vicar's wife and I do not think children should be quiet in church, if we cannot do church when the children are happy we do something wrong. Nathan dadadad all the way through dh's sermon yesterday and dh got rubbed about being heckled

Right,
and Nathan woke crying at 3am. He was stuck at the top of his cot. Pulled him down, tucked him in, soothed him and went back to bed. He cried furiously for two whole minutes and went to sleep. Was still asleep when I left at 7am . No nightfeed, no morning feed

Housemum i remember that ds birthday 4th April and one of his friends couldn't come to party after sledging accident!
We have snow here again this morning!

Mm wow you sound extremely organised! Agree about church i find most people are good about the dc even when Martha groans through it! I think that is why the priest does a Sat night mass and early Sun mass as the family one is likely to be noisy!

Lucky when did mum get rehomed ? Will foster anymore ?

Well i think i get the badge of honour then After my fellow non sleepers (jks , mm)lo's have started behaving i think it's just me then ?
Martha is getting worse not better. Think it's culmination of busy xmas , upset routine etc and getting attached to night time feeds. DP basically had enough now and wants me to cut all feeds in night which is fair enough as we all need a full nights sleep but not looking forward to it!

Should have been my first day back at work today so just rung tax credit to inform them i am not going back. Hope they don't take too much off me!

LaTrucha · 05/01/2009 12:00

HI Ladies!

Well, my plan to stop bf Sabela at 4.30 has backfired on me. She has given up the bf beautifully, but now thinks she can get into bed with me for a snooze whenever she feels like it in the night. hmm She seems to be waking herself up doing walking exercises - on her back - but it seems as if they are some kind of instinct - as if she can't help it so I feel bad about leaving her to cry. I don't believe it would work if I did TBH as she doesn't seem to be able to help it. It's difficult to know what to do aswell as we have no spare room ATM so neither of us can escape for some shut eye. Oh well.

Sabela has stopped asking for her first morning feed aswell. MM. I feel ok if either of us wants to stop now. It feels pretty nice having done it for a year though. She's beginning to eat like a wolf too.

Lucky - what didi you do this morning then?

Simpson - that was a good plan with the alarm!

Housemum - I would have been very at that lady.

Lily - Sweet about the cake! East or West, mummy's the best. eh?

simpson · 05/01/2009 12:16

Lilyloo - We have snow here too Although DS not impressed as he complains its too cold

Surely you will get more tax credits if not earning?

LaT - Glad all ok. DD crawls in her sleep so their little brains must be in overdrive

Having the last lazy day today before DS starts back at school tomorrow.

Have to brave it outside even though its freezing to get veg for tea and the hoover

madmouse · 05/01/2009 15:02

LaT, you could try moving her bath time to the evening and giving her leggies a nice massage after to see if that will relax her muscles so she does not 'walk' herself up.Maybe use a bit of lavender.

Housemum · 05/01/2009 20:03

Lilyloo - still not sleeping here either! (both her sisters slept through at 3 and 5 mths)

She wakes around 3 am, needs a cuddle to go back to sleep - sometimes 10 mins, sometimes 40! She shares room with DD2 so can't do cc with her - will just have to wait for her to grow out of it. Might be teething related - we did have whole week sleeping through until molars started pushing (first 2 have cut gums now)

LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 21:07

Mum hasn't officially been rehomed. She's on holiday so that her milk dries up so she can be rehomed BUT the people who are looking after her have fallen in love with her so they might be keeping her if they can persuade the landlady to allow them.

LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 21:32

K is home. It WAS viral meningitus but they caught it in time. He is fine apparently and SO happy to be home.... I'm so happy!!

simpson · 05/01/2009 21:37

Lucky - that is great news

LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 21:40

It really is Simp - Has scared the crap outta me since he went in. Feels like my own child being in hospital.

simpson · 05/01/2009 21:42

Must have been so scary for his poor parents

LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 21:43

Yeh I mean if I felt like this then how the hell did they feel?

mixedmama · 05/01/2009 22:11

Lucky - so pleased.. how awful for everyone involved.

madmouse · 05/01/2009 22:27

oh well done, K
so glad that he is better
got the whole church to pray for him on sunday, it worked

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 22:28

It must have MM (although I dont believe in it myself) that is quite freaky how he's been allowed out the day after they prayed for him.

MrsMcClaus · 05/01/2009 22:45

Gingeme · 06/01/2009 09:07

Good luck Simpson hope it goes ok.
Welcome back MrsMc Happy New Year to you too.
ds3 back to school. Didn't want to go. Made every excuse because he wants to go to Clown Town with us instead. Once he had his new school shoes on he was happy
George woke at 6.15 this morning Tooearly by far.
Well keep warm ladies xx

LaTrucha · 06/01/2009 11:45

Urgh. Well Sabela is well and truly taking advantage now. We had a terrible night simply because she was insisting on cuddles ALL the time. I can't say I felt like giving them much by 5am.

We're going back to CC tonight. She doesn't need it for going down, but I can't believe how far we've gone back on the night wakings. I thought we'd passed all that.

LOL over school shoes, Gingeme!

My brother has just made noises about buying a house down the street from us!
